MOst people on the other board loved this week's show:

here are my thoughts i typed up prior to reading:

This show was on and off.. The wrestling was kinda long and the finishes were kinda meh. THe pretapes were strong: AJ/Christian was interesting.

I liked Sheik Abdul Bashir's promo.. damn good scripting and writing.

Jeff Jarrett, the founder, cut some good promos to start.. then he went off on Sting saying STing is trying to disrespect the young guys.. which doesn't make sense, because Sting is always for teh young ugys. It became fake and unbelievab.e

Jeff's promo got lame as time went by

KURT ANGLE - total star - his emotion and passion for his promo. Jeff is a has-been. He demands and gets respect because he's an olympic gold medalist. "Get the hell out of my ring if you're not a wrestler" - He carried TNA on his shoulders for 2 years and doesn't get a single thank you from Jeff. That was a fantastic promo and Kurt Angle needs to be on the show a hell of a lot more.

Beautiful people are a big part of the show and I find it hilarious that putting Kip with them makes Kip instantly be part of every single week's show while his partner BG doesn't get one week out of 5 months.

Mick FOley's debut was so-so... I am not really feeling this "big angle". New BLood vs MIllionaires 4/10/2000 - now that's how you start a "super angle" - total chaos - Ru$so style! TNA this week was on and off. and although there were some okay moments... I am not sure I can give this show a thumbs up.

Im not going to review the whole show. I will however give my thoughts on the thing that has been keeping my interest. That would be the return of Jeff Jarrett.

I thought Jeff came out and delivered a well thought out, heartfelt promo. It really showed what was on his mind so to speak. Calling out Sting was pretty good in my opinion as well. I like that Sting just sat back and let Jarrett do his thing. Just listening to what he had to say. Jarrett delivered every line perfectly. With passion in his voice and fire in his eyes. Talking about how the younger guys are what built T.N.A. not guys like Sting, Angle, and Booker T.

Then Kurt Angle came out. All I can say is that Kurt is fucking ACE. He is really one of the best in the business ever. Calling out Jarrett, and belittling him. It was pretty phenomenal. This was all done mind you. With Sting just watching and listening. Very interesting if you ask me that the most vocal person in all of this just sits back and listens.

Foley was cool, but it seemed too nice if you ask me. Foley needed to come in differently than that. Just my opinion though. It all seemed kind of forced.

Anyways. Great ending segment that had me fucking GLUED to my T.V. Good job T.N.A.

Jarrett sucked when he started dissing Sting though. I liked the intro.. but the promo on "boo hoo.. aj and joe built the stage" is just typical and kinda cheesy. Why are you yelling at sting? Sting is just angry for these guys for treating legends like shit... he never discredited them for what they did...

They need to do this to Hulk Hogan... but Jeff is not as good as he once was back in wcw 2000 when he was the best heel...

Kurt Angle is the best mic worker - so much passion.. and he made the promo cool when he was talking to that hick Jeff Jarrett. Sting just watched and didn't do anyting

This story isn't taking off like I want it to. New Blood vs Millionaire's Club - april 10, 2000 - watch that show - that's how you start an angle and progress week after week. That's classic Russo..

These shows lack that excitement.. i can't give this week's show a thumbs up although i am intrigued. Mick Foley's debut was okay, but not great enough imo... i am still following but i really think they need to utilize this angle better

I mean, bring all the names together at one time in one faction. when is that going to happen? When is it going to get interesting

REmember Hogan vs the new blood? he wore "F.U.N.B" - i loved that shit. Russo is writing but it's watered down.

Thing is. Jarrett has been a heel for the majority of his career. He is going to have to transition himself into doing these face promos. Then again, he is also sticking up for what he created, along with A.J. and Joe. Of course he is going to be passionate and say things like that. Its just the way it goes.
They need to do this to Hulk Hogan... but Jeff is not as good as he once was back in wcw 2000 when he was the best heel...

What the FUCK does Hogan have to do with this. He's too busy doing other things than to come to T.N.A. that I know of. Plus they could never afford him. Hogan is above T.N.A. Sorry.

Kurt Angle is the best mic worker - so much passion.. and he made the promo cool when he was talking to that hick Jeff Jarrett. Sting just watched and didn't do anyting

Kurt Angle is a very good mic worker yes. But to call him the best, thats pushing it. Hes very passionate and can do many different things. Calling him the best though, especially when you have Jarrett (Who is rusty) back. It's a bit pushing it. Also...Sting just sitting back and doing nothing, just watching and listening. Was pure genius if you ask me.

This story isn't taking off like I want it to. New Blood vs Millionaire's Club - april 10, 2000 - watch that show - that's how you start an angle and progress week after week. That's classic Russo..

Maybe because they aren't trying to blow their load all at once. You don't need to start off with a bang. Less is more. It's what got Sting so over in WCW. The Millionaires club angle in WCW was a brilliant Idea. It was executed poorly, and never really finished. All because of poor booking and storytelling.
These shows lack that excitement.. i can't give this week's show a thumbs up although i am intrigued. Mick Foley's debut was okay, but not great enough imo... i am still following but i really think they need to utilize this angle better

I don't know what you've been watching. I find myself glued to the T.V. when this angle comes on the tube. It DOES NOT need to start off with a bang. A Slow burn has a bigger payoff in the end. Mick Foley's debut was kind of shitty. He seemed out of place and forced in his delivery. Then again it was just his debut. But first impressions can mean a lot.

I mean, bring all the names together at one time in one faction. when is that going to happen? When is it going to get interesting

Paitence young grasshopper. How many times have I said in this post. Slower is better. I say it, because it's true.

REmember Hogan vs the new blood? he wore "F.U.N.B" - i loved that shit. Russo is writing but it's watered down.

That was pretty childish to be honest. Right now this storyline has more good heat to it then I thought it would. If Russo is booking it, he's doing a great job. Im hooked. Its not shock T.V. like the one in WCW. This is a pure old school vs new school feud, that so far has been executed perfectly.

Very intense promo from Joe this week, from the clip I saw of it. How did Sting get a title shot against Joe at Bound for Glory? The guys absent for a year or something, hasn't wrestled or beaten anyone significant, and suddenly he has a title shot against the champion at the biggest pay per view of TNA's year? Wow. Storyline or not that sucks for the entire TNA roster that busts their asses all year long, and other top talent that should be headlining a PPV.

I really didn't like Sting's promo (the repetition of "Joe" aside) and I really think the storyline needs to be more interesting. They should take example from Michaels vs. Jericho. There seems to be a lot of flaws and holes in this entire old vs. young storyline, especially with the introduction of Jarrett into it.

i made a post on another board referring to poeple online thinking ALL the same:

Now, a little note to Marty and RussoFan. You guys for so long have said the people who disagree with you just want to see 2 hours of non-stop, generic mat wrestling. Yet it's these people who you say don't want storylines, that for the most part are praising the hell out of this - an extended promo. In reality, the people fighting against the "Russorific" booking, for the most part, aren't against storylines. They just want GOOD storylines. Storylines they can believe in, storylines that actually seem to have true emotional investment behind them. A story like this.

Now, I'm not going to go the route of some and say Russo couldn't have wrote this. Russo could very well have written this, and if he did, he did a brilliant job, and should write like this more often. And forget the crap he's been doing. But I don't care whether it was Russo, or Jarrett, or Mantell, or Foley, or David freakin' Lynch. Like I've said before, I'm not going to single out individual writers. TNA has a booking TEAM. So when it sucks, it is the TEAM who must take the blame. And when something works out really well, as it has this week, its the TEAM who gets the credit. So, well done, TNA booking team. You've delivered drama and storytelling, in-ring and out, that I think will match up to anything else I watch this week. And that's all as a fan I'm really asking for. Keep it up.

Well, you can easily compare the shows before Ru$so came in vs today. I"m sure the "reality" aspects of the promos were Ru$so... but I did think a bit of Jeff's delivery was corny, especially when he started confronting sting about AJ/Joe.. it was cheesy becasue it's predictable.. But Kurt Angle made the save - saved the segment from being even more cheesy. The fans were starting to get out of it after sting came out.

Ru$so is very involved with the pretapes. I think the show overall was okay.. not super awesome.. but the pretapes probably saved the show.. I like the stuff like Christian/AJ.. I like PJB, but they didn't do anything this week.. but wrestle - which is okay.

MMG gave Christian the finger.

I loved Christian/AJ exchange, how AJ spoke for Christian. JB "causing trouble" - Christian says "who's team are we on?" - it made it interesting. I also liked the Bashir promo. My brother kept saying why isn't christian or booker upset they didn't get the belt, or petey upset he lost, lol

Yeah, i was kinda shocked that people would praise the last segment that much. I knew people would love Sting bringing up the old guys that people in the audience didn't know.. and Jeff bringing up "guys like AJ built this company" because that's the wrestling mindset online. But IMO, the April 10, 2000 show KILLS this show by a million times due to all the shit that went down that night, and Ru$so and Bischoff using great dialogue, and badass references.. and themes being cut off, the hummer with Bischoff/Hogan.. so many debuts, and storylines advanced. Even Bret Hart showing up at the end.. Ru#so kicked ass during WCW/WWF because he was writing the shows from top to bottom...

TNA is kinda slow and Jeff is a crappy mic worker.. but i liked a few of the "dialogue points" he had when he started before Sting came out. Kurt ANgle's promo was incredible.. dialogue was great and delivery is phenomenal

Kurt needs to be funny, serious - he needs to be on the show a hell of a lot more than he is now. I want 3D and Rhino to be used a lot better than they are now because they're big time names and 3D just re-signed

As for keyser and saying "good storylines".. the thing is.. a lot of the viewing public like a lot of the 'crazier' stuff that Rus$o is known for. Many people here try to discredit him for the other stuff he writes because they 'personally are not used to it'. but he writes for the masses. Do you know how much emotion there was not only for the attiude era but for the New BLood/Millionaire's Club - just for teh way it was done...

It's good that you liked the show - rus$so written or not.. but man.. i wanted more to happen - personally...

HEre's the thing... i find it hilarious that EVERYONE online thinks the same: people loved david flair and daffney, they all have a hard-on for paul heyman, brokeback beer money, and would constantly like the same stuff and say the exact same thing that Meltzer says.. I just find that nobody has a true opinion.

AT least on the boards that Russo used to post at.. i can say i loved a show, and people might disagree with me on specific parts - and I like to hear their opinions because I think they understand entertainment in wrestling and "get it".. Unlike here where everyone talks the same way and likes most o the traditional bs that the casual viewers will never like

Marty, the reason I loved the show had nothing to do with Dave Meltzer, Wade Keller or all of the other losers. I liked the show because of the Raw emotion. Jarrett mixed shoot in with kayfabe and that's what made his promo so interesting. It was really the first time on TNA TV that he claimed to be the founder of TNA etc etc. He was vital in getting the fans to understand the Points of View for the young guys. AJ and Samoa Joe couldn't do it because they were being booed. The third party, Jeff Jarrett had a huge pop and he was at the point an innocent bystander who got the fans to boo Sting.

Not everything in wrestling has to be "shock TV". Turns, cussing, extreme violence etc. In small doses the elements are fine. For example, the gimmick matches of TNA have been overexposed because TNA believes the fans like gimmick matches so they give it to them all the time. In the long run, that and the shock TV you speak of are destructive to the product.

As a 'lifelong' WWE fan (whilst also an avid watcher of WCW in it's heyday), I watched my first ever TNA Impact this week, broadcast here in the UK on Saturday night. And I have to say, I bloody loved it!

I have become very very bored with the WWE product in the past few months, but could never really put my finger on it...well, after watching Impact this week, I can see why now.

I thought the TNA show had great, fast paced in-ring action as opposed to the one speed stuff we are fed by the WWE. Also, Impact actually felt like a real wrestling show like I used to love back in the day of the Monday night wars, whereas WWE to me now feels like nothing more than a money-driven business that uses wrestling to sell its products.

As a short review of this week's show, having never been a fan of his in the past, I thought Jeff Jarrett's return was excellent, and he delivered a very passionate promo. Angle was spot on too. The wrestling was good, and it was amazing to see how much better in the ring and better booked the Knockouts are than the crappy Divas, who again are just a business product really aren't they? Also, I loved the appearance of Foley at the end though it was very short and ambiguous. It will be great to seem him in new surroundings though, hopefully with renewed passion.

So, in short, I think I am converted to TNA from now on as it gave me what I wanted that the WWE doesn't - a proper wrestling show!

Wow.

Why did Randy Orton get a Title shot against John Cena just for attacking Cena's father? Why was Chris Jericho in the RAW Championship Scramble Match and end up winning the Title when HBK destroyed him earlier that night? Heck, with this logic, why did El Generico get a Title shot against Nigel McGuinness on this past ROH show? The point that I am trying to make is that sometimes, and only sometimes, you really do have to throw logic out the window when it comes to wrestling. I really think that you are nitpicking and just asking for too much from something that is already looking good when you are stating that this storyline needs to be more interesting. Introducing Jarrett and the following promo after that was one of the better promos from TNA and from the reviews of it, it seems like many including the internet critics and pundits liked it too. For all intents and purposes, Jarrett's return and promo made sense. Angle was great on the mic as well. While I don't think that you are necessarily wrong in what you are saying, it is still nitpicking, and I feel that this type of nitpicking makes fans and people in the Industry (like say a Disco) roll their eyes when it comes to IWFs. You pretty much have a good thing with Jarrett's return and promo, but then some pundit comes in and says "it could be better," or in your case "it could be more interesting;" that, my fellow keyboard warrior, is nitpicking and overanalyzing.

Darkshot77's review of Impact 9/25/08

We start the show with a strong promo from Jeff Jarret, he says Mick Foley will be at Impact next week. Then we see Kurt Angle with another strong promo, and its official Jarret/Angle-Bound for Glory. Good opening segment but wrestling shows need to start with wrestling...what a strange concept.

The Rock and Rave Infection v. Abyss and Matt Morgan-Seriously how ridiculous are the Infection. They come out always are on the mic, carry Guitar Hero guitars...its really down right pathetic. Drop the intro sequence and just be rockers, instead of annoying jobbers. Black Hole on Rock, Hellavator on Rave, and the big guys win. 3D comes out and says the tag invitational will be a Monster's ball match. Watch TNA say that no other team was willing to sign up.

Awesome Kong v. Random Female-Kong Squash. Half way through the match Saied finally came out with two chairs. She promoted Kong to hit the Bomb on a chair, but then she hit Kong with a chair. I thought Saied was turning on Kong and we would finally get to see Cheerleader Melissa , but alas it was not to be. Turns out it was Roxxi impersonating Saied. So that was the Knockout segment for the day...Beautiful People left off TV.

At some point we had Karen's Angle with the instant classic refusing to pick a side after being pressured by Karen.

Beer Money Inc. v. LAX: Manager leaves town match-Certainly the 50+ Hector wasn't going to wrestle, he did the three Amigos and that was his input he then chased Jackie off. Jackie didn’t wrestle at all, there by nullifying all that James Storm said earlier about her being tough. After a shot with the beer helmet that busted Hernandez open, Beer Money won. I figured then cause they are leaning towards a LAX break up, I would really hate to see that cause I would really hate to see both men quit TNA.

Sting made another good promo but I didn’t like it cause sting is fulfilling the fact that he is old new by giving us, As JB called it, a history lesson. He did a good job it was just a boring promo. I couldn’t care less about who you learned from. Next time say something relevant.

We have Booker in his locker room as, to quote Saulman and The Shame, a Ugandan Pimp. Booker at one point said he was from Africa.....hey buddy last time I checked Texas was anywhere close to Africa. He took a couple shots a AJ.

Joe was calm in his promo, and says he will prove stuff in the ring. Lethal and Creed showed their support of Joe.

Samoa Joe v. Sheik Abdul Bashier-As much as I don’t want to say the X-Division champ got squashed, the X-Division champ got squashed. Muscle Buster for the win. After Joe said something to Sting, and choked out Bashier till the decision was reversed.

Booker T v. AJ Styles-Lost of back and forth action but Booker got the win after hitting Styles with the briefcase after a miscommunication between Styles and Christian. SO we may get Styles v. Christian in some sort of a gimmick match at BFG, who knows.

Final thoughts:The show was average nothing special in the least bit.

TNA Impact scored a 1.07 cable rating last night -- a 0.87 in M18-49, a 0.59 in P18-49, a .81 in M18-34, and an average audience of 1.4 million viewers. The show did quarter hours of 1.10, 1.04, 1.07, 1.10, 1.09, 1.08, 1.04, and 1.01.

finished the show. i fast forwarded most of the wrestling matches. i liked how sting talked about jeff calling him, him liking teh young guys until knowing some of them, and him not taking the millions of dollars offered by vince mcmahon. but when he started talkming about the legends i was like "man, the online 40+ year old geezers would love this shit". got kinda repettive and lame then.

as stated before i liked the confrontationwith kurt angle's dialogue. jeff jarrett's first minute was okay until he started boring me.

- roxxi in raeesha's costume was the twist of the show.. and i didn't see it coming.. great stuff there.

- i liked booker's promo, i liked aj referring to booker about the "accent he recently got a month ago" - that was great.

- morgan/abyss have a story. 3d are legends - i dont know how to use these guys but they need to be used better. rhino left off the show

- hector is gone from lax - he can do other stuff

- christian cage on karen was interesting. i like the christian and aj story and what side christian will join. christian/aj dissension after the show to end things.

- they took the plane crashing at the intro of bashir's theme out.. i found that hilarious when i first heard it, i guess tna read keller's stupid comments and took it to heart. fast forwarded the match, joe wins clean.. joe beats bashir up after the match to further his point. the new smashing pumpkins track sucks. i actually like tna's selection of music before like operator, bro-kin, endwell, crash anthem.

- bound for glory graphics look outstanding.

- overall, i'd say the show was "good" and "watchable". i wouldn't necessary give it a thumbs up because i'd like more humour, more twists/turns, faster story building, and more intense dialogue and action like we'd see during the new blood vs millionaries club or attitude era. things seem too scirpted, when the stuff we'd see back then had more "spontonaiety".. that's my take

- foley will be here next week, i just hope it isn't going to be boring and predictable like a number of stuff we see. i miss good entertainment. i think the last time we saw that was the beauty pageant - which i found really entertaining.

peace out

- the rating is on par with what they usually do

yeah, very slow. i loaded the tape second time around and could only watch some of kurt's dialogue, fast forwarding jeff. why is jeff such a dork.

christian interview fast forwarded second time around. it was cool to see d-von talk though after seeing the first time. roxxi as raeesha was probably the only okay part of the show. so cal interview was okay. sting's interview was okay when he talked about jeff calling him, but got SUPER cheesy when he talked about the old school guys. booker/aj did traditional wrestling interviews with a little russo twist..

but there really isn't anything super going on. joe beats bashir... clean. abyss/morgan dissension. foley's use is going to be disappointing. i dont care about beer money/jacqueline, and i dont care about hector being gone..

as i couldn't sit through any of the segments a second time, i'm giving the show a thumbs down. the show is taking themselves way too seriously for a wrestling show and i dont buy into any of the stories at this point in time. the only 'cool character' is kurt because of some of the language he used and his intensity. jeff jarrett sucks and shouldn't be back because he's boring

unless he plays a heel manager - Russo/Bischoff type of role. This is a watered-down millionaires/new blood story and not even close to being compelling as any story as the attitude era. i admire that the flow is kinda russo-esque but it's too slow and watered down for my tastes...

next week's show after reading the spoilers seems very un-eventful as well

So, the Oct 2nd edition of iMPACT is coming to a close. Foley and Angle are in the ring and Angle is bitching (as usual). He talks about all the things Jarrett said last week...about losing the TNA title, his gold medal and his wife. He then says all those things are true, but Jarrett also lost HIS wife.

For those of you who have been living under a rock, Jarrett's wife died of cancer a few months ago (which is why Jeff was taking a hiatus). Why was Angle allowed to say that on TV? This particular iMPACT was taped a week ago, so edits could've been mad, but instead it aired with Angle basically mocking the fact that Jeff's wife is dead. I'm aware that it's just adding feul to the feud, but did it really have to be taken that far? What do you think?

Did I watch an episode of Impact or a 2 hour long WWE commercial. I can't believe how often they mentioned Vince McMahon and the WWE. Foley also went on to name some current WWE Superstars and some of the major fueds going on. That was stupid TNA. Its bad enough when you try to trash talk, but even worse when you highlight the good parts of WWE. If you want to step up and eventually be on the same level, you can't mention WWE like you worship them because it just comes across as pathetic.

I didn't really like this episode of Impact overall. There were some good parts, but not enough to make up for the atrocious ending. There was no reason for Angle to somment on Jarret's wife passing like he did. It was uneeded and uncalled for. I hate it when wrestling does stuff like this, like when Orton told Mysterio that Guerreros in hell or something along thos lines. It was just, sorry to sound repetitive, pathetic. They could have found a better way to build the fued up. If they couldn't find a better way, then they need new writers.

I liked this show for the most part. there was lack of comedy except ODB tapping traci on the boobs.

Opening match had Velvet cost ODB the match. Odb later brought in Rhaka Khan to pin the beautiful people.. cool to see her wrestle. she's kinda sexy. Rhino beats up Kip James.

I really enjoyed the Jarrett segment. Jarrett is boring, but it was the actual content and dialogue that saved the segment. He talked about McMahon/the sun article and showed an ACTUAL clip of ANgle in 2006 shooting on McMahon. It was cool how JB went to Angle.. (with crowd being audible for the first time during the backstage segment) and said jarrett played that footage that he "vaguely remembered'. Jarrett said he'll beat Angle's ass so bad that even papa vince won't take him back. that was cool stuff.

ANgle is the best mic worker, imo... foley came out and said he was honoured to be in the same ring that kute kip is in. he thanked mcmahon for the opportunities and also thanked him for making it easy to leave wwe. it was a great foley promo.. angle came out to "spoil the fun". angle said some great stuff. For some odd reason, Foley praised the wwe superstars.. and said Angle beat them all. I found it EXTREMELY odd to see Mick Foley AND Kurt ANgle in the last 10 minutes of a TNA program. DAMN..

foley then said he wouldn't be commentator but he'd be special enforcer for BFG - to me, whoop dee freakin doo. You'd think Angle would intimidate Foley and Foley would beat up Angle and put a sock down his throat to end the show.. THEN announce he'll be the special enforcer.. there's no conflict to make Angle angry at this stage.

My brother said Foley came out to a ring entrance as if he was at TNA for the past five years. No special intro like a kurt angle.. no pyro.. no announcement from a tenay or anything. after commercial, they played his theme and he walked out normal.. that's funny

Lots of foley chants - typical of a new big name coming for the first time..

"other stuff that happeend on the show" - 3d/booker vs aj/lethal/christian - some dissension with aj/christian. i like aj trying to get on christian's good side. reminds me of the CLASSIC goofy aj and christian the boss and tomko the straight man era.. lethal got to talk. 3d later came out with lax and morgan/abyss and cornette said it'll be a fourway. Morgan said 3D also lost 20 times - which makes them 20 time losers. not bad promo by morgan. abyss is kinda weird in a cool way. russo is controlling this relationship- i think he helped up greatly on the jarrett segment. jarrett segments are usually extremely boring.

traci is playing the 'chick boss' of the knockout division. rough cut with roxxi.. .damn to those stitches. shiek abdul bashir pins 'normal' eric young and kinda gets int he face of the referee. lax vs mmg.. i actually found it interesting that MMG gave them the finger without them looking. MMG is on a super losing streak and it always ends with some "aftermath" - i hope they know where they're going with this.

tna is kinda toning down on the entertainment.. at this time.. what am i missing. oh the sting and joe discussion. that wasn't too bad. i think it was a strong show and i loved the jarrett segment because it had some reality... i didn't like it for jeff because he's really boring.. but i liked it for the content, dialogue.. jeff finally saying he'll beat someone's ass.. instead of cutting cheesy lame promos.

Kurt Angle confronting Foley was really good. but i wasn't completely happy with the ending being an announcement without having some action. "in 2 years, vince, you'll be kissing my ass" - i dont think that has happened.

--

yeah, Angle said "i'm not the only one that lost his wife" - whoa...

Just a quick comment really, overall i thought it was a good show but it did highlight 1 problem with TNA, the crowd!

If someone like Angle can come out and say " remember Jeff im not the only one who lost his wife!" and only mildly get boo'd than you know you have a big fucking problem They should have been boo'ing him out the building with something like that, when i heard Angle say it i actually said 'oh shit!, it was such a great thing to say to get instant heat but it barely got any

I didn't have as much of a problem with the impact crowd as some did but this just shows they need to start getting out of there if they want the pops and boo's that deserve.

they dont need to boo him that much for that. i said "damn" but a lot of the fans are not knowledgeable and know jeff lost his wife.. it was pretty intense. kurt even said "jeff jarrett is full of shit" and i liked foley mumbling "you can't say that on television"

I think the fans were reacting huge to jarrett, to angle, to foley, and even to AJ Styles and 3D. When the shows get more compelling the reactions start coming out. Everytime jarrett gets on the mic, i get scared, because for 4 years from the inception of tna he has bored the living shit out of me.

however, if there is good writing to help out, the dialogue and content will make this guy more intriguign. his segment was great because of 'what' he said and the clip he showed, rather than him in general.

here are additional comments i made on another board regarding this week's impact:

yeah, the BFG screens look amazing.. who says tna isn't high in production. could be the new studios doing that. they look phenomenal.

did LAX get on the mic? wtf?

i also want to comment on the matches being too long. there's no good reason for me to have to fast forward most of the wrestling on the show. i didn't know internet fans love roxxi. probably due to her being masculine-like. that's why they love the 'gay-type' team of beer money.

After watching iMPACT I will debate anyone who says TNA is bad at marketing. It is evident that TNA is great at marketing...the WWE. I mean they hyped Vince McMahon, Undertaker vs Edge, Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho, and Triple H vs John Cena. Some of the good parts of WWE. Instead of dodging that and staying on topic, it completely ruined my attitude towards the final segment.

It was disgusting how Angle made that comment about Jarrett's wife, Nuff Said

The matches aren't too long Marty, they just don't have enough story. Many of TNA Matches are just one big highlight reel without any real substance.

I liked Roxxi before she had a shaved head. She is cute.

Also Beer Money is extremely funny and both a future main eventers...Beer...Money

ANgle's comments aren't even harsh. He just said he wasn't the only one that "lost" his wife.. he didn't say anything more than that. it was subtle.

as for the rating:

» This weeks TNA iMPACT! telecast drew a 1.0 cable rating, with 1.3 million viewers. That number is down from the 1.1 the show did last week. The final segment with Mick Foley and Kurt Angle drew a 1.19 which turned out to be the shows best quarter hour.

Damn.. lower than last week's. I dont think anything will get the rating up for TNA and i dont know why because TNA is a shitload better than a WCW thunder and TNA has a shitload of stars. What the hell is the problem?

Just the mentioning of "It looks like I am not the only one who lost his wife". What is he trying to say, my life is as bad as yours. I don't know. Some things need to be left alone. Of course I was fine with the Airplane Sound at the beginning of Bashir's music.

Marty,

I truly think that there isn't anything TNA can do to get above a 1.2. I don't think one of their segments have gotten a 3.0 or above which means that the highest they can target is 1.2, that's their built in audience. I honestly think that the WWE crossover fans are looking for another WWE for more TV Time. It is unfortunate because at a time, TNA's product can be better than WWE's. Nothing has proven otherwise, from Russo to when D'Amore was booking. It's all about marketing I think

A few thoughts:

What was with Rhaka Khan's finisher? People praise the knockout matches but the ending to that match looked horrible. That was one of the worst looking finishers I've seen in a long time and its sad the recipient even had to sell it. And when did Khan leave the heel Petey Williams and suddenly become a face? Obviously I missed that part, hopefully there was something explained there.

Christian and AJ Styles is interesting and I think its been done well, but both of those guys are great and they should get the praise for that. Why, though, is Booker T thrown into the mix at Bound for Glory? Did they not have anything to do with him so they tossed him into a match just so he wasn't left out?

The concept of Monstr's Ball being made up of tag teams for the first time in Bound for Glory history is unique, although I really don't see why they put Morgan and Abyss together. It must simply be because they had absolutely nothing to do with either of them, pretty disappointing after all this hype of Morgan and making him out to be the "Blue Print". He hasn't been used well since his debut in TNA in my eyes.

Sting/Joe really isn't making much sense to me. Its slowly getting worse to me because this whole "respect" issue makes absolutely no sense. It has so many holes in it its coming off terribly. If that's the main event thats selling Bound for Glory I'm not sold in any way.

I really have to point out how bad the whole Jarrett segment and Foley/Angle segments were. Russo and his stupid shoot promos anger me and these were just so poorly done. Why mention Vince McMahon, the WWE, and the stars so much? I don't see the logic to promoting the "competition" and once again it shows on so many levels whats wrong with TNA right now. It reminded me of WCW back when it was horrible under Russo, and that to me is what TNA has become.. a mirror of WCW in my eyes. Years ago TNA was unique, different, and I was interested and excited to watch and pay attention for those very reasons. But more and more over the years they've taken a direction I have no interest in, and I really wish and hope they can get back to a direction I care about.

TNA also needs better advertising. Mick Foley's big debut on television (as I don't really count a video package at the very end of the show last week) and they aren't able to draw any interest, the rating was even lower then previous weeks at a 1.0, and I doubt anyone but TNA fans who watch the show were even aware of Foley being on tv or in TNA at all. To me thats TNA's biggest problem advertising and marketing.

they have so many stars. foley did a good spot on karen's angle and came out to moderate with jeff/angle
- sting came out with joe. joe headbutt sting after saying he respected him

- cute kip speared rhino through the table and got the win. when you job to kip james, you know you're below the card, lol. but yeah, this set up the match at BFG with rhino, kip, rhaka, taylor and the beautiful people.
- so let me get this straight, they split up VKM so that kip can be w/ the beautiful people and so that bg can be off TV even though he's on the wallpaper at bound for glory?

- bashir did an okay promo. booker t is a great mic worker. christian refed the main event and hit booker and hit AJ, setting up the three-way. this is going way too slow. and what's with TNA not having any action in most of their in-ring mic confrontations. Jim Cornette still annoys me. I'd like to see Russo/Glenn on TV politicing to get the head honchos out.

I also want to see ALL the stars of TNA in the ring at the same time. the show seems very 'segmented' - if kurt, jeff, foley, sting, steiner, nash, 3d, christian, rhino, morgan, vkm was all in the same ring at the same time, we'd see all the stars. they need to progress this story having real factions.. they dont do any of this, and dont really talk about the history of all these top stars enough

i like that the show seems to be booked.. but it seems to 'organized' and 'structured' - when what makes wrestling draw is spontaneity and unpredictability

january 2008 had so much comedy.. there has been no comedy and everything seems so predictable. rough cut is the tribute to the global impact pushes..

i fast forwarded most of the wrestling on the show.. but i guess it's a strong and predictable build to bfg. good to see have banners up in Chicago and teh graphics look phenomenal

10/16/2008 IMPACT Review - Freakin Kevin Nash:
-------------------------------------------------

Man.. Kevin Nash's promo was probably one of my favourite promos in TNA history.. "Unconscious Creed" - him saying the new generation is eitehr the most arrogant or the stupidest son of a bitches. him bashing the crowd, saying all their money combined dont add up to what he spends in a strip joint in a month. him saying all the guys in the audience doesn't measure up

My brothe rmarked out because it was the longest Nash promo on TV in a VERY VERY VERY long time.

I loved the Cross The Line music video - looked incredibly high budget and probably due to the new TV studios. I hope that footage ends up being the new TNA Impact intro because the current one kinda sucks IMO.

Sting cut a sorta lame babyface promo praising Joe. Steve Borden is a good guy in real life trying to put the young blood over.. Joe was nowhere to be seen.. but Sting needs to bash the competition.. call Joe a fatass muddafucker or something... But AJ comes out.. they talk a bit about his father and that leads to a new wrestling feud. Kurt Angle's stuff was good because they were kinda spontaneous. Last week I said TNA's shows are too "structured" and too written.. Angle coming out and beating up MMG/Dutt was good.. him on the mic was good

Him and Jeff were good. .. this continues the feud. I like Jeff as owner.. Foley retires.. but by the end of the night he's going to make a huge deal.. my brother said he'll probably be commishener or something. That's live next week from Las Vegas. They hyped next week's show like they usually do a PPV - with the graphics. They need to hype next week's show much more - not next week's specifically but every week they have a show they need to be hyping the next week's show - is what i mean. I'm looking forward to next week - booker reveals the contents of the briefcase.

News reports said PJB were off the show, but footage backstage showed Angle beating them up - possibly taped. Christian and Rhino were left off the show. Christian may be gone, which may hurt..

Roxxi cut a great promo.. swearing and all. I miss bad language in wrestling. The last thing I want to see is watered down dialogue.

Booker beats Hernandez due to distraction/briefcase

I loved Kevin Nash's match. Creed is a goody 2 shoes. I actually enjoy watcihng Nash wrestle. I dont know what workrate is, etc, but I just mark out when the guy does his elbows, his knee to the ropes.. and his crazy-ass powerbomb. He called the fans stupid to cheer for him and he's the best thing going today. I still ask myself "i can't believe this guy is still around" - in a good way - I'm a fan of Kevin Nash. probably my favourite wrestler because he cuts the best promos... and i dont see anything wrong with his "workrate" - fuck the critics online

Kurt Angle pins Matt Morgan after a sloppy angle slam.. it's hard to do an angle slam on a 6'10'' guy... abyss comes out, all burned and angle ambushes him. foley says next week will be huge

I think the show was good overall. I kinda fast forwarded some of the matches due them being boring. I think the only one I cared about was Nash and sat through that in full. 3D talked about whipping ass.. Matt MOrgan talked and apologized about getting his friend Chris Parks into the match. There isn't any comedy

I loved the TNA HD "Cross The Line" music video. Looks top notch..

Turning Point is the next PPV: i predict Jarrett/Angle re-match after Angle gets him to agree (again), maybe Nash vs Joe, AJ Styles vs Sting - or maybe multiple six mans. They need to have all the factions together. and the big names shitting on the young guys.. young guys need to ambush the old guys..

My brother said there should be Sting vs a "new Sting" lol.. dressed all young.. like oldschool WCW. It'll be kinda like the undertakers facing off.. i miss the comedy... and i do think the show needs more reality, more chaos, comedy, unpredictability, and spontaneity..

Good show though. not totally awesome becasue each segment is kinda predictable.. the only thing that caught me off guard and entertained me was Nash's promo.. - VIP of the night.. and you don't need "great workrate"

- I just wanted to also give props to AJ Styles.. THis guy HAS been here since day one. I dont know anyone else that has been here since day one and all the way up to today without a leave of absense. Abyss was Prince Justice but he returned to TNA in 2004 or so. Jeff took two years off. Daniels was off and on during the 2003-2004 period.. and wasn't on the first show i believe.

James Storm is the only other guy I think that was there since Day One. Damn.. AJ Styles it the face of TNA!

I dont know how TNA can manage using all the talent for their roster. but i like the veterans and i do like the young guys, i just want the show to not be so structured. it's good that it's written like that, but i want more chaos and a more spontaneous show. and maybe more exciting stories.. i dunno... more swerves..

christy hemme/beautiful people segment was kinda cringeworthy due to hemme' but she made up for it due to her promo.. she's angry....

Not bad, actually. You might actually say I enjoyed it.

Show starts off with The Guns taking on Bashir and Dutt. Dutt's actually not that bad a heel and he's suddenly got really fucking ripped after doing a Jericho and losing the tights. Nice opener and I marked the fuck out when Shelley got the hot tag and cleared house. Nice to see this whole heel turn bullshit has seemingly been aborted and is currently being used for stem cell research. Naturally, I didn't think The Guns would win and so was praying for a dirty finish as a best case scenario. They scored a win. I couldn't fucking believe it. Yeah, Angle then came and beat the shit out of them but he did that to everyone.

Sting's segment was actually pretty good. Shame the iMPACT! Zone can't decide who to back and is now apparently adopting the stance of complete indifference. I heard fucking crickets, I swear. Naturally, was pretty pleased when Styles made his entrance and bitch slapped the make up off his face. Fuck I hope he's the one that takes the title off Sting. Would be off the fucking charts. Don't get me wrong, Sting would be a worthy champion if he didn't have a record of misplacing the title ten seconds after winning the fucking thing.

Had a great time watching Angle treat Eric, Shark Boy and Curry Man to a forearm sandwich each, then going for Rock 'n' Rave. I wish he'd chosen Don West to beat with a shoe though, it was infuriating having Krystal or whatever do the announcing in place of whoever got beaten up. Why no JB? I like JB. Ends up with Kurt revealing he's a pedo in front of the world. At least I think that's what he was getting at. Jeff didn't take it lightly.

Women's match was pretty good. If it wasn't just cut and paste with these storylines I might have cared. Malissa got a couple of curb stomps in, was pretty entertaining. Predictable finish - one that I've seen for the last year over and over. Face wins match, Kong destroys them.

Booker T vs. Hernandez. Neither man looked weak which was good. I was genuinely interested to see how far Supermex could throw Booker with the Border Toss, shame about that. Dirty finish was the way to go. Oh, and I'm new to this whole African accent Booker has. The fuck is that?

TNA bombarded me with adverts for Bound For Glory throughout. Do they not fucking realise it's been and gone? Sick of that Smashing Pumpkins track. I might actually watch BFG though. Obviously, even editing can't take away the absolute poorness that is Kevin Nash's interference but it made Joe look like a force to be reckoned with.

And speaking of Nash. It's time he faced the Consequences. Shame Angle sent all the jobbers to the hospital and Creed had to take their place. As for workrate, I don't think three clotheslines, a club to the back and powerbomb constitutes a blistering workrate but what do I know? I'm just one of those picky guys that likes my wrestlers to have operational knees. Nash cuts a really cliched promo after - I turned heel suddenly and now I don't like fans, who are stupid and poor. Bravo.

Foley says bye. I know he's lying so I don't care. Still like him though, he just comes off as a genuinely nice guy. He promises that they'll be an announcement that will shake the wrestling world. Unless he's convinced The Rock to sign I don't think it will. Maybe something to do with Cactus Jack.

Main event. Kurt made Morgan look good, which is more than he deserves, but picked up the win. Right choice. I was praying it wouldn't be another Tomko fiasco and, though it came close, it wasn't. Abyss looks like the sillyest motherfucker I ever did see. Him tottering down in his nice shirt and jeans is my pick for best moment of unintentional comedy of the year. The team of him and Morgan is fucking stupid, unless he drops his demented ****** gimmick. Angle gave him a well-deserved kicking.

Overall, 3 out of 5 stars. Points deducted for Kevin Nash being allowed on camera.

Live Impact -

I didn't really like the show as a whole. Everything was wrestling wrestling wrestling. There was NO COMEDY. NO ENTERTAINMENT whatsoever. I remember TNA used to have most of the show having some entertainment humour.. Today, it was all belt this, aj/joe developed this.. and repetitive statement after statement. Russo has very little control over the show right now.

Main Event Mafia beatdown was okay, but Mick Foley's promo at the end made no sense. He's partial owner of the company? Obviously that isn't true.. Nobody cares... he started rambling on and ended with Kurt is free to stay or leave?? that's the big ending?

The main event led to Nash winning after nailing Joe with the belt. I love that all the big stars are together.. and the backstage semgnet with MEM was okay... but everything else was lame...

They have so many huge names and it's great seeing them. The Las Vegas crowd was hot. Christian just came out and challenged Booker for the belt.

Everything was so wrestling oriented and nothing new or different. I have to give the show a thumbs down even though the show "looked" great..

It's just boring.. i can't see the show doing more than a 1.1 ever at this stage
