I think Woy has to shoulder a good deal of the blame too. His set up in the midfield was all wrong. Some people want to jump on Gerrard and Henderson for being anonymous but Woy had them sitting so deep that they had no chance to influence the game. The amount of times that Henderson was stood in the middle of the park without a sinner near him in the first half but wasn't given the ball was frightening.

And actually when Barkley came on and he and Henderson moved out closer to the flanks to help the full backs, England looked more dangerous.

I've understood it to be that the English players tend not to want to move away and play in other leagues and experience different styles for a sustained period of time rather than just Champions League/Europa Cup games.

Yeah, the Uruguay/Italy match next week will determine who moves on. Uruguay needs a win, Italy need a draw. Italy is even on GD, Uruguay is -1.
