I mean, he's still a face, obviously. He gets the loudest pops and people love him. But after his actions last night (tossing the flowers, mercilessly making fun of Vickie, and eventually getting drilled by Punk who was just giving him a taste of his own medicine), is Cena still a 'good guy'?
For some reason I feel that the Cena of old wouldn't have gotten so pissed if he had gotten slapped by Vickie. He probably would have shrugged it off, but man he looked ready to AA her.
Could this be WWE's attempt at making him "edgy", or less goody-goody?
Note - I thought the whole segment last night was hilarious, including the dumb fat jokes. I also love Cena; he's my third favorite wrestler.
Aright, I'm gonna respond too The good Doctor here's post, because it's pretty much the most important topic in WWE, at the moment.
While I watched RAW last night, as Cena and Jerry Lawler went tit-for-tat verbally abusing Vickie Guerrerro about her weight (Vickie's so fat ... "She wakes up in sections," "Her bathtub has stretch marks," "Her baby pictures had to be taken by satellite.") I noticed two faces.
The first was that of retired professional baseball player, Kevin Millar. You might remember him as the "Cowboy Up!" guy from the 2004 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, also known as The Idiots. Millar was seated right behind Jerry The King and he was standing up with his son in his hands (I'm not sure if anyone else noticed him or WWE acknowledged him at any point.)
While Cena and Lawler were making fun of Vickie, Millar had a bit of a raised eye brow, awkward look on his face kind of like "I thought Cena was suppose to be the good guy, not some bully."
The second face I noticed, was CM Punk's. He also seemed to have an issue about what was being said and I think he said something like "What the heck is going on" during it, but you'd have to expect the same from Punk's character anyway just because he doesn't like Cena.
The thing I find interesting is Punk has been finding issue with Cena's moral flaws as of late and I think it will be interesting to see, how far WWE goes with it. What I mean by this is Punk found fault with Cena when he was fired for jumping the guardrail and attacking the wrestlers saying that he should be arrested. Punk also talked about how Cena brutally attacked Barrett and when leaving Raw last night made a comment about Cena's vicious nature.
So what I'm wondering is, will WWE allow Punk to come out, keep the face heat he's built up, and call Cena what we all know he is ....
A PHONEY!
It seems like a storyline like this would set the foundation for Cena's heel turn, it doesn't seem very likely, but I'm interested to see what happens next.
And as for Cena being a phoney, that's what he is. That's why the kids, women like him and the men see through his bullshit. He's wrestling's version of Alex Rodriguez.
Do you think Sting or a Bret Hart(baby face) would ever come out and take joy in making fat jokes about a 40 something yr old widower? Or attack his opponents like Cena does. Check out this vid from February of a match between Cena and DiBiase. Cena was pissed about something Batista did and came out and took it out on Ted DiBiase who'd done nothing too him at the time (It probably had something to do with Marine 2, Cena's a jealous bastard.)

I don't think people dislike Cena because he's too goody goody, it's because he's a phoney. That's why they want a heel turn so badly, their tired of the facade. Cena's not going anywhere and he won't be pushed down to the midcard,(what I mean by that is that he's always going to get a good percentage of TV time) so a heel turn is the only thing you can look forward too.
The problem last night with the Vickie bashing wasn't so much about Vickie, but the message it sends to kids. If John Cena makes fat jokes, or any jokes about appearance such as Sheamus' skin tone and red heads, then it must be alright for me to do it and I'll do it because people think it's funny.
I'm hoping CM Punk some how remains face through all of this, I believe if that were the case then it could be an epic storyline, but it's probably just wishful thinking on my part. The odd thing about WWE is Cole is a huge Miz mark and apparently he is close with Cena as well (Cena hugged him when he was fired.) Would be nice to see some original, intertwined- keep you guessing, well-written storylines come back to the WWE.
But as of now, I have no idea what direction that there going in and what is on purpose and what is coincidental. And that's to be expected from a company led by a Vince McMahon, a wrestling promoter version of Roman Polanski and his son-in-law Triple H who thinks of rotting corpses as slam pigs (Katie Vick.)
