*MERGED* RAW 900th Episode General Discussion

For what was promoted to be a historic event, an epic achievement, this raw was bland as it could be. No shocks, no surprises. Not even few lines form some of the stars of the past, or a tribute to the stars that have fallen during Raw's rise to 900.
There was nothing special about this show, nothing memorable. Even the main event was pathetic. For me, this ranks as one of the worst Raw episodes I've seen recently.
Was just expecting more.

I agree. It was a pretty...wait no it was a REALLY weak show. I understand it isn't the 1,000 show or anything but if they are going to promote it as a big deal, they needed to at least do something. However how good was CM Punk tonight?

I was completely let down by this RAW. I don't really know what I was expecting. But, this was definately not a historic episode other than the fact that it was the 900th.

Punk and Kane cut two of the best promo's of recent memory. Love how Kane is turning into a real monster for the first time in years. And Punk? That was classic. Loved the Hulkster impression by Big Show as well HAHA! can't wait to see Hogan's response to it

This should go down though as one of the first time's Cena has been Pinned in a fair match 1-2-3. Was very surprised by that one.

They teased to much, it annoyed me as CM punk was teasing that The Rock and Stone Cold would return, then with Sheamus mentioning HHH before the main event, i think this made most people expect HHH to return at the very end saving Orton and Cena. The reason i think it didn't happen was WWE want to focus on the WWE Championship match at Night of Champions, so they may have HHH return the night after Night of Champions. The only highlight of the night was the Kane/Undertaker rivalry i thought it was great how they made it seem how Kane had Undertakers powers, but i think most of us knew that Undertaker and Bret Hart weren't actually going to have a match due to Brets insurance.

Ah dear.....the number one contenders tag match was just plain fucked up. There were no surprises or special events for such an amazing milestone that WWE has been plugging down our throats for weeks. The main event was, alright I guess (I'm thrilled Barrett won it, Nexus needed that), what the hell was with Jericho and Edge?? And the segment with Del Rio coming out AS A MATCH WAS FUCKING STARTING??? The Hell??? Overall the 900th RAW let me down in a major way. I take though, two positives from it. CM Punk had one of his best nights on the mic and Orton's reputedly injured shoulder didn't look to be a massive problem. Neither nor both of these makes up for what was top to bottom by and large a lacklustre joke of a show. Waste of two hours.

the show started off sick... the nostalgic feel was awesome with kane/bret/taker... but just went downhill from there... no surprises at all... Big shows hogan impression was more embarrassing than the moments that he mentioned... i give a 10 to the start but really nexus winning again with jericho/edge being dicks AGAIN... i mean come on i just felt robbed... lazy writing for the end... I mean i understand that Nexus needed to be built up again but like do it another way... i mean undertaker thing and beating cena/orton... i dunno too many elimination matches in recent history

Horrible RAW. I'm sorry but there was nothing special at all about this and the matches were flat out bland. The best part was CM Punk's promo without a DOUBT and that wasn't even a match. You have Swagger/Bourne get interrupted.. a match that should have been showcased... and then you have a clusterfuck Bret Hart/Undertaker/Kane/Nexus.. thing..

What on earth did any of it mean??

Then we've got a main event that was lackluster and seemed way too stressed for time. I'm really disappointed in WWE and mainly Vince for not breaking out the checkbook for something special.. something to remember. This RAW was forgetful..

I too was very underwhelmed by Raw tonight. I didn't expect The Rock, I guess it was more probable that SCSA show up, but I guess not. Even the Nexus promise that they were going to do something memorable. I suppose beating down Taker with the help of Kane was the "memorable" thing. But after what they(Nexus) did in their debut, I guess I expected something a bit more. It was kinda cool to have Bret and Taker both there, since they were actually around during Raw's initial debut show, but it's too bad both are mere shells of their former selves.

But give me something, whether it was an appearance by SCSA, HHH, or hell even Vince McMahon himself. I suppose if they would have put some thought into it and made it a 3 hour show they might have had a little more time for stuff like that. The Punk promo was good, Show's Hulkster impression was good(Hulk and Show are friends so I bet Hulk's cool with it.), but overall this Raw was very ordinary.

It was basically a smackdown with a raw main event. It dissapionted me only because no suprises. Mostly everything else was good imo. But not 900th episode good... I just look at it as another raw and move on. I think everyone was expecting too much. They shouldn't celebrate every hundred episode or whatever. It was a good show for the most part and I'm fine with it.

One thing is for sure. None of my favorites will come off of tonights episode. Is this seriously the best WWE can do for a special show? That entire show was lame as hell. The main event sucked and made no sense. Nexus is getting incredibly boring to me. Raw was getting real good there for a few weeks but like I expected, this show is going right back to being the same old predictable, boring crap.

This would have to be the worst Raw I've witnessed in the 2 years since I've started watching WWE again. There weren't any big matches, no good segments (punk was alright, but nothing great). Hell, the matches they DID put on were terrible. Did we even get one true fight tonight outside of the "elimination tag match"? Even that sucked balls. Jericho leaves, Edge gets himself disqualified, and Sheamus didn't get ONE pin????? Come on.

The tag match with JoMo/RTruth vs. Rhodes/Mcintyre? That was horrid. The Divas match, well it was a divas match. They shook their asses and it was over.

In all, this should be relegated to the trash heap. You'd think when you hit 900 episodes you'd try to do SOMETHING memorable. And maybe they did....I'll remember this one as pure, unfiltered dog crap.

I couldn't agree more about the #1 contenders tag match. They had two thrown together tag teams(I guess Truth and Morrison have tagged a few times before) battling to be # 1 contenders? The Gate Crashers(Archer and Hawkins) or the Dude Busters should have been part of any #1 contenders match. Heck, atleast give us Santino and Koslov or the Usos.

I was not impressed at all with Raw. The opening segment was cool, as some have said it was almost nostalgic. However when the Taker vs. Hart match was announced I rolled my eyes. Right away I knew as I am sure most of you did that they couldn't do anything with this match except run-ins and interference. And it did nothing for Raw, all it did was set up a continuing storyline on Smackdown, that boggles me.

Then out of nowhere we have a triple threat tag team match, it was pretty entertaining, I'll give it that and it made The Miz and his rookie look great. So that match was ok, but it was just there.

I skipped the divas match. I honestly don't care about the divas anymore, they might be hot and shit, but whatever, they have been annoying as hell lately. I could care less that Melina is back too, didn't miss her. Don't care that the titles are going to be unified.

So we have a Raw tag team and a Smackdown tag team that each person has a little history with are supposed to wrestle for the number one contendership right? So no realy storyline here at all for these two teams to just end up brawling. That was a huge let down, and it was confusing as hell. Again added nothing to the show at all.

As we knew the Hart vs. Taker match wouldn't happen, so Kane comes out, Kane dissappears, Nexus come out and beat on Taker, Kane laughs. Ok so this furthers no storyline on Raw. So Nexus beat down Undertaker... but the lights had to be off. It didn't even make Nexus look strong at all, the whole segment was again confusing and frustrating, it was a huge let down.

Swagger vs. Bourne with Del Rio running in.... again, nothing was done to fucking further any Raw storylines. What the hell, this is the 900th episode of RAW, not Smackdown. So this Del Rio comes out, wants to show Raw what he is all about and then fails to do any real damage to Bourne, so what did he show us and what did it accomplish? NOTHING!

Even though the SES/Big Show segment was very entertaining and got my hopes of a Stone Cold appearance up, again it did nothing to further any storylines for Raw heading towards Night Of Champions. But at least it was entertaining.

At leas the main event was about Raw storylines and it furthered said storylines, one of the only freaking segment/matches to do so tonight. I swear though I could hear the audience laughing when Edge got DQ'ed. Kudos to Sheamus for stepping it up tonight and kicking some major fucking ass. Cena looked good and tool a finisher and was pinned, nice surprise. Orton looked awesome as always and Barrett getting the win was good. However as good as the main event was, it did nothing over all to save the show in my opinion.

Tonight's Raw was a mess, it had no direction, it built storylines for Smackdown and not Raw. It had no surprises really, at least big ones. It was just not a good show tonight. I hope they do better next week.

Tonight's RAW was a perfect example of why I root for TNA to succeed. If WWE had real competition putting pressure on them every week, maybe Vince would feel the urgency to do something big on what is supposed to be a momentous show. As it is, we got a decent show, but one that was booked lazily. WWE is falling in love with the DQ/count out finishes, so much so that they used 2 of them in title matches @ one of the biggest PPVs of the year. If they're going to do it @ SummerSlam, of course they'll do it on RAW. I think Rhodes & McIntyre could be a good team, but why not let them win? Hell, you could've had their win lead to a heel turn for Morrison, which is necessary if he is ever going to reach his potential. The elimination match was fine, as was the triple threat tag match. But Vince couldn't get 1 big star from the past to make an appearance? I thought this was supposed to be a historic show? You couldn't even get a taped message from someone? Thoroughly mediocre, which is a perfect fit for today's WWE product.

Compared to the RAW 15th anniversary a few years back this even was a real disappointment. I actually avoided any and all spoilers in preparation to be surprised by superstar returns and/or storyline leaks. Boy was I surprised, but for all the wrong reasons. And it's a real shame too as RAW has been pretty great all summer. What a lackluster way to end it. It wasn't a total disaster but even the few bright spots—once Jericho leaves CM Punk will officially be the best heel in WWE and tonight proved it—weren't enough to balance out all the consistent negatives.

God, this fuckin' show sucks. I swear on everything I own, I have no idea how so many of you can rag on me for supporting TNA and watching iMPACT! which apparently "makes no sense", yet you actually support and enjoy this inconsequential malarky.

I'd rather watch an 85-year old Sting and a 112-year old Flair go at it in wheelchairs than watch a fucking match that has anything to do with Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston or more than half of Nexus.

What exactly was so "special" about this, considering it was supposed to be some kind of milestone achievement? The best segments of the show were the ones when they showed segments from years prior, especially the segments from prior to 2000 – that, and CM Punk, who's in a league of his own in that pathetic company.

Well all that hype for a major letdown of a show. It was a solid show but it was so much like other RAWs that have been going on this week that if I didn't know any better and they didn't have a 900 in their symbol I would have thought there was nothing significant about it at all. However I will say the edition of SmackDown stars would have raised some sort of suspicion.

A decent opening to the show with Kane, Bret Hart and Undertaker. An decent little triple threat tag team match between Kofi/McGillicutty, Miz/Riley, and Bryan/Kaval. Which i think was followed by a meh divas match, but hey at least they announced that they are going to unify the women's titles. Then we got a no finish in a number one contenders tag tam match for Night of Champions and didn't get to figure out who would challenge for them at the event (Rhodes/McIntyre vs. Truth/Morrison). Then we seen a Nexus and Kane beat down of Undertaker. A random match featuring Swagger and Bourne only for Alberto Del Rio to have all screen time basically. Finally ending with a rushed tag team main event match with Nexus winning finally.

Seems like an overly average and normal addition of RAW to me minus the great CM Punk promo in the middle of the show. Other than that everything was just same old, same old and unlike Michael Cole said this 900th episodic installment of RAW will not be remembered for generations.

This was a mediocre Raw to be sure. The opening segment was decent. I like how Bret Hart paid homage to Raven by wearing his old ring attire.

The CM Punk promo was damned good. He is so at ease on the mic and delivers his lines with conviction and panache. I loved when he got in the Big Show's face and said "Nobody likes you." First time I've laughed out loud while watching Raw in years.

I'm glad Michael Cole and King take pride in Raw having more episodes than "Friends." The WWE's constant kissing of it's own ass was the most annoying aspect of the show. "For Jersey Shore to reach 900 episodes it would have to be on until 2083. Snookie would be older than Betty White!" Who cares?

This 900th RAW was the worst RAW I have ever witnessed in recent memory. CM Punk could not even save the show with his amazing promo, Daniel Bryan and Kaval only had about 2 min of ring time, and the whole show was just so random. Alberto Del Rio came out as a match was starting, Mark Henry coming out was just dumb, and the lights going out at least 5 times was annoying. Edge and Jericho leaving the match was just stupid really because Y2J could have turned face like he did at that house show. And that number one contender's match was just a waste of time. This RAW barely earns a 1/10, but at least there was no Hornswoggle. LMAO even CM Punk thought that the show was crap from hearing his promo. What I do not understand is why didn't they have Matt and Christian team up to face Drew and Cody? They should have had Matt and Christian get the win and bring prestige back to the titles.

I found it very funny that WWE scripted Punk to say "nobody knows who that other guy is"

Let me remind you that Brock Lesnar is at the moment a bigger draw than anyone in WWE bar maybe John Cena.

I did not mind videos of Stone Cold and The Rock as they were a part of WWE Raw and easily the 2 biggest stars of the show, but the problem was how they teased the crowd, CM Punk asking the crowd whether they missed the Rock and Stone Cold came off as burying WWE.

Nobody was asking in 1998 whether people missed Hogan, Savage or any other former top star, people were too into Stone Cold, Rock, DX at the time.

However by far the worst thing in that episode is the whole Nexus angle, it seems to me that half of the people in power at WWE know and want to put Nexus over as a threat, but equally the other half does not. So what we get is a bunch of "fluke" wins, Barret made to look like a total chump against Taker in essentially a 5vs1 segment where they needed Kane's help.

They gave the win to Nexus at the end, realising what a collossal mistake they made at Summerslam, its just too late. Nexus are not seen as a threat as they were when they debuted by beating down Cena, people are not affraid of them or see them as seriously as they once did.

It is going to take a miracle to get Nexus back to where it was just 2 months ago, they made the same mistake with SES, they made them look like complete jokes, nobody takes them seriously anymore and only reason people even pay attention to them is because Punk is so good on the mic that he can at least draw some kind of interest, but make no mistake.

Not a single person believes SES could take on Triple H or Big Show
Not a single person believes the entire Nexus could really take on Taker or Cena.

What was good about the 900th episode of RAW? CM Punk, who WWE immediately needs to push as their top heel in the company. From his entrance, to his mic work, to his in-ring ability... Punk epitomizes everything a "bad guy" should be. He's even likable to a certain extent, which is really hard to pull off. A number of his lines made me laugh out loud, something that doesn't happen often with WWE programming (barring Sheamus "who ate all the pies" comment to that kid last week).

Justin Gabriel getting the duke over John Cena was also a nice surprise. The inclusion of both Kurt Angle and especially Mick Foley in the "remember when" segments also showed that WWE has a spine when it comes to former talent that now works for TNA.

What wasn't so hot? Generally speaking, everything else. The false starts, double count-outs, and DQ finishes were not befitting of such a special, momentous occasion. If they couldn't get Stone Cold or the Rock to appear on the show, why hype them several times throughout the evening? I guess the surprise was that they weren't showing up? Whatever you say Vince.

The biggest disappointment was the lack of Jim Ross. Cole-bot name dropped him no less than 5 times, even doing his "Stone Cold! Stone Cold! Stone Cold!" bit at one point. Long time fans waited... and waited... and waited some more, and yet no Jim Ross. I know WWE doesn't want him on camera anymore, and for some odd reason they just simply can't have the guy behind the mic. But c'mon, it's the 900th episode. The guy is currently under contract and the pop for him would've been huge. Yet, WWE feels the need to hold back what could've been an appropriate, let alone incredible, moment on the 900th episode of a show that Ross was instrumental in making successful.

For current WWE fans, the show was probably fine all around. For long-time fans hoping for a bit of nostalgia in the form of some surprise appearances by the folks still close with the company, it was an incredible disappointment.

Lately I am playing CO-OP game with my girlfriend on my PS3. They hyped that show so hard that I decided to watch Raw for the surprise instead of playing, by 11h30 when it was over I wished I had played my PS3 either. God that was awful, not even one surprise and having to hear Cole say that the main event that was next would had to the unfrogettable nature of that episode, are you kidding me? Do you even believe it or are just fed by Vince?

This show was pathetic as a 900th episode and ok as a Raw. CM Punk promo was awesome but why hype The Rock and SCSA if they are not coming at all. I mean it's ok to tease them even if they don't come but you need a 3rd name to shut Punk down and that name is not supposed to be Big Show. Punk said it good when he said I teased you with Austin and all you get is Big Show.

And for the people talking about the SES I've been saying it to my gf lately, the WWE don't know how to use a stable anymore. Lately they use a stable when they have no story for a main eventer instead of using it to help younger/less over star to get over by teaming them with a big name. SES should have had the Woman title, the tag title and the world title, they are 4 vs 1 or 2 and then you have another faction unite to face them and get everyone over. Except you have them job to Big Show who's been one of the biggest jobber in the last years so where are SES suppose to be. I don't care that the guy is 7 feet tall and 500 pounds if we are 3 against him he is going them, otherwise we are chump.

Am I the only one who can't stand LayCool? I am embarassed to watch them when they come out they act so juvenile, maybe they want high school girl to hate them because they are like the bitch at their school but to me they are pathetic and are overacting I just want to beat them both. Well more Layla she is overacting, McCool can't act.

I think I will stop there before mentionning the lack of wrestling in most matches even more Bryan and Kaval and the rush main event or the dumb #1 tag team contender without the Usos who are now stuck in comedy segment because of Santino and Tamina.

Glad I am watching TNA now, I can't barely watch Raw lately and with the show I watched yesterday that was suppose to be special I don't feel the need to watch Raw more. Smackdown! is good because of Del Rio and Punk but that's all.

Admittedly, it didn't feel like a special show but I thought it was a fun, solid show. I was never expecting any huge surprises so that probably why I'm not as disappointed with it as some people are. The wrestling wasn't great but the Kane/Taker stuff and the Punk Promo was good and it's not surprising that the show lacked wrestling considering they only had two hours for the show.

Wow, I expected so much more from this show...

So they teased The Rock and Stone Cold to come back, and that never happened. (not that I thought it would) The Y2J never happened, WWE legends never happened. The best part of the show was CM Punk's promo. The Big Show made a weird Hogan impression...

This is the first time in my IWC days that I have EVER complained about a RAW. I can't believe that they teased so much, and nothing happened. This was just like a regular RAW, but it was worse. Thanks WWE.

Hopefully, they will make it up to us with a better PPV or another RAW show.
