MLB Week 1 LD

It wasn't like he did any good in his outing against the Tigers either. 4 ER + 6 hits in 4 IP isn't anything great.

Sox win, finally. Thank god.
About time for them.... I was actually wishing they got one before today. If they lost today (at 0-6), heads would have rolled in the media/fanbase (the organization is too smart to be so shortsighted). If they won before today, then lost, not as big a deal.

Colon was good for about a month in Boston too. Then he fell apart. He'll do the same in New York. His body is made of glass.
Colon is great for what he's doing now. Long relief. I don't expect him to last til the All Star break, and whatever he does past the end of May is gravy to me (I think he'll hold up for another month basically). By that All Star Break, they will end up trading for a starter (Felix or Liriano if they're lucky, or even convice Pettitte to come back) and then Freddy Garcia becomes the longman.

Felix isn't going anywhere. Not this year. It would be idiotic for them to get rid of him, since he (and Ichiro) are the only positives around the team right now, so letting him go wouldn't please the fans all that much, and would take away one of the best young pitchers in the game.

Valverde also shuts down the Royals in the 9th and the Tigers open up the home season with a bang and win.

I can hope, right?

And if the Yanks gave them an offer they couldn't refuse, you never know. That, or the M's could just get stupid and pull a Padre's and trade their best player for a few random prospects.

YES! A-Rods Popcorn (my fantasy team) likes that. Especially since it was a save. Now if only my bats weren't 2-18 so far with 1 homer, 2 RBI, and 3 runs so far today.

I wouldn't put out any hope on it, because you'll be disappointed.

And theres a few differences b/w the Gonzalez trade and if the Mariners made a trade. The Padres knew that they couldn't afford Gonzalez after his contract ran up (which was at the end of 2011) so they got rid of him when his stock was high and so they wouldn't end up without anything. If Seattle traded Felix this year, they'd be idiots because Felix still has 3 years on his deal after this one, is one of the two things that makes the M's watchable, and because they can still build around him and try to convince him to stay.

your best bet would be Liriano, who's certainly no Hernandez but definitely is a good middle of the rotation guy.

The Red Sox take advantage of a mishandled double play ball by Cano to bring in 3 runs and make it a 5-4 game at the end of the 4th.
