I thought it was okay. Personally, I liked it a lot better than the original "Rock concert" that took place last year. That entire "concert" segment lasted somewhere around 30 minutes and just dragged on forever.

This time, I'd say it went about 10 minutes. I thought his jokes were kind of funny, typical stuff from The Rock but I enjoyed it most when he got serious and called out CM Punk. They played the first part of the segment off as The Rock just having a little fun, caught up in celebrating the 20th anniversary of Raw but he got down to business and put the focus back on CM Punk and the WWE Championship. I also like the fact that they're still not having Punk give into Rock's goading, that his insults bounce off him like bullets on Superman's chest. They're keeping this feud with him & Punk very even. Having Punk take the fight to The Rock was a nice little touch that only kept up the storyline of the two of them basically being on an level field.

I think some of the complaints I've read a further indication that the Attitude Era simply wouldn't not work in today's society. The complaints I've read about The Rock are what have generally made him a huge star. Of course The Rock is a douche. He's always been a douche. The Rock refers to himself in the third person. Do you know how much of a raving ego-maniac/asshole you have to be in order to do that? The Rock making fun of Viickie Guerrero and Paul Heyman is an example of what brought him to the dance. I can't think of one wrestler he's feuded with over the course of his career that he hasn't done the exact same thing to. And no, it's not going to be changed ever because The Rock is money. As usual, he had about 14,000 people hanging on his every word and action last night. Everything he did and said garnered a hugely positive response.

All in all, last night's segment worked and ultimately did what it was supposed to. It gave The Rock another opportunity to basically "be himself" as far as his character goes, it gave people a few cheap laughs and it furthered his program with CM Punk.

That was not the original Rock concert as I seen The Rock Concert 2 in Atlanta 10 years ago...

Anyway I got a kick out of it. People complaining about childish remarks well it is a PG show so kind of redundant to even mention. But yeah I think the reason it was done & cut short was lack of creativity. Why do this over & over again? I guess the answer could always be that the WWE has a new audience & would like to show them a piece of what the late Attitude Era received. This is The Rock doing what The Rock does. & CM Punk seems to be turning into a crazier heel than he was before.

Its very simple, The rock got the upper hand last week & Punk got the upper hand this week by not using his music nor his mic skills to show Rock he is ready. All The Rock has to do is keep showing up & he'll be fine because I loved it & it seems like the fans live loved it. I'm starting to get why people in the IWC bash the people in the IWC. Whenever there is a topic about something good in wrestling it's 9 times out of 10 from 12 years ago or more...

I thought Raw last night was pretty solid. Did it have an "epic" feeling to it that you'd expect from a 20th anniversary show? Not necessarily. But, then again, I'm personally glad that they didn't go crazy with nostalgia last night. It may have been the 20th anniversary of Raw, but the WWE is also in the midst of building toward WrestleMania and the Royal Rumble is right around the corner, so having a throwaway night packed with appearances by wrestlers that 90% of the audience probably doesn't even remember wouldn't have accomplished much in my eyes.

I was perfectly satisfied with the various flashback footage shown throughout the show. They showed some things that I haven't thought of in years like the silly gimmick montage, some of the various "weddings" we've seen, the montage with all the various vehicles. Austin & Tyson, etc. it worked just fine for me.

Wrestling action on the show was pretty decent. Barrett vs. Orton was a solid 2.5 star outting in my eyes that was made all the better by Wade Barrett scoring a big clean win over the 9 time World Champion. I honestly expected Orton to just pop up and hit the RKO or something when Barrett went for the Bull Hammer. Big Win for Orton.

The singles matches for Team Hell No & Team Rhodes Scholars were too short to ultimately mean much, but it gave Bryan & Kane revenge for their loss last week and puts things back to an even playing field. Cody Rhodes grooming his mustache was a great bit.

The Divas Championship match was honestly pretty good that featured some good action and some really good near falls here and there. I'd give this match about 2 stars, maybe 2.25, which is damn near unheard of for a Diva match. Kaitlyn got the win but it's too bad that Eve is gone after this match. She's the only Diva with a character, aside from AJ, but AJ is already above the Diva Division.

Punk vs. Clay was alright while it lasted, though nothing special. I think we might have, MIGHT have, seen the beginnings of a character turn for Clay. They brought attention to Punk's insult of Clay last week during his promo and Clay was a lot more serious during his match against Punk. Probably a 1.25 star match.

The over the top rope challenge between Sheamus & 3MB was what it was. Nothing to write home about.

The Cena vs. Ziggler cage match was a fun 3.25 star match though I do admit that it's getting tiresome seeing Ziggler throw EVERYTHING at Cena and not be able to close the deal. A loss here wouldn't have hurt Cena at all. Still, a really competitive match that had a lot of great near falls and teases for cage escapes.

As for the promo segments, the opening segment with Del Rio, Big Show & Vince was okay. Nothing particularly special but it's good to see the WHC scene addressed on Raw and it made the announcement of the match at the Rumble official.

Foley being interrupted in the midst of his HOF announcement by The Shield, only for a big six man brawl to break out was a hot segment. I keep finding myself hoping that The Shield will be announced as taking on Ryback, Sheamus & Orton at the Rumble. It's a perfect opportunity to turn Orton heel, give The Shield another big win while protecting Ryback, and kick things off with the Sheamus/Orton feud.

Punk's brief promo after beating Clay was very good. Nothing over the top, just focus on his match with The Rock while hyping the title and his run with it.

Miz TV was fun. It was nice to see Flair out there in the ring doing some of his classic antics. I don't think Flair was at his best last night, but he's been off television for a while and the segment was generlaly about nostalgia anyhow. I thought Cesaro was really good on the mic here. His comments towards Flair had some zing to them and weren't just cliche heel ramblings. They used the segment to probably push forward a feud between Miz & Cesaro, which WWE has been slowly teasing for several weeks now.

The Rock concert was pretty decent. As I said in the thread about the segment, it was much shorter than the original "concert" last year and didn't drag on. The Rock gave the fans some laughs with some of his trademark wit. I enjoyed the second half of the segment a lot more as it put the focus right back on the WWE Championship and CM Punk. I also like that they're keeping this feud even between the two rather than having The Rock get the better of Punk week in & week out. It also has a completely different feel to it than Cena vs. Rock last year. The WWE is doing a good job of making the focus of this feud the WWE Championship, as they should, where as Cena vs. Rock was all about ego & bragging rights.

If you tuned in last night hoping for tons of nostalgia, I'm sure you were disappointed. Me, I'm glad they kept the focus of the show generally towards hyping the Royal Rumble ppv. The WWE is in the midst of their biggest season, they have The Rock available, there are several hot storylines going right now and they decided to keep the focus of the show on the here & now rather than a throwaway nostalgia show. Works for me. I give last night's show a B.

I thought it was comedy gold. The jokes about Heyman and Vickie had me in stitches. What makes me laugh on here are the idiots who crave for the attitude era yet when The Rock does what he was doing back then they call him a douche or say he's not funny. You can't have it both ways people so enjoy it for what it is.

I was disappointed when I got home last night to discover my DirectTV box had died out of the blue. Luckily I was able to catch a stream of last night's Raw (or most of it). Man was that an atrocious show from what I saw. I don't even know where to begin.

Oh, yes I do. The Rock. There's a gimmick that needs to be dragged out in to the street and publicly flogged. At this point his enthusiasm and happiness seems so forced that it's become almost distracting to me.

But more so, it's starting to feel like almost everything he says is borderline homophobic or misogynistic. His "song" to Vickie was so cringeworthy that it took a lot for me not to just turn the thing off and call it a night.

Personally I've never been someone who has really wanted the Attitude Era back, but I'd like a little edge. The thing is, what the Rock says isn't edgy. It's childish. He's basically John Cena except with a little more charisma, a smoother delivery, and the freedom to swear and say things that are a tad raunchier.

Personally, I felt it was kind of lackluster and it seemed to be slapped together. There were no surprise returns, special appearances, no real emphasis on the past 20 years, other than quick vignettes throughout the night... it felt like just another RAW to me.

I was disappointed, because I felt like there was so much potential and it turned out to be a big letdown. I enjoyed the Cena v. Dolph cage match and I thought it was executed well, but most of the matches were pretty predictable and stale. I expected a lot more from the 20th anniversary special. It wasn't so special, in my opinion. What do you think?

And I do realize Flair, Rock and Foley were there, but they all appeared on the show just a few weeks ago and the Rock is booked for the next couple weeks. Also, and I say this with respect, the Flair-Miz segment was weak. Flair seemed more like a caricature of his former self, than a retired 16 time World Champion. It seemed just rambling and bizarre.

Pretty terrible episode, honestly.

Almost nothing of any level of real entertainment happened.

I'd say Kaitlyn winning the Divas Championship was one of the only things that really interested me in the whole episode and I'm by NO MEANS a big fan of Divas wrestling but it was at least a decent, hard fought match and Kaitlyn is smoking hot so that's always a reason to cheer for the Divas.

As for the "Rock Concert" I think it was pretty terrible. It hurts me to say that because I actually thought the Rock Concert did in 2003 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiozRNbqufM was very good. However, he was doing it as a heel so maybe that made it easier for him to work good humor into the songs. Rock as a face just resorts to VERY childish humor that I've never been a fan of. I had to fast forward the songs about Heyman and Vickie as they were just too juvenile to bare. Surely he could have poked fun at Heyman in other ways then talking about his 'package' and could have poked fun at Vickie without using 'biatch' so much.

This episode is another example of how I think my idea in another thread about having more tournaments would improve the quality of each show.

Instead of having pointless matches tonight (other than the Divas match) they should have been having tournament matches that are setting up Title matches for the Royal Rumble or qualifying Superstars for the #30 spot or #29 spot, etc.

I understand but don't agree with the complaints, it was simply a fun show. Vince was really good working with Show. Del Rio is really growing on me. I was surprised and pleased to see Barrett go over Orton so cleanly. Kaitlyn winning the title wasn't too bad of a match and a nice moment for her. Foley and The Rock was pretty funny. Hell No was entertaining as always. I don't know why I like Dr. Shelby so much. I don't care about The Shield at this point. Flair on Miz TV wasn't exactly an amazing execution but it may have been a huge historic moment if The Miz starts using The Figure Four Leglock. Flair could be his new mentor or manager. They are advancing The Miz/Cesaro feud. Cena/Ziggler was a really entertaining match. 3MB is funny and winning that mini battle royal was kind of entertaining. Ziggler getting knocked out by the briefcase from E helps protect Ziggler a little. The Rock Concert gave me some laughs and I like the way these two get physical makes me think they actually hate each other (unlike Cena/Rock).

And Heyman is so good at smug, he radiates smug.

It was a fun show. A mix of comedy, nostalgia, and good action. I still think the Rock is overrated, but I've always thought that. Didn't think anything he said was laugh out loud funny. Not bad though, it was fun. Solid show.

The Flair stuff was fun. He's a crazy old man...which he is...so what's the deal?

Cant recall the one in Atlanta off the top of my head, but the heel Rock Concert, again I'm not sure if he was a heel in Atlanta... but the one he did in Toronto was hilarious when he was a heel.

Wow Raw was really disappointing as a set up for the Royal Rumble.

1) Why would you take the Shield out of play as the one hope we have for CM Punk not losing clean to the Rock ? Can you at least keep us guessing ? There's no hope Brock Lesnar is going to interfere, the Rock is going to win, thanks for keeping it obvious.

2) Not only was that the worse segment ever to get me excited for the Royal Rumble, did they really try to imply that everyone in the ring was going to be in the rumble ? Oh boy i am getting excited for Mcgulliicutty, Primo, Epico, JTG, Khali, and more !!! These guys better not be in the rumble. come on WWE give us something, some reason to buy the pay per view.

The writing is still horrible, they can't figure out why ratings are in the toliet ? This RAW was hot garbage.

put 30 guys in the rumble without using some jobbers. and maybe this has a point.

WWE Raw - January 21, 2012

Opening Segment - The opener for last night was different but entertaining. Heyman & Vickie both delivered great heat. After they did their thing of berating Rock for a few minutes, they showed a camera backstage with The Rock trying to get into the arena with three "cops" standing in his way. Vickie had banned him from the arena and Rock went on a catchphrase bit on Vickie, Heyman and Punk. The Rock was his usual charismatic self and had the San Jose crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. I'm not that wild about the angle of "banning" wrestlers from the arena, but I'm glad WWE didn't do something ultra stupid here by having The Rock beat up the "cops", which is where I thought they were going when Rock kept saying that he promised he'd be in the "people's ring". It was a good build for later in the night and smart planning on WWE's part with viewers uncertain exactly when Rock was going to come into the arena, meaning more might stay tuned in throughout the show. Thumbs Up

1. Antonio Cesaro vs. Randy Orton in a Beat the Clock Challenge match - I'm usually not crazy about these matches, mostly because WWE tends to have about 6 of them whenever they've done them, resulting in a lot of short matches. This was a good match between the two of them, I think the overall best they've had thus far. The wrestle who wins his match in the fastest time is able to pick his spot in the Royal Rumble, so these matches have a purpose and are putting emphasis on the Rumble match itself. There was a sense of urgency in the match with both Orton & Cesaro going for pin attempts on a very regular basis. At the same time, I like the fact that they didn't put this particular match on a frantic pace as it just doesn't work with guys like Orton & Cesaro. Cesaro earned a couple of very good near falls later in the match with a surprise roll up and the big spot with the Very European Uppercut. Orton did a great job of selling the effects of the move afterward. Cesaro looked strong here and it was nice to hear Lawler do something on commentary besides giggle & tell lousy jokes. Cesaro rams Orton into the post at one point, causing Orton to fall outside. Cesaro pushes him back in and, as he's about to climb into the ring, he looks back at the clock to check the time. Orton takes advantage of the distraction and pops up with an RKO for the win at the 11 minute 36 second mark. I would've liked to have seen Cesaro pick up the win, given that Barrett beat Orton clean last week, as another step towards Orton's heel turn, but Cesaro looked strong here and I liked that Lawler cushioned things by mentioning the distraction of the clock. ***

Shield Vignette - This was sort of a video compilation of The Shield's greatest hits thus far. There was also some new footage in the hand held camcorder promos they've done. All in all, a nice bit of footage that keeps The Shield fresh in people's minds. Thumbs Up

2. Zack Ryder vs. Big Show - No real point to this. He beat him down for a few seconds, hit the KO punch and got the win. He then leaves in a huff after the crowd starts to what him all over the place. I'm not that about WWE making Big Show into some big, huffing crybaby. At the same time, it was good use of Brad Maddox out there being his annoying self on commentary. I'm seeing what WWE saw in this guy as he has a lot of personality. NA

Paul Heyman & Brad Maddox - Heyman is backstage talking to someone on the phone when he's interrupted by Brad Maddox. Maddox does his thing for a bit before Heyman adopts this subtle, shrewd expression before stating that he respects his initiating and admires his ambition. He also tells Maddox that he's big enough to admit when he was wrong. He shakes Maddox's hand and tells him to stick with him and he'll make him famous. This was an interesting bit that might play out later. It's intriguing to think of what Heyman might be talking about or what he has in store. Thumbs Up

3. Ryback vs. Heath Slater - Typical "old school" Ryback squash. Nothing much to say about it. NA

The Rock & Vickie Guerrero - About the top of the 9 pm hour, The Rock is still out there talking with the "cops" and continues his bit and still has everyone eating out of his hand, including the "cops". Vickie comes out and confronts The Rock, saying she wanted him arrested. One of the "cops" tells Vickie that he isn't breaking any law or her order so long as he remains right where he is. Vickie gets upset at him and threatens to go to his superior officer before The Rock interrupts her. He tells her that he will be in the "people's ring" before Vickie told her she might have a change of heart if he apologizes. The Rock says he'll go out there on his own terms, not hers before saying "bitch, you still look horrible tonight", causing Vickie to storm off. Thumbs Up

CM Punk - Punk comes out for a promo segment and got a pretty strong face response from the San Jose crowd. Punk delivered a great, intense all out heel promo. He was strictly business here and went for pure heat. Punk did an awesome job of putting over the importance of the WWE Championship throughout his promo and it leaves me hoping for another big promo standoff between him & The Rock. Thumbs Up

4. The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler in a Beat the Clock Challenge match - I thought this was a very fun, really high paced match between these two. They worked a faster pace than Orton & Cesaro but it never felt like it was frantic. Miz showed more polish in this match than I was expecting and it was nice to see him & Ziggler trading near falls at various points throughout the match. As usual, Ziggler looked like a champ selling Miz's offense. At one point late in the match, just as Miz slaps on the Figure Four, AJ leaps up onto the apron distracting the ref while Big E. reaches in, grabs Ziggler by the hand and pulls him over to the ropes. The ref turns around and forces Miz to relinquish the hold. Big E. provides a slight distraction to Miz, allowing Ziggler to recover. He pops up and hits the Zig Zag on Miz for the win and sets a new time of 10 minutes 56 seconds. ***1/4

Anger Management Graduation - I thought this segment was hilarious. Unlike last week when Shelby showed up, this in-ring segment was very much in the same league as the classic Anger Management segments from last year. Shelby explained that he was proud of both of them and that they were the first graduates of his class. He tells them that the Valedictorian would "share their feelings" and as a final test, he'd let them decide to the Valedictorian was out of the two of them. Bryan & Kane both insisted the other was and they did a good job of selling their awkwardness at sharing their feelings before getting into an argument. Shelby goes off on them and the fans start to deliver a pretty strong "Dr. Shelby" chant. Shelby then asks them if a hug would make them feel better. He goes onto suggest that everyone should hug. Kane & Bryan come to life here and ask if Lawler & King would hug each other. After a few moments, they do so and the crowd pops. They then ask of the time keeper & Justin Roberts would do it and they shrug before doing it. Kane & Bryan energetically ask if everyone in the crowd will hug each other. A fair number of fans do it but not all. The rest that were shown, who weren't hugging, were just laughing and enjoying the segment. The segment ends with Shelby, Kane & Bryan having a group hug with Bryan's music playing. Some will probably hate this but I enjoyed the crap out of it. It's just a perfect example of how unusual this whole storyline has been, yet has worked extremely well. Thumbs Up

5. Kaitlyn vs. Alicia Fox - An okay Diva match while it lasted, though Eve's departure has really hurt the Divas as a whole. Now, who does Kaitlyn feud with? I'm guessing Tamina or possibly a heel turn from Layla as she was shown coveting the Divas Championship this past Friday. Kaitlyn gets the win via the spear. *

The Paul Bomb - The first part of this was Heyman in the center of the ring using small words to explain what Punk was talking about. Basically, the first half was designed purely to generate heat on Heyman. Suddenly, The Rock's music hits and he comes out on stage to a big pop. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a ticket stub, indicating that he'd bought a ticket and was allowed into the arena. It doesn't make a lick of sense, I know, and I'm sure some smarks or dirtsheet writers will bitch & moan about this one little thing as justification to pan the entire show or some other bullshit. The Rock hits the ring and does his thing for a bit before insulting Heyman, calling him "Twinkie Tits" and tells him to get his fat ass out of the ring. Heyman leaves before The Rock addresses CM Punk, who is sitting up in the Skybox watching things. The Rock gave a serious, intense promo here and I think it's what was needed. He didn't focus on pulling catchphrases out of his ass, he wasn't trying so much to endear himself to the fans, he kept his focus on Punk & hyping their match at the Rumble this Sunday. I thought it was a nice touch for The Rock to mention MLK, which drew a good pop, and reference a few lines from his "I Have a Dream" speech. As The Rock is about to do his "If you smell..." bit, the lights go out for a few seconds. They come back on and The Shield is in the ring beating down The Rock. The Rock gets in a brief flurry of offense before they ultimately take him down. They beat him down for a little more before putting him in the Triple Powerbomb and leave him lying. In the Skybox, Punk has a mic and stands up. He tells The Rock that there's only room at the top of the mountain for one man. As The Rock referenced freedom from Punk's reign, Punk states that The Rock will have to pay a price for his freedom. He tells The Rock that it's cute that he has a dream but, eventually, he has to wake up. He goes on to state that The Rock will realize that even though he calls himself The Great One, he isn't great enough to beat the best in the world. The Rock did a great job of selling the effects of the attack and The Rock definitely had some bleeding going on inside his mouth as he was spitting out blood on the mat. A strong overall segment in my eyes and great hype for the title match. Thumbs Up

6. Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett in a Beat the Clock Challenge match - Again, another match that I thought was a lot of fun. It's fun seeing Barrett & Sheamus go at it. They both have a very similar, physical looking style in the ring and they just mesh really well together. The pace wasn't as fast as Miz & Ziggler, nor should it have been expected to be so with two guys of their size & styles. The pace really picked up in the last couple of minutes and the crowd really came alive as the tension built as to whether or not Sheamus or Barrett would beat the time. Sheamus soon hits White Noise and is setting up for the Brogue Kick when AJ suddenly runs into the ring, for maybe 3 seconds, providing a distraction. As Sheamus runs back towards Barrett, as the ref was ejecting AJ, Barrett catches Sheamus in the Winds of Change slam for a good near fall. As both are recovering, they're in opposite corners with Barrett moving his elbow pad down to go for the elbow. Sheamus is in the other corner and as they charge toward each other, Sheamus lands the Brogue Kick. However, as he's going for the pin, the clock runs out without the ref even making a 1 count. The match is a draw as Sheamus & Barrett fail to beat the time of 10 minutes 56 seconds. Ziggler & his posse celebrate outside while Sheamus sells his anger & disappointment in the ring. ***

Dolph & Vickie Backstage - Shortly after this match, Ziggler & his gang are backstage in Vickie's office. Ziggler & AJ share a passionate kiss, much to Vickie's chagrin. Ziggler even makes something of a joke by sort of singing to AJ that she looks wonderful tonight, referencing The Rock's parody of the Clapton song last week on Raw to Vickie. Ziggler excitedly talks about his choices, mentioning that he could come in at #30 or that he might pick #27 as it's produced more winners than any other Rumble number. Vickie smiles and says that he's mistaken. She never said that the stipulation of the Beat the Clock Challenge was that he could pick his spot, it's that he could pick a number. She says that he has the choice of picking either #1 or #2. I enjoyed the little twist as it's a good opportunity for Ziggler to deliver a huge performance at the Rumble, plus Vickie being vindictive towards Ziggler for rubbing her face into things with his relationship with AJ and for his little joke. Some will hate it but, as usual, a lot of haters don't see the big picture. Thumbs Up

Vince McMahon - As Punk & Heyman are walking backstage, they run into Vince McMahon. Vince goes on about how Punk & The Shield are involved. Before things spin out of control with Punk & Vince, Heyman steps in to be the voice of reason, and explains to Vince that there's not one shred of evidence to suggest that they're working together. He even tells Vince that The Shield have attack the likes of Orton, Sheamus, Ryback, Cena and others. Vince considers the possibility that they're right, but tells them that if The Shield interferes in the title match Sunday, he'll strip Punk of the WWE Championship. It was an effective segment that sold viewers on the notion of the match having a clean finish. It also makes me wonder if Brad Maddox will interfere in the match instead, as Vince never mentioned him and it seems that Maddox is now a "Paul Heyman guy". Thumbs Up

7. Alberto Del Rio vs. Tensai - I don't think much happened here but I couldn't be sure, my satellte went on the fritz for a few minutes. NA

John Cena - I wish my satellite had gone on the fritz for this. Cena was beyond awful here in my opinion. Cena can be damn good on the mic but he's pretty insufferable when he's out there in this mode. About 90% of his promo was pure nonsense and was the low point of the show in my opinion. After he declares he'll win the Rumble, the entrance music of several other stars hits with each of them coming out one at a time to say that they're going to win the Rumble. Eventually, the ring fills up and we have a big Royal Rumble style brawl with guys going over the top rope and all that. It was a decent final pitch for the Rumble match but Cena's cornball promo killed the whole segment for me. Thumbs Down

Final Thoughts - I thought last night's go home Raw was an entertaining show overall. The low points of the show were Cena's promo, by far in my opinion, and the extraordinary lack of build for the World Heavyweight Championship match. I guess they're just going to wait until SmackDown! for that. I enjoyed the rest of the show as the focus of it was squarely on Punk vs. The Rock and the Royal Rumble match itself. The BTCC matches were all three strong, entertaining matches that were better than I'd expected. Ziggler got the best time but Vickie screws him over by saying that he only gets to choose between #1 and #2. As I said, it's a good chance for Ziggler to deliver a memorable Rumble performance. I thought the Anger Management graduation was a lot of fun and it showed the unique chemistry that's ultimately made Bryan & Kane the best tag team of 2012. The Rock's various promos were well done but I enjoyed the last one of the night the most. The Rock can deliver fantastic promos no matter what, but I was so glad to hear him give the catchphrases a rest for this. He's made a lot of jokes about Vickie & Heyman but they've booked him as being very serious about his match with Punk. The Shield beatdown was a nice touch as was Vince later saying that he'd strip the title from Punk if they interfered this Sunday. It leads you to wonder if Brad Maddox will attempt to interfere and, if he does, whether or not he'll be successful. There were some flaws in the show. As I said, they didn't do much to hype the WHC match aside from announcing that it'd be a Last Man Standing match, which should be great as their last one was. There were logic holes in Vickie banning The Rock from the arena, yet him being able to come into the ring after "buying" a ticket. That one's extremely minor though. WWE knows that the selling points of this year's Rumble are the Royal Rumble match itself and the WWE Championship match.

Grade: B+

Nice review overall Jack-Hammer. As usual you sre spot on with most things, the only thing I disagree about is Cena's promo. I actually quite enjoyed it. I was expecting Rhodes Scholars to interupt the anger management segment but that segment was funny as hell despite that.

I left last night with a mediocre taste in my mouth however, when I go segment by segment and judge most everything was entertaining. The BTC matches were enjoyable, The Rock was terrific, Punk was good, Heyman was excellent, The Rock took a nice beatdown, Brad Maddox is starting to grow on me, Hell No was fun, Vicky's swerve on Dolph was a surprise, and I really liked Del Rio's new character.

Three things stand out though:
1) Miz's Figure Four - I want to blame someone but I can't decide from how bad it looked. I can't decide if I blame the Miz for not getting a strong hold or Captain Flippity Flop for not giving Miz the chance to lock it in properly because he's too busy be overly dramatic with his "selling".

2) When The Rock stood next to Vicky both dressed in leather it had looked like the same person had dressed them. Come on WWE, logic dammit! Logic!

3) I really liked the way both Hell No and Cena had segments where they were pointing out actual fans from ringside. It looked like a lot of fun for those people.

In the end it was pretty good show, I was just not feeling too well last night to enjoy much of anything.

Nice review again Jack Hammer, I agree with pretty much most of that.

I especially agree with the thumbs down on that final segment!

Now I like John Cena, but that promo sucked!!! For me it needed to be one of his passion filled shouty promos. Not a hey kids lets talk about Xbox! It was god awful!

And then the classic cheesy "I'm gonna win the rumble" segment got old after the first three guys! It was poorly executed.

Just silly things, like filling the ring with the jobbers who aren't even gonna be in the rumble. Or letting 3MB talk (who had already had a match) and not Rhodes Scholars (who hadn't!)

I understand they aren't going to let on who the surprise entrants to the rumble are gonna be, but at least tease us about it! I'm still unsure if in gonna buy the rumble ( although I may buy it on Punk/Rock alone) but I am not excited about the rumble match tbh!

Anyway about Raw ... I enjoyed it generally last night, but as a fan watching live in the UK, you feel a bit cheated after staying up till 4am and that being the finale of the show!!

Did anyone else notice how bad Miz botched the figure four last night? It looked like he was going for a sharpshooter, realized that's the wrong move, and than just laid down and put his other leg on top of the mess he just maid. I like Miz, he is good on the mic and decent in the ring as well. But if he's going to go any further with the figure four than he has to get the move down. It really isin't that hard of a hold. I used to put it on my younger brother all the time back in the day. I'm a lefty so I would lead with my left. So I would grab the opponents left leg, cross over their leg with my left leg while spinning, than with the opponents leg now bent place it on top of their other leg, fall to the ground and with my right leg place it over the opponents left foot to apply pressure.

If I could do it when I was 10, their is no reason Miz should mess it up.

My 3 Favorite things from Raw last night were The Diva's match, the KAne/D.Bryan Graduation and the Cena Promo. That's pretty much everything that i like from last night show. The rest was lame and predictable. Let's start with the beat the clock Challenge. Probably one of the worst BTC challenge in history. You only had 3 match in this one and All the matches lasted over 10 minutes. Then to top it all off, after giving it to Dolph Ziggler, you reveal that he as to pick as to begin the rumble. Wow!, Sheamus and Orton most be really happy about not winning this thing now.

The you have CM Punk Promo, which are starting to get more and more boring by the minute. I use to be a big fan of Punk but now i just want to see him lose the belt and go back into obscurity because he's becoming annoying.

Same goes for the shield which are starting to make me thing of another popular stable that pretty much doing the same thing in TNA and that's ACes & Eights. The only difference right now between the Shield and Aces & Eights is that The Shield isn't losing matches on a regular base. Sadly The Shield went from being very great to becoming a cope out for WWE when they don't know what to make a babyface look weak.

The Rock Promo, wasn't that great, pretty much the same thing as the last 2 weeks and pretty much telegraphing the ending of his match at the rumble.

Finally, The Big Show vs Zach Ryder and De Del rio vs Tensai matches. What was the point of that really, also why have a rematch with the same stipulation at the PPV. That's pretty much just lazy booking.

For a go home show, it wasn't a great show and if it wasn't for the last segment with Cena, i was really considering not ordering the PPV because of how bad that show was book.

I think Raw hit it good with the Beat the clock challenge. All three matches was very solid and I'm glad none of the matches didn't end in 2mins.
Also the promo from CM Punk was just fantastic, he makes you believe that there's a real chance at the Royal Rumble he walks out as champion. Then you have The Rock, what can you say anything bad? Nothing. He cuts a few promos and nails it like always, these two men has great chemistry and it shows every week .
Wwe did a good job throwing The Shield in the mix, gives a good twist to the main event.
Now John Cena... Holy Shit he was awful! While I was watching I could help myself too think " what were they thinking". Its the last Raw before Royal Rumble and the last segment and they give us that. But overall it was pretty good Raw and left me very interested too watch this Sunday ppv...Oh by the way Daniel Bryant hair style was just hilarious.

Good Raw tonight, even with the lame Roulette gimmick.

I love how the Shield is being booked. They look strong, and I just hope WWE keeps it up with them. They have no reason to change them for a while. They beat down the 3 biggest faces in the company, but it was done so smartly where they were able to attack one at a time. Well done. I was afraid they'd get beaten down that 2nd time Cena got up, making them look weak. I hope they keep it up.

Call me crazy, but while I almost threw up looking at Tensai, I can see a definite comedic appeal to putting him and Brodus together. Tensai took it like a champ....I don't care who you are, that's embarrassing to have to do. I like him more now for it. I can see that tag team being pushed towards the titles sometime later in the year. I know almost everyone is going to hate this segment, hate Tensai, hate the face turn, and hate the pairing of the two, but I...I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I liked the segment.

I have to apologize....I was completely wrong about Del Rio's face turn when I commented about it when it was just a rumor. He's doing a great job, and Show is doing a great job as the heel.

Now for the real reason I wanted to comment on tonight's RAW.....I understand why Rock had to get the belt and I'm fine with it (and still am), but as soon as Rock came out, I noticed....he's so much better as the chaser for the belt, as the one who somehow got screwed. He looked lost trying to talk about the crowd, the belt, etc.....Punk completely owned him and he owned that time he was out there. I would've thought the verbal part of teh feud would be a lot closer, but Rock is so far under Punk's level on the mic...I guess everyone is, but I remember Rock being better than anyone else too. Here's to hoping they do the Triple Threat at WM with Rock-Punk-Cena, and I hope Punk comes out on top so he can have his true WM moment.

I found the Tensai segment funny (and wrestling101) i agree make them a tag team. but the rest of the undercard part of the show sucked the matches weren't that good and the other parts weren't funny.

But the main stories were great on this Raw. the Punk promos were very good probably some of his best heel promos so far. Rock said exactly what you expected Finally the peoples champ is back stuff which is fine for this week. I like serious Cena promos and this was one of them good stuff from him. And it looks like we might get a 6 man tag match at EC which is a good thing. the Vince Heyman segment was awesome Heyman was pure gold when pleading his case to Vince and then you throw Lesnar on top of that perfect segment. it makes me question if punk knew about Lesnar and knew about the Shield or Heyman was playing him. Only downside is it might confirm the HHH rematch.

But now on to the best part of the show. Which was Del Rio and the Big Show. Pure gold plain and simple. I don't usually let wrestling get on my emotions especially the fake stuff but boy do i want to see Big Show get his ass kicked now. Del Rio seems to already be over as a face and if that segment didn't get him more fans i don't know what will. That was the best heel work i have seen in quite some time without having to mock a heart attack. And before anyone comes in here with the duck tape crap he was wrapped up like 20 times no need to over think it.

Overall the show was solid for about 30 minutes the rest of the show sucked. fortunately for wwe the important 30 minutes was good.

Raw was bleh.

Big Show continues to prove why he is the most underrated heel there is. Tensai has to be being punished for something. My guess? Screwing up Ryback when he was attempting the Shellshock awhile back. Don't screw up a potential money maker and think Vince won't humiliate you.

Rock was Rock, but Punk was awesome. I guess that's being Punk. I love how they're handling The Shield. Cesaro is being booked great. They're being very careful with the future.

And of course, Team Hell No rules.

Raw was okay...

I like the viciousness and aggression showed by Randy Orton. A slow burn to the much talked about heel turn me thinks. The Tensai segment was good for what it was, and I liked the Ryback segment, they put him in a comedy segment but still allowed Ryback to be Ryback and didn't diminish his chatacter.
Jericho's promo was good but that's to be expected. Rock was Rock and Punk was Punk, however I do think that there's a Pipe Bomb with Dwayne's name on it coming soon. And Big Show showed how awesome he is as a heel.

Paul Heyman showed once again how masterful he his on the mic, and Vince needs to wise up and have him on the Creative team. Even if they don't let him book or write storylines, let him write promos maybe then they all wouldn't sound the same. Although I was expecting Lesnar to come back, it was still a surprise that he did. And it looks as if they're going to book Lesnar/Triple H 2, unless they're going to pull a swerve and bring Shane back. And a lot of the guys in the back (I'm looking at you Cena) should watch how Vince sold the F5. I don't think there's anyone better at selling, overall, than Vince.

A couple of gripes; when Rock speaks I can do without the fake laughs from the commentators, for me, it takes away from the promos because I find it so annoying. My second gripe is wasting time with a John Cena/Fred Flintstone take of the tape. By all means advertise that Cena has buried another much loved personality but leave the hokey stuff out of it.
