Even though their first game was a bore to watch, I thought Iran should have gotten more credit for keeping their shape. Nigeria were poor going forward but the Iranians looked pretty solid, especially as the game went on and the butterflies subsided.

Started okay here too but the real test will be how they respond to when/if Argentina score. Keep any defeat down to a minimum and they could have a winner take all game against Bosnia on their hands.

Lavezzi made a great claim for a starting place with his appearance off the bench. Having both him and Di Maria stretching the Iran defence on both sides gave the forwards more opportunities to exploit the space in the middle. Up until his introduction, Argentina were trying to either dribble through the middle or wait for Rojo/Di Maria to pop up on the left.
