I got curious earlier today as to who would win awards if the season were to end today. Here are my picks...
AL MVP Miguel Cabrera| 7HR, 33 RBI, .372 AVG
Now there were a lot of choices for this one, but I went with Detroit's first baseman, Miguel Cabrera. We are a little more than 2 months into the season, and Cabrera is already leading the AL in RBI's, and has 2nd highest batting average in the American League. Sure, he isnt the power hitter that he was when he was with Florida, but I think if the season were to end today, he would have a pretty good bid for AL MVP.
AL Cy Young Phil Hughes| 5-0, 1.83 ERA, 6 ER, 39 SO
For a young kid, Phil Hughes is lights-out this season. He has the highest ERA in the AL, and is tied for first in wins in the AL. He has pitched in 6 games so far this season, and he's only given up 6 earned runs. Thats 1 run a game, and with the Yankees' offense, they will get him the win. The 39 strikeouts is a pretty good number for 6 games. Let's also not forget, he also took a perfect game bid into the 8th during one game. Hughes is probably the best pitcher in the AL right now. If the season were to end today, he would probably end up with AL Cy Young.

Now to the National League
NL MVP Andre Eithier| 7 HR, 33 RBI, .376 AVG
Eithier is leading the MLB in both RBI's and batting average. Even though he plays for the 3rd place Dodgers, his playing ability during the season so far is unmatched. Like I said, he leads the MLB in 2 of the major 3 categories. If the season were to end today, there is no reason Andre Eithier shouldnt and wouldnt win the NL MVP award.
NL Cy Young Ubaldo Jimenez| 6-1, .93 ERA, 5 ER, 49 SO
Playing for a team like the Rockies as a pitcher is very tough. Coors Field is a definite hitters park. So that makes Jimenez twice as impressive. Not only was he the first Rockie to pitch a no-hitter, which he did earlier this season, he leads the MLB in ERA, and is nat far behind Tyler Clippard of the Nationals in wins. In 8 games, he has only allowed 5 runs, and struck out 49 batters. Thats pretty damn good considering it's only May. If the season were to end today, Ubaldo Jimenez would probably beat out Lincecum for the NL Cy Young award.
