The Mosh Pit: The Official Metal Thread

The same can be said for Rob Zombie. His music has steadily gone down hill. Which is sad because his stage show is take crazy to see.

The worst thing about Rob Zombie's decline is that he has a kickass guitarist in John 5. This is one of his instrumental tracks

LOL, surviving a Slipknot pit is like trying surviving a battle royal. I don't think I've ever been so exhausted leaving a show then I was after leaving Slipknot when I saw them a few months back.

Was awesome and I was knackered the next day haha

John 5 and Joey on drums but yet, nothing of interest.

All I hope for is that Slipknot plays Killpop live. That'd be awesome!

Are we still talking about metal here? Because Slipknot and My Chemical Romance aren't very metal. I feel that I must remedy the thread.

I've never heard that version, I like :)
Question: is there a better Death chorus than Lack of Comprehension?

Ugh I hate when the best guys are stuck in bands where they can't improve the sounds. I'm still hoping for the planets to align and Jeff Loomis to suddenly become Megadeth's lead, I mean Arch Enemy is alright but when he can do this it makes me wonder what could be.

I think the issue with Rob is that he isnt so focused anymore on his music & its more of a side thing for him now with all the other projects he dabbles in.

Speaking of irons in the fire...

I just really hope MJK & co. get their shit sorted so Tool can finally focus on completing their latest & then him & Billy Howerdel can put the last of their APC stuff together. I heard it is half family\life obligations & half that lawsuit situation that keeps getting postponed. At least when it is finally done, I am sure it will be badass. They have not disappointed me yet.

In the meantime, you really ought to give listen to Arcane. I posted a couple video links earlier in this thread. They've filled that void Tool/APC have left while waiting for their next record. They remind me of a progressive fusion between Tool and Opeth, honestly. Jim Grey's vocal range is similar enough to MJK that there are certain times/tracks where I feel I'm listening to another one of his side projects.

Hmm Lack of Comprehension is still my favourite so I guess I'm a little biased :p

I absolutely adore Pull the Plug as a song though, it's the go to song I play when I'm chilling with my acoustic guitar since it works surprisingly well.

Crystal Mountain might not be the best, but certainly a memorable one. Simple, concise, yet totally badass.

Crystal Mountain is probably their best song music wise. But then again Death has allot of great songs.

Anyone ever listened to Control Denied?

Hadn't heard of them before... I generally don't like the power type, higher pitched vocals. Dio and Priest being the exception to the rule. They're good, just a matter of personal preference for me.

The live at Eindhoven version of Crystal Mountain was the first thing I ever heard from Death. Can't remember how I ended up listening to them but I liked it.

I've tried getting into Control Denied but I just can't for some reason.

I dig that sound, IDR. Will have to pick up some of their stuff.

I actually find Chuck's vocals to be the thing that either makes or breaks a Death song, sometimes he could be a little hard to listen to and it affected the song - the opening verse of Zero Tolerance actually makes me wince, but that's neither here nor there. The singing on Control Denied is probably the biggest reason I don't like it though if I had to nail it down with a generalisation.

Anyone here listened to TesseracT? Give the entire album of Altered State a listen, it's one of my favourite albums.

Horrible news. Thankfully the prognosis is good, but I wish the best for him, his family and his friends.

Yeah, my heart sank when I saw the headline. Fingers crossed Bruce makes a full recovery quickly.

On a totally different note, I've just ordered my ticket for the 1st day of a big free festival "Festwich" in Prestwich just outside Manchester. It's all tribute bands, but playing on the day I am going are tributes to:

Metallica (Mentallica)
Black Sabbath (Ozzbest)
Kiss (Dressed To Kill)
Faith No More (Faith No Man)
Megadeth (Megadeth UK)
Slayer (South of Heaven)
Anthrax (Scamthrax)
Limp Bizkit (Stiffbizkit)
Pantera (Pantera UK)
Foo Fighters (Flew Fighters)
Fall Out Boy (Fell Out Boy)

Plus others to be announced! Should be a good day out if the weather is decent!

So the Black Sabbath tribute act is only doing Ozzy stuff then I assume?
Also the Faith No More one is funny because that was the name they used for a bit before they changed.

So I've been listening to Periphery's two new albums Alpha and Omega. I love the song Omega, hell both albums are excellent to listen to.

I like them a lot more than their older stuff. This seems like they sat down and made a serious album instead of fucking around with whatever amuses them.

I'd probably guess that most of the stuff they'll be doing is Ozzy era stuff yeah, but I don't know for sure.

I've listened to new All That Remains and I'm just sad. They're a huge shell of their former selves. Way to much auto tune on the vocals and way to not All That Remains.

While you're at it, check out Caligula's Horse — another Jim Grey (lead vocals on Arcane) project. I believe his earlier band.

Really corny video, but a great track that should give you a foundation of their sound.

Got the new Falling In Reverse album. Really dig it. Ronnie Radke is surprisingly a versatile vocalist and deserves props for it

I just Googled them, went to the first video on YouTube for them, listened for maybe thirty seconds and immediately closed the window.

I'm not one for stereotypes, generally, but in cases like this, the look of a band can almost always tell you the sound to expect. Flat-ironed hair, heroin-chic eye make up and studded belts on everyone in the band? I'm pretty sure I know what I'm about to hear, and I'm pretty sure I know I'm gonna hate it.
