WWE Survivor Series 2016 LD

How hard will it be to build a legitimate heavyweight MMA fighter back up to a frigging beast in WWE? This is a mere dent in the armor (if he's sticking around) of Brock Lesnar. It was a shocking moment I doubt anyone saw coming and Goldberg can be remembered as he was in WCW. Brock can continue to fight every now and then and build his armor back.

This is true (not being sarcastic).

My big issue is why Goldberg got this spot. Three months ago, Randy Orton returned in a match hyped up for over a month and was decimated. Instead of building up someone who is going to be sticking around, it looks like WWE is being graced by the big names every now and then. Build up someone on the roster, not someone in a video game.

Goldberg beating Lesnar is fine, just not after Lesnar has been a runaway train like he's been.

I wonder what Goldberg's kid thought about the match.

Um, dad. I waited my whole life for that? Would it have killed you to stretch it out a little longer? My attention span isn't that short.

I can understand when people can see the -bigger picture- being ruined or a wasted opportunity for a younger guy on the roster but this was a pure one off reaction by WWE and it was a home run. Randy Orton beating Brock wouldn't of had the same impact. (Although I'd have picked a better ending for Summerslam) and not many wrestlers had Goldberg's special intensity to pull something like this off.

I'd argue that it should've been swapped with the amazing match that preceded it, but that's just the hype money of it all. I doubt that this whole unbeatable run was the planned ending to it, but it was a really shocking way to do it. A big part of wrestling is the reaction they can generate from the fans, and they certainly accomplished that here with Goldberg.

I can't go with that. If Lesnar charges at Randy, gives him a quick German suplex, throws him up for the F5 and gets pulled down into an RKO for the pin in the same short amount of time, the impact and pop would have been off the chart.

I loved it. I'll take shock value every now and again. I don't need a 20 minute spotfest with two 200 lb guys. It IS entertainment, and that was entertaining. The rematch will be massive seeing Goldberg won in such a fluke like manner and Lesnar will probably murder him. Can't wait.

He's prolly been telling his son how short his bouts were anyway.

Bigger picture...

I don't know.

This doesn't make any sense for long term booking. Ye ok, Brock will build himself back, but from what? An old monster that just squashed a man who has a legit background based gimmick?

This just delays everything whilst providing a shock moment that makes lesser sense as the moment passes.

Maybe you can explain this to me:

Why do people want to see a rematch???

I think people are just conditioned to see rematches in WWE. It's all part of, for the most part, the 50/50 booking that WWE likes to use.

Undertaker was squashed by Brock Lesnar.
Cena was squashed by Brock Lesnar.
Randy Orton was squashed by Brock Lesnar.
Dean Ambrose was squashed by Brock Lesnar.
Seth Rollins was almost squashed by Brock Lesnar.

Someone needed to squash Brock Lesnar.

I can think of several reasons. Lesnar is a huge draw. Goldberg's a huge draw. People want to see more of Goldberg, which I think is obvious given his fan reaction. Goldberg won with strategy, not dominance, so this is not the end. There's definite unfinished business here. Also, you can throw out their match from 2004. I don't think that matters to anyone at this point. When people talk about Brock vs the Undertaker, they don't look back to their matches from over 10 years ago when talking about win/loss vs. One another. I think the same is true here.

I think to not have a rematch in this case would be idiotic. You'd be putting money in the toilet. Lesnar needs to beat Goldberg in a straight-up match. I don't think Lesnar needs it to be credible or anything like that, it's more about having a logical end to the story.

I know it would still make Goldberg 2-1 even if my prophecy is fulfilled (Shameless Plug).

I think it's because everyone is trying to make sense of this now that the OMFG moment is wearing off.

The best thing about a potential rematch here is you never gave anything away in the first place. This isn't a Rock vs. Cena scenario where we saw them give all they had in the first match. We haven't seen even 10% of the match they could have. If there's no rematch, I will be shocked.

But if Lesnar wins it's 2/1 booking, not 50/50.

That's why I said for the most part. We live in a world where you can lose to a guy two, three, four times, but so long as you beat them in the last match and then move onto another program, you're a winner.

They will probably have some spot at RR that leads to a Mania match with a gimmick where Brock will beat the tar out of Goldberg and all will be right in the world of WWE.

Rewatching the match is like watching a movie.

I think they're gonna go to the Lesnar diverculitis anglea, seeing as how he is clutching his mid riff throughout.

They should pull a Ortiz/Shamrock and have Goldberg go 3-0 against Lesnar.

Have someone kick a chair, damn it!

Beat you into the living death... ahahahahaha.

Can understand why people would want to see a rematch, but personally, I'd rather see something a bit more interesting happen with Lesnar. Goldberg can have his squash and ride off into the sunset being remembered as the true badass that he was in WCW, but I want to see either one of two things happen with Brock:

A: He becomes a bit less sure of himself, more vulnerable, and somebody attempts to take advantage of that. Whether it be a guy like Braun (who's due for a big push it seems) or a debuting Samoa Joe (pipe dream I know), win or lose, somebody can benefit from this.

Or

B: He rampages the next night on Raw and reasserts himself as the unstoppable Beast that he's been for the past two years, this time with an actual chip on his shoulder.

A rematch, to me, just seems almost pointless.

They should be the coaches on a WWE reality show so they can tear down some doors Rampage style.
