2014 MLB Playoffs LD

It's great finally getting to see the Royals in the playoffs. If Yost mismanages the Royals to a loss though it will be horrible as just making the playoffs has to have given him a huge leash for the years to come despite how maddening his decisions can be.

I'm glad the game's happening at Kauffman. Hope the fans have a big time showing. Like you said though, it's fucking cool for KC to be involved with October.

I'm pumped the Pirates are in again. And one of the hottest teams in the league. I was hoping the Mariners would make it but I think its pretty cool KC is in it.

If the Cardinals and Royals were to make it to the World Series against each other I'd be thrilled.

I'm a Cardinals fan but I have a soft spot in my heart for the Royals.

It better be. Wasn't able to win the right to buy tickets. I assume it will be though. The rally had more people than they were expecting and people in KC are excited. It is amazing what the longest playoff drought in sports can do.

Nice to see a packed house at Kauffman Stadium. I was there earlier this year and the place was maybe half full, probably not even. The fans that were there were really into the mid June game though. I remember one lady in particular, probably in her 70s, she was keeping score, knew all the ushers names, hanging on every pitch and you could tell she was there every day. I feel good for people like that tonight.

And just as I type this the A's take the lead.

Speaking of that; what'd you think of the decision to pull Shields?

Pulling Shields was the right thing to do. He didn't have his best stuff, was in trouble, it was an elimination game, and the royals have one of the best bullpens in baseball. What was wrong was putting in a rookie starter(no matter how good ventura has been) that has no experience in relief. Although in retrospect I like it because it made the game that much better after all was done.

I'm pulling for the O's and Royals in the AL. Royals are truly impressing me. Extras against the Angels right now. Big win if they can pull off the extra inning magic again.

It's nuts to think that the Orioles are playing this well without Machado, Davis and Wieters.

Moustakas takes Fernando Salas for a ride to give the Royals a 3-2 lead.

Other than his 3 month run in which he got about 20 saves for St. Louis, I never could handle watching him pitch. He just seemed like a disaster waiting to happen at all times. When we packaged him in a trade, I was ecstatic. To his credit, his season stats for the Angels look pretty impressive. I am happy for the guy; and really Moustakas' dinger just got out.

Happy to see the O's and Royals pick up wins this week. Would like to see them play in the ALCS.

It's sad how horrible the Tigers bullpen is. If the O's win Game 2 against Price I think they mine as well break out the brooms.

Losing Herrera could be a serious blow, hopefully the mri comes back negative. That being said, that was a huge win. Managing to beat Weaver on the road with Vargas proves that the Royals are good enough to beat the Angels with any pitching matchup. Even with that being the case, if the series gets to game 4 I really hope Yost gets his head out of his ass and starts Duffy over Guthrie.

Gotta hold serve here. I knew the Tigers wouldn't be an easy win, and they're handling business so far.

Being an O's/Ravens fan is going to kill me. They like to win ugly and/or dramatically too much.

Orioles may be down but they have stayed close and got to Verlander enough he likely won't last through the eighth or anything like that. If they are within a run or two when the Tigers bullpen comes in have to feel pretty good.

Also that double play was impressive.

That's the key-- grinding against these starters and getting after their relievers. I feel bad for Wei. Love that guy, very steady and consistent hand for us all season, and he just had a bad day. Hopefully Adam Jones was saving his bat for this afternoon while everybody else was getting a piece last night.
