If the MLB season were to end today, Who would win awards?

Dr. Stinger A. Zoidberg

Stay in school and don't litter.
I got curious earlier today as to who would win awards if the season were to end today. Here are my picks...

AL MVP Miguel Cabrera| 7HR, 33 RBI, .372 AVG
Now there were a lot of choices for this one, but I went with Detroit's first baseman, Miguel Cabrera. We are a little more than 2 months into the season, and Cabrera is already leading the AL in RBI's, and has 2nd highest batting average in the American League. Sure, he isnt the power hitter that he was when he was with Florida, but I think if the season were to end today, he would have a pretty good bid for AL MVP.

AL Cy Young Phil Hughes| 5-0, 1.83 ERA, 6 ER, 39 SO
For a young kid, Phil Hughes is lights-out this season. He has the highest ERA in the AL, and is tied for first in wins in the AL. He has pitched in 6 games so far this season, and he's only given up 6 earned runs. Thats 1 run a game, and with the Yankees' offense, they will get him the win. The 39 strikeouts is a pretty good number for 6 games. Let's also not forget, he also took a perfect game bid into the 8th during one game. Hughes is probably the best pitcher in the AL right now. If the season were to end today, he would probably end up with AL Cy Young.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now to the National League

NL MVP Andre Eithier| 7 HR, 33 RBI, .376 AVG
Eithier is leading the MLB in both RBI's and batting average. Even though he plays for the 3rd place Dodgers, his playing ability during the season so far is unmatched. Like I said, he leads the MLB in 2 of the major 3 categories. If the season were to end today, there is no reason Andre Eithier shouldnt and wouldnt win the NL MVP award.

NL Cy Young Ubaldo Jimenez| 6-1, .93 ERA, 5 ER, 49 SO
Playing for a team like the Rockies as a pitcher is very tough. Coors Field is a definite hitters park. So that makes Jimenez twice as impressive. Not only was he the first Rockie to pitch a no-hitter, which he did earlier this season, he leads the MLB in ERA, and is nat far behind Tyler Clippard of the Nationals in wins. In 8 games, he has only allowed 5 runs, and struck out 49 batters. Thats pretty damn good considering it's only May. If the season were to end today, Ubaldo Jimenez would probably beat out Lincecum for the NL Cy Young award.

I look forward to reading your responses

I haven't watched the NL enough to name people who should win awards, so I will just give 2 names for the AL. Oh, and by the way, this is about a month and a half too early for this, bump it on July 4th, or at the absolute earliest Memorial Day. And I know I will come off as a homer, but I don't give a crap anymore, both choices are actually legit.

AL MVP: Robinson Cano: Robinson Cano was the Player of the Month for the month of April. He has been tearing the cover off the ball, and when Tex and A-Rod were struggling, is the main reason the Yanks were able to score runs early in the season.
AL Cy Young: Phil Hughes: As Stinger said, the guy is 5-0 with an ERA under 2. Hughes, if he can keep it up all season, would most likely win 20 games, and hell, maybe he'll be the one to get to 25 like everyone thought Halladay would.

AL Rookie of the year: Detroit CF Austin Jackson. I don't think this is even debatable, when you look at his stats. 27 runs, 51 hits, 10 RBI, 6 stolen bases in only 33 games, with a .354 batting average? Nobody comes close.

I'll just do the main two awards, but I agree this thread is way to early. I don't like talking about awards until the All Star Break comes around. But I shall bit and try to pick some other names.

AL Awards

Cy Young: David Price
-Hughes would be my choice, but two above said him so I figured I'd throw a new name out there. Price has been beyond excellent for the Rays early this season and right now they are the best team in all of baseball.
ERA: 2.03 IP: 48.2 CG: 1 SHO: 1 W: 5 L: 1 SO: 39

MVP: Justin Morneau
-Twins have been one of the top 3 teams in the AL thus far. And with Mauer nicked up, Morneau has been stepping it up all season.

Avg: .357 HR: 8 RBI: 23 BB: 32 OPS: 1.138 SLG: .652 OBP: .482

NL Awards

Cy Young: Tyler Clippard
-Hey I said I was gonna be different. Clippard is on track to finish the year 33-5. That is crazy. Seems like this guy wins every game for the Nats.
ERA: 1.80 IP: 25.0 W: 7 L: 1 SO: 30

MVP: Ryan Braun
-Again I would have went Ethier, but Braun is no slouch and has been the key player for the Brew this year.
Avg: .359 HR: 6 RBI: 28 BB: 18 OPS: 1.037 SLG: .594 OBP: .443 SB: 8
