So we're to expect some kind of multi-man tag match involving the Shield at TLC it seems. Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns versus Orton and Team Hell No, with perhaps Brad Maddox and the Miz being added to make it four on four. Maybe even a tables elimination match. Maybe.

I wouldn't mind this, I think it'd be the best way of introducing the Shield's capabilities as in-ring performers all together, rather than just one by one. That way, their pack mentality is emphasised and their strength in numbers is maintained. In what's already turning out to be a pretty stacked card, a big tag match would be a decent way of getting four big names and these four rookies on to the event in what could be a very exciting match. I for one am looking forward to seeing how the Shield delivers wrestling actual matches rather than just run-ins.

Also, the U.S. title fatal four way, while a great match to have on TV, would be much better suited to being on a PPV card, so as Jack-Hammer says, it can go on for an extra 10 minutes and really get some mileage out of it. I've been really impressed by Antonio Cesaro recently. I thought losing Aksana would damage him in the long term, but his impressive and powerful moveset draws as much attention as any eye candy Diva would.

Meh, it wasnt offensive, so that puts it a cut above most weeks. Really, any show that gives Damien Sandow extended mic time is after my heart.

Mostly forgettable throughout, though I suppose they developed on the main storylines well enough, and gave us what was a pretty awesome final segment. I dont think we are far off from a 5 minute promo comprised entirely of the miz repeating the word "Really", though. Near future.

Decent enough show, as much as can be said for RAW-lite. 3MB got put over, and more mic time and a win for Damien Sandow were welcome respites from the usual. very good segment between R-Truth and Antonio Cesaro as well... Also your usual uninspiring tag matches with main eventers, Alberto Del Rio (fucking of course) tapping someone out (I considered suicide, pulled back at the last moment) and another stupid ass Sheamus - Big Show segment with them saying the same shit they have already said 18 times.

Shield promo was decent, but far, far too Joker-ish. Like, right fucking on.

JBL calling out Mathews and Cole on the utterly idiotic shit they say is pretty much my favorite thing in the WWE these days. "Josh Bryan DOES NOT train eight hours a day, he is a vegan, that is just ridiculous to say" hahaha. Yesssss.

The show remains something I wouldn't suggest anyone goes out of their way to see.

WWE Raw - December 10, 2012

Opening Segment - Pretty solid segment that started the show off overall. Ziggler continues to improve on the mic and he's drawing great heat from the crowd without the presence of Vickie Guerrero. Ziggler puts over his match with Cena while standing atop a ladder with his MITB briefcase hanging above. After a few minutes, Sheamus' music hits and he comes out for a bit. Sheamus was hit & miss for me as I'm not a huge fan of his jovial, fun loving Irish lug babyface character. I like Sheamus, but I think he could be far better as a more serious babyface and he's far better as a heel. Big Show interrupted next and did a nice job in his role. He put down both Sheamus & Ziggler before Sheamus did his usual schtick. Sheamus acknowledged the no contact contract they had to sign on SmackDown! this past Friday but said he could have contact with someone else before pushing the ladder over, causing Ziggler to straddle the top rope. You had to know it was going to happen the second Sheamus' music hit. Nothing spectacular here, just solid work from Show & Ziggler. Sheamus was ok and you also got a feeling this would set up a match for Ziggler & Sheamus later. Thumbs Up

Vince & Vickie - Basically a repeat of Vince's interaction with Vickie in which he sort of coaches her into making matches. In this one, he winds up making a match between AJ Lee and Vickie, which the crowd popped big for. Nothing good or bad happened here, just a brief interview segment on the stage to set up something for later. NA

1. R-Truth vs. Wade Barrett - This was disappointing. The match lasted barely 2 minutes with Truth scoring a clean win over Barrett via a modified victory roll. Kofi did a nice job on commentary and his comment about Cesaro's man purse made me chuckle a little. I do like that WWE has made Truth & Cesaro an actual feud. It's not a great one, but at least it's something that WWE has put some effort into rather than something that just feels tacked onto the ppv. I don't really have much of a problem with Truth winning the match, my problem is that it took 2 minutes to do it. Barrett is someone that we've seen in 15-25 minute wars against Sheamus & Randy Orton over the past couple of months, yet we're supposed to buy into Truth beating him in 2 minutes? Piss poor booking. NA

2. The Usos vs. Team Rhodes Scholars vs. The Prime Time Players vs. Primo & Epico - This was a four-way elimination tag match with the winning team going onto TLC to face Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara in a Tables Match to determine the #1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship. I'm a little mixed on this match. There was some good action in the first few minutes between E&P and the Usos, but E&P have been so devalued in their ridiculous program with Khali & Hornswoggle that it made me feel as if they shouldn't have been in this match. They're eliminated about the 4 minute mark before they go to commercial. When they come back from commercial, it's revealed that the PTPs have been eliminated by the Usos, so it felt like something of waste of even putting them in the match. The Usos and TRS put on a pretty decent match, however, so that's a plus. Another plus is that it's nice to see the Usos being used well. They're a team with a ton of potential and I'm hoping that this match is a step forward in them being a force within the tag team scene. The end comes when one of them goes for the Superfly Splash on Rhodes, but Rhodes got his knees up at the last instant. He then delivers Cross Rhodes for the clean win at the 11 minute mark. Team Rhodes Scholars go onto TLC. **1/4

3. Eve vs. Alicia Fox - I dunno what happened here as my satellite lost the signal for a little bit. I doubt I missed much. NA

CM Punk & Paul Heyman - Pretty solid promo segment from Punk & Heyman. It wasn't as passionate as some of their more recent stuff, but it was still solid work. I like that Punk addressed the issue of his injury, though I thought WWE should've been talking more about it up to this point than they had. Punk put himself and his run over, including listing some of the people he's beaten since becoming champ. He put down Ryback as someone not smart enough to want him healthy, thus costing him his title shot at TLC. I also liked that they seem to have begun the hype for his match with The Rock at the Royal Rumble. All in all, just a solid & brief segment that did it's job and didn't drag. Thumbs Up

4. Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler - Strong showing from both wrestlers here. It wasn't the best match I've seen out of them, but it was still a strong match just the same. Ziggler seemed more focused & aggressive here than usual, not nearly as much "showing off" and gave Sheamus a competitive match. The biggest spot of the match came with Sheamus going for the Battering Ram off the top but Ziggler hops the turnbuckles and pulls him off the top for a Facebuster for a great near fall. Sheamus makes a comeback a bit later and hits the Irish Curse for another good fall. Sheamus sets up for the Brogue Kick but Ziggler dodges and takes a powder outside. Sheamus follows him out but gets slammed in the gut with a steel chair. The ref calls for the bell as they make their way back into the ring, after which Ziggler gives Sheamus a hard shot across the back with the chair. He winds up to give Sheamus another shot but Sheamus is able to Brogue Kick the chair out of Ziggler's hands, prompting Ziggler to hit the road. I like that they protected Ziggler and Sheamus here, I don't know why they haven't protected him like that against Cena. A strong, physical 16 minute match. ***

The Shield Promo Replay - This past Friday on SD!, they showed a brief video promo made by The Shield and they simply showed it here on Raw. It was brief and well done with Ambrose & Rollins being the clear standouts in terms of speaking for the group. Reigns comes off more as someone that's the mostly silent bruiser of the group, which works fine. Ambrose shines here and I'm guessing he's probably the overall leader of the group, if there is a leader. Thumbs Up

5. Zack Ryder vs. Alberto Del Rio - I actually groaned when I heard Ryder's music hit. We've seen Del Rio destroy in in so many 2 minute squash matches in the past that it's ridiculous. However, I was pleasantly surprised that we actually got a pretty decent match that was fairly competitive. Ryder got in a lot of offense on Del Rio and, all in all, looked better than he has in quite a long time. Ryder took a lot of Del Rio's key offense and kept coming back. I thought for a while that Ryder might come up with an upset win, the announcers mentioned it a bit, but I'd forgotten that Del Rio faces Ryback this Wednesday on Main Event. When Cole mentioned that, I immediately knew that Ryder wasn't going to win. Del Rio gets the win via the Cross Arm Breaker at the 7 minute mark. It was a filler match but it was pretty decent filler. I'll take it over 2 minute squash matches any day. **

6. AJ Lee vs. Vickie Guerrero - There wasn't really much to say about this match all in all. The overall segment featured some nice storytelling though, believe it or not. Once Vickie & AJ are both in the ring, Vickie calls out to Lawler & Cole that they need a referee. After a few minutes, Brad Maddox walks out onto the stage with a smarmy look on his face dressed as a ref. He gets pretty decent heat as he slowly makes his way to the ring. He calls for the bell and the gals fight for a bit, Vickie gets the upper hand as she jumps AJ from behind. AJ mounts a comeback and slaps Vickie hard before going for the pin. Maddox stands over in the corner, still looking cocky and doesn't make the count. AJ confronts him and Vickie rolls her up. Maddox makes the count and Vickie scores the win. I was surprised that Vince didn't walk out and restart the match but, frankly, I kinda like that he didn't. I think WWE tries to put on too many "feel good moments" for the fans sometimes and AJ losing keeps the angle going. It also makes you wonder if Maddox was "hired" by Vickie before the match or if he's hoping to earn his way into her good graces. The match wasn't anything to speak of, as I said, but some decent storytelling took place. NA

7. Kofi Kingston vs. Antonio Cesaro - This was a damn good effort from both men. Kofi & Cesaro have great chemistry against each other and Cesaro's more ground & pound, brawl/power based stuff is fun to see against Kofi's high flying quickness. The match started off a little slow but it picked up very nicely into an eventual back & forth thing. Cesaro looked strong tossing Kofi around here and there while Kofi looked resilient bouncing back from it. Kofi hit a great near fall after rolling Cesaro up in the SOS. Cesaro has great timing in these near falls he gets as he manages to always kick out right at the last possible instant. In this case, he reaches out to grab the bottom rope. Late in the match, Kofi climbs up to the top to go for the high cross body and jumps. Cesaro catches him in mid air across his right shoulder and spins him over into a backbreaker. A killer looking spot that made Cesaro look like a beast. Cesaro than puts Kofi in the Neutralizer and gets the clean win a little past the 14 minute mark. ***1/2

Miz TV - There was a Miz TV segment that was set up on the stage with Miz interviewing Team Rhodes Scholars. I'm mixed on this segment. I thought Rhodes & Sandow did well overall, Cody is already drawing some good heat for the mustache he's grown. I'm a little confused on what WWE is trying to do with The Miz. He's still the same smarmy, annoying bastard now that he was when he was heel. I kept hoping that Team Rhodes Scholars would jump him throughout the segment. His insults to Cody & his mustache, and the little tongue in cheek gay joke, was pretty funny. It initially looked like Miz was trying to cause some trouble between the two but it went from "Sandow" saying stuff about Cody to it being clear that Miz is just being an ass. Cody responds to Sandow not to worry as he's not buying anything that someone dressed like "Colonel damn Sanders" is saying. They leave with Miz calling them "the pink and the stink". It was an ok segment, but Miz was more annoying than entertaining. Thumbs In The Middle

8. The Big Show vs. John Cena - A surprisingly good 15 minute match between the two of them. The match did drag a little bit at times, which is something that almost always happens in Big Show matches, but they put on a good main event for the show. Show looked impressive by consistently overpowering Cena and, usually, just brushing aside his offense, with Cena looking...well like Cena after bouncing back each time from Show's offense. Cena eventually launches into the Five Moves of Doom, though it's only four this time as he only lands one shoulder block on Show. As Show recovers from the Five Knuckle Shuffle, Cena manages to hoist on on his shoulders to deliver the AA. Show rolls over towards the ropes as Cena collapses from exhaustion. Before any one of them can follow up, The Shield comes through the crowd and begin to attack Cena. The ref calls for the bell, so I'm assuming Cena gets the win via DQ. **3/4

Brawl - The final minutes of the show were devoted to a final sales pitch for TLC by having all of the wrestlers in a top match get together in the ring for a big brawl. As The Shield is taking out Cena, Team Hell No comes running down and things start to get even, as Cena soon recovers and joins in. Dolph Ziggler hits the ring and attacks Cena. Ryback's music hits and he gets involved. Big Show is back in things and helps Ziggler with Cena. Sheamus' music hits and he runs out and begins fighting with Ziggler & The Shield. Sheamus & Show didn't touch each other, so it's good to see that WWE didn't decide to just forget about the no contact clause stuff. The show goes off the air with the brawl going on. It was an effective, chaotic brawl. It's something that WWE doesn't do too often, so they can't be accused of beating a dead horse. Thumbs Up

Final Thoughts - Last night's Raw was pretty solid overall, though it wasn't the hottest go home show I've seen. The promo segments were generally pretty solid, though nothing really stood out. Probably the best overall promo segment was the replay of The Shield video that they originally showed on SD! this past Friday. Wrestling action was solid overall, though some matches didn't really work. Truth vs. Barrett didn't click because I don't buy into Barrett losing in 2 minutes to someone like Truth when he's taken Sheamus & Orton to the limit in the past few months, including scoring some wins here and there over them. I didn't see the Divas match but I'm doubting I missed anything. The tag team elimination match was pretty decent almost entirely due to The Usos & Team Rhodes Scholars. Team Rhodes Scholars going onto face Mysterio & Sin Cara at TLC makes sense and I'm hoping this means a brighter future for the Usos as they had a good night and showing for themselves. Sheamus vs. Ziggler was a strong tv match and I like that they protected Ziggler here. Both have huge matches so neither needed to really lose. Kofi vs. Cesaro was match of the night and was a great effort that gave Cesaro a strong win. Del Rio vs. Ryder was filler, but at least we got what was an ok match rather than a 2 minute squash. AJ vs. Vickie was good for what it was as it stirs some questions as to Brad Maddox. It honestly wasn't the train wreck that I figured it'd be. They didn't try to have an actual match and that's a good thing, because they've gone that route a few times with Vickie in the past and it was awful. AJ seems to be heading back towards the emotionally unstable "crazy chick" that's helped make her a star in 2012. Cena vs. Big Show was a good, solid main event that was better than I expected. The big brawl at the end was entertaining. It was strange that Ryback & Team Hell No hadn't made an appearance on the show before then. At the same time though, it wouldn't be long before people were complaining that they were on the show too much.

You are far kinder than I, good sir.

What a fucking waste of life this show was. The Cesaro - Kofi match was absolutely pathetic, borderline embarassing. "How the fuck can a match putting a guy who loses so much that no one takes him seriously against a guy who we had cut one-word promos for his first six months in the company garner zero reaction??? HOW??" Gee, I don't know either WWE.

Oh, Alberto Del Rio against some mid card face (who also never wins).....Allow me to change the channel, no need to sit and wait for the end here. This link is literally what I watched instead, during the match....Tell me it was the wrong decision. I fucking dare you...

http://animal.discovery.com/tv-shows/too-cute/videos/puppy-pug-play-time.htm

The ending segment was stupid. Cole is reaching nearly Joey Styles level of single-handedly making segments utterly unwatchable. "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYY" every single FUCKING TIME Ryback comes out. Hey, if you want his reaction to seem like sudden excitement and intimidation, HOW ABOUT DON'T SAY THE EXACT SAME FUCKING THING THE EXACT SAME FUCKING WAY EVERY SINGLE TIME. That, is the OPPOSITE of "surprised, excited, intimidated" and falls directly into "canned, fucking stupid". Him yelping "watch oouuutt" was utterly moronic as well. Everyone was in the fucking ring, you twat, standing and punching. Watch out for what, exactly? The fucking RAW logo at the bottom of the screen?

Sandow and Rhodes are magnificent. Its been so long since they have seen fit to use him for, well, ANYTHING, I almost forgot he had the ability to cut such awesome promos. great job. Ziggler did well at the start of the show, which will make it furthermore frustrating when we get to TLC and hear "BAH GAWD TEH STRENGTH OF CZENA" as Cena utterly crushes him to no one's benefit whatsoever.

Nearly unbearable at this point. The small morsels of CM Punk's brilliance, and the potential of guys like Sandow and Rhodes make the CHORE of the rest of the show somewhat worth it.

It's called building new stars. Maybe you haven't noticed, but the WWE's actually been trying to put the IC and US titles back in the limelight again. Something that needs to happen. Also, with Kofi being a former tag partner of R-Truth, why wouldn't WWE put him against Cesaro as a build up match and vice versa for Truth and Wade Barrett?

And put him against who? Del Rio's gotta build some more steam after being fed to every single face since his debut in WWE. He needs something to get fans to remember that he's a top heel in WWE.

Once more it's called building up characters and feuds. Fucking JR back in the Attitude era ALWAYS ended every single Raw by uttering the lines "LOOK AT THE CARNAGE!" or even yelling "STONE COLD! STONE COLD! STONE COLD!" to a point where it got annoying too. Yet people continuously shout out the Attitude Era like it was the greatest thing to come out of the skies. And what's so bad about what Micheal Cole does? It's just a way for them to sell Ryback being a dominant force. And it's a way that obviously works considering not only did the crowd explode on Raw, but they were chanting "Feed me more" the entire time the Shield was out there. Or maybe you missed that part because you were looking for any minimal excuse to bash the show.

Sandow is a joke, nothing more. Anyone who actually likes him is completely stupid. It's nothing but a Blue Chipper wannabe, which we all know how well that turned out for HHH don't we? And what would be so bad about Cena getting the World title briefcase or even the world title? It would help WWE regain legitimacy for that title by putting it on a marquee name like Cena while also allowing CM Punk to go to war with the likes of The Rock. Cena and Ziggler feuding over the world title with Big Show and Sheamus being thrown in the mix helps EVERYBODY.

Nearly unbearable at this point. The small morsels of CM Punk's brilliance, and the potential of guys like Sandow and Rhodes make the CHORE of the rest of the show somewhat worth it.

CM Punk being gone wasn't really much of a miss, and nothing seemed to go wrong with him gone. And Rhodes and Sandow are both hopeless. Rhodes because he'll never get the right chance to shine since they like sticking him with dumb fucks like Sandow.

It's called building new stars.

Made the match and the utter silence of the crowd no less pathetic though, did it?

By having one heatless wonder wrestle another? Also, who is new in that match besides Cesaro? Kingston? The guy who has been around since Wrestlemania 24?

You build new stars by giving them feuds and angles with guys who can actually get heat. Neither of these two do or can. One because the WWE saw fit to book his character into absolute oblivion before the bright idea of maybe, perhaps, having your foreign heel US champion cut anti-american promos. Stroke of fucking genius. Only took 3 months to figure that one out.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but the WWE's actually been trying to put the IC and US titles back in the limelight again.

By booking Cesaro into feuds with Santino, Gabriel, and R-Truth, respectively, and by hot-potatoing the IC title giving Kofi YET ANOTHER utterly meaningless title reign.

Why not book the tag match of Barrett (Hey!! Someone who is over!) and Cesaro against Kofi and Truth, which devolves into a brawl outside, double DQ? Drums up the intensity going in, and no one loses credibility going into the PPV.

Del Rio's gotta build some more steam after being fed to every single face since his debut in WWE.

:headscratch:

I must have missed when my username got changed to "people". He would yell it when there was carnage, or when Stone Cold WAS doing some crazy shit. Not yell out "look out" when no one was remotely close to him and Jerry.

it's a way that obviously works considering not only did the crowd explode on Raw, but they were chanting "Feed me more" the entire time the Shield was out there.

What does Micheal Cole saying idiotic shit have to do with the crowd going apeshit when Ryback came out to kick ass ?

Or maybe you missed that part because you were looking for any minimal excuse to bash the show.

You aren't very familure with me are you?

Sandow is a joke, nothing more. Anyone who actually likes him is completely stupid.

I can see were the subtelty of the character escapes you

It's nothing but a Blue Chipper wannabe, which we all know how well that turned out for HHH don't we?

Uh....He is The Genius. Like, they literally called up the Genius, and requested permission to use the character.

And what would be so bad about Cena getting the World title briefcase or even the world title?

Nothing, Cena is phenominal. Also irrelevant to the point. The point being, they have a chronic issue of not being able to "pull the trigger" with guys like Ziggler. HOW MANY pushes is this now? three? four? They can never go the whole way. not ONLY will they have wasted our time ONCE AGAIN with Ziggler, but this time, it was with a laborious storyline attached to it as well.

And Rhodes and Sandow are both hopeless. Rhodes because he'll never get the right chance to shine.

We certainley agree on this portion.

First and foremost I agree with NorCal, JBL is the best thing on SmackDown, the guy is just fantastic at commentary, man that's the best addition WWE has so fair in 2012.

Now onto last Friday's show, I have to say that I enjoyed most of it. However, the Divas match was awful and I have to repeat it AWFUL, in fact let me steal Jerry Lawler's almost catchphrase: "I've never seen something like that." because Aksana actually had a two minute match with ONLY a headlock, that was the only move she made, an headlock!

But taking that away, let me say what I enjoyed as well:

The Big Show
I think that the current world heavyweight champion was great last night, I loved his face when Sheamus bumped him, it was hilarious. After that, he had a in-ring segment with David Otunga claiming that the no-contact clause was violated, and he was just repeating what Otunga was saying and cheering for happiness which I also found great! It's easily the star of the night, and the way he closed the show was great, he showed a mean streak when he just hit the chair on Regal's back in front of Sheamus, great way to end it indeed!

Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio
They do fight on Friday nights, and that match was great, however I feel that they can offer a lot more if by some reason they start to feud over the Intercontinental Championship. I think that Alberto is really lost, in a way that even JBL pointed out that Del Rio has already fought John Cena, Randy Orton and Sheamus, so in the main event picture he has nowhere to go, so why not make him feud with Kingston after TLC? In fact, make him attack Kingston in the pay-per-view after his match with Wade Barrett, it would be a great way to start of a rivalry. In another note, I've been loving Kingston's recent run and he doesn't feel like a transitional champion, he feels rejuvenated.

Team Hell NO! on MizTV and Shield's promo:
How can you not love the new group of renegades? The segment was near to perfect in my mind, a great way to build up the match at Sunday's PPV in the last show. Everyone looks like future stars, and with that they make Kane and Daniel Bryan a great babyface team. Daniel Bryan was also great in his promo, but I don't like that new attitude of Hell NO! I liked them better when they were trying to rip their heads of.

Overall I think it was a good show, not sure if everything is worth watching, but at least what I said was good. The main event match was also very good, but Cesaro vs. Sheamus was better on Raw two weeks ago. Now, a question I would like to pose, it's why on earth is Booker T a corny face? He would be so much better if he was an heel, that agreed with Big Show and cancelled the match, only to have Sheamus force him to put the match on again, or he would get his "arse kicked", in fact really kick his ass into a point that the match had to be on again, in summary, I miss heel GM's that can actually get hit.

My god, man. The new tagline for SD should be "redifining the term as bad as it gets, on a weekly basis"

Pointless matchs, and fuck, half the back end of the show was fucking raw!! It was shit when it was on raw, its ESPECIALLY SHIT WHEN ITS A REPLAY ON SMACKDOWN.....Im not just talking recaps here, like, full fucking segments and matches. I hate it enough the first time I watch it, on its own show. FUUUCCKKK my life.

Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow were awesome again, as was the Sheild showdown with Ryback and Hell No. They did a great job of building that up to be a war this weekend.

For the love of God and all that is good, bring back a well defined brand split. While your at it, have the sheild jump Booker T, and insert Paul Heyman as the GM. That would be a fun, fun show on a weekly basis.

Also, JBL rocks. Keep it up.

Laughabley bad, this show. There is a reason the Arena was only half-full, vince.

What'w with the change in commercial breaks? Do they have a new producer? I hope this was a one time thing and not part of a new change in how they break up their segments.....I'd rather have Santino and Tensai in for one segment instead of taking up each side of the break. Same for how they brought out the wrestlers, and most of the awards. They didn't even introduce a few of the matches or the participants in them....I hope this isn't part of the change they're talking about.

Also....did they make 2 huge mistakes? Tensai's music hit while Booker T was reading off the nominees or something, and then his match didn't even start until like 5 minutes later. Then Flair's voice came over to do the intro to the video package before he was introduced, which killed the WOW factor. Seemed like a mistake to me, but maybe it wasn't.

Khali vs Otunga....Really? Booking 101.....don't put 2 wrestlers no one cares about in the ring at the same time. Break them up and put them against 'over' guys and you limit the damage. I would've boo-ed the hell out of that match if I was there.

Even in the kayfabe world, how the hell can they give Cena the Superstar if the year award? I guess it would fit in with Punk's diatribe every week, but still.....Cena needs to turn heel sometime in the next year. If WWE is serious about making it a bit more edgier, Cena's turn will be a success.

I'm convinced Tensai will be future endevoured soon. WWE has a knack for embarrassing someone as they're getting ready to leave/be released. Having him fall when he got on the stage and come out with that huge ice pack is embarrassing. I think he's done.

I'm not liking Big E's look....hopefully that changes, but I don't think he's a long term player in WWE.

I'm not going to go in alot about this Raw. I honestly felt it was horrible and one of the most boring Raws I have ever seen.

After coming off such a great PPV, for them to put this type of product out there is disgraceful.

The commercials were overkill. The award winners were horrible. The matches were not good. Telling us to download an app 10000 times tonight was the worst part to me

The show got off to a fun start IMO but after the first 30 minutes it just fell apart for me. The entire show from top to bottom was unorganized, in shambles, and provided for many awkward moments. For one, I got extremely annoyed when they felt the need to tell us how to download the WWE app. Secondly, why didn't they have people vote online before tonight? That would have been so much better. thirdly, it seems everyone was off tonight. The 3mb match went on way too long, the promos (besides Punk's) were subpar, everything was boring, and IDK if they meant to do it but they ruined the surprise of Flair returning. i've seen some of big e langston's stuff in NXT and i wasnt impressed, nor was i impressed about his debut. this show just dragged on and on for me and it was godawful. The crowd tried their best but you could tell they were really not into the show at all.

One more thing.....does Cody's mustache piss anyone else off as much as it does me? It looks awful. It doesn't belong. I think the 'stache took Cody as a hostage. It looks like he's got chocolate milk on his lip.....Cody, if you can read this, please get a rag and wipe that crap off.

In my view, last night's Raw was, overall, quite possibly the worst of the year. Several aspects of the show truly do make me think that Vince is someone that's lost touch with the audience.

Wrestling action on the show was the weakest I've seen on Raw all year. The matches were all throwaway crap that meant absolutely nothing. Most were lucky if they went 3 minutes.

The first hour of the show, almost all of it, was a complete throwaway. It felt like some of the three hour Raw specials in which the first hour was filled with crap.

Throughout the night, all the attention was put on the Slammy Awards and I can't for the life of me figure out why. All the commercial breaks and all the voting, some of which seemed no doubt to be rigged, just made for some extremely boring television. I hate the Slammy Awards because last night's show is an example of the crap that we get. The awards don't mean anything. The fans know that and Vince knows the the fans know it, so why waste time by trying to put up an illusion otherwise?

That's not to say that there weren't some fun happenings on last night's show. It was great to see Ric Flair make a surprise return. His interaction with CM Punk & Paul Heyman was fun and big brawl with Team Hell No, Ryback & The Shield was great. Ryback & Team Hell No coming to Flair's aid after he'd been beaten down by The Shield was a great way to garner favor for the faces and heat for the Shield. It was fun seeing Mean Gene Okerlund, Ricky Steamboat & Jim Ross present for Match of the Year and it was fun seeing Triple H accept. Trips was over big time and the fans would've come unglued if Taker had come out. The stuff with AJ, Cena & Ziggler was interesting and I'm glad to see AJ is back in the character that ultimately brought her to the dance. The debut of Big E. Langston was pretty good but how many times have we seen someone debut and leave Cena laying? It's kind of gotten old. Still, I thought the guy looked impressive.

But yeah, last night's show was about 95% dud. It's a shame because they'd just had an extremely hot ppv and put out the worst Raw of 2012. As I alluded to earlier, last night's weird episode of Raw seemed to have Vince's fingerprints all over it. It won't surprise me if the ratings for last night's show bombs with people just tuning out in droves.

For me, last night's show was a big D-.

I'm hoping we don't get a bunch of crap on the commercial free SD! tonight, especially some lame backstage Christmas party segments.

The whole point of the 'tache is to draw heat, he's not done it as a fashion statement.

I was disappointed with the show, the Slammy's got in the way of what should have been a great follow up to the best PPV I've seen in years. It was great to see Flair return and I enjoyed his altercation with Heyman and Punk plus it gave an excuse to get the Shield to come out which was good.

Big E making his full roster debut was a strange but welcome surprise. Hasn't he just won the NXT title as a face, like Rollins did? At least the WWE are looking to the future with Ryback, Bryan, Ziggler, Shield and now Big E.

One of the best moments for me was Triple H saying we haven't seen the last of The Undertaker, basically confirming he'll be a part of Wrestlemania or maybe even come back sooner.

Khali v Otunga was terrible, as was Brodus against JTG. It was a show for the jobbers. I didn't mind the six man tag, was one of the better matches. Tensai needs a change of gimmick and fast. He should return to being Albert, at least the fans might give a shit then.

It makes me so mad that John Cena was given the superstar of the year Slammy over CM Punk. I understand that the slammys really don't mean anything, but it's insulting to the fans to give it to a guy who hasn't been the WWE Champion since October of last year over the guy who is the longest reigning modern day WWE Champion of all time. Punk has been pretty much the only part of Raw worth watching this last year and to give the slammy to Super Cena just because he is the poster boy makes me sick.

The point is that WWE set things up so that Punk could come on stage to protest the very thing you're talking about. They figured it would make a better segment than simply giving the award to Punk and having him come out to make the usual insulting remarks to the WWE Universe. I much preferred him appearing doing a "piss and moan" rant than ungraciously accepting an award.

With that scenario in place, it was good writing that Cena was able to turn it into a tribute to the returning Ric Flair. Obviously, Punk wasn't going to hand Flair the Slammy if he won it, right? Having Cena do it accomplished two things: First, it showed the ultimate sportsmanship his character has been designed to show, and it softens the blow to Cena-haters who didn't want to see him win it, in any case.

I suppose it adds a third thing, too: it demonstrates how far Cena is above everyone on the roster. I get a kick out of people arguing whether Punk (or anyone else) is more popular than John Cena. It's ridiculous to speculate, don't you know that? Cena is in another dimension as far as impact on the company. His actions last night proved that once again.

The crowd seemed about 70% anti Cena by the 3rd segment he was in.For several years now as the WWE's main face he's received more boos than cheers on most live Raws/Pay Per Views.I don't think its an ant-face sentiment.Orton,Mysterio,Kingston, etc don't get the same treatment...How many times have Steph,Vince, the rest of creative asked the ? Flair did.= "I don't know why you guys don't like him more ?" ...they just don't,so the real question should be why is Cana still the top face.Fans of all ages have cheered the faces at more than a 30% ratio the last 40 years in WWWF,WWF,WWE.

What a fucking wonderful show, from open to close. It was very hackneyed and awkward being there live, but even that could not put a damper on how brilliant it was.

Tons of great surprises, and Flair-Punk-Shield is one of the segments of the year. Cant say there was much in the way of great matches(well besides the Main Event match they taped prior to the show) but segment, development, and overall entertainment wise, could not have been much better. A bit concerning with what exactly they are trying to do with vickie's character, but all in all, great show.

Slightly more effective television this week. A very good MizTv segment to start off, and develop the group of Aj-Ziggler and langston. Everyone plays their roles terrifically.

Unfortunately, there just isnt a whole lot more to say about this show. More blah, fast food wrestling. Not terribly offensive, but also not bad. As much as its still enjoyable, you have to wonder how many weeks in a row CM Punk can come out and cut the same promo, sometimes multiple times in a week.

The most staggering thing this week? A divas match that not only got time, but was decent in quality. Decent relatively, but decent. I remarked to D-Man during monday night raw, I feel like both Kaitlyn and Eve could be the next all time great generation if they are given the time and have the dedication to learning to be a good wrestler.

Decent show. Still not something you should consistently go out of your way to see.

Last night's Raw was mostly a throwaway show. However, I thought much of the show was pretty entertaining. There was some comedy stuff going on but not nearly as much nor nearly as corny as I figured it'd be.

The opening segment was strange but fun in my eyes. Del Rio hitting "Santa" with his car was much better, in my opinion, than what I figured they'd do. Cena's reaction afterward was pretty damn stupid though. Just too cartoonish for my taste.

Kane vs. Cody Rhodes was a pretty decent 2.25 star match. They worked well together and put on a good 6 minute match, though I wish it'd been longer.

The eight Diva tag match was surprisingly good. While only 6 minutes, it was FAR better than similar Diva matches on similar shows. In the past, they'd have had about 30 seconds of action before everything broke down and one of the Divas would've scored a win about 15 or 20 seconds later. Honestly, the way the women were wrestling last night and the frequent tags, I'd have liked to have seen this match get about 10 more minutes. I thought, in all seriousness, this was a pretty good 2.25 star match. Most of the Divas looked hot and, again, there wasn't very much holiday comedy to be seen.

The ongoing update & coverage of Santa was too much. They made such a big issue of this last night that it made me thinking that WWE should devote this much focus & attention to some of their main storylines & angles.

The "Lumberjack Frost" match between Sheamus & Big Show was much better than I expected, a strong 3.25 star match in my eyes. Sheamus & Show continue to surprise people in their current feud with another strong match in their feud. The lumberjacks played their parts well and they were used in a way that didn't come anywhere close to overshadowing the match. There were a couple of brief brawls that broke out between them but nothing distracting. The end comes at the 16 minute mark with Sheamus hitting the Brogue Kick to get the clean win. A loss for Show won't hurt him here as he's scored two very strong, clean ppv title match wins over Sheamus.

Zack Ryder vs. David Otunga was good for what it was, which was to give the crowd more of a feel good moment. Their match was surprisingly decent. Otunga was much smoother in there than he usually is. I'd give it about 2 stars. You knew what the outcome was going to be, but the match was decent.

Kingston & Miz vs. Barrett & Cesaro was, again, a solid match. I'd give this one about 2.5 stars. The match had a lot of positive energy and worked at a good, smooth pace. This match looks like it MIGHT signal the start of a feud between Miz & Cesaro. Again, the faces picked up the win after Kofi delivered a modified TIP to Barrett, allowing Miz to hit the SCF at the 7.5 minute mark.

The AJ Lee & Dolph Ziggler segments were well done. There were 3 of them and they were brief. They did their job of keeping Ziggler's feud with Cena & AJ's betrayal of him fresh in everyone's mind. Also, seeing the two of them being all lovey dovey did it's job in putting more heat on the happy couple.

Khali vs. Brad Maddox was what you'd expect: not worth seeing.

Punk & Heyman's promo was more solid stuff from them. Punk cut a classic heel promo while putting himself & his title run over while talking trash about the live audience and the fans at home. He also put down Ryback for a bit before Ryback's music hits. He comes out to a big pop and climbs into the ring. He threatens Punk by informing him that in 2 weeks, if he's healthy, he has Punk in a match on the first Raw of 2013 in a TLC match. I'm excited for this as it should be a really fun match. I was hoping they'd give their match a stipulation and it'll be a nice treat to see a TLC match on free tv.

Daniel Bryan vs. Damien Sandow was, like most of the other matches, just a solid overall outing. Bryan is hugely over. The crowd just goes nuts for just about everything he did. The match only went about 6 minutes and, for a Bryan match, it was below average. Still, an enjoyable 2.25 star bout with Bryan picking up the win to keep the babyface streak going.

The 12 man tag match exceeded my expectations. There was no comedy involved and most of the wrestlers looked good. Gabirel & Kidd both were very crisp and it's nice to see The Usos continue to gain ground. The match only went to the 7 minute mark but it was fun while it lasted. This is another match I'd have liked to have seen go another 10 or 15 minutes. I'd give it about 2.25 stars.

Kane & Bryan had a funny backstage segment where they exchanged Christmas gifts. Kane gave Bryan a Slammy award while Bryan gave Kane a puppy. The crowd popped for both gifts, especially when Kane said he was starving. Bryan reacted as people expected and said "animals are friends, not food".

The Miracle on 34th Street Fight was by far the most cartoonish aspect of Raw. Much of the match just wasn't my thing. Too many gags going on. Cena rolling a bowling ball between Del Rio's legs was pretty fun though. Cena wins the match at the 15 minute mark when "Santa" comes out and puts the mandible claw on Del Rio, allowing Cena to then hit AA for the win. Looking at Santa closely, it looks like it was Mick Foley with his beard died a snowy white.

Overall, I honestly enjoyed last night's show. There was some honestly good wrestling on the show, much much more & better than I was expecting. There weren't any cheesy backstage comedy skits either. There was even some slight progression of some storylines like Punk vs. Ryback & Ziggler vs. Cena. The downside was though that last night's show was a throwaway overall. If you missed last night's show, then there's no real consequence to doing so. The frequent focus on Santa was too much, Khali & Hornswoggle sucked as usual, and Cena's cartoonish reactions were a turn off. The good was surprisingly good and the bad was far less bad than I thought it'd be.

If you just kicked back and allowed yourself to enjoy the show while accepting it was a throwaway, then it was a good show. Otherwise, you probably hated much of it. I thought the show was a C+ to MAYBE a B-.

This show really needs an overhaul. I wish they would drop Sheamus/Big Show out of the main event picture because there's nothing appealing about them. They suck at promos and can barely put on a decent wrestling match. Not to mention the lack of mid-card talent. It's almost the same people we see every week on Raw. This is why I'm hoping Christian, Morrison and Benjamin will arrive really soon.

WWE Raw - December 31, 2012

Miz TV - Pretty decent segment all in all. Miz comes out on stage and does his thing for a bit before introducing John Cena as his guest. Cena comes out, wishes everyone a Happy New Year and all before Team Rhodes Scholars interrupts. Sandow is fun to listen to on the mic and Cody continues to draw great heat over his mustache. Cena's joke on Cody's mustache is pretty funny as is when he called Sandow & Cody Gandalf and Magnum PI before challenging them to a fight with Miz as his partner. Nothing special here, just a decent little segment to set up the opening match. Thumbs Up

1. John Cena & The Miz vs. Team Rhodes Scholars - Pretty fun tag team match that had a good pace and a nice flow to it. Cena's involvement naturally delivered a lot of fan interaction & interest in the match. No real surprises here, just solid tag team wrestling on the part of Team Rhodes Scholars. The end comes with Miz making the hot tag to Cena with Cena then going for the "Five Moves of Doom" on Sandow. Rhodes interrupts with the Beautiful Disaster Kick only for Miz to come up behind him and deliver the SCF. Sandow tries to deliver a clothesline to Cody but misses and is hoisted up by Cena for the AA. Cena & Miz get the win a little past the 12 minute mark. **1/4

New Year's Eve Party - Backstage, there was a party set up with a lot of wrestlers backstage "celebrating" the upcoming new year. I got that queasy feeling in my stomach because these party things ALWAYS wind up with some sort of awful comedy schtick. That didn't happen here, but would come later on. The first time around, it was Punk & Heyman talking to Vickie Guerrero. They used their brief interaction to further hype Raw next week and Punk's upcoming match with Ryback. It was mentioned earlier that the show had a "Champion's Choice" theme in which the champ could pick his opponent. Vickie asked who Punk would've defended his title against and he says that it'd been Ryback. Punk whispers in Vickie's ear that Ryback should face The Shield. Vickie says it isn't fair before Punk reminds her of all the disrespect that she & himself have endured and Vickie makes a handicap match between Ryback & The Shield. Nothing good or bad here, just something to set up an interesting situation for later on. NA

2. Antonio Cesaro vs. Sgt. Slaughter for the WWE United States Championship - Prior to the match, Cesaro cut a decent promo that drew some good heat from the DC crowd. He announced that he ran into someone in DC earlier in the day while he was seeing some of the monuments & memorials in the city. Given that they're in DC and that Slaughter's character is a patriotic military hero, it makes sense. The match itself was nothing to talk about. It lasted about 2 minutes with Cesaro obliterating Slaughter with the Neutralizer for the win. He hits the move a 2nd time after the bell for emphasis. NA

3. Team Hell No vs. 3MB for the WWE Tag Team Championship - Prior to this match, Kane & Daniel Bryan are pacing backstage upset as they'd planned to challenge The Shield but those plans are gone as Ryback has them in a handicap match. They hear some screeching behind a curtain and see that it's 3MB "practicing". Bryan starts his "Yes" chant and Kane agrees that they'll be their opponents for the night. The match was decent, though the crowd simply isn't into 3MB all that much. They popped big for the faces, Bryan especially, and they worked a decent 7 minute match. Nothing amazing happened here, just decent wrestling. Team Hell No retains after Bryan hits the diving headbutt on Drew McIntyre. **1/4

CM Punk Promo - Fun segment with Punk, Heyman and Punk's personal physician coming into the ring. Heyman & Punk do their thing for a bit before introducing the doctor. They showed on the big screen a comparison of a healthy knee and what is said to be Punk's knee. Punk's knee shows that the Meniscus is heavily inflamed and swollen. The doc says that Punk isn't cleared to fight Ryback next week, which Punk seems to vehemently be against. Vince McMahon's music hits and he comes down to ringside and does his thing briefly. He tells Punk that he'll be examined by WWE physicians and said that if Punk was found to be unable to compete next week, then Ryback would face Paul Heyman in a TLC match on Raw next week instead. It sets up an interesting scenario as there's been some talk about saving the TLC match between Ryback & Punk until the 20th anniversary episode of Raw instead of the first Raw of 2013. Thumbs Up

4. Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler - A strong match, as one would expect from these two. We've seen them go at it quite a bit, so it doesn't feel all that fresh anymore, but it was still a fun match. It's especially fun to see Ziggler sell the high impact offense of Sheamus. The match became pretty back & forth after they came back from commercial break, including a nice segment in which Ziggler is trying to dislodge Sheamus from the top rope. Late in the match, Sheamus delivers White Noise and is starting to set up the Brogue Kick. Big E. Langston grabs his ankle to distract him for a bit. Ziggler comes up from behind and tries to hit the Zig Zag but Sheamus holds onto the ropes and tosses him off over the top rope. Langston catches him, almost drops him actually, cut powers him back up. The Shield suddenly hits the ring and beats Sheamus down. Sheamus is able to rally briefly before eating a spear from Reigns. They ultimately deliver the triple powerbomb and leave Sheamus lying. ***

Party Segment II - In a nutshell, this is a segment in which Mae Young is announced as being pregnant again. This is awful, just beyond awful. It's stuff like this that makes people want to take Vince McMahon in an alley and put two in the back of his head. Later in the night, they do a scene in which Mae Young "gives birth" to Hornswoggle. This shit is just atrocious and Vince is the only one that finds it funny. I don't think we'll have stuff like this with Triple H in charge and garbage like this makes me truly hope that Vince steps down soon. Thumbs Down

Eve & Kaitlyn - As it was Champion's Choice, Eve chose to face Mae Young but Mae can't compete as "she's pregnant". Kaitlyn comes out and they brawl for a bit. Nothing to care about here really. NA

4. Big Show vs. Ricardo Rodriguez for the World Heavyweight Championship - This match was mostly a continuation from SmackDown! this past Friday. Show challenges Ricardo and gets his match. Ricardo drives out in Del Rio's Mercedes and Del Rio accompanies him to ringside. Show knocks Ricardo around for a while, mostly with big slaps. Ricardo starts to get some offense in, however, and the crowd pops big for it, especially when Ricardo hits a great looking step up enziguri before attacking the knee. Show rallies and starts beating Ricardo down. Del Rio interferes and attacks Big Show, defending Ricardo. This probably sets up Big Show vs. Del Rio and I guess finally establishes that Del Rio is going face. NA

5. Kofi Kingston vs. Wade Barrett for the WWE Intercontinental Championship - Great match from Kofi & Barrett here, the best they've had against each other in my eyes. There was a lot of back & forth action in which both men looked even. These two have meshed their styles very well and it's entertaining watching Barrett's power game against Kofi's faster paced stuff. There were some good near falls scattered here and there. The end comes after Kofi goes for a springboard high cross body but Barrett ducks out of the way, causing Kofi to eat the mat. Barrett pulls Kofi up and hits the Bull Hammer elbow and picks up the clean win. Barrett wins at the 10.5 minute mark and becomes the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. A big win for Barrett and there'll no doubt be at least one more match between these two as the champ almost always gets a rematch. ***1/4

The Shield & Ryback - The Shield make their entrance to the ring and wait for Ryback. After his music hits, he gets halfway to the ring before The Shield rushes out and a brawl begins. Ryback initially gains the upper hand before The Shield gets the advantage. The crowd pops as Sheamus suddenly comes out and joins in attacking The Shield. The faces gain ground but The Shield is able to regain the advantage after a bit. Randy Orton's music suddenly hits and he comes out. In the storyling, it was The Shield that separated Orton's shoulder and put him out for a bit. With the sides equal, the babyfaces are able to rally and send The Shield packing. I think this will set up a six man tag match at the Royal Rumble, which would be a perfect time for Orton to turn heel. Thumbs Up

Dolph Ziggler & AJ Lee - The closing segment of the show was Ziggler & AJ all dressed up and coming down to the ring for a New Year's Eve toast. Ziggler runs down John Cena and shows clips of some of Cena's low points of 2012 as a response to Cena being voted Superstar of the Year at the Slammy Awards. Ziggler did an extremely good job on the mic last night. It didn't sound rehearsed to me and Ziggler had a ton of energy. I'm glad they went this route because in all honesty, Cena isn't Superstar of the Year in WWE this year because he's come up short in huge match scenarios much too often. It was fun to see Ziggler pointing all this stuff out. Before he & AJ kiss, Cena's music hits and he comes out to stand on the ramp. Cena cuts a great promo and shows just how truly good he can be when he wants to be. He runs down Ziggler in a number of different ways, including comparing his career to Ziggler's. Cena's been in WWE for a decade and has 10 WWE Championships to show for it while Ziggler's been there for 7 and has an old broad he traded in for a crazy one. I'm paraphrasing. Cena then declares that he'll be in the Royal Rumble match and that he will be WWE Champion in 2013. To close the segment, Cena drops what looks to be a bunch of mud all over Ziggler & AJ inside the ring. It's supposed to be crap but it wasn't, at least I'm pretty sure it wasn't. Certainly looked like it though. Ziggler & AJ are wallowing in a puddle of crap, furious as the show ends. Thumbs Up

Final Thoughts - I thought the last Raw of 2012 was pretty decent. Overall, it was better than the last few episodes of Raw. It wouldn't be hard at all to beat the Slammy Raw which was the worst of the year in my opinion. This week's show didn't feel like a complete throwaway. The Champion's Choice concept is interesting and could be very interesting if a few tweaks were made to it. Overall, wrestling action on the show last night was solid. The opening tag with Cena & Miz against Team Rhodes Scholars and the tag title match were both pretty solid. Sheamus vs. Ziggler was a strong match and Kofi vs. Barrett was match of the night. Cesaro's match against Slaughter wasn't anything to talk about, but it got Cesaro some heat by insulting America and by beating up a legend who happens to be a senior citizen. The stuff with Mae Young was awful. Whoever it was that angrily confronted Vince backstage a few months back, I'll kiss that person's ass if he/she punches Vince McMahon right in the nose. He deserves it for something this stupid. The promo segments were well done and all did what they were supposed to do. The brawl with The Shield and Ryback, Sheamus & Orton sets up a potential match between the three. Next week's Raw and the Raw 20th Anniversary show were also well hyped. Aside from the Mae Young foolishnees, last night wasn't a bad show at all.

Grade: B-

Jack Hammer - it's like one must have such indignation for goofy segments in order to have such passion and interest in wrestling. The Mae Young segments were cute and goofy. How can you not get some enjoyment from an 86(?) year old woman doing campy comedy? What do you think of Betty White? That woman is huge right now.

I'm not trying to change you or make your heart grow three sizes Grinch-style. I enjoy your reviews and think you're mostly spot on but if you can find it in your heart to at least tolerate these comedy segments but still be passionate and committed to the product I think we can rid the world of cancer and find the mysterious "fiscal clit".

Overall, I thought it was a really good show. I did not expect to enjoy it nearly as much as I did. I enjoyed two things I have never enjoyed before: a 3MB match; and a Brad Maddox segment (but that had more to do with Heyman and Punk - see my signature for a half-baked theory). Barrett and Kofi stole the show and gave us a title change. Sheamus and Ziggler was what I expected which is good. Miz teamed with Cena was new. I like ADR's purpose for going face. Rosa's dress. Heyman and Vickie's weird chemistry. Ziggler/AJ celebration was heel good and Cena's promo was envigorating.

It was a really entertaining show for me and all the other nine year olds that went to bed well before midnight.

I seriously hope this is a joke, I haven't watched Raw yet but I can't imagine people would find this funny. Yes I appreciate this is the PG era (questionable if this is PG content or just stupid) but this just seems like a feeble attempt at comedy.

I look forward to someone saying I am wrong for sharing my opinion.
