Men Against Boys

Match 1 - Two Out Of Three Falls Match

Eddie Guerrero
Vs.
Dean Malenko

This match was a match that had been contested many times before, with both men sharing a mutual respect for each other after their incredible bouts in the original ECW. This match was made by Vince McMahon as a rubber from there previous battles to see which man would come out on top - This match would be contested under Two Out Of Three Falls Rules.

---

This match was a pure wrestling classic with both men showing not only their at wrestling skills, but also their high flying ability and pain threshold. It was the first fall which neither man seemed to be able to get, both men utilizing there finishers but nether man being able to get the three count.

The match really began to spark when Guerrero hit the Three Amigos, playing to the crowd as he did this. The crowd responded with a mixed reaction for Guerrero, with many chants for Malenko ringing round the arena. Guerrero applies a side headlock, slowing the pace of the match down. Malenko then attempts a Pinfall, with Guerrero still applying the headlock, but only gets a two count. Malenko then made his way back to a vertical base and pushed Guerrero into the ropes and tried to deliver a big back body drop, which Guerrero countered into a swinging neck-breaker, which still only gained him a two count. Guerrero began to get frustrated and rained punches and kicks down on Malenko, backing him into a corner. Guerrero positioned Malenko for the Hurricanrana off the top rope, which Guerrero hits, leaving Malenko down in the centre of the ring. Guerrero signals for his signature move, The Frog Splash. He goes up to the top rope, playing to the crowd, and attempts to hit the Frog Splash, but as he is Mid-Flight, Malenko rolls out of the way!

Both men were left down on the canvas, the referee beginning the ten count. The Referee reached eight before both men got to their feet, trading blows in the middle of the ring. Malenko got the upper hand, Irish whipping Guerrero off the ropes and hitting a spinning heel kick that got a two count. Malenko was building momentum, hitting numerous clotheslines and Lariats, before executing a picture perfect tilt of the world back-breaker to the delight of the crowd. Malenko then signalled for his signature move, The Powerbomb, which he hit...Straight into a Cloverleaf!!!

Guerrero tries to break free of the hold, crawling towards the ropes, to no avail as eventually Eddie tapped out and the first fall was awarded to Malenko!

Dean Malenko 1 - 0 Eddie Guerrero

Malenko chose not to play to the crowd and instead focus all his intentions on a fallen Guerrero, further punishing Guerrero's broken body with kicks to the abdomen. Malenko Irish Whipped Guerrero into the Turnbuckle, leaving Guerrero slumped on the Turnbuckle. Malenko, a look of intensity on his face, positioned Guerrero on the second turnbuckle and climbed to the ropes to attempt a Gut-Buster, which he hits! The crowd goes nuts as Malenko attempts a cover, but only gets a two count. Rival chants are heard, some shouting "Let's Go Eddie" others chanting "Ma-len-ko" as these two fan favourites did battle.

Malenko began to get frustrated after his near fall after the Gut-Buster, However Guerrero used this to his advantage, countering a Flying Body Press by catching Malenko in Mid Air and hitting a Fallaway Slam, no easy feat for a man of Guerrero's stature! Guerrero then played to the crowd before hitting an amazing 6 Suplexes on Malenko, but even this only got a two count on a resolute Malenko. The 6 suplexes left Malenko sprawled in a heap in the centre of the ring, to which Eddie stomped on Malenko to make sure that he would not counter the following move, before hitting a Five Star Frog Splash for the Pinfall and the Second Fall!

Dean Malenko 1 - 1 Eddie Guerrero

Both men now had one fall and had to fight tooth and nail for the last one that would get them the victory. Eddie was in pain after the Frog Splash as not only did Malenko take the impact, but Guerrero didn’t get all of the Frog Splash and landed painfully on his right ankle.

The referee began his count and got up to six before Guerrero got to his feet and, limping, lifted Malenko to his feet and executed numerous European Uppercuts on a dazed Malenko, who seemed to have to answer to Guerrero’s attacks. Guerrero then proceeded to Irish Whip Malenko into the turnbuckle and attempt a splash on Malenko in the corner.. But Malenko managed to get out of the way, and as Guerrero stumbled around in the ring, with Malenko climbing the top rope and executing a picture perfect cross body off the top rope, straight into a cover for a near fall. Malenko seemed to get a new lease of life after that near fall and rained down punches on Guerrero. Guerrero tried to cover up to no avail as Malenko punished him with hard right hands until he stopped and lifted Guerrero up to his feet only to Irish whip him off the ropes and hit a Tilt Of The World Backbreaker.

The action began to hot up as near falls for Malenko came after Dropkicks and Powerbombs. Malenko went for another Powerbomb which Guerrero reversed into a sunset flip pinfall for a two count. Malenko ran the ropes and went for a clothesline which Guerrero ducked under and hit a clothesline of his own. With both men down, the referee began the count, which reached five before both men were on there feet and trading blows, with Guerrero getting the advantage by blocking Malenko’s attempted right hand and pounding away at Malenko with lefts and rights, flooring “The Iceman”. Guerrero lifted Malenko up and ran the ropes, hitting a hurricanrana. Eddie picked up the pace, hitting numerous high-flying moves, getting near falls on Malenko. The crowd was at fever pitch, sensing the end of this gripping encounter.

Guerrero went back to what he does best, hitting the three amigos on Malenko. Guerrero covers Malenko for a near fall. Guerrero goes to the top rope, preparing for a five star frog splash. Just as Guerrero begins his descent, Malenko rolls out of the way and the advantage goes to Malenko. Malenko gets up first and hit’s a fall away slam for a near fall. Malenko then signals for the end of the match, much to the crowds delight. Malenko then goes for a Powerbomb, he picks Guerrero up.. But Guerrero reverses into a sunset flip pinfall attempt …1...2...3!!!! Guerrero gets the win in this hard-fought contest.

Winner: Eddie Guerrero 2-1 @ 34:57

After the match these two ring warriors pay tribute to each other, raising each others arms as a sign of their friendship, before exiting the ring to the sound a rapturous applause and heading to the back.

Match 2 - Ladder Match For Possession Of An Unknown Prize

Ultimo Dragon
Vs.
Jay Lethal

As the last two draft picks made by UWF, neither had a match scheduled on the card until McMahon had a brainwave and created this match. Both men had stated they wanted an opportunity at a title, however all three title matches had been booked beforehand so McMahon decided to prevent them from forcing themselves into the title picture just yet, but gave them extra incentive to win this ladder match…a briefcase containing an unknown prize was hanging 15ft above the ring!

---

The match began with both men trying to press the advantage with lefts and rights to their opponents, until Lethal got the advantage, raining down blows unceremoniously on Dragon, knocking him to the canvas. Lethal then posed to the crowd, shouting “Oh Yeahhh,” to a big pop, before lifting Dragon up and hitting a Snap Suplex. Lethal then went to the outside of the ring to pick up a ladder, which he slowly tried to bring back into the ring but was met with a baseball slide, knocking the ladder back into Lethal’s face. Dragon then went to work on Lethal on the outside of the ring, raining down punches and kicks on Lethal, before Irish Whipping him into the steel steps. It was Dragon’s turn to pose to the crowd to a mixed reaction, before pushing Lethal back into the ring, followed by himself and a ladder.

Dragon placed the ladder in the centre of the ring on the canvas and rolled Lethal onto it before ascending the top rope and attempting a Dragonsteiner… but Lethal rolls out of the way at the last second and Dragon lands awkwardly on the ladder. A groggy Lethal makes his way back up to his feet, rolling out of the ring to fetch another ladder which he then puts up in the middle of the ring and begins to ascend it. He gets to around the sixth step before Dragon begins to ascend the ladder, now bleeding profusely from the awkward landing on the ladder. Dragon reaches the same step as Lethal and they begin to exchange rights and lefts, both of them nearly descending to the canvas, before they both catch each other with a hard right and fall off in practically synchronisation, landing on the canvas with a loud thud.

Both superstars begin to make their way to a vertical base, hurling lefts and rights at one another, with Dragon eventually getting the advantage with a clothesline, flooring Lethal. Dragon then hit’s a giant swing on Lethal and begins to ascend the ladder that is still up in the centre of the ring. Lethal though, crawls towards the ladder and summons enough strength to push over the ladder, sending Dragon flying to the outside of the ring. Lethal then slowly makes his way to his feet and sets up the ladder in the centre of the ring, getting closer and closer to the prize until he can feel it. He begins to furiously try to unhook it as he sees a groggy Dragon trying to ascend the ladder but before Ultimo Dragon can do so, Lethal unhooks the prize and jumps off the ladder to the canvas below, clutching his newly won prize.

Winner: Jay Lethal @ 12:34

---

We find out via the commentators that Lethal’s briefcase will be opened at the next PPV and whatever is in it, he has until the end of the show to defend/invoke as ring staff come and clear the ladder from the ring in preparation for the Light Heavyweight Championship Match, which is next!

Match 3 - Light Heavyweight Championship Match

Jushin Liger
Vs.
AJ Styles
Vs.
Evan Bourne

This match was made as a treat for the fans, and boy what a treat it has the potential to be - these three High-Flyers promise to go at it tooth and nail using an array of high-flying manoeuvres much to the delight of the crowd who have come from all corners of the earth to watch the spectacle that is Night Of Legends. This match was for the Light Heavyweight Championship.

---

All three men began the match staring each other down, with Styles turning first to Evan Bourne, hitting him with hard rights, but Liger came to Bourne’s aid and he and Bourne took AJ out with a double clothesline which sent Styles rolling out of the ring onto the arena floor. Liger and Bourne were left in the ring to go at it and after some athletic exchanges where both men showed their finesse, Liger got the advantage with a running face plant on Bourne.

Liger then continued to beat down on Bourne, before Styles came in and hit a dropkick on Liger and with Bourne slumped against the bottom turnbuckle Styles showed of his high flying skills with a hurricanrana on Liger, which only got a one count. Styles then proceeded to hit a Back Body Drop on Liger, getting serious airtime on it, before posing to the crowd to the sound of great cheers before Bourne made his way back to his feet and took out Styles from behind with a clubbing blow to the back of the head before he and Liger, who had recovered from Styles’ beat down and got to his feet, hit a double DDT on Styles, leaving him down in the centre pf the ring. Liger and Bourne then rained down stomps on Styles before turning their attention to each other, going back and forth with hard rights and lefts until Liger got the advantage by hitting a few more right hands before Irish Whipping Bourne into the ropes and hitting a belly to back Suplex which sent Bourne to the other side of the ring.

Liger continued to dominate for the next few minutes, with both Bourne and Styles having no answer to Liger’s technical and high-flying ability, until Liger went for the Liger bomb on Styles but Styles reversed and landed west coast pop style on Liger and got a two count. Styles then proceeded to beat down on Liger, vicious lefts and rights keeping Liger down. Styles climbed up to the top rope and as Liger made his way back to his feet, he hit a cross body for a two count. The action became fast and furious, each man doing there utmost to become the first ever Light heavyweight champion. Each man had periods in which they dominated, keeping the other men down, but all three could not seem to get the three count they craved.

Bourne now had Liger in a position for the shooting star press, which to the crowds delight, he hit only to be thwarted at the count of two by Styles, who then hit an Ensuguri on Bourne. With Bourne dazed, Styles went up to the top rope to attempt a Spiral Tap on Liger, who was still prone in the centre of the ring. Styles went for the Spiral Tap…But just as he did so a seemingly vulnerable Liger rolled out of the way just in time, leaving Styles sprawled in a heap on the mat. All three men got to there feet at the same time and traded blows, until Bourne got the advantage, raining down forearms onto both men until he hit a Cradle Suplex on Styles for the two count. Bourne then threw Styles out to the arena floor and focused his attentions on a fallen Liger, who was slumped in the corner, with seemingly nothing left to give.

Bourne lifted Liger to his feet and hit a roundhouse followed by many kicks to the knees, leaving Liger on his knees in the centre of the ring. Bourne then hit an Ensuguri on Liger, leaving him in a heap on the mat, before ascending the top rope and hitting a Shooting Star Press for the three count and the win!!

Winner: Evan “Air” Bourne @ 18:21

We then see Bourne celebrating with his newly won Light Heavyweight Championship, until we cut to the back and see The Rock watching intently on the TV in his locker room, smiling coldly while applying elbow pads and knee pads in preparation for his match against Sting for the Pure Heavyweight Championship, Tonight!
