Money In the Bank: 2009

I pick Shelton or Christian to win.

MVP- Possibility, but he just won the US title. I don't see it happening.
Finlay- Lol. Nope.
Henry- Clearly not.
CM Punk- Lackluster reign, they won't repeat.
Kofi- Too young.
Kane- Possible, but I think they just wanted him on the card.

Quite honestly, I don't think the winner of this year's Money in the Bank match will actually win a title. My choices are Christian and Shelton, and both have major downfalls that will, I believe, block them from winning the big title. Christian has yet to prove himself to Vince clearly, but winning the briefcase and losing his cashing in would still give him a ME push (and set him into a feud with said superstar, maybe Edge?) without having to actually throw the strap on him. Shelton is a possibility to win the match just by ruling out other superstars, but I don't think anyone would find him truly ready to hold a world title, though certainly if the WWE built him up properly they wouldn't mind him cashing in the title and losing (ME trial push without the belt).

This match is quickly becoming my most anticipated match of the card. There is just so many things they could do with it depending on who wins it. In the past it has been my favorite WM match. Who will forget Jeff putting Edge through a ladder? As for tonight: I really want Kane to win but I don't think it's gonna happen in all honesty. If we get the people out of the way who won't win it first, it narrows our options a little.

Finlay, Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston and Punk won't win.

No point in pushing Finlay, he's all but done. Henry can barley climb the stairs to the ring never mind a 15 foot ladder. As mentioned preiously, Kofi is too young imo and Punk has already won one so I doubt they would give it to him again.

That leaves us with MVP, Shelton, Christian and Kane.

Many are arguing that the only real legitimate winners are gonna be Christian or Shelton as MVP already holds a belt and Kane won't get another push. Christian is a definate contender but will the WWE reward him so early when he betrayed them in the past, I'm not sure. So that leaves us with Shelton, my pick for the MITB match. Let it be known that the match is still up in the air and any of these contenders could win.

N.B. Uncle Sam is predicting that Christian will win and cash it in at Wrestlemania tonight against Edge. Food for thought.

It's down to Christian, Benjamin, and Punk.

Toss up for me. The Christian scenario sounds good, but I'm not sure it happens. I include him because he makes more sense than everyone else.

Benjamin always does great in this match, so he can get the case as well.

Punk, to me, is the favorite. He dropped the belt in a match that had no motivation to it, and they put him over by having him lose dirty. I fear another CM Punk victory.

Although not listed, I wouldn't be surprised if MVP was the first mid-card title holder to win the match.. it's just a wild card for me, it's hard for me to see him win it right now, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Does anyone else see perhaps MVP winning it and going on to hold 2 titles at once like Angle did?

I don't know if they'll push him to the moon like that. I'd think if he cashed it in while US Champion, he'd lose. I couldn't, personally, see MVP with two belts.

If they're getting rid of one of the tag titles then you could also assume that they'll be getting rid of the US & Diva's championship over the course of the year.

Having MVP retire it would be brilliant. They could do it how they were going to do the IC title years ago. RVD won the IC belt and was supposed to face Triple H for the WHC at No Mercy 2002. He was supposed to win the belt and then retire the IC one, just like he had done the Hardcore & European titles. As it happened Kane got the IC title and lost to Triple H.

Could be a brilliant angle if done correctly.

Ah I thought they'd let Kane pull it off but I can't really see Punk maintaining a title for a long period of time... Oh well there's 25 Divas coming soon.

I really DID NOT think that WWE would let C.M. Punk win the Money in the Bank match two years in a row. Well, since last year, Jeff Hardy was supposed to win it, and Punk replaced him, maybe this is the year that Punk was really supposed to win. I'm not too happy about it, but atleast Mark Henry didn't win.

Way to go WWE..piss off the fans in the first match by having a jobber win instead of Christian, Benjamin, or Kane...

The only possibly way to make up for CM Punk's win is for him to cash it in and beat Cena tonight, but even that will still suck

I don't like the 10 guy ladder matches because they are just too staged for me. Yeah, yeah, I know it's all staged, but these multiple player ladder matches just ask the fans to suspend too much disbelief. It's really lame watching someone with no recent injury taking his sweet time walking up a ladder so that the guy outside of the ring has enough time to stop him. I can make it up a ladder in like 3 seconds...no problem. If you're going to have these "money in the bank ladder matches" they should be limited to just a few people. The last two have had some crazy spots, but the matches themselves were just so pathetically staged. I mean, I know it's staged, but don't flaunt it in my face!! At least try to make it look like the ending isn't predetermined!

Whilst watching the ppv, i noticed that just after shelton threw mvp out of the ring and landed on mark henry, kofi and somone else( cant remember who), the cameras were pulled off the carnage very quickly and they didnt show any replays at all even though it was a pretty big and impressive move. also very shortly after, referees started to yell at the remaining wrestlers? Maybe someone else was booked but was injured? cm punk winning on purpose was a little odd and quite frank repeitive and boring.

Shelton was the star of the match yet again.

I was surprised that CM Punk won again since I was really expecting MVP to win. Well, the good thing with Punk's win is that the current champions are both face, meaning it's a great chance for Punk to turn heel. I've heard so much about Punk's heel character in ROH so I really hope WWE takes that direction with him.

Punk heel ? Come on that idea is too fresh and original for Vince and his merry band of idiots who write this crap. I think a heel cocky Punk could be the guy to maybe replace HBK if its done right.

All i gotta say is poor Christian and Shelton, doomed to mid card status forever no room when Cena ,Edge, Orton and HHH need to wrestle each other 100 more times!!!!!

There were some big players in this match this year. Shelton Benjamin, MVP & Kofi Kingston spring to mind. They all had awesome spots, and pulled them off without a hitch (bar a few). Some sweet spots and it was fast paced throughout.

Really pissed off with the ending though. Why CM Punk? I like him, don't get me wrong. However, Christian, MVP or Kane would have been more interesting choices. I mean, really. It wasn't exciting when he won, and the fans didn't like it at all. They all wanted Christian to win & rightly so.

I don't understand Vince. He doesn't see Christian as a Main Eventer, but sees Punk. I like Punk, but at least Christian proved it in TNA, that he could be World Champ. Punk's reign as champ was that great because he looked weak, even though I was happy he won it. I wanted Christian to win, he been there for years, left and came back and proved he could do it in the Main Event. What does he have to do? Oh well, watch Punk win it and look weak and get kicked out of a title match.

I've come to terms with CM Punk winning twice in a row. After he grabbed the briefcase I was very confused, and kind of disappointed. I was hoping Christian or Shelton would grab it (I like MVP more than Shelton, but I figured the reason they had MVP pick up the US title was so that maybe Shelton could win the briefcase).

I think if the WWE takes their time and builds up CM Punk as a strong main event competitor instead of just throwing him onto the scene like they did last year, he could have a really good title reign and some good feuds. I would like to see him feud with Randy Orton and Legacy, I really think if the WWE does it right, that could be really special.

This match was perfect to open the show. The spots that worked went well, and the spots that got blown were covered up pretty well. Shelton's flip off the ladder was sick, as is just about anything he does in these matches. Kofi climbing the ladder that Henry was holding was also a great spot. The Unprettier spot that was blown, would've looked so much better if they stayed on the ladder, but it worked for what it was. Shelton's missed powerbomb on MVP was re-worked, and was still effective. I predicted a CM Punk victory, but was still hoping Kane would pull it off. The ending was great for me, so my grade will probably be effected by the fact it came down to my two guys going for the briefcase.

NSL Grade: A-

Heres what should've happened at Wrestlemania MITB. Christian should've won this match. Edge wins the triple threat. Christian is drafted to RAW. Christian vs Edge feud. That would be the best scenario but stupid WWE is in love with Punk instead of going with the proven veteran.

I figurerd they would go with Punk, mainly as payback for him being made to drop the WHC in such a lousy way last year at Unforgiven.Christian would have been a good choice, but he's only been back 2 months,I don't think it would be fair for him to have gone over the others. But lets not forget that it doesnt necesarily mean Ounk will be the one who cashes the MITB case in.He could easily drop it to guys like Kennedy,Jericho or even Christian.

What in the hell is CM Punk doing with the briefcase!! Shelton Benjamin has been in all 4 matches i belive?? and has been the star in every single one of them, okay he may not be the best on the mic but look at Cena and Batista, they arent the best and they are multi-time world champions

Benjamin should have had that briefcase and then given time to build himself into a genuine contender before cashing it in, i hope they do an angle where someone (maybe kennedy) challenges Punk for the case and he loses it cos i dont want another Punk title reign. Especially after his lousy Tag and IC runs
