WWE Backlash 2016 Live Discussion

Yeah man, I think it would be better if it wasn't Ibushi, but the guy that they want to build the division around, the one to beat Bray. But still, can we stop this? I think this is the mid-solution.

Semi-Finals dude not Finals.

Also why would they waste time, money & any effort on someone they won't be able to capitalize on?

It's not on someone. It on something. If Ibushi is such a big problem, use ZSJ then. I said Ibushi because he's actually one of the best in the tournament. Also Ibushi had a NXT match, without being signed. Hey, who knows, maybe Ibushi actually enjoyed his treatment and actually gave them a shot to sign.

That's true. Cena's next reign is a big one. Saving it for Mania is probably for the best.

And AJ vs. Orton could happen at Survivor Series.,

I think that is most probable and Orton will beat Wyatt to become number 1 contender soon enough. Come to think of it; AJ, Orton and Cena alongwith Ambrose... not a bad ME scene to have till Mania, is it?

An observation - were it not for Balor's injury, Bullet Club current members or alumni would hold both WWE world titles, the ROH world title, the IWGP junior tag team titles, and be number one contender to the IWGP heavyweight title.

Miss the end of the match but how cool for AJ.
The dude that declined WWE for years I bet this feels bigger to him than he expected it to.

Also those of us who always thought if he came to WWE he'd be a mid card champ at best were just proved wrong. I put myself in that category because I definitely thought if he ever left TNA and went to WWE he'd be an Intercontinental champion at most.

Also, did the WWE just gave Orton a concussion on purpose? They were the ones who had Lesnar open his head with his elbow. Makes you wonder about the crappy policy this company has sometimes.

Bryan, you can't return to the ring, you have concussions!
No chair shots to the head, or else, fines!
Randy, we're gonna have a former UFC champion open your head with his naked elbow, which will probably give you a concussion.

It certainly isn't a bad top tier. Got more starpower than Raw's for sure. RAW has a bunch of not quite there yet until Brock comes around.

It's very mind blowing that this conversation persists, but the long and short of why this doesn't work is:

1) As far as anyone knows Ibushi has a very specific contract with the WWE allowing him to work the CWC and nothing else
2) The fraction of people watching the CWC vs watching Backlash is small
3) It completely lacks story or any reason for being
4) It means that either Bray takes a loss to a newcomer who isn't even under contract, or a guy who might be able to be a part of WWE's long term plans in the cruiserweight division on Raw loses in his first match.

This isn't difficult.

I gave Ibushi as an option. Not "the only option". I would've loved to see a Cedric Alexander put in there too. I said Ibushi because he's the most charismatic and the best wrestler of the bunch, who could actually easily work an American crowd.

1) He's on a pay-per-appearance deal. CWC and NXT.
2) Hype it up then.
3) So did Kane.
4) It's a single match in a B-PPV. It would've been an helluva match and Ibushi could've easily taken a fall here. Heck it would make the Finals actually more interesting since he's being billed as this big favorite.

It was an idea and it was a better idea than Kane. Using Kane was lazy and had no point. LET ALONE have Kane BEAT Wyatt.

If done right, RAW could elevate Roman and Seth properly by the end of the year. Hopefully Finn and KO can also make it as well. Not sure who else there is, however.

But yeah, SD definitely has a strong ME scene in terms of pure star power, which is what I think they were after originally. They just managed to pick some sucky guys to fill out the midcard for some reason, whilst RAW has likes of Zayn and Neville floating in nothingness at this point.

The only reason Kane won is because Orton RKOed him furthering their feud. That alone makes what happened better than your idea.

Kane and Bray have a ton of history. The years of bad blood between them is enough explanation for why Kane would jump at the chance to beat Wyatt up one more time. He was kidnapped by Wyatt TWICE, for goodness' sake. Kane may not have been the most exciting option, but he was the most logical.

Ibushi, the un-signed cruiserweight whom most people don't know, appearing on the non-cruiserweight brand to randomly challenge Bray Wyatt because "reasons" just doesn't work, regardless of what the actual match quality would be.

It feels like you're arguing for flash over substance.

Dude isn't that what you are arguing???? Look just log off and consider yourself a winner as you go to sleep. Please do so.

So another site I went on has people calling Backlash an "Awesome show" and "the Most Fun they had in a long time"... What'd I miss?

I will sum up what happened to you, because well, you actually like to be insulted by the WWE: Bray Wyatt ASKED to have the announcement victory, but then a paper, that anybody could've written said that he would fight a No Holds Barred Match (Why?) against Kane (Why?). See? No reason. Therefore, who cares about this? Bray should've just won like Lesnar would've, to build himself up and actually pose a threat to Orton.

My idea is to actually have a better, longer match for a promised 3 hour show that wasn't. It would involve a CWC competitor, a show they want to hype up, to be brought in by the GM of SmackDown and asked to compete. If anything, Ibushi could've just said "I fight him!" like a troll in a backstage segment after hearing the news from Shane/Bryan that Orton was out.

In the match, you would tell people: "look at this fucking dude. he's crazy. look at his kicks. look at his highflying. want more? Buy the Network!" If you want to stick with Orton costing the match, then fine, it can work here too. It would be a bigger humiliation I guess, which would've actually done a better job developing the feud. But if you want Orton out of this, then have Bray beat Ibushi after an insanely good match.

That whole scenario would be really cool.....

... for a Baron Corbin win on the pre-show.

I don't even know what to say dude.

Countless people have explained to you why your idea is stupid but you have such a raging hard-on for the cruiserweights you refuse to listen to reason.

I'm done, you're not worth the headache.

Just so we're all clear, nobody actually explained anything to me. People said it was a bad idea, for reasons I refuted. That's why this is a forum, so people can debate on ideas. People said: "Why would they push a star that's going to Raw?", I said" Ibushi isn't signed by Raw". Then you said: "Why would they push someone who isn't under contract?" and I said: "It's not someone. It's something that should be a big deal, since it's exclusive WWE Network content." Then you proceeded to say: "Oh it's stupid. He isn't under contract therefore he shouldn't be on the card", to which I finally said: "It doesn't have to be him specifically. I said him because he's the favorite and credibility wise could actually put up a fight against Bray Wyatt."

I even told you all how they could've set up the match in a logical way, since Bryan (SmackDown GM) is you know, related to the Cruiserweight Tournament. You were all so dense because you feel like you can't complain about a stupid decision by WWE. I don't know what's wrong with you, but yeah, complaining is good too. Accepting a PPV match that none of you wanted to see is just being complacent with something that could've been much better.

Even Apollo Crews would've been a better choice than Kane. At least Crews would've had a significant win under his belt, while Kane is already bigger than wins/loses.
