Thoughts from iMPACT

-I like the new intro video but we could have done without the shots of the band members.

-I don't like the intro set. I was a huge fan of the tunnel look and felt it was a bad decision to remove it. All it is is one big screen. However this may not be the new set since the Hard Rock Joint is smaller than the iMPACT Zone and the set may have needed to be smaller. We shall see.

-I like the graphics of the show though like the championship match graphic.

-By the way many of the wrestlers have newer entrance videos that look pretty cool.

-The Velvet Sky vs Christy Hemme match was mediocre at best and should have been cut for other matches like the X Division Championship Match.

-I like the Main Event Mafia name, and so the major angle is in full effect.

-I like the new Legends Championship Belt but wish it could have been a TV Title. This whole situation could end up being good so I will just have to wait and see.

-The Christian Cage promo was interesting and kinda funny. I wish he stays with TNA because he is good in TNA.

-I also an intrigued by the Christian Cage vs Booker T match stip at Turning Point. The Legends Championship is on the line but if Cage loses he has to join the main event mafia.

-I can't believe they only gave the X Division Championship under two minutes. That is sad and kinda pisses me off. The whole show didn't see enough wrestling. Couldn't they have cut the opening match, one of the promos or shortened a promo?

-One interesting factor is that the Main Event Mafia are united while AJ and Joe aren't

-What is the deal with Bashir vs Rhino. Couldn't they have held this off until next week.

-The Tag Team Text-Off Gauntlet was a huge mess at the end. The table was introduced before the tag portion started. We didn't know if Abyss was eliminated or not and TNA almost watered down the flaming table concept. Piss poor execution.

-The whole interaction between Jarrett and Angle could have been saved for next week. I am interested that they are putting TNA Originals against stars of the Main Event Mafia though rather than rush into another Jarrett vs Angle match.

-The commercials for this show never stopped, I really felt them on the show.

-The Knockouts Championship Match was solid but again too short. Finally the title is taken off Wilde, should have been Roxxi though.

-Good to see Nick Bockwinkle in the crowd!!!

-The main event was okay but yet again too short. I think they shouldn't have given away Joe getting his hands on Nash yet. Also the aftermath beatdown was good establishing the Main Event Mafia as a force to be reckoned with.

-Too much Kurt Angle on this show!!!

-I like the Major Announcement. Of course it didn't live up to the hype but storyline wise it makes sense. I was trying to figure out how Foley could stay busy in TNA and as an Executive Shareholder, I guess he found his way. I also liked how Foley put over TNA and the X Division (even though the latter don't deserve it)

-The show was memorable but poorly booked and produced. Too much talk not enough action

LOOKS LIKE THEIR BUILDING THESE MATCHES FOR TURNING POINT:
-AJ Styles vs Sting for the World Title
-Samoa Joe vs Kevin Nash
-Kurt Angle vs Abyss
-Sheik Abdul Bashir vs Rhino
-Beer Money vs Team 3D for the Tag Team Titles
-Booker T vs Christian Cage for the Legends Championship where if Cage loses he has to join the Main Event Mafia

Marty
2 things:

1) I sent you a PM, respond with your answer.

2) Could you compile a list of great Russo style segments that were pure Russo from late 07 and into 08 (example Thanksgiving Dinner). You can respond on here or Private Message Me.

Thanx

Hey Talon.. I"ll try and answer to your PM, but I was kinda busy and you're giving a lot of difficult questions pertaining to TNA and that's fine.. it's all opinion. As for Vince Russo and TNA.. my memory is kinda blurry.. but the shows that really stood out for me were the Thanksgiving show.. just the stuff from the beginning of the show where AJ was eating food while they were saying grace, Kurt referring to the writer's strike not pertaining to TNA.. Tomko/AJ fighting.

The ENTIRE cast showing up to dinner. Kurt/Karen's kid were there and she said Team 3D sucked. The food fight at the end and Awesome Kong caught a turkey leg and ate it. She was also eating the plastic food.. Nash/Hall showing up and pie facing Karen. It was just so entertaining..

I can't believe TNA has absolutely no entertainment value now. The entire show yesterday was wreslting. I remember Glenn on interviews saying WWE only has wrestlers talk about their wrestling matches - which i cracked up at because it was true. The funny thing is that's exactly what TNA does nwo. I"m sure Russo helps scripts the shows, but I think Dutch/Jeff are leading the"direction" right now. It reminds me of the asylum days where there's absoluytely no focus on characters, and good storytelling.

I like the new graphics/intro too... the set wasn't that impressive. They got new entrance videos. AJ, Booker, Joe "fonts" in their videos look like shit though. THe crowd was hot, but i really didn't dig a lot of the talk segments because all they did was talk... and nothing really happened.

Russo wouldn't write a talk segment and have nothing happen. Christian comes out, talks to Booker.. nothing happens. Kurt headbutts Foley, but all foley does is talk him out of the ring. The backstage promos aren't even etnertaining..

I remember a time where every backstage promo would be interesting and entertaining.. or humourous with great dialogue..

The decision show with AJ trying to decide with Kurt/Christian was great. They aluded to JB giving Kurt a blowjob.. when Karen walked in... but it was actually JB scrubbing kurt's shoes.. Kurt talking to Dr Kevin Nash was great too...

Talon i'll try and reply to your pm..

I just think with all the stars they have they need to emphasize entertaining characters.. How are the big stars going to differentiate from the other guys. Can jeff jarrett please shut the fuck up about aj and joe.. it's so cheesy..

I know i'm whining.. but i just get really angry when TNA is afraid to do entetaining shows when they have proven in the past that they can and when they did, the ratings go up

You are alienating most of your TV audience with this type of show. I kow they wanted it to be more of a wrestling - PPV but come on

I loved the opening with AJ/Joe, and MMG not respecting Joe. Joe slaps MMG. Main Event Mafia has a new theme. THe set looks OUTSTANDING. I think the new plasma TV screens look great. Kurt, Nash AND booker got on the mic, which was cool. Sting was in a suit without his face paint, and is the champ. he is the "good guy" of the faction.

Ends with a beatdown and Steiner joining the MEM - Sting comes out later and was going to help AJ out after his talk with Foley. AJ spits in his face, Sting drops AJ. I like the way they are using Sting.

Foley talked to Jeff backstage. Foley comes out, tells fans to vote, and watch TNA in HD. Foley is cool, and he brings out sting, and i ike how they talk about the history they had together. I like stuff like that.

I hate that there is ABSOLUTELY no comedy on the show whatsoever. Steiner didn't attack Petey. MMG wins clean. AJ pins Booker T clean. MMG shows their loyalty by beating up Beer Money to save Eric Young. They could turn.

Foley's usage is okay, but I'm afraid that he'll turn into "just another authority figure' and end up getting no reaction. The reason he got so over was because of the humour, comedy he did as Mankind, and a lot of the crazy stunts..

I like that a lot of people got to go on the mic. Abyss/Morgan continued.. morgan saves Abyss.. but MEM comes bakc.. their theme is weird...

Jacqueline doesn't really do anything. Beautiful people cut an okay promo.. Christy and ODB wint he match. I like that Roxxi swears a lot.. good gimmick. Roxxi/Taylor beat up Awesome Kong and Raeesha Saeed.

Rhino gores Abdul Bashir.. for his 5 seconds of impact. Rhino needs a bigger role

Christian's only appearance on the show was a great promo hyping his match with Booker T...

It was a strong show and good utilization of everyone on the show. Eric Young is turned serious.. wasn't afraid of pyro.. and we're seeing a serious side to him. Kurt, who is known for great comedy, was all serious too

everyone was serious. I liked that Nash referenced Hall again when talking to Joe. A lot of good stuff on the show.. but lacked entertainment/comedy. Unsure if a full show without humour is good to gain new viewers... The attitude era was about doing something for everyone, and getting people talking the next night. While this may be a good show. i think they need to create "a buzz"..

It was a strong show though.

I only saw the fist hour of IMPACT before I fell asleep. Not because it was boring , but I was just that damn tired. I loved the opening segement with AJ talking. He has so much fire, intensity, and charisma. Shame that it doesn't rub off of joe. The new set looked great. I love Roxxi's gimmick. Her going off on the interviewer and cussing at her just made me crack up. Much respect to awesome Kong, but Roxxi should be the champ right now.

Also when Eric Young came out as ERIC YOUNG, I just about fell on my knees and thanked God because this could quite possibly mean that their is no more Super Eric. Now all TNA needs to do is bring back Christopher Daniels as the Fallen Angel.

Motor City Markout

Not necessarily in chronological order.

I loved the opening sequence. Loved it. Finally, the Guns have a personality instead of being mindless heels/faces. I always get a kick out of just seeing AJ. Granted the Main Event Mafia may be a little stupid, but they look and feel the part.

Women's match - Hemme and ODB vs. Beautiful People - was absolute shit. I thought ODB could at least wrestle. Maybe it's because The Beautiful People suck so much cock. Not literally, of course... Would have changed the channel if I weren't so intent on writing a review for my internet buddehs.

I could actually buy Eric as a serious face. I suddenly like EY now they're stripping away the comedy; "Not tonight JB". Storm felt a little wooden tonight but found his groove during the match. So much potential in him and Roode. Functional, decent match. Ends in EY getting a roll up. The Guns make the save as Beer Money beat down Eric. Second Motor City Markout of the night.

Speaking of which, they had a good match against a couple of Japanese dudes. Missed some of it because I'd flicked over to see the end of iMPACT! on Bravo (I was on Bravo + 1). Still, they win and get their third Motor City Markout.

Or was it four? Sabin gave the best interview I've ever seen from him; it looks like he's been taking lessons from Shelley. He was... compotent. Almost confident. Better than Joe.

Roxxi and that chick that used to be in WWE beat on Kong and Melissa. Roxxi swears some more. I lol'd at her ass being blurred. I would.

Since when was Christian a legend? Since when was Booker a legend? Why does Christian care about this "invented" belt? I hope he loses, the nonsensical prick. Does anyone give a shit about the belt? No, really. I don't even think Booker does.Hopefully they'll unify the belts before long. CC will end up on MEM though, there's too many "Young Guns". That would be such a good name for an Eric Young/MCMG alliance.

Abyss is still unintentionally hilarious. Morgan's just shit. This whole "we r fwends" dynamic is so fucking stupid. Abyss says "thanks for asking" and I just piss myself. The only way he could be any funnier is if he just broke into "I'm super, thanks for asking" from the South Park movie.

Brings us to the Abyss/Angle main event. The attire on fire is back. Fantastic. Good match. Morgan comes out and does the worst interference I've seen since, well, Kevin Nash. He sucks balls, he really does. Can't sell to save his fucking life. Angle and Booker team up on him but he carries on like nothing. Fucking spastic. Takes his mentor Nash to take him down.

Oh, I forgot Foley and Sting. Was unremarkable. There. As for the Nash/Sting/Joe/Styles match, was pretty good. Loved AJ in it, as always. Joe picked up the win. Didn't get the point of it.

Steiner reveals himself. Everyone seems unsurprised. I like how he didn't hit Petey. TNA finally has continuity!

And the announcement we've all been waiting for: the Motor City Machine Guns have a title shot! If they win the belts I will personally fly to Orlando and supply the entire TNA creative team with oral sex.

Seriously. I'll go to town.

Very strong show. I LOVED the Steiner promo.. he shat on the kids playing video games.. going on mark wrestling websites to see if they get 4/5 star matches. why do they care what the geeks think? Ask MEM and they'll tell them that they suck! Brilliant. I marked out huge. Booker and Nash were laughing. Christian comes out and talks about Booker.

Nash's promo backstage was hilarious too. He lost track how many times he won the title. HOw many times has Joe fought a 6 10, 300 lbs person, pissed. Never?

Rhaka turns. Some of the wrestling was long, but i really enjoyed the six man tag. MEM is a STACKED group and i agree that it's probably the greatest group of big names to EVER come together. hall, nash, hogan was big.. but this is big

I thought of an idea during STing/AJ segment that the young guys EVENTUALLY turn on Mick FOley... thus proving Sting's theory that these guys are disrespectful. Jeff turning down the line wouldn't hurt either.

There wasn'ta ny comedy on the show. Joe got dissed bigtime by Steiner.. and his comebacks were "okay". the dialogue by Steiner was brilliatn, and intensity and realism in the way wrestlers talk is VERY important. THe attitude era was LIVING PROOF of how well it was done - talking like real people and insulting like real people do insults...

MEM wins. Steiner wins with brass knuckles. Booker T wins with help from legends title and pins Christian.

MEM has a cool logo, and them all coming out together looks brilliant.

I kinda hate that alll stories are "wreslting"

But yeah, Sheik Abdur Bashir's promo was brilliant - his interview with Tenay was PURE Russo... very intense and brought to life with reality. I also liked Rhino's promo and how he said "like it or get the hell out" and lauren corrected him.... Rhino is kinda demoted and I hope he gets pushed

Team 3D needs to have a gimmick. Abyss/Morgan win.

I miss the comedy and I wish they'd do more of these..

But yeah, I"d say this was a very strong show

Graphisc look great. I have a fullscreen TV and the HD stuff cuts off the sides for the ads and otehr stuff.

Awesome Indestructible hype for Turning Point performed by Disturbed..

Really good show!

-- next day edit --

Okay i did praise the show. but here are some "little" things thatt I thinkw ould help. I liked that Bashir had his interview because I said in the past that he needs to say and do more controversial things. I wouldn't mind a few in ring segments. I like MEM.. but I do want it more intense. I want more stuff out the ring. I want some humour.. They need to talk every week unfortunately (well, fortunately). When Nash/Sting didn't get on the mic, I was like "why?". THen they both talked later - sting came out later, and Nash got some good mic time in the back.

I do want to watch to see the top stars. But i do want to see the young guys "fight back" with talk as well. I dont like that the talk segments dont result in any action. Opening segment had a crazy AWESOME steiner promo (because it was real). Joe comes out, CHristian comes out.. segment ends with no action.

Same happened with STing/AJ. maybe it's a tactic they're doing.. but i usually want some action.

It's hard to stay creative everyw eek.. some intriguing stuff for all characters to do other than 'wrestling oriented' stories wouldn't hurt either. Team 3D has kinda been demoted. I think they are legends. Rhino is kinda down. Sting is a HUGE name.. and he's the champion. Booker is a legend champ. Nash is a huge name. Kurt Angle is a SUPER name.

I like how Jeff is kinda used. Mick foley is a HUGE name.. not sure i'm completely pleased with him coming out and just hyping a match and leaving. I think the young guys need to turn on him and beat him down "down the line"

It's difficult to use all these huge stars every week and use them ewll.. as well as build your middle card. but i wouldn't mind some russo-esque entertainment, character development. because i think fans are bored of seeing the same wrestling-oriented stories... you can have a few, but doing stuff different doesnt hurt either. I miss comedy.

here's a post from a tna writer's 'unofficial' forum:

i love this storyline. its so intriguing and brings out such real emotions.

scott steiners opening promo was brilliant. "all you do is finish your match, go to the back and play video games. etc etc"

the sheik bashir segment was brilliantly done. i think he got the bit about 9/11 spot on and you can tell this is influenced by russo because hes mentioned speaking about things like that to make the show more realistic. i loved when he asked tenay "so what did you lose on 9.11 tenay? you still have the same job you had 7 years ago, you still come to work wtih the same friendly faces asking you how you are".

i think a bit more profanity is required. these guys are grown men pissed off at eachother and wanna beat the crap out of eachother and they barely swear. i heard a few pisses and shits this week but nothing too dramatic. i thought steiners promo was gonna be profanity laden but i guess dixie carter is against all that. tna realy should capitalise on wwe going pg.

the segment between aj and sting was great too. real emotion there once again and great reference to AJ's past.

i still think foley is gonna turn heel. i dont see jarrett turning heel because firstly he'd lower the class of the main event mafia and secondly i think hes got too much of a hard on being the knight in shining armour for the tna originals. i still think these "originals" need a bit more of an official name like the new blood. the millionaires club was such a fantastic name too.

tna should try and get ric flair for this storyline and have him cut one of his infamous tradition promos we heard about a million times in wcw. the 6 man and 4 way tag matches were quite exciting. definitely had a more russo feel to them.

otherwise i thought it was a brilliant show.

I agree with what he said about bashir, about stein'er's awesome promo.. and i agree that dialogue needs to be more badass.. the dialogue is an ESSENTIAL part of wrestling. the promo.. it can't be "i want your belt". they need to talk like real people in today's society.. like two people on the streets beating each other up. how would tehy talk like. that's how russo would write it..

watch wwe, and you get the exact opposite of how people normally talk like. I think VR talked about this on numerous interviews years ago.

i also kinda agree that TNA originals may need some sort of an official name. Joe and AJ are oaky, but if they get someone else with some 'more' credibility and name the group.. a more of a leader.. that'd be cool.. maybe jarrett can come out and give them a name.

but yeah, it's important to use the old guys everyw eek, let them all talk, and give them something to do. the same applies for the small card and everyone else

kinda weird for booker to team with beer money as beer money are tna originals

Wasn't really digging Foley's peptalk. MMG's promo was good. But i wasn't digging why they had to face bashir and beer money. There isn't real animosity and intensity like there was with millionaire's club

Beautiful People's invitiation to Sarah Palin was kinda over the top.. i dont think palin will accept that..

I loved the ending because they mentioned Christian possibly going to WWE and everyone got their move on him. WEird that the main angle of that night was MEM and Christian rather than everything else. I liked MMG talking about AJ/Joe.. Bashir didn't do anything.. he's supposed to be controversial but has no segment. I liked MEM beating up PEtey after Petey entered the lockerroom... ODB is apparently getting a talk show segment. I think Russo likes ODB and Roxxi...

I think there needs to be intensity and a lot more character development. Sting match was okay.. it's also cool that Sting doesn't take part in the heel beatdowns... he's the "good guy" in the heel faction.

MEM's theme sucks and their new logo sucks too...

i liked hernandez's rough cut.. he got more mic time there then than his entire TNA career. Christian never denied that he was going back to wwe. Booker and Nash didn't get on the mic.

I do want more stuff to go down like nb vs millionaire's. TNA has a bunch of shrimps. I'd prefer MMG to actually play video games and read comic books and cut promos "What's wrong with reading X-men comic books and playing Turok on DS"

WSe should review this thread Marty2Hotty reviews TNA IMPACT every week. 11/20/2008 -0 Profanity, MEM, ODB, Strong show:

ODB's ANgle.. hilarious.. total Russo here.. i like these produced segments. I hate it when TNA keeps mentions "AJ and Joe" as the only guys TNA ever created..

Opening segment was a classic "hearst/funeral" segment involving the MEM. ALL of them come out: Sting, Nash, Angle, Booker, and Steiner. Only Nash and ANgle get the mic. Angle comes out four separate times throughout the night, which is good. The top stars should come out.

I read a report from WO newsletter that Sting is sort of the "godfather" so he watches the henchmen take part in the beatdowns .. and if they turn him down the line, they can say he never took part in the beatdowns. He did take part in the Rhino beatdown in the beginning. They close the lid and MEM music plays.

I really enjoyed Rhino's promo, Nash's promo.. and Angle's promo.. Angle had to summarize the show because this was filmed one night after the other taping so people in the audience may not have known the Christian story...

I'm glad Rhino is getting his much needed push again. Team 3D's promo backstage was good and they talk about MEM and they are 20 time world tag team champions - legends. I agree.

I don't understand Sting's role at this time. He's the WORLD CHAMPION. He should be the leader. or CO LEADER with Angle. An idea I had was Sting tries to take charge, and Angle gets jealous but then eventually they all turn on Sting.. YES YES - nation of domination ala Faarooq/Rock.. but I dont want Sting to leave - MEM just formed and they need to stay as a unit.

MEM is the biggest, jam packed group of names to EVER assemble together as a group in wrestling. I dont think it gets bigger than this. Evolution was crap. Original nWo was really cool .. DX didn't have star power with Chyna/HHH at the time.. but MEM is established superstars.. Them in suits is good.

I think Sting needs to have a show - leading the MEM.. ordering Angle.. kinda "leading" the Main Event Mafia. He kinda has to explain his associatoin with MEM. Why isn't he beating down people. What does he htink of MEM's antics.. of Angle's leadership. Does he agree with what is going on? I mean, TNA pays Sting so much money - he's champion. He was a mute thorughout this show? doesn't make too much sense in my eyes.

--- MEM rant somewhat over.

I liked the MEM beatdown on the young guys. The final segment was relatively strong as well.. Jarrett saying if Angle loses to Rhino, Angle has to leave.. that kinda sucks.. I dont want Angle to leave.. and Jarrett shouldn't either.. but i guess it's in the story.. Obviously we'll get Angle vs Jarrett II out of this. I hope Angle doesn't go to WWE in Septebmer 2009.. but yeah. Angle might do MMA - brock is the freakin champion.

Profanity: I liked that they are using the word "Bullshit" every few weeks.. and "pussy" .. one of my emails i sent to Russo and Dixie/TNA, was that the dialogue is too tame.. they need to anty it up so that people talk like real people.. Nobody talks like the way WWE wrestlers talk like.. it's lame, it's cheesy and unrealistic.. Making people talk like real people would is good. swearing every now and then doesn't hurt.. it beats the shit out of beeping the word 'ass' when that word is used on ever PG show.

Booker beats EY. AJ/Joe win. Angle pins Abyss due to Beer Money. I really enjoyed the past two weeks of LAX/Rough Cut. we know more about these guys now more than the past few yeasr.. hell, they got more mic time in these rough cuts than all their time in TNA combined..

Cornette was on the show too.. maybe he needs to side the bad guys... Foley mentioning DX/nWo was cool too.. waht do you guys think of th eway foley is used? People still love the guy!! I say a strong solid show by TNA here...

the matches were kinda filler, but ALL The backstage segments were excellent. Nash saying the frontline was sh*t.. rhino in jeff's office. Beautiful People saying they're gonna bring Palin to the IMpactzone next week (gonna be a lookalike or "cousin" i'm assuming). all the rhino, 3d, mem segments were great.

AJ's backstage interview was great as we heard from his past. all the backstage stuff was pure russo. the hemme stuff is weird.. im not really digging her serious i want to wrestle character but they are pushing her feud. Booker T and Beautilful People were great. Booker's accent was more than ever.

Sting didn't say much; nor did Nash. Steiner did talk to 3D a bit. Booker spoke a bit. Kurt got mic time in the beginning and the first segment with Rhino and "The frontline" was strong.. and Rhino got a HUGE push this night ... from being a nobody a few weeks ago.. which is pretty crazy...

I loved the backstage segments... the turkey bowl was kinda meh.. even shelley's promo backstage was pretty good

TNA has worked hard on building the sets - the backstage sets and rooms look really great... looks pricey as well..

i think thye needed more crazy action on the show... eric young has a new look too..

I also think characters - young need cockyness and arrogance, and lots of character development. they can't talk like little *****es... abdul bashir needs to do more inring segments i dunno

I wish Sarah Palin would accept the invitgation for real

the foley segment was lame because foley didn't know whwat he was talking about.. and it was kinda poorly executed..

--

edit: ending was pretty strong with 3D. but it's no longer originals - that's why they called it the "frontline". 3D in suits were cool. they joined the frontline.. i guess it's bout the "building of a company" guys.. but what differentiates them lol.. Sting may show some signs of turning in the future.. I think it'd be crazy if Sting was a full all-out heel like Hogan was when Hogan turned for the nWo. Imagine a crazy sting heel.. not sure sting would agree to it though...

The foley segment looked great on paper.. but meh. anyways, shelley got a "decent" role on the show.. MEM is okay.. but i dont think they may have credible opponents. AJ and Joe are cool and all....

i dont konw.. i guess there isn't enough intensity/urgency like there was in the new blood where that stuff had you at the edge of your seat due to all the antics, action... but i guess it's watchable TV - i liked that each backstage segment had a reason for being there. damn, has TNA's sets improved.

I hope it gets crazy and the story gets better. the characters for undercard need help. I liked LAX on Rough Cut because they got more mic time there than all TNA time put together. TOo bad TNA never follows up on characters after Rough Cuts... Herndandez, or Robert ROode would give The Frontline more of a "heavyweight" feel.. but because they're "TNA heels" they're for some reason omitted from the group so it's aj, joe and shrimps ..

EDIT: Here's a great and interesting revie. i may not agree completely but it beats the living shit out of meltzer, keller's reviews - who only talks about rating the matches with stars and nothing else

TNA’s main angle is getting off track
After watching Impact last night, I’m starting to wonder if TNA’s creative team is just making things up as it goes along.

At first, TNA’s big feud between the Main Event Mafia and the TNA Originals seemed to be your basic old guard vs. new kids scenario. The veteran superstars in the MEM had all been world champions in either WWE or WCW, and the young guys in the Originals all made their names in TNA.

On last night’s show, however, former WWE stars Team 3-D and Rhino, who are all between the ages of 33 and 37, became members of the Originals (now known as The Frontline).

While none of them fits the criteria for being in the group, at least Rhino, who is seeking revenge after being attacked by the MEM last week, has a good story line reason for joining. So why did Team 3-D align themselves with The Frontline? It beats me, but apparently it has something to do with ECW.

Rhino, Brother Ray and Brother Devon kept comparing the feud with the MEM to the “war” they fought as part of ECW. I’m not sure that’s the smartest analogy to make, unless the goal is to have Impact airing on WWE 24/7 within five years.

The real reason the three veterans were inserted in the group is pretty obvious: to provide some much-needed star power and credibility. Of course, in doing so, it defeats the original intent of the story line, which was to elevate the young TNA guys by having them stand toe-to-toe with the big boys.

It also seems to indicate a loss of confidence in A.J. Styles and Samoa Joe as the leaders of the faction. It reminds me of when WWE did the invasion story line in 2001, but quickly gave up on the invading group. The “outsiders” ended up being led by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and other WWE stars, which killed the angle.

On last night’s show, Styles and Joe were completely overshadowed by Rhino and Team 3-D. At one point, Brother Ray came right out and said to Styles and Joe that he knows what it’s like to be “down here” when you’re trying to get “up there,” as he raised his hand from below his waist to above his head. Translation: Even though Styles and Joe have both been TNA world champion and headlined TNA pay-per-views, they never made it in WWE like Rhino and Team 3-D did, so they haven’t really accomplished anything in the business.

Matt Morgan and Abyss are better choices than Rhino and Team 3-D to join The Frontline. Morgan has shown star potential, and with his impressive size, he wouldn’t look overmatched standing across from the MEM.

With Morgan, TNA could do one of those “Which side will he choose?” story lines that it does so often. The MEM could say that they think Morgan is the one young guy who has what it takes to run with them. Morgan, however, would reject the offer, saying that the only reason MEM wants him on its side is to avoid having to face him, and that he was held down by guys like the MEM when he was in WWE and he’s not going to let it happen again.

Abyss, on the other hand, is an original TNA character and the fans view him as a legitimate threat to beat anyone on the roster. A Frontline consisting of Morgan, Abyss, Styles, Joe and Jay Lethal (who is in the group but should have a more prominent role) would be formidable without having to deviate from the original premise of the story line.

Other thoughts on last night’ show:

Team 3-D, especially Brother Ray, did a good job on the mic throughout the show, even though it would have made more sense for them to go with The MEM. Weren’t Team 3-D and Kurt Angle running buddies in the story line not all that long ago? …

When it appeared that Team 3-D was joining The MEM, the group was referred to as now being The Magnificent Seven. That was actually the name of a short-lived heel faction during the last months of WCW. Can anyone name all the members? I’ll list them below (no peeking). …

There was a new Frontline logo and entrance video before Rhino even proposed the new name to the TNA Originals. I guess he was confident that they would like it. Either that or it was a continuity error. …

Styles’ sit-down interview with Mike Tenay in which he discussed his dysfunctional family came off as cheesy. …

A strong hint of the inevitable babyface turn for Sting (not that he ever really turned heel) occurred after the Styles interview, as Sting expressed second thoughts about his judgment of Styles. Kevin Nash, by the way, was great in this segment in his role as the devil on Sting’s shoulder.

The whole idea of Sting being conflicted doesn’t make sense to me. He doesn’t participate in The MEM’s beat-downs, but he’s OK with hitting people over the head with a baseball bat. And he’s upset with the young guys because he feels they are disrespectful, but he has no problem associating with a band of thieves. …

It appears as if Alex Shelley, who ended up wearing the turkey costume last night, might be facing Mick Foley in a one-on-one match at some point. Needless to say, that would do wonders for the career of Shelley, who is looking more like a star every week. …

TNA did a good job of making Morgan look like a monster in his triple-threat match by having him perform power moves on Sheik Abdul Bashir and Jimmy Rave simultaneously. Speaking of Rave, he seems to still be a heel, while Christy Hemme has turned babyface. I thought perhaps Hemme was no longer part of The Rock and Rave Infection, but she still comes out to their entrance music and video. I suppose the larger question is whether Hemme is more annoying as a face or as a heel. Too close to call. …

Hemme said she has been training with Styles for three months in an effort to improve her ring skills. That’s probably a true story, but it doesn’t fit the story line, because Hemme was a heel until last month. …

Has Raisha Saed ever won a match? I get it that her role is to put over whatever babyface is feuding with Awesome Kong, but I can’t help thinking that TNA could make better use of the talent of Saed (a.k.a Cheerleader Melissa). …

I’m curious as to what TNA has planned for “Sarah Palin’s” supposed appearance with The Beautiful People on next week’s show. …

The Magnificent Seven members were: Ric Flair, Scott Steiner, Rick Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, Lex Luger, Buff Bagwell and Road Warrior Animal.

I think we should have all our TNA IMPACT discussion here. I liked 12/4/2008. Palin segments were good. Beer Money had some interaction with Abyss. Angle's segment was good. Sting talking was good. 3D started the show; ODB's angle was great. I love how they let Roxxi swear a lot: "we're gonna f*ck those b(tches up".

Christy Hemme trains with AJ. Hemme pins Kong with the help of AJ, which is cool. Ending had Rhino gore Sting for the win. Nash's promos in the beginning was cool. Steiner got to talk a bit, which is also cool. Booker T's segment in his locker room was great, same with the one with Kip, Beautiful People and Booker T. LAX Rough Cut is okay.

EY wins a match and helps beat up Bashir. Joe loses due to Beautiful People helping out Booker T. The fake Sarah Palin segments were pretty entertaining and typical of Vince Russo.

I thought it was a real strong show. Foley only has a short backstage segment with Angle. They show Angle's 5 top moments with the first being the formation of MEM, him winning the first TNA title at Slammiversary 2007, him winning all titles at Hard Justice 2007 hugging his wife Karen, him debuting in 2006

They did a strong job of utilizing everyone... although I do find it weird to see Sting in a heel faction. He said MEM will be his family... Nash needs to talk.. it was cool that he spoke as if he was leader.. nash, sting, kurt can all lead... booker and steiner can work the mic

TNA mobile says a former world champ that teamed with foley in the past will be w/ angle at Final Resolution. possibilities by mike johnson of pwinsider say it is: mikey whipwreck (would be disappointing as i dont know who he is), funk (high possibility), austin/rock (not possible).

Taylor Wilde and Roxxi were pretty entertaining in ODB's angle. Sharmell is good too. Jacqueline got to do some kissing to Abyss; Abyss says nothing has changed between him and Lauren.

Lots of people wrestling. They are kinda teasing a Daniels return.. i prefer seeing him as Curry Man. It boggles my mind how Black Machismo is doing that gimmick still when they have taken Stone cold off.. who was a million times more interesting/entertaining...

ANyways... great show

- Curry Man was HILARIOUS tonight. "Wauren, I wuv you". The segment where he's carried off. Him in the ring not understanding being fired. SOO funny. Daniels can do comedy. Are they really going to bring back "serious fallen angel no personality" Daniels? Sigh.

- Daffney as Sarah Palin was GREAT. So entertaining.

- MEM was really cool and Sting's character is VERY intriguing and I really feel his role needs to be upped a notch. He's conflicted and he's in the MEM. I know they might break him but it's really cool to see them five ALL together...

I mean, I don't see Nash, Angle, Steiner, Sting there at TNA "super long term" so we have to enjoy this group of individuals now.. i mean, all of these five, including Angle.. as a faction is ABSOLUTELY insane.

I loved the Bubba/Angle segment and I love the interactions backstage. Angle talking to Booker was great. Bubba talking to the Frontline was great.

FOley didn't do much. Jarrett was cool too. He has a nice room. Booker has a nice room. Beautiful People have nice rooms

- Matt Morgan and Abyss are really being my favourite group to watch. Abyss talking about the drunken clam and Quagmire had me cracking up. I like this new Abyss character. He's coming to be one of my favourites on the show

- Beer Money Rough Cut

- Hernandez wins the world title shot. Homicide gets X. AGAIN, Props out completely for Curry Man..

Black Machismo's gimmick got played out 2 months after he started the gimmick. I'd rather see Shark Boy do Stone Cold every week. I dont even know why they cut his gimmick off and left Black Machismo coming out to that theme all the time.

All members of MEM can work the mic.

I loved the aftermath of most matches. SOmething always went down> Hemme won and Black girl slapped her. EY wins. EY is cool in that suit. I really enjoyed MMG's promo too about the Foley stuff and then Suicide coming out and kicking ass.

There was a lot of great stuff on the show. The Cross The Line spot was great too..

LOTS of character development.

I haven't seen the main event with Bubba and Angle yet, and I will shortly, but this show is a massive Thumbs Up!

Ending was total badasss.. The MEM beat up Bubba Ray and yet more intrigue with Sting as he walks away.. I haven't heard from Sting.. and I'm sure he's not a fan of the beatdowns.. it's not something Sting EVER stood up for! wow...

Great stuff by TNA.. i loved how they took it backstage and then bubba was talking to kurt DURING the match. how often do we see that.. thumbs WAY up@

TheOneBigWill's (Quick) iMPACT! Review: December 11th, 2008:

Frontline v. M.E.M.: So basically put, this is an n.W.o. v. W.C.W. storyline. The only thing that I really feel hurts this storyline is the fact that the Frontline really doesn't have but two major guys that are at the top of their group.

Team 3D aren't major names in a single's war. Sure, they're a great addition to the Frontline due to the lack of talent (known talent) but I think the Main Event of Brother Ray against Kurt Angle should show you how silly this storyline is becoming.

And Ray.. a former E.C.W. original, a guy who at one point was hated so much he had being trying to kill him.. turns into someone who just "takes the word" of a rival, all on a handshake? If you ask me.. Brother Ray deserved to get his ass handed to him and tossed in the trash.. if he's going to be that stupid, he shouldn't be in the business.

Meanwhile.. Sting is showing signs of cutting away from the violent/ruthless nature of the M.E.M. which indicates he'll either swerve everyone and finally turn heel (which he's technically suppose to be anyways) or he'll just to the Frontline, and the entire storyline of "young guns versus vets" will turn into "vets versus vets". Seem a bit funny to anyone else?

Beer Money/Abyss/Rough Cut: So, dispite not being a Matt Morgan fan, and finding the new Abyss (a.k.a. Golga-wannabe) character annoying.. I'm just falling deeper and deeper in love with Beer Money. (still hate the name though)

I think ultimately they'll drop the titles to Jay Lethal and Austin Creed, with Morgan and Abyss splitting into a feud of their own. Until then, however, I see a hardcore match coming up at the next Pay per view.

Meanwhile, it's about time they did a Rough Cut segment that might actually be worth knowing about. I'm very interested in James Storm. Hopefully they'll do a Robert Roode one as well, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Beautiful People/Gov.: Okay, first.. I'm an idiot because all last week for the first segment of her being there.. I really thought it WAS her. Second.. where is this storyline even fucking going?

Is it going to be revealed that the fake Gov. was hired to make the Beautiful people, ugly, by way of Roxxi and Wilde? Which leads to another meaningless Tag match on a Pay per view? BOR-ING!

Christy Hemme: When did Candice Michelle get a try-out as a redhead in T.N.A.? And why the fuck is Awesome Kong really being challenged by a former Diva Search winner?! Hemme is coming into her own, I guess you could say.. but really.. really?

And the new chic with the stupid first name.. I throw up a little in my mouth each time I have to see her stomach jiggle.

X-Division Title Tournament: LOVE IT! Especially with the possible Alex Shelley v. Chris Saban final that I hope will happen. Sadly, Eric fricken Young against someone not worthy will likely be the case.

I can also see Bashir finding his way back INTO the tourney, because Hebner seemingly "helped" Young win. So we're right back to how this who thing came about. I suppose it doesn't really matter though, whomever wins the title in the complete end will drop it to Homicide, I'm almost sure of it.

Suicide: Look, I get that Kaz didn't have a "personality" and all that.. but zip-cording into the ring with flashing lights, and a bright costume.. not really helping anything. Bring back Kaz. But let him keep SOME of the new moves. (by the way, the D.O.A.. Petey is filing a class action lawsuit as I type this)

Feast/Fired: Hernadez (sp?) gets a World Championship title shot that he'll NEVER win.. Homicide gets an X-Division title shot that he'll likely get. L.A.X. is more or less heading off into single's runs which means one more good Tag team down the shitter.. and all I can say is..

This better mark the re-birth of the Fallen Angel, because if it doesn't.. I'll be majorly pissed off.

Overall Thoughts: iMPACT! is becoming more enjoyable with the storylines, but in the end.. it'll get drug out and boring before it gets more entertaining. I'd honestly like to see more Al Snow. :lmao:

12/18/2008:

Just an all around fantastic show. MEM got on the mic, Nash was trying to convince Sting to stay. Sting was taking part in beating up the Frontline at the end. The inside cage beatdown was nice. I like the "in 12 minutes" stuff. The Foley spot was great, and I loved the dialogue with Foley talking about business.

The Angle/Jarrett segment was brilliant! Damn, it reminds me of how awesome Jeff Jarrett was when he was booked as a badass champion. Angle talked about Owen, talked about his run in WCW, him owning TNA. I like that Rhino swore and that Jarrett was saying "bullshit". Usually, Jarrett's segments are lame - see 2005 era. But this was good. BG James as Jarrett's friend was really cool too. We haven't seen him in ages.

Lance Rock jobs to Rhino to start the show. I think Lance will be a good addition to the TNA Frontline. He's a big guy and has been there for three years and hasn't really gotten a huge push.

I enjoyed the Sarah Palin stuff. Kip James has a role. It was entertaining.

Dutt's match wasn't bad. I loved the MMG promo as well too. My "heterosexual lifemate". He talks about Foley, etc. Great promo, great dialogue. I love the Christy Hemme stuff. It's cool that she gets to win and has a Gail Kim type role. Her on ODB's Angle was fun too. Out of the blue, Raisha slaps Hemme haha.

The MEM backstage segments were all strong, same with the one with Foley. The recap of Brother Ray getting beat was great. Good intense beatdown last week. Sting's role in MEM continues to be intriguing. He is the champion... I think he should be co-leading the troops, but I like the conflict that he is in. There's some good stuff going on here and I'm intrigued.

Suicide comes out. The Shane Sewell interview was brilliant as well. We find out more about him. The content was great. He can't lose his job, etc, but doesn't take crap from nobody. Shiek was observing Dutt's match.

The Rough Cut with Robert Roode was really cool too. This was all real and it was cool to see footage of the Asylum again. Again, I loved the Kurt Angle segment, the content, the dialogue. Nash was funny.

Booker T/Steiner beat Morgan/Abyss due to the beautiful Sharmell. It was cool to see Sharmell get involved as well and get one on Abyss. That was a nice touch. The end spot with Booker T hitting the axe kick on Morgan was hilarious because Morgan had to move because Booker went to a different ropes.

So much good stuff happened on this show. The Japanese guy got a straight win on Creed.

I remember TNA was a hillbilly show a few years ago. They have really become a well defined product and man, it was cool to see all the HUGE names TNA has on this show. I like the women, i like all the stars, and a lot of the young guys got to talk. MMG saying lauren has the opportunity to be part of the meat sandwich was funny too.

Thumbs up!

I thought the show was solid. The first hour was pretty boring outside of the X Division match. Most promos were good, the cage match didnt make sense to me. Why would AJ or Joe want to escape the cage??? They got Nash & Sting right where they wanted him.

Most viewers were probably scared off by the first hour since thry dropped from last weeks 1.2s to this weeks 1.0. Not a good sign for such a major storyline.

okay christmas show

i like that hemme is being pushed. she looked great tonight.

Foley will wrestle; Not much comedy on the show. the only attempts were that one single segment with palin.

the interviews were okay..

it seems like a watered down version of the millionaires vs new blood feud.. but it was a pretty strong show. i just want more to happen.

rhion vs angle in the main event. it was a wrestling show. i think they really need to amp things up for 2008. i mean, we're in our 20s now and you're doing stuff that is tamer than the stuff i saw during the attitude era and 2000

the shane sewell segment was hot..fans were really into it. the palin stuff is okay gives beautiful ppl something to do

the bg stuff was okay. i like bg, but the babyface overdramatic stuff doens't fly well with me in wrestling. i fast forwarded jeff's promo at the end because it was so cheesy

I liked MEM and everyone getting a chance to talk.. First time Sting spoke in the presence of the MEM.. kurt angle's physique looks weird. his physique was "well built" when he was on drugs in the WWE, lol

they let creed/lethal win the belts. rough cut with beer money was interesting look at their lives.. but what about jacqueline? she's been there for 3 years, in the biz for like 14, and hasn't got anything to say?

Foley gets on the mic at the end. Nothing pisses me off more than a cornyw restling show that tries to take themselves too seriously for angles that don't even cut the mustard. The stuff Russo wrote in WCW never had any corny shit go down.. what the fuck is up with this?

It had some moments, but with all the stars TNA has, the shows should be more crazier than the attitude era and wcw 2000/1999. unfortunately, it's not. The MEM angle is kinda tame comapred to new blood vs millionaire's club.

Nothing special/crazy enough happens on the show. The shows are okay, and much better than WWE (from what i have seen), but they really need to step up the game. come on, we saw better shit 10 years ago.. why is it half as good 10 years later?

So, I was home sick lastnight and decided I'd try to watch TNA Impact for the first time in a very long time. Here's my take on things..

I've always been a fan of tournaments on television, I can remember back when I was younger really loving when a tournament came about and how it always brought a sense of meaning and importance. I'm not sure the same goes for this X division tournament, although its nice to see they're doing Something right now with the division. Obvious choice to open the show.

Alex Shelley def. Eric Young
- I sat back and watched this match and I couldn't help but notice two things. One; there seemed to be absolutely no psychology at all, and the match didn't seem to flow in any way that had purpose. Second; the match was really botchy, and even the ending looked bad where Sabin was suppose to interfere and hit Young. It came across entirely forced and Vince McMahon would've been cringing and taking them both off television, I bet, to send them back down to the minors for some fine tuning.

I was shocked by the entire Davari/Shane Sewell segment. Some parts of it were really well done, and some parts seemed to make me scratch my head and think, "why would they allow Davari to attack a referee?" Even with the twist at the end it seems really nonsensical. But they really did do a good job with this entire storyline over the weeks to build up Shane Sewell. I think this is one of the better introductions of new talent TNA has done. Its hilarious that Shane Sewell, a referee (or at the time he was) gets a better reaction from the fans then the ENTIRE TNA roster. Good news for Shane Sewel, bad news for TNA. Shane Sewell the Hottest on the show tonight, and props obviously have to be given to the heel Davari. But I'm really thinking after this match at Genesis and with Shane a permanent wrestler, he's going to turn out to be boring and eventually lost in the crowd.

Main Event Mafia promo was what it was..
I had to think though, when the MEM talked about hunting down and hurting Jarrett and Foley (instead of wrestling at Genesis)... why wouldn't the owners of the show just fire the MEM and get rid of them if they're a danger to their health? And it would allow the young guys to get the push they want and Jarrett/Foley have been fighting for. End of storyline!

the Beautiful People segment was pointless and stupid. TNA's a bit behind as Sarah Palin is no longer relevant anymore.

I was curious what the point of the Awesome King squash was? We KNOW Kong's dominant. Thats been overdone time and time again, so the entire squash did nothing to bring interest to the Knockout match at the PPV. Waste of time.

Abyss promo. So Abyss is not only channeling Kane and Mankind.. but now he's chaneling Hugh Morris, too?

I was a little confused about the Roughcut/Roode vs. Morgan match/and the aftermath of it all because it really seemed all over the place. The Roughcut showed a personal side of Roughcut and seemed to be interviews you'd see from faces, almost... and then they wrestle as heels against Morgan in a match that had a confusing ending. I bet a lot of people were confused and tuned out after that, even when Creed/Lethal came out flashing the briefcase as WWE imposters. But THEN we have a rip off of WWE with Creed/Lethal using the briefcase to take advantage of the Tag champions and win the titles. Not only is the first championships the Frontline win won through dirty handed, heel tactics as they take advantage of an injured wrestler. But we're to assume that Creed/Lethal weren't confident enough that they could beat Beer Money on their own, by talent, so they used the briefcase to avoid that. Great job TNA! Great job Frontline! I'm backing you now..

And this is where I turned off the show. I just couldn't keep watching.

We spoke and maybe they heard. Last week's show wasn't great

but the first half hour i saw so far.. and i stopped it to post because it was AWESOME.

MEM talks. Hernandez cashes in.. says here's the real mafia - LAX Style.... mem beat him down. troops come out, beat down, then 3d including bubba returns.. puts Angle through a table

commercial

comes back. .d-von cut a great promo and says he wants angle and they never proved themsleves as singles wrestlers

bubba furthered teh sting intrigue by saying sting did the worst thing possible and did nothing while mem almost killed him. he said sting knew it was wrong, and that he's a cheat/liar and he's exposing himself. bubba challenges sting and says he'll be a bull, so he'll take those horns and sh ove it up sting's ass!

They need singles names. "Brother ray" and "Brother D-von" may not be great singles names... i think.. if they are going to at least temporarily pursue singles competition.

Great half hour to start.. very exciting. Booker and Sewell tension heats up too. This feels like a Russo show so far, why? Because it is exciting.. The ending i read is going to be cool too.. because it has the palin stuff.. and TNA is known to be afraid of the net at times.. but it's cool that they're trying to embrace entertainment.. go against the "purists" every now and then although at times they have listened to the net way too much.

I CANT WAIT FOR THE REST!!!

---

i haven't fast forwarded ONE second yet.. just watched the ENTIRE palin/beautiful ppl segment.

Great dialogue with Taylor Wilde insulting the ppl, and the mud dropping on the beautiful ppl was great too. Very VERY entertaining segment.. if i havn't fast forwarded a second of the show, i'm thinking the casual fans that tune in wont either.

so far, SO GOOD.

I can see the ppl online complaining that there was only 8 mins and 34 seconds of wrestling in the first hour or some bullsh*t like that

I find that aspects of the MEM vs. Frontline storyline contradict itself. Take for example Hernandez challenging Sting for the World title. Isn't that what the Frontline would want to see? They'd want to see a young lion take the title from Sting and weaken the MEM. Even the management and people behind the scenes loyal to Jarrett/Foley would want the same thing, right? So why would they allow the MEM to stay out there around ringside where they clearly have the numbers advantage and where they clearly are going to interfere? Why would the frontline not come down to ringside to have the back of Hernandez and make sure there was no interference? And why would Cornette.. or SOMEONE.. not come down and do a similar thing that Stephanie McMahon did and make it clear a DQ, when Hernandez cashes in his Money in the Bank, isn't good enough? It makes the entire FforF seem pointless and meaningless. It furthers absolutely nothing, because Heranandez isn't even getting a rematch (unless I missed something?)

On a plus side, I'm one who isn't so against the way they're playing out Sting's current reign as World title. Yes, he's looking weak and its certainly not overly great, but at least they seem to be building to something that might make sense due to the ground work placed before hand.. in Sting's face turn and MEM turning on him.

I don't, though, see how people are praising the MEM vs. Frontline storyline because its completely lost its purpose. It was meant to be about respect between the old and the new, the young talents and the TNA originals out to prove themselves and take the spots of the MEM. How is that happening? Someone please tell me how anything about that is being played out right now? Where's Samoa Joe? Where's AJ Styles? They're standing in the background watching Rhino, Team 3D fight the war and be the leaders. That completely defeats the freaking purpose!

The last PPV has Rhino main eventing for the World title against Sting, this coming PPV has both members of Team 3D in SINGLES competition against the top stars of the MEM. Wow. That's going to sell tickets! That's a good way to push the young talent and give the younger guys the spotlight. I hate the MEM vs. Frontline storyline, for the simple reason its become something it shouldn't have been but was so obvious it was going to become. LAX gets beat down, AJ Styles gets beat down, and Team 3D make the save.. where are the Originals who are being pushed? Where are the young guys at all? They don't even seem to be IN the storyline anymore.

And to end the show with the Beautiful People segment. My GOD that was horrible.
And this is entertainment?

But TNA's wrestling is good!

Rob, I think you turned the show off half way through. The Beautiful People segment was in the middle.

Before I review this week's 'iMPACT!', I want you all to know something. I have before me a computer screen, constructed off what seems to be glass. I would rather punch through this computer screen with my bare hands, grab a shard of glass, cut my penis off with it and then devour said disembodied sexual organ than watch that show again.

I turned off Fargo for this. Fargo. I thought "Hey, I'm going to see this live next week, best keep up to date". I wish I hadn't. I think I have post traumatic stress syndrome from just watching TNA. Somebody fucking quote me on that, please. The people must know, they must be warned.

The show starts on a relative high with a Kurt Angle promo. He is the best promo cutter in the entire company, after all. All well and good. The crowd don't seem into it - they seem completely asleep. Occasionally, some of them will half-heartedly sort of groan; it's genuinely impossible to tell what they're trying to say. This does not change throughout the entire show. I think I can sympaphise, though.

Hernandez comes out. By this point, I've seen it so much, I only ejaculate a little. Hernandez looks like a bad ass, Sting breaks it up by doing some rest holds. Hernandez finally gets back in control, but MEM screw him over. Fantastic shirt throw by Steiner. The original plan may have been to let Hernandez win the title, but the MEM saw how good that shirt throw was and didn't want to waste it. It was incredible. The most remarkable thing all night.

Everyone and their mum runs in, cue a tedious beat down that seems to last an eternity. Ends up with 3D putting someone through a table. Well I never. Team 3D cut separate promos. AJ puts on his "what?" face. Again, I can sympathise. Ray cuts promos in such a way that you know he's a complete cunt in real life.

Beautiful people then take up half the fucking show with their bullshit. Cute Kip remains kinda cute. I think we all get how shit all this was, but yeah, it was really, really, really, really, really shit. I tried bludgeoning myself to death with a candle stick. The pay-ff of this more than half hour borefest? Taylore Wilde and Roxxy coming out to confirm that women can't cut promos and activate the anti-climax that is TBP getting "mucked". It takes about twenty minutes to clean out the ring of all the shit, and then they start cleaning out the brown stuff they dropped on the shit. I wonder why the fuck Beer Money and the Guns are absent from the card. I'm at the point of tears.

Oh, and there was a MEM promo in there somewhere. Steiner was coherent. Fantastic.

Then there's some Kongtourage bullshit. They continue to confirm that girls can't cut promos and say they're out to prove that women can't wrestle either. Not really, I'd lie if I said I were listening. Bolt cuts a poor heel promo which is immediately undermined by a "Rough Cut" on her. Whoever edits this show should undergo that whole penis-ripping thing.

Then the Kongtourage, sans Kong, have a six-woman street fight. This is TNA, alright. The entrances then take ten minutes and you can hear farts, that's how much the audience does not give a shit. The match starts and almost immediately gets cut off by an ad break. Again, what gaggle of ******s have TNA hired to edit this show? I have mental notes that ODB almost completely forgot to sell in the middle of the ring. She sat up, then promptly lay down again, apparently remembering. She then, I shit you not, began stroking her crotch. It's over, I think the good guys win. Shitty women have taken up half the show and whatever kind of soul I had left has now completely disappeared.

Another MEM promo. Booker's not African any more. Fantastic.

Matt Morgan comes out. I'm desperately trying to get this candle holder to puncture my skull. Alas, no luck, and I have to sit through him not being able to wrestle. Don West says Abyss and Morgan have no chemistry. I yell "No shit!". Lethal Consequences have grown on me but the two teams have no chemistry with each other. Jay Lethal has the best two minutes of the show (probably) all to himself. The ending was OK, I guess. Quite well orchestrated. Morgan and Abyss have a tedious brawl and I wonder where the fuck all these security guys are when Angle is caving people's skulls in. Oh, and there was a break during the match. Who the fuck edits this!?

MEM promo. Steiner's coherent and Booker's not African. I'm simply blown away.

Jay Lethal's webography. It made me lol and momentarily stop trying to bludgeon myself to death. Then I remember I had to sit through an hour of watching women trying to do things men do much better and I continue.

Brutus Magnus promo. Jake was right, he does like to do 80s style promos... and they're shit. Still, at least he's confident. What the fuck ever happened to Doug Williams?

Foley cuts a promo. Meh.

A Scott Steiner/AJ Styles match. I dunno what to expect. It should be entertaining. "On the 8th day, God created AJ Styles" reads one sign. I like it. Match starts OK but guess what? Yeah, another fucking ad break. Who edits this shit!? It comes back. The crowd is dead, even when AJ gets spotty. Weird. Steiner almost kills AJ with a botched Belly-to-Belly. AJ seems to go stiff, throwing Steiner hard into the chair and legitimately punching him in the face. Or so I think. I'm entertained.

The big climax of the evening? Petey Williams returning. Now I know how the girl feels.

Overall, I give this show 2/10. I lost my soul, half my face and nearly my penis. However, it did have AJ Styles.

Rob, I think you turned the show off half way through. The Beautiful People segment was in the middle.

Oh, really? Well it certainly felt like fucking two hours!

On another note. I am utterly amazed at how many talents were left off this show, completely, so that people who shouldn't even have television time got to be on it and make a horrible product. And I didn't even watch the entire show! On another note: If Petey Williams was attacked by Steiner, taken out like a mafia hit, and now hates Steiner and is on the side of the Frontline against him.. why in the world does he still have dyed hair and a goatee like Scott Steiner? I'd think that would make him very angry. And if he's secretly WITH the MEM and is waiting to turn on the Frontline all sneaky like, doesn't that make it a bit too obvious he's a black sheep?

TheOneBigWill's 'take' on iMPACT!, Thursday January 15th, 2009:

In a very long time, iMPACT! and T.N.A. (to me) have returned to a place I haven't seen them in quite often, if ever at all. The top. While Shocky reported something similar in another thread, I have to agree and back him on his opinion, especially after watching iMPACT!. (finally) That being, that T.N.A. is beginning to get more entertaining, and interesting, than the W.W.E.

While I'm not thrilled about the Dudleyz being thrust into a Main Event single's push, much less for the Championship, I would hope and assume it's just a one month program to basically return Bubba Ray to top form and allow him to gain some type of momentum off taking a major beat-down. It may also be the beginning of a split between Kurt Angle and Sting, or more importantly, Sting and the M.E.M.

The Matches:

1. T.N.A. World Heavyweight Championship: Sting (c) v. Hernandez: While the show started off in what resembled the old style W.C.W./n.W.o. type of way, it was abruptly interrupted by Hernandez, with his Feast or Fired case. Hernandez said that if the M.E.M. wanted to talk about hits, than he had one for Sting.

The match itself was all about Hernandez being the next possible Main Event wonder, while it was everything against Sting being a credible World Champion. Within the match, at least Sting did begin to finally show some heelish tactics, using the ropes against the officials demand, to choke Hernandez, but outside of that and a Scorpion Death-Drop that barely got a 2-count, Sting had zero offense.

Hernandez looked to have the match won, when he went for a Border-Toss, only for Booker T. to toss a t-shirt into the ring, blindly Hernandez (nice toss) while the rest of M.E.M. attacked the larger L.A.X. member, drawing the match to a DQ finish.

Homicide came to the aid of his friend and Tag partner, but ended up getting the same treatment, as M.E.M. was too much for the X-Division superstar. A.J. Styles tried coming out as well, but began receiving the same treatment until the return fo Brother Ray and his new Main Event partner, Devon, hit the ring and made the save. Winner by DQ: Hernandez (bitch by association: Sting)

2. 6-Knockout Tag Team Match: Roxxi, Taylor Wilde & O.D.B. v. Kongtourage: They hit on the story of O.D.B. winning the 6-Knockout match at Genesis, and as a result she'll receive a Knockout's title shot. This was basically your average match, in an attempt to soften up the newest number one contender.

I've come to learn a couple things based off this match. First, outside of Saeed/Melissa, noone in the Kongtourage knows anything about the craft known as Pro Wrestling. Khan is a female version of the Great Khali, without the mobility. Bolt is just plain boring and uninteresting, not to mention fitting the description of a Kongtourage member very well.. in that she's butt-ass ugly.

Roxxi is finally starting to look like a suitable female again, hopefully she doesn't agree to shave her head anymore, especially with more "special" deals like the one she basically got the last time around. I just hope that screwjob was the best she's ever had, because it was certainly one hell of one to me, from an outside perspective. Taylor Wilde is becoming boring, and plain, but she still fits nicely into the mold of having a random Knockout take part in matches. Finally, O.D.B. looks to single-handedly become the next face of the division, as-per request by the fans. Winners: O.D.B., Roxxi & Taylor Wilde

3. #1. Contender's Tag Team Match: Lethal Consequences v. Matt Morgan & Abyss: They mentioned Morgan's unapproval of Abyss truly being involved in the Tag matches, and basically Morgan wanting to be a one-man Tag team. They also mentioned that while Lethal & Creed were only Champions for a few days, they've had a taste of the gold, and never technically lost the straps. (It's what I've been trying to say all along, noone's buying it Tennay)

This match shows just how awkward a regular-styled Tag team match w/ two Heavyweights (Super Heavyweights) against two Cruiserweights (X-Division regulars) would be.. I'm just thankful Abyss & Morgan look to be coming to a close. I would expect maybe a "make-up" session, followed by the final nail in the coffin of this clusterfuck of a Tag team.

Meanwhile, the ending of this match came when Abyss accidentally powerbombed his opponent onto Morgan. Does that truly make you believe Lethal & Creed are worthy of a Tag Team Championship match? They more or less, literally, fell into the title shot. Winners: Lethal Consequences

Promos/Segments:

Frontline: Brother Devon is getting a bit too much of a single's ego. :lmao: He's decided that just because he's done everything there is to do as a Tag Team, it's time to set his standards upon the single's ranks.. starting with, oh, that one guy.. you know.. Kurt f'n Angle, the Wrestling machine!

Not to be out-done, Brother Ray mentioned that he's also willing to become a single's wrestler, and his standards in re-attempting single's stardom is a Heavyweight Championship match, with Sting. Hey, why the fuck not. Rhino & Hernandez have both made Sting their bitch.. I'm sure Ray with Devon could make it a gang-rape.

M.E.M.: After the opening segment in which Kurt Angle was put through a table, thanks in part to Brother Ray, he apparently re-injured his neck. Thus, the Main Event of Angle/Styles 7,394,730,872,086 was cancelled and another member of M.E.M. would have to step up.

While Booker T. & Scott Steiner tried settling the answer of who'd Main Event that night with a rousing game of "eeny, meenie, miney, moe" the more unsettling issue was, where did Sting go? After his prison bitch segment w/ Hernandez, he wasn't seen again for the rest of the night.

Also it should be pointed out, it looks like Shane Sewell is going to be the next individual in-line for a Legend's Championship opportunity. (way to bury the title that's had roughly two defenses, nice job )

Rough Cut: Sojournor Bolt: I have to admit, I heard her mention that only her Momma could call her Sojournor and then I had to get to the bathroom. I didn't bother rewinding to see the Rough Cut segment, because, well let's face it.. A.) She's a heel, and B.) She's still technically a jobber to me. Why the fuck would I want to get to know her?

The Beautiful People: After literally what feels like monthes of fucking around with the two most over Knockout's in the division, this stupid storyline has finally come to an end. The result is likely going to be Taylor Wilde & Roxxi against the Beautiful People at Against All Odds.

Basically put, this was the one weak part of the show, as it involved "slimming" or rather what seemed to be "pooing" the Beautiful People. I'm just thankful it's over, now we can get back to less clothing, more make-up and much much more sex appeal. Long live the reason the Knockout division is half-way enjoyable!

Jeff Jarrett Update: I didn't get a clear update, but I'm sure it went something along the lines of.. "Jeff Jarrett suffered severe injuries thanks in part to the storyline we've laid out for you. He'll likely return by Lockdown, in April, to form a Tag Team to go into battle against the M.E.M. for another addition of Lethal Clusterfuck. Unless Foley wants to take charge in that, in which case, Jarrett will see you at Slammiversay, when he reclaims his King of the Mountain title.. we hope." I do too, Jeff, I do too.

Main Event: Grudge Match: A.J. Styles v. Scott Steiner (w/ Mick Foley as Special Enforcer): Without a doubt, one of the better Main Event's I've seen in a while. This is what a televised Main Event should be. It's not a match I'd wanna see on Pay per view, but it's a very solid Main Event match for iMPACT!, and with a purpose-filled ending to add with it.

Styles & Steiner went back and forth, the official took a bump, Foley took a pipe to the back, Petey motha fucking Williams returned!!! And Styles got the victory off it. Winner: A.J. Styles

Overall Thoughts: As I've said, this iMPACT! was one of the best they've done in a while. I stayed glued to my seat during 90% of the entire broadcast, just shy of the Rough Cut segment which will likely lead up to Against All Odds.

Furthermore, I've seen the out-line that I believe T.N.A. will roughly plan to use at Against All Odds. (please check the Against All Odds p.p.v. section for that out-line.)

I think T.N.A. needs to continue with exactly what they're doing. They're finally listening to the fans, they're finally getting control of how to give good Main Events, without giving away great matches for free. The only problem is the issue with still needing to learn how to properly weed out your division ranks. Kip James, Brother Ray, Brother Devon & Rhino should NOT be anywhere near the Main Event. Team 3D is excluded slightly, as they are allowed if it's a multi-man Tag match.

The assumed Kurt Angle against Devon, Sting against Ray matches, or cluster-fuck-all match.. is what I would greatly sell on an iMPACT! before, or directly after a Pay per view. But definately NOT on 'a' Pay per view. In the end, I give iMPACT! an 8 outta 10.

Clusterfuck. What a complete clusterfuck.

I don't know how ANYONE could say this past iMPACT was anything other than shit. I watch a wrestling program to watch actual wrestling! Not fricken promos all night long. The show opened up good, and the Hernandez "feast or fired" cash-in was suprising to me, but the match lasted no longer than 4 minutes. Seriously, is he that fricken stupid? Are we supposed to believe that he had no idea that the Main Event Mafia was going to interfere, I mean Angle, Booker T and Scott Steiner were standing around the ring for the entire match. It was way too predictable for my liking.

Then, I was moaning and moaning for an hour after that. Why was I, you may ask? Well, the answer is fairly simple: There was nothing on the show but boring promos. No matches or anything. That is pretty disappointing considering it's the show after a damn pay per view. Does the Main Event Mafia need to have multiple promos every single week? It's beyond ridiculous. But the promos involving the Beautiful People are much worse. Seriously, what do the bookers actually think when they write those promos? Do they actually believe anyone is going to be entertained by them?

I missed the Knockouts Match and the tag team #1 contenders match, mainly because I had guests over and I no longer cared about this clusterfuck of a show. Roughcut needs to go. Seriously, I don't give a fuck about their personal lives, I want to see wrestling, not boring and pointless promos. The same goes for that Webography crap or whatever it's called.

The only good thing about this show that I couldn't pick on was the Main Event. I would have been happy with a Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles main event. But I settled for a Steiner vs Styles main event. It was a damn fine match. Steiner actually impressed me, and AJ was as good as always. I can't undestand how Mick Foley was the enforcer, yet he was outside the ring for the entire match. TNA confuses me between enforcers and referees. This match had both. AJ picking up the win was refreshing instread of the boring Mafia beatdowns we see each week. Petey Williams returned in shocking fashion and the ending to the match made me smile. If only the whole show was of that standard, I wouldn't be complaining.

If the main event wasn't that good, I don't even want to think of how bad this show would have been. I'll give it a 3 out of 10. 3 points because of the great Main Event and because Angle finally went through a fricken table!

Clusterfuck. What a complete clusterfuck.

No, clusterfuck is what T.N.A. puts on for Pay per views. This is iMPACT!, and I've finally come to learn that T.N.A. is still believing that they're living inside the "weekly Pay per view" realm. Thus is why they've constantly (up until now, anyways) been giving away classic p.p.v. type matches, then filling their actual p.p.v.'s with shit.

I don't know how ANYONE could say this past iMPACT was anything other than shit. I watch a wrestling program to watch actual wrestling! Not fricken promos all night long. Where do I start. How is this not instantly getting you pumped up? Sure you believe M.E.M. is going to jump in and the match will be stopped, but who's to say that's truly how it would've ended?

Any number of situations could've happened. Homicide & A.J. Styles, along with everyone else in Frontline could've came down when the first M.E.M. member tried interfering, and it could've turned into an unofficial lumberjack match. Shit, Hernandez believeably and realistically could've won this match and the title.

They did a great job with making him look like he deserves to be the next Champion, and they truly made Sting look even worse. The only likely outcome to continue this and make the fans hate M.E.M. that much more, was an interference call that got the match thrown out.

Then, I was moaning and moaning for an hour after that. Why was I, you may ask? Well, the answer is fairly simple: There was nothing on the show but boring promos. No matches or anything. The Beautiful People are ratings grabbers. You'll learn that once your balls drop.

And maybe you should've been watching iMPACT! instead of flipping channels, and moaning about nothing being on, because there was a match on every other segment practically. You whine about nothing being on for an hour.. fuck man, 2-3 matches were on alone in the first hour, heading over into the second. And don't even tell me Raw doesn't do similar shit.

What the FUCK did we just witness on this past week's Raw? NOTHING, absofuckinglutely nothing!

So let me get this straight, you invited friend's over to join in your circle jerk and you missed two of the matches on iMPACT!, then you have the nerve to turn around and whine and moan about not seeing any? You didn't even pay attention to the show, what the hell are you even reviewing this for, just to complain randomly?!

Put your keyboard away and go to school. Learn how to be a proper poster and come back when you've figured out you need to watch the show in order to review it.

And don't give me that crap about "I no longer cared, so I quit watching" crap. The Knockout's match was directly after the M.E.M. opening.. so either you flipped away instantly, meaning you didn't give it a chance, or you were lying completely.

That's the benefit of watching a full show. You get why things happen, geez Rusty, think for once.

Mick Foley is apart of Frontline, yet he's also a "shareholder" (ie. decision maker) in T.N.A. through storylines. So because M.E.M. (in the opening segment YOU claim to have seen) said they were going to put a hit on both of them, that's why Foley was there basically.. to watch A.J.'s back.

And you're right, the Steiner/Styles Main Event was good. It wasn't great, but television Main Event's aren't suppose to be perfect, they're suppose to continue in telling a story.. and this one did, the return of Petey Williams.

If the main event wasn't that good, I don't even want to think of how bad this show would have been. I'll give it a 3 out of 10. 3 points because of the great Main Event and because Angle finally went through a fricken table!

Even if you did give it a 3 outta 10, that's 3 more than I gave this past Monday's Raw. :disappointed: T.N.A. wins this weeks battle in my opinion. And their storylines are slowly beginning to win the war over anything regarding Cena/J.B.L., or Orton/Legacy, or even Punk/I.W.C.
