IC, what are your thoughts on The Rock's last promo? Apparently I upset a few people by giving it a C-.

Not IC, but I'll tell you my thoughts. It was a step down from the last two promos, but it was still very enjoyable. Better than the C- you gave it.

Yeah, after a second watch I bumped it way up to a B+. I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention to it the first time. I was kind of put off by the weak opening.

I thought the opening was alright. You just kinda knew where it was going though, which may have taken some of the edge off of it.

Really? After the opening I was expecting another all out offensive by The Rock, but he really just used the promo to defend himself. Sure, he slipped in a few jokes about Cena throughout the promo, but he spent most of the time explaining his motivations for doing what he does and his love for the WWE.

A few people brought this up yesterday and Killjoy smartly pointed it out in rep to me, whenever we relive Rocky's old promos we see his best stuff and sort of forget about the fact that not all of his promos are 5 star performances. Sure, he's given us more 5 star promos than just about any wrestler ever, but that doesn't mean all of his promos are that terrific. This was still a good promo, but it wasn't one of The Rock's best.

Yeah I'd agree with that. He did throw some shots at Cean in there, such as the fact that it was Cena himself who started this off.

That's something I wasn't really aware of and missed when I watched the promo during RAW, and if you missed that part the rest of it sounds kind of whiny. But like I said, I caught that on the second time around and it made Rocky sound more dedicated than defensive.

I suspect he'll make one more appearance on RAW before Mania, perhaps the last RAW, to finally have that stare-down.
