MLB Week 1 LD

Slow start for Scherzer, but no damage is a good start. We need a pitcher other then Verlander to step up.

Hughes lucked out that Youkilis was caught in no mans land. Still I'd be surprised if he lasted another inning.

Now it's time for a real opening day, one in good ol' Comerica park.
Hughes got pulled for longman Bartolo Colon. Colon has looked good.

6-5 Boston after 3 and a half. Lackey isn't lasting much longer. They might try to get one more inning out of him just so that he can get the (not deserved) win if he can make it. Good thing for the Yankees he is pitching like shit and likely wouldn't make it.

Bases loaded for Martinez. Time to make some noise in your first Tigers opener.

EDIT: Yeah the only guy he can get out atm is Texeira, who has K'd twice. I'd be surprised if they really tried to push him for another inning, especially with A-Rod, Cano, Swisher due up.

And Davies can't hit the broadside of a building right now. 2 walks in a row and 2-0 count on Martinez.

I can hope he stays in.

We'll find out now, as Bartolo is DEALING right now. 2 1-2-3 innings for the hefty righty.

Lackey is still in, and A-Rod bomb ties it up at 6.

Thank you Terry Francona. The Yankees and A-Rods Popcorn (my fantasy team) thank you greatly for your help.

That's about as good of a hit that Boesch could get without it falling down. Would be nice to get this 4th run in.

Bob Costas doesn't need to worry. Pujols will be the home run king when its all said and done, and he's as clean of a guy as we know of (so far).

Good inning for Scherzer. It's always nice to go 1-2-3 after a big hitting inning to get your teammates back to ripping the ball.

Well, both offenses seem to be for surely going above 10 today in Boston.
Colons been damn good so far. 3 innings, 1 UNearned run.

Sadly now that the Sox got that unearned Run, John Lacking is actually on the hook for the win, which he damn well doesn't deserve, as he got shelled.

At least Scherzer limited the damage to one there.

And now with the 3-4-5 part of the order up, time to put some more runs there.

Neither pitcher did anything to deserve a W. But I have a feeling this game won't end 7-6.
Colon has done great, but neither starter deserved a win. Hughes was crap, Lackey was really bad.

And you're right, chances are this game won't end 7-6. 10-7 Yankees final.....

Jhonny just barely didn't get enough to send that one gone. But he's been doing really good at bringing the runner at 3rd home with <2 outs so far this year.

It would be nice if Magglio wasn't such a defensive liability. He's still a good hitter but man I'm always nervous when a balls hit towards him.

He's lucky Scherzer bailed him out. Who's had a good day, but isn't having his best stuff yet. Still, a quality start by someone other then Verlander is a good way to open the home season.

Davies was awfully poor today. He got lucky the Tigers really only attacked him in teh first with all of the walks he had early on.

But now it's 2 on for Cabrera. Dangerous waters for KC.

Bartolo Colon leaves after 4 & 1/3 innings of great pitching (1 unearned run).

Colon might end up being one of the better unsung signings of the whole offseason. Guy's been good.

Cabrera just got another hit, but it was right at Francoer who has a good arm out in RF. Time for Martinez to take advantage of the bases loaded again.

EDIT: Just got under it, and the tigers leave 3 on. Royals are playing with fire right now.

Well it might finally be time for Boston to get off the schnide. 2 more runs and are up 9-6 in the bottom of the 7th.

as the old saying goes, it's not over til the fat lady sings.

Doesn't look too good right now, thanks to the 3rd lefty in the bullpen (behind Damaso Marte and Pedro Feliciano, both on the DL).

Obviously you can't count the Yankees out, but I just see Boston being too desperate to drop at least this game.

Strong outing by Scherzer. He's scattered some hits but hasn't given up anything that could really hurt him. With him being over 100 pitches, he'll probably leave with a QS, which I'm happy with.

And congrats to the Saux in getting off the winless meter. Sometimes the first win is the most important one, and I see that coming true for these guys.

Sox win, finally. Thank god.

Colon was good for about a month in Boston too. Then he fell apart. He'll do the same in New York. His body is made of glass.
