I feel that Wales gave Portugal too much respect, respect that they don't really deserve. They should have gone at them from the off, even if it involved more long balls towards Robson-Kanu and Bale.

Seconded. The refereeing has been at a higher quality than the football itself most of the time. Loved seeing the side-to-side shoulder barge come back into acceptance and just a generally more physical style of play without it being dirty.
The two biggest blunders I can think of effectively cancelled each other out - soft Spain penalty award and then the Croatian goalie being well off his line when he made the save.

The game where no Portuguese player other than Ronaldo was doing anything, and the game where Wales showed how surprisingly mediocre they are without Ramsey. It made for a lame match.
Tonight's match, on the other hand...

I am a huge Messi fan and always will be, but with his international retirement and tax troubles, alongwith Ronaldo's Portugal underdog story, it does seem that Football's Face/Heel narrative has changed with regards to the two titans.

Nah, no mather as you portray CR7 and no mather how much he gave to football and even charity he still would be hated a lot and Messi would still be loved eventhough he acted like a little kid after a lost game and retired and cheated on taxes. In terms of wrestling Ronaldo is more like better version of Reigns who people love to hate. No mather what he does people just hate his guts and think he is just poser. Which is shame because in terms of accomplishments and game overall last few years he is best.
Shame that he didnt play though, Payet took care of that. Although thanks to France and their missed chances they did somehow managed to get past it and win. Wasnt the best game like all in Championship so far. And have more feeling that Portugal got his luck back from 2004 rather that they deserved it by play. But its football, ball is round.

After years of disliking Ronaldo I actually warmed to him last night. There's something about seeing a grown man like him sat on the ground, crying his eyes out, moth-on-face, dreams crumbling around him, that endear you to someone.
Football is just more about Clubs these days rather than nations.
If you didn't enjoy Hungary vs Portugal, then you're actually just not a football fan.

Glad that Portugal won. True, they won only one game in 90 minutes but they didn't lose at all, so there's that.
It still makes me laugh when people blame the lack of a winter break on England's fortunes in international competitions, because no other teams had players that play in the EPL either.
