IMPACT Wrestling LD for 08.11.11

Really? TNA spends 5 minutes introducing everyone to the ring but a commercial break just at the start of the match? Thats kinda stupid.

I am going to treat that Direct Auto Insurance commercial as a planned comedy segment. Very successful.

I know, right?! Then we can all go back to complaining about Jeff Jarrett and Dutch Mantel.

Dude I would GLADLY take Jarrett and Dutch over Russo/Bischoff/Hogan man, any day of the week. They actually give a fuck about in-ring action and the actual wrestling itself. I'd take them in a heartbeat bro, they worked pretty well together booking the X-Division for a few years. Their main event booking was meh and all focused on Jarrett, but otherwise, I thought they made a pretty decent team. Certainly better HogRusOff....which is now my new name for the three-headed monster.

AJ/Daniels at No Surrender automatically adds a great match, albeit one that doesn't have all that much impact on the main stories going on in the company. Great filler, though.

They also put everything on a pole to determine the winner of like 30% of their matches.

No thanks.

What does TNA gain by getting rid of Bischoff?

I'm more concerned with what I as a fan want to see in a program than what TNA thinks is best for business. You're right, they wouldn't gain anything by firing Bischoff. But it would make me quite happy knowing he and his crew are gone. That's the only thing I was saying SD, nothing about business implications.

Pretty decent 4way here so far.

The only people who hate Bischoff, Russo and Hogan are smarks who will watch wrestling no matter who is in charge and often no matter how bad the show becomes, which means every decision to keep or lose an official behind the scenes should be based purely on whether or not it's good for business, not whether or not the ten percenters are tired of seeing them or not.

I love how Tenay called Roode's spinebuster the "Double R" spinebuster. It's definitely similar to Double A's spinebuster so it's sort of a nice homage.

I would much rather have Bischoff than Hogan and Russo. A least Bischof knows more about marketing. Russo's booking is inexcusable and Hogan just can't take himself out of the spotlight

I've enjoyed Devon's matches much more than Bully Rays as of late. Why didn't Devon get that Immortal "rub?"

Has an individual without those qualities ever successfully run a mainstream wrestling company?

Probably not, but the man in question certain let those qualities overwhelm him and cause him to run a company into the ground after he built it into a power. I'm not a fan of Bischoff, I never will be, and his inclusion in the nWo ruined the entire thing for me (since his inclusion meant the group expanded to have worthless members and lost the "elite" aspect to it). I find him insufferable and I tried to read his book to change my opinion of him and it only got worse.

Call me what you will, but I truly believe that wrestling would be better off without Eric Bischoff around it. I know we'll talk about production and Bischoff/Hervey stuff, but Bischoff near a wrestling program I enjoy? Please no.

No, no, no, a thousand times no. Dude go back and watch Russo's WCW run. It was the most godawful piece of shit fucking wrestling show I've EVER seen in my life. Nitro under Russo made fuckin' AWA in 1990 or Herb Abrams UWF look epic in comparison. Trust me bro, I've gone back and watched a shitload of Nitros, Thunders, and PPVs from 2000 in WCW over the last few months for my blog and I've seen literally months upon months pass in that company under Russo's reign without a SINGLE good match happening. Not one. Not even one good little 5 minute cruiserweight match, no, just nothing. To see a match go over 5 minutes was a true rarity.

If anything I'm underrating just how awful the Bischoff/Russo/Hogan team is. The fact that TNA has managed to maintain their fanbase under those three is miraculous to me.

I'm not even really trying to shit on "TNA" here though. Just those three guys. Fuck those three, in the ass, with a twenty foot spiked ***** of doom. I hope they get hit by a car tomorrow and their children develop leprosy.

Personal tastes v. good for business. Good for business wins.
