IC, another fantastic article on Jericho/Benoit.
I understand your point totally where you talk of sympathy to Benoit. Ignoring what he did in the last few days of his life (which is unforgivable any way you look at it), you have to sympathise with the mental state of the man in the preceding few years as he watched many of his close friends and colleagues pass away. It must be heartbreaking to see so many people you care about pass so young.
I feel similar for Benoit as to how I feel for Bret Hart, as he suffered the same as Benoit, perhaps even more so with the tragic death of Owen, as well as Bulldog, Pillman, Hennig, Rude, and so many others. Wrestling has its fair share of tragedies, and Benoit and Hart have had to deal with more than most.
As for Jericho, I am extremely glad that he has made enough money from wrestling that he will be able to get out before he starts suffering the health problems that come with the business. He is smart enough and talented enough that he will know when to call it a day and will persue something else. It is great that he has other interests in his life, such as Fozzy and his TV aspirations, to prevent him having nothing to replace the business with after his retirement, leading to endless returns and staying long past his prime (Ric Flair I am looking at you), becoming a shell of what he was.
I hope Y2J can resist the urge of clinging on to his active career longer than he needs to, as much as I love seeing him perform. I do believe this will be the case though, as after seeing what has happened to so many of his peers, Jericho will call it a day before he suffers any permenant damage.
I say again IC, another magnificent article.
