Impact Wrestling LD for 05.19.11

Anderson actually looks like old school Sting!

Oh, and he was somewhat entertaining tonight and he didn't say a word. Coincidence? I think not.

This whole thing, the new color, the new lighting, the new arena setting, the new slogan, the new name is all becuase WWE rebranded and shortened their name from World Wrestling Entertainment to WWE.

Actually, the re-brand has been in the works for over the year. Do some research, please.

Surreal.

Decent show. Felt like there was more wrestling, lacked any kind of killer segment or a strong main event though.

Grass is green, sky is blue, Captain Obvious is currently you.

There were certainly some smaller changes. What were you expecting them to realistically do? Become ROH:confused: Of course it is still largely the same show. No matter what you believe they have no compelling reason to make huge changes to the product. They just need to up the awareness and this campaign is an interesting way to go about it and they have some pretty decent stories going.

They have put out a lot of good promo videos for the rebranding. I do not know if it is that former wwf guy or bischoff but the production values keep getting better.

Yeah..the set, the logo, the colors, which is what I said in my last post.

What were you expecting them to realistically do?

Me? What was I expecting? Doesn't matter what I was expecting. They brought in Foley to (kayfabe) change the show. THEY told us everything was going to change. This isn't my fault.

But, no, I didn't expect a lot of changes, and they certainly lived up to those expectations. And no SD, I didn't think it was going to be ROH, I don't even watch ROH. But, I didn't expect the X-Division to be destroyed, Foley to not even show up, and a bunch of short, garbage matches. When you change your logo, by choice, to Wrestling Matters, and make a huge deal out of it, maybe the wrestling should...I don't know, actually matter. It didn't. Nothing changed.

Obviously those in charge feel differently. Or maybe they don't, who knows. I don't think they know what they want.

Is this an interesting way to go about it? They changed the set. Wow, fucking amazing. Creative stuff right there. Foley was brought in to implement big changes, shoot down the garbage Bischoff/Hogan are pulling, etc. None of that happened. I don't expect everything to happen in one show, but Foley and Hogan weren't even there, for fucks sake.

I really like the new intro video a lot.

I did as well. I almost always like their video packages.

"No compelling reason to make changes to their product"

Yes kids, TNA marks actually believe that line. Nevermind that TNA execs themselves feel the need to make changes to their product, no, SD knows better than the people in charge of the company here.
