Actually storyline wise, it was Kane that injuried Edge during that Madiagra (sp) celebration. So taking out the Taker makes sense since that is Kane's storyline brother.

Personally, I'd rather 'Taker win the belt at Armageddon and take it to 'Mania. Whether 'Taker retains or loses the belt at 'Mania, however, I haven't decided which I'd prefer.
