Euro 2016

Gareth Bale really has perfected the "do nothing for most of the game, make one contribution, get called world class" at these Euros.

He hasn't even been the best player in his team, let alone in the tournament.

Hell of a goal from Shaqiri. What the fuck was that penalty.

I understand what you mean about Bale, but his one moment of brilliance in the game last night is why Wales are in the quarter finals.

Italy vs. Germany in the Quarter Finals... The two best teams in the tournament. That's gonna be goooood.

I'm not sure anyone can break down a full-strength Italy at the moment. I mean, Ireland were playing a team that didn't need to get out of 2nd gear. But they just dominated a good Spain side.

Speaking of which, fair play to Spain. Y'all had a good run.

Edit: Also, you guys should put some money on Italy now, while they're still listed as being 20/1.

Would I be wrong in saying that England have only won 5 knockout games at major tournaments since the final in 1966?

And only two of those were in 90mins?

Paraguay, 1986; Belgium (AET) and Cameroon (AET), 1990; Spain (pens), 1996; Denmark, 2002

Six. They beat Ecuador in the second round of the 2006 World Cup.

But waiting 20 years for a knockout win from '66 to '86 is insane.

From Twitter, highlights of Harry Kane tonight:

Roy was in fact most payed GM of the tournament. Fact that he was beaten against country that has just over 300k people who has their best player at the club which barely managed to avoid relegation at PL, shows how overpriced he is. Though its England, dont think that even GM minds like Mourinho or Ser Alex could make them to pass knockout phase on big competition.

Taking a woefully mediocore team and making them champions is what Ferguson did in his last year in charge. But at least that team had RVP in it.

What I'm hearing is they're going to have Southgate in the short term and then get Wenger. I suppose coming fourth in the World Cup is much better than what they have been doing.
