Amy’s ‘take’ on Smackdown 05/16/08 edition:

Opening Segment: Following a video recap of the Undertaker being stripped of the WHC and Edge winning last week’s Championship Chase, all the members of La Familia (Vicki in wheelchair, Edge, Ryder, Hawkins, Chavo, and Bam) came to the ring. Edge, who was introduced as the Next World Heavyweight Champion, said last week we witnessed a medical miracle. Lots of rest, perseverance, green tea, and support from his familia allowed him to be cleared and compete in the Chase at the last minute. Edge pointed out that Taker’s never beaten him without the now illegal chokehold and he will win the title back Sunday because Taker won’t be able to use the banned move.

Teddy Long’s music hit and he made his way down to the ring. He half-heartedly apologized for being late. Vicki berated him and reminded him of his place. Teddy explained the reason he was late was because he was meeting with the WWE Board of Directions in Stamford, CT. She blew them off and he was more than willing to answer their questions about her performance as the General Manager and relationship with Edge. Vicki claimed everything she did was for the betterment of Smackdown. Teddy delivered the board’s directive – she would compete in her first ever wrestling match tonight or be removed as GM. Teddy said he was more than capable of doing her job to which she called him a SOB and fired him. Long said she couldn’t fire him because he quit. He made his way up the ramp and paused to deliver the biggest shock yet – Vicki’s opponent would be the Undertaker.

I would have been ROFL if only Teddy had said ‘I quit this bitch!’ While I eventually saw Vicki in a match and Long either quitting or being fired, I didn’t see her facing Taker. No way it’ll go down like that. La Familia will somehow save Vicki and screw Taker again.

Match #1 CM Punk vs. Chuck Palumbo: Palumbo dominated Punk for the first half, then Punk fought back with kicks, a high running knee in the corner, and a bulldog. Palumbo countered the first GTS attempt then Punk countered the Full Throttle and scored with the second GTS attempt. Punk’s lip/mouth was legit bleeding at one point during the match.

Meh, we knew this re-match was coming, but it was nothing special. These two don’t work well together and Palumbo made Punk’s offense look like crap. Why is Mr. MITB messing around with Chuck F’N Palumbo anyway? At least Punk picked up a win finally! I think this is his first singles win in about 6 weeks. Thankfully this match was short (just under 6 minutes) and hopefully we won’t have to re-visit these two anytime soon.

Backstage: MVP interrupted Vicki, Edge, and Chavo to ask if the Championship Chase she put them through was completely or only mostly BS. Finlay entered, agreed with MVP, and said he came after some of that miracle green tea to help little Hornswoggle grow. LOL. Just what is in that green tea? If it makes Horny grow, then I’ll buy a truckload for my knees. Show joined in, commenting on the scam last week and asked what Vicki would do when she faces Taker and Edge loses his meal ticket. She reminded them she is still the GM and hoped the three beat the hell out of each other. She announced Finlay and Show versus MVP and a partner of his choice.

If she wanted the three to beat each other up, wouldn’t a triple threat match have made more sense?

Match #2 Michelle McCool vs. Layla: Natalya squashed Kelly Kelly last week so I guess it was McCool’s turn with the other ECW diva this week. Decent 2-minute squash with McCool dominating Layla. Nice leg work on Layla by McCool who showed a more aggressive side and made Layla tap out to a heel lock.

Batista Promo
: Tista said he thought he was done talking about Shawn Michaels until he saw Monday Night Raw. Video aired of HBK saying he feigned an injury for the first time in his career then delivering Sweet Chin Music to Jericho. Tista reminded us that he promised to hurt Shawn the next time he sees him if it turns out he was faking. Tista noted that Shawn has a match at Judgment Day and since he doesn’t have plans, he might be there too.

Lackluster promo. Tista just hasn’t seemed serious in his promos for quite awhile; it’s like he doesn’t give a shit unless he’s involved in a WHC storyline. And why isn’t he pissed at Vicki too? I mean he’s the one that Edge screwed last week. Anyway, Tista half-heartedly threatened to make good on his promise to Michaels. Wouldn’t it have been more effective and shocking if he didn’t warn us beforehand his intentions to somehow screw Shawn at the PPV? Tista doesn’t have a match at Judgment Day and isn’t really doing much these days, so I see this as just a way to keep him on TV so people don’t forget and stop caring about him.

Match #3 Big Show & Finlay (with Hornswoggle) vs. MVP & Mark Henry
: Finlay and MVP started off with more of the same we saw last week. Finlay was in control early, trying to get at MVP’s knee. I can’t believe MVP actually spit at Finlay as a distraction (funny heel tactic). Finlay tagged in Show and MVP took one shot then eagerly tagged in Henry. The two big men engaged in a show of strength with a couple of collar and elbow tie-ups. After a brief stalemate, Show leveled Henry with a shoulder block. Henry tagged in a surprised MVP. Show stood on MVP’s chest then tagged in Finlay. MVP regained control when he landed a vicious kick to Finlay’s face when he went to the top rope. MVP and Henry took turns working over Finlay with quick tags. Turning point came when MVP missed a knee drop and Show got the hot tag. Show chokeslammed MVP for the pinfall.

Solid 10-minute match but nothing spectacular. Finlay and MVP seem to be developing somewhat of a feud. Henry’s taken Khali’s spot. Do Show and Henry have a match at Judgment Day or not? Wow, MVP went from a year-long US title reign to this. He has zero momentum right now. Tsk tsk, WWE creative. I just hope this loss doesn’t signal the beginning of the ‘Punk treatment’ for MVP.:disappointed:

Backstage: Edge told Vicki it has to be the whole family then left. Vicki asserted she is doing a good job and is a pioneer in a male-dominated field. She said that she can’t override the board’s decision but she can make her and Taker’s match a 6-on-1 handicap.

Really WWE? Like no one saw that coming.

Match #4 Funaki vs. Vladimir Kozlov: Apparently there must be a shortage of local jobbers. This was Kozlov’s longest squash to date (2½ minutes) and most boring. WWE creative it’s time to do something with this guy already.

Match #5 Cherry vs. Maryse (with Deuce & Domino)
: Maryse started off slapping Cherry around whose fight response kicked in. Cherry landed a nice neckbreaker early on and later scored the pinfall after a bulldog. Cherry looked really hurt when D&D came out with Maryse and when Deuce tried to interfere during the match. This is the first time I’ve seen Maryse wrestle and although it was a short match and she didn’t do much more than punch, kick, and attempt a clothesline, Maryse looked better than Maria. (Not really much of a compliment, is it?:lmao:) I have a feeling we’re in store for Cherry vs. Maryse in some fashion for the next month or so.

Backstage: Kofi Kingston told Matt Hardy he’s always been a Hardy Boys fan and congratulated him on their DVD release, saying it was a truly inspirational story. Kofi and Eve wished Matt luck. Matt told Kofi to keep on rolling. As Eve and Kofi left, Shelton walked up and said the Hardys are a thing of the past and the Gold Standard is the wave of the future. Hardy reminded Shelton that Kofi’s beaten him twice in the past and at present the only gold he has is his hairdo which doesn’t count. Shelton said we’d see if Matt’s still laughing after he goes through him tonight. Hardy held up his US belt and said tonight we’d see the real gold standard.

What purpose did Eve serve in that exchange? That promo did nothing for Hardy other than plug his DVD.

Match #6 Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin (Non-title)
: I’m calling this the match of the night, but that’s relative considering how piss-poor the other matches were. Still Hardy and Benjamin put on a good match that I’d like to have seen go longer than 6 minutes. Control swung back and forth throughout the match with several covers by both men. Hardy countered a suplex and hit the Twist of Fate out of nowhere for the pinfall.

Shelton always looks impressive and while there was no way US champ Hardy would lose, this is Shelton’s third loss in a row now. At least he didn’t completely get owned. Maybe he’ll soon defeat Kofi then move into a program with Hardy for the US title. I’d like to see more Hardy-Benjamin.:)

Match #7 Vicki, Edge, Kurt Hawkins, & Zach Ryder vs. Undertaker (Main Event): As La Familia came to the ring, Chavo and Bam stopped at the top of the ramp, stared down at Vicki, Edge, Hawkins, and Ryder for a moment, then turned and left them. So it was a 4-on-1. Vicki sat in fear in her wheelchair while the Edgeheads and Edge fended off Taker’s attempts to reach her. Nice double chokeslam on Hawkins and Ryder. Taker finally cleared all three from the ring and pulled Vicki from the wheelchair. Edge hit a spear to save her from being chokeslammed. He grabbed Vicki and his cronies got her wheelchair then retreated up the ramp. Match ended in a no-contest and show closed with Taker staring them down.

Taker’s entrance lasted longer than this match (if you call it that). Vicki’s mic work is crap, but she sure can scream and sell being freaked out by Taker. It looks as though tonight marks the beginning of the end for La Familia with Chavo and Bam walking out. Might Chavo somehow screw Edge out of the title at Judgment Day?

Overall Thoughts: So I’ve been raving about how much better Smackdown has been the last two months and then tonight happened. I can’t believe they followed up a great show last week with this crap. In two hours, we had only one good match (Hardy-Benjamin). As the last show before the PPV, I understand furthering the storyline and hyping Edge vs. Taker for the WHC, but I just don’t think it needed to dominate the entire show.

TheOneBigWill's 'take' on Monday Night Raw: May 19th, 2008:

The Matches:

1. Jeff Hardy v. Umaga: The show kicks off with Jeff Hardy, still rolling from his victories over Umaga and M.V.P. from the 8 days past. Umaga apparently wanted revenge, as hes once again the opponent.

The match leaves little to the imagination on whether either man could hold a technically sound contest. Umaga, much like M.V.P. from the night before, controlled the pace and contest throughout the night. Hardy misses with a Whisper in the Wind, as both men wind up on the outside of the ring with the official quick counting to 10.

We get a double countout, as Umaga catches Jeff after he tried running on the guardrail, only to squash him like a bug against a windshield.

2. Beth Phoenix v. Maria: Melina is out first to do commentary. This match is all about (hopefully) building toward Phoenix v. Melina at One Night Stand. Melina expresses that Phoenix is crazy, because she still holds her hands up as if she's still the Champion. She also points out that it was her that carried their Tag matches, and she's always forgiven Beth for her mistakes, yet Beth can't forgive Melina for one.

The actual match was nothing more than a squash on Maria, while Melina talked. The only note worthy thing was the slap Melina verbally gave Maria, when she said she refused to pose for Playboy because she wasn't that type of girl. The match itself ended with the "Glammaslam" and then another show of massive strength, as Beth locked in a great looking submission finisher.

After the match was over, Melina ran up the ramp behind Beth and clocked her with her boot, which only added fuel to the fire on this rivalry.

3. Chris Jericho v. Batista: Its not often that I give out two match of the night's to one person, but Chris Jericho really carried Batista in this match. The overall point was that the winner would face Shawn Michaels at One Night Stand.. therefore Batista's "I pick when" statement from Judgment Day was rather pointless.

Several missed finish opportunities, and the classic "knee injury" seems to be a running theme in this trio's feud, as all three men have now tried playing off legit knee injuries. Of course Jericho recovered rather quickly, whereas Batista is apparently playing off what could be considered "real."

In the end, Jericho attempted a hurricanrana, but Batista countered into a Batista Bomb and scored the victory. Shawn Michaels came out on the stage and seemed somewhat concerned with knowing he'd once again have to face Batista. My personal opinion is Shawn is likely questioning how many more times he can escape having a successful match with Roid rage before he ends up with a real life injury from the Botchmaster.

4. You're Fired Match: Mr. Kennedy v. Lord Regal: One night shy of Judgment Day, two weeks early from One Night Stand. I'm completely curious where they're taking this angle, as I'm almost definate Regal won't stay "fired" for long.

The match itself could use a bit of work. And I'm giving Kennedy all the props in the world with the crowd noise he got tonight. By far, loudest (to me) yet. And while I still think they need to jerk his ass away from the brawler gimmick, his roundhouse kick is awesome! Regal controlled half of the match with part technical ability, part brawler instincts.

Toward the end of the match, Regal changed the rules (as I claimed he would a long time ago) and made the match a no disqualification match, so he could in turn use his knuckles. That however was short lived, as Regal decided to wait on Kennedy to get up, instead of taking the fight to him. As a result, we see a Mic-Check and here the fans explode into singing, as Regal seems confused on understanding that they actually loved seeing him fired, as opposed for giving him a standing ovation for being there. :lmao:

Segments/Promos:

Batista/Jericho: Tista joins Jericho in the lockerroom and feels that it'd be the wiser choice if Jericho just didn't show up for the match. He said he seen the match H.B.K. and he had at Judgment Day, and he felt Jericho wasn't 100%, much less capable of wrestling Batista tonight.

Jericho felt it was cocky of Tista to say such things, and said he might not be in the best condition, but perhaps he wants to take Batista out for the B-Bomb he got on the Highlight Reel, or perhaps he wants to take his frustrations out on Batista tonight, in building to Shawn for the p.p.v.

Regal/Kennedy/McMahon: Regal is in the ring, as he announces the Main Event, as well as the Hardy/U'manga' O.N.S. match. Regal expresses to J.B.L. & Orton that if they win, they each get their respective rematches, however if they lose, then Cena v. H.H.H. will happen.

After that bit, Mr. Kennedy once again interrupts Regal, as the storyline is apparently not over. Kennedy said that since Regal was handing out matches, he wanted his match request that he'd be asking for, to be answered. Regal said that Kennedy still doesn't get it, and he is beneath him. He also said that for interrupting him, there will be severe consequences. Regal goes on to say that hes so outraged, that the next person who interrupts him, will be fired on the spot.

Unfortunately for William Regal, the next person to do such a thing, happened to be HIS boss, Mr. McMahon. Kennedy, being the dick that he is, got in McMahon's face and said he was in big trouble, then proceeded to tell Regal to let him have it. McMahon put Kennedy in his place, then proceeded to do the same for Regal.

He expressed that while he backed Regal as G.M., they've received more complaints about Regal than anyone else in the history of the W.W.E. And McMahon also said hes mainly about the money, and dispite Regal being on a role with great matches.. for some reason, the ratings always drop when Regal's 'on-camera.' McMahon feels that its because the people dispise and hate him so much, they simply change the channel because they can't stand him. So as a result, hes going to make a ratings grabber of a match. Regal v. Kennedy, with the loser being fired.

Mickie James/Katie Lea: Mickie is looking on backstage, when shes interrupted by Katie Lea. Lea says that sometime soon she'll become the next Women's Champion, and she says it'll be for the best as she'll bring a bit of class to the Championship. Mickie asks how she figures, as Lea explains she feels Mickie is sleeping her way to the top. As Katie walks off, Mickie's bold statement consisted of "Whatever." (hahaha Go Katie, you tell that slag! Thats what she gets for trying to STFU Cena.)

Shawn Michaels/Regal: Michaels bumps into Regal, as he says that for once he'll get to sit back and watch Regal compete, much like Regal did the night prior. Regal replies to H.B.K., explaining that while he might have the night off tonight, he will be wrestling at One Night Stand against Jericho or Batista.. in a Stretcher's Match. H.B.K. has a somewhat worried look on his face.

McMahon/Ted DiBiase: As Regal is about ready for his match, he wanted to have one more word with Mr. McMahon who was a bit busy with the return of the Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase. Regal seemed somewhat upset and jealous of Ted being there, as he left. The segment ended with McMahon discussing his money with DiBiase. (Where is THIS leading?)

Piper's Pit: I'm not even truly wanting to explain all of this, but the short of it is Santino takes up the role of playing 'Rodney the Piper' and introduces his guest, Cousin Sal. Santino runs his mouth to Sal, who returns with the same about how Santino has failed to do everything he set forth to do. Become a Tag Team Champion, (He's working on it) defeat Steve Austin, (It was a draw) and sleep with a Playmate.

Santino laughs at this one, until Sal informs him that he spoke with Maria backstage, and she informed him that he was hung like a 4th grader. Santino quickly expresses that 4th graders are maturing very quickly for their age, he apparently has photos. Que a Ron Simmons "Damn" clip and we're continuing.

In the end, it was the real 'Rodney the Piper' who once again took a cake in the ring, as Sal shoved it into Santino's face. Somehow in the end, a match between Santino Marella v. Cousin Sal was made. (PLEASE, don't let it be on Pay Per View)

Regal/Teddy Long: Regal, following his loss, is pleading for Mr. McMahon to open Regal's office door. As the door finally opens, Regal is shocked and surprised with what he sees. As the camera turns slightly, and the 'figure' walks out of the room, we see its Teddy Long, who will apparently take over the Raw G.M. side of things.

Triple H.: Trips is asked if Orton & J.B.L. have an advantage since Cena & Trips aren't the best of friends. H.H.H. says that while its not a secret that He and Cena don't get along, he doesn't feel Orton and J.B.L. are going on lunch dates either. He goes on to express that the night prior, both Cena and himself picked up victories, so that (to him) gives them the advantage. He finishes with saying be it Orton, or Cena, the one thing that remains true is that Triple H. is the best in the business.

Main Event: Extreme Implications Match: Triple H. & John Cena v. J.B.L. & Randy Orton: The match opens with Cena and Orton, which I never thought I'd be as thankful for seeing as I was. Both seem evenly matches, as they both tag out. Upon this happening, Triple H. takes complete control of the match.

The ending saw Cena lock in the S.T.F.U. on J.B.L., as H.H.H. chased Orton around the ring. As Orton rolled back in, he took the opening and punted Cena, as Triple H. and Orton once again squared off, leaving J.B.L. to pick up the pinfall, setting up a pair of rematches to make Judgment Day completely worthless and utterly pointless. J.B.L. wants first blood, while Orton wants a Last Man Standing match. They end the show with both men owning Triple H. and John Cena.

Overall Thoughts: Building Hardy/Umaga for the p.p.v. is about like building Triple H. v. Orton. Even if its a gimmick, you clearly know which one is coming out on top and all its going to do is create a filler spot for the jobbing opponent.

I'm personally loving the fact that they're now bringing in Katie Lea into the Women's Championship picture. This is four of the top talented divas, with Jillian next in line as the 5th. I doubt we'll get two diva matches on Pay Per View, but each feud - Phoenix/Melina and Lea/James are matches I'm completely looking forward to.

They showed clips of Cade/Murdoch, as I assume they wanted to keep it fresh, without wasting television time on either of them personally. I'm still unclear what they fully think either could do as a single's Superstar.

Would it be shocking to discover Jericho finds his way into the Batista/H.B.K. match, at One Night Stand? I mean does anyone truly wanna see Tista v. H.B.K. 2? And a Triple Threat Stretcher match seems very interesting.

Regarding Maria/Santino.. How does Maria know how 4th grader's are hung to begin with? As far as Santino and Sal go, well all I can say is.. this is W.W.E. meets W.C.W., they had Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone, and Jay Leno. We have Cousin Sal.

I'm almost dreading the entire week that I have to put up with hearing about Kennedy finally winning a match that meant something. When the sad, pathetic truth of it is.. Regal will either A.) Return, or B.) Honestly stay gone forever because the fans dispised him so much. Either way, I won the debate I was expressing.. which is Regal becoming a great heel. And face facts, I don't know how much bigger of a heel you have to be, for an entire federation's fan base to WANT to see you gone. Thats downright "hatred." And if its even remotely true, then Regal is going to go down in history as the greatest heel to ever play the fans.

However, when (not if) Regal returns, the match with Kennedy will likely be on Pay Per View, at which point Regal will go over. So, Kennedy wins a Raw match that "ended" Regal's career, for what I assume will be roughly 1-2 weeks. Regal returns, gets a rematch, wins over Kennedy on Pay Per View.. and my other point gets proven, in which its actually Kennedy's "band wagon" of new found fans, that boast him, to put Regal over.. instead of the other way around. Yet, "I'M" the moron because Regal lost the first match.. Storyline isn't over, boys.

Speaking, however, of storylines that should be well beyond over. Triple H. v. Orton, A-F*CKING-GAIN! Seriously, how utterly useless and pointless was it to have a Steel Cage match at Judgment Day, when this feud extends to where it unofficially began, in a Last Man Standing match. At least I understand J.B.L. v. Cena 2, although the First Blood gimmick is completely ******ed.

Overall, Raw has regained my full attention with most of their shock-value matches and storylines. Outside of H.H.H. v. Orton, for the 40974074900972 fucking time, I'm interested in every storyline. I give tonight's Raw a 9 outta 10 rating.

TheOneBigWill's 'take' on Friday Night Smackdown: May 23rd, 2008:

Opening Segment: When Vickie Guerrero receives this type of heat, there is just no way to counter that. This hot Iowan crowd just downright boo'd the holy shit right outta her. Had I of been there, I'd of been bitch slappin' some corn f*ckers! From the sounds of it, I'd of likely gotten my ass beat too, as the entire arena (just like Judgment Day) did NOT let her talk.

What she got out, however, was very impactful. She explained that at Judgment Day it'll be Edge v. Taker, one more time, possibly (hopefully) one last time, in a Tables, Ladders and Charis match. With the extra added (stupid) stipulation, that if the Undertaker does not win, he'll be banished from the entire W.W.E., completely.

The Matches:

1. Jesse, Festus & Cherry v. Deuce, Domino & Maryse: This is the type of Tag Team action I missed. Some straight up serious teams, not slapped together B.S. and a nice little feud to boot. While Maryse and Cherry neither one are very "good" the fact that this was an old school Team w/ diva v. Team w/ diva match was great.

I need to say it just to get it out of the way. I LOVED the entrance of Cherry w/ Festus, he gave her that look only a Farmer gives his goat. :lmao: She looked downright scared of him, and how he kept a straight face from her deer in the headlights look I'll never know.

Anyways, nice solid Tag Team work, with Foley (the moron that he is) taking up Lawler's role in continuously wanting to see the divas in the match instead. In the end, due to a misque it was Maryse getting the pin on Cherry, as Foley would not shut the f*ck up about Cherry.

2. Finlay v. Chuck Palumbo: For a match that meant absolutely nothing, this one sure took up 70% of the night. Incredible brawl between these two, that in the end meant absolutely nothing.

I can't understand why they would waste this much time on a guy (Palumbo) who they aren't pushing anywhere, anymore. And the other one (Finlay) who seems content with playing with his so-called son.

In the end, Hornswoggle spit green mist (ala Tajiri) into Palumbo's face, helping Finlay pick up the victory after a shillelagh (sp?) shot. As if the blindness from the mist wasn't enough. To add stupidity to the list, the official acts as if he has no clue how Palumbo got green all over himself. Hmmm, must be some type of weird flu bug going around, you f*cking moron?!

3. M.V.P. v. Batista: The downward spiral of pointlessness continues for M.V.P. as hes more or less fed to Batista. He (M.V.P.) at least controlled most of this match, however it didn't take Batista long to hit the Batista Bomb and pick up the victory.

The only thing of interesting note is, Foley said he was counting how long M.V.P. was out from the B-Bomb, to see if it'd be enough time to get a Superstar (Shawn Michaels) on the stretcher and push them across the line. In the end, sadly, this was the best match of the night for the most part.

4. Nunzio v. Vladimir Kozlov: Just like I gave everyone a treat who seen my E.C.W. review. I'm gonna let you all in on another one. You see, while Kozlov has no personality, no charisma or character. The guy is rather dominate. So much so infact that he destroyed the poor little cruiserweight within a matter of minutes.

So, because I'm looking at Kozy in a whole new light. I'd like you to see why. Its because of his personal theme song he uses to get pumped before every match, I'd like to share with you all now.. ENJOY...

5. Matt Hardy & Kofi Kingston v. Elijah Burke & Shelton Benjamin: Ironically it was (I believe) in my E.C.W. review that I questioned where Elijah Burke is, and here he is! Burke gets a very decent amount of time, and why the W.W.E. continues to not use him is beyond me. Benjamin and Burke make a damn fine team.

When I said Batista/M.V.P. got the match of the night honors, it wasn't because I felt it was better than this match, more so because I felt it had more of a point. The Kofi/Benjamin storyline is getting old and its time for a change. They could allow Burke/Kingston to begin feuding, and Benjamin/Hardy. That'd be a nice change of pace, although the ending of this match was Kofi once again defeating Benjamin, so who knows where (if anywhere) they're taking that.

Promos/Segments:

Edge/Vickie/Chavo: Chavo comes in, only to instantly get a face full of Vickie and Edge both annoyed by his actions last week. Chavo apologizes and wants to assure them hes with them, etc, etc. Vickie decides to make a match based off this. Chavo Guerrero, v. The Undertaker. Naturally, Chavo flips out. At which point Edge tries playing him into using the term "scared" and "afraid."

Chavo says he isn't afraid, and suddenly gets pumped by random words. Edge then assures Chavo that La' Familia has his back. (like Chavo had Edge's last week?)

V.I.P. Lounge: Teddy Long/Batista: M.V.P. originally wanted to invite Teddy on his show, to explain his side of the story to the Vickie Guerrero/Edge issue. However when Teddy got out there, M.V.P. quickly changed his tune and said he hadn't forgotten all that Long put him through. He said since Long isn't in power anymore, M.V.P. is gonna give him a piece of his mind.

Teddy quickly explains that he doesn't have to stay and listen to this, which causes M.V.P. to get a bit physical, until Batista unexpectedly comes out. Batista says that he isn't out to cause trouble, he just wanted to wish Teddy the best in the future and say his goodbyes. Upon doing that, he then enlightens M.V.P. to what will happen, if M.V.P. ever touches Teddy Long again.

M.V.P. says thats considered disrespect to him, to which Batista defines the finer points of what a threat and being disrespectful are all about. He basically trashes the V.I.P. Lounge and the segment ends.

M.V.P./La Familia: While Edge, Chavo & Vickie are all discussing the Main Event, M.V.P. storms in and demands something be done with Batista. M.V.P. argues that Vickie doesn't even watch Smackdown, as if she did, she'd see her highest paid Superstar was in danger of being injured.

With Edge's help, Vickie explains that since M.V.P. has all this rage built up, all this anger inside, he'll get to take it out in a match.. with Batista. M.V.P. quickly backtracks, explaining thats not what he meant, but the match is final.

Main Event: Chavo Guerrero v. The Undertaker: The match is yet another classic set-up of what could be a 4 on 1 handicap match, with Edge, Hawkins and Ryder outside the ring. However, before any advantage can be taken.. (I had my back to the television, so I'm unsure if they actually made contact) Edge & 'company' were thrown out from ringside before being fully capable of doing major harm to the Undertaker, leaving the match a one on one match-up. (Well, with Neely still there I suppose)

This of course made the Main Event a glorified squash match, with Chavo getting a couple moves here and there, if he was lucky. In the end, Neely took a shot from Taker, Chavo went for the finish, Taker reversed it, then got the victory.

Overall Thoughts: Honestly, horrible show. The Batista and Shawn Michaels storyline is shit when they aren't both together. The result, Batista more or less destroying M.V.P. for no reason other than bordom.

Smackdown's two biggest divas right now, are Cherry and Maryse apparently, which leaves the likes of Natalya, Victoria and even McCool in the dark. While I'm thrilled they could be going somewhere with the Tag Team division, (again) it seems everytime I get my hopes up.. they get ruined. So I won't hold my breath on Jesse/Festus or Deuce/Domino being anything more than pawns in the diva war between Maryse & Cherry.

Finlay has no direction, Kozlov desperately needs a decent challenge, they randomly just so happen to have a Hardcore rules Pay Per View coming up. What.. are.. the.. odds. Unfortunately, they won't play this off. Finlay v. Kozlov MIGHT be the one saving grace for both individuals, if it happens before the Summer.

Since dropping the United States Championship, M.V.P. has been everyone's personal new bitch lately. Meanwhile, since winning the U.S. Championship, Matt Hardy has done even less with it than Marty Jannetty did with the Intercontinental Championship in 1993.

Edge & Taker, in a T.L.C. match had the best set-up to end the feud on an unknown level. That is until Vickie and the powers that be decided they'd play it cool, by adding that the Undertaker could be banished forever if he doesn't win. Now naturally it could still go either way, and honestly I think this is W.W.E.'s way of mocking Joe/Angle from Lockdown.. only with Edge winning, and Taker then still returning, which makes the stip. pointless, worthless and every other type of less you could possibly think of.

As far as Smackdown's rating.. 4 outta 10, simply because the opening Tag match, the Hardy/Kingston tag match, and the M.V.P./Batista match. Still not nearly enough to save Smackdown from dying slowly, in the most painful way possible.

Amy’s LATE ‘take’ on Smackdown 05/23/08 edition:

Opening Segment
: Edge wheeled onto the ramp. She said that last Sunday at Judgment Day she carried out the most important GM duty – enforcing the rules and regulations – when she corrected the ref's error of awarding the Undertaker the WHC following Edge’s countout. She reminded us the title can only be won via pinfall or submission. Vicki promised there will be no such mistake in 2 weeks at One Night Stand and made the most extreme WHC match ever – Edge versus Undertaker in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. She turned to leave then added that if the Undertaker loses, he will be banished from the WWE.

I’m psyched for a TLC match between these two, but was the Taker banishment stipulation really needed? Taker’s not going anywhere for another year or two. It just makes the TLC match predictable – Edge will shine doing what he’s good at and still lose to Taker in the end, making it 4 losses in a row.

Match #1 Jesse and Festus & Cherry vs. Deuce and Domino & Maryse: Festus went nuts and dominated for a minute then tagged in Jesse who got worked over by Deuce and Domino. The ‘hot’ tag went to Cherry who went right after Maryse. Following a botched bulldog by Cherry (seriously I worried for Maryse there), D & D broke up the cover, prompting Jesse and Festus to ‘clean house’. Festus kicked Deuce into Cherry then she got kicked hard in the face by Maryse for the pinfall.

Just your run of the mill 6-minute mixed tag match that furthers the Cherry and D & D break-up storyline. I guess D & D aren’t getting makeovers. While it was nice to see Jesse and Festus again, I’d prefer Cherry was paired with Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore who always put on high-energy, exciting matches. Yang and Moore have gone MIA at the moment as we know the WWE can only focus on two teams at a time. And I guess they’ve put McCool-Natalya on hold while they push Cherry-Maryse, which by extension means no Widow’s Peak for awhile.

Backstage: Chavo interrupted Edge and Vicki. He said he doesn’t want any misunderstanding between La Familia and had his reasons for walking off last week. Vicki was glad there are no hard feelings because she’s put him in a 1-on-1 match with the Undertaker. Chavo started freaking out. Edge said he was afraid to which Chavo replied he is a Guerrero and afraid of no one. Edge assured Chavo the entire familia (Bam, Hawkins, Ryder, and even Edge himself) would have his back. Hmm, I see Chavo being deserted later on as payback.

MVP’s VIP Lounge: MVP came to the ring and delivered his standard catchphrases then introduced his guest – the former Smackdown GM Theodore Long. MVP had planned to give Long an opportunity to tell his side of the story but changed his mind. Instead he wanted to say all that he couldn’t when Long was his boss. MVP said he hadn’t forgotten all Teddy put him through and that Long was jealous of his money, good looks, clothes, and long beautiful hair. LOL. Long said he wasn’t going to listen to this. MVP grabbed him by his tie and said he’d listen until he was dismissed.

Batista’s music hit and he made his way down. MVP advised him not be playing the hero, trying to protect the weak. Tista said he only wanted a chance to say goodbye and wish Teddy well as he always thought he was a fair and good GM. Tista then threatened MVP if he put his hands on Long again. MVP said Tista needed to be sweating his upcoming stretcher match with Michaels and not getting his chin pushed back into his head.:lmao: MVP took offense to Tista disrespecting him by interrupting his VIP Lounge. Tista proceeded to give a demonstration on being disrespectful as he trashed the set. MVP backed out of the ring and up the ramp.

I don’t know why I never really noticed Long’s music before. I’d like them to play up the ‘militant’ thing in the coming weeks, that is wherever he lands. Not MVP’s strongest mic work; he sounded a little rushed and unsure of himself. Still, I always mark out for a VIP Lounge segment. Batista going ‘Karate Kid’ on the set was hilarious.

Backstage: MVP interrupted Vicki and Edge. He asked if she was even watching the show as he could have been injured out there. Of course she doesn’t watch her own show; it’s not like she’s the GM or anything. To make things right (or rather to punish MVP’s intrusion), Vicki put MVP in a match with Batista later in the night.

Match #2 Finlay (w/ Hornswoggle) vs. Chuck Palumbo: Nice back and forth for the first 2½ minutes then Hornswoggle came out from under the ring and sprayed Palumbo with a water gun. Palumbo went after Horny on the outside and got leveled by Finlay. Back in the ring, Palumbo established control and worked Finlay over for a solid five minutes. Palumbo once again went for Horny at ringside and drug him into the ring. Horny sprayed green mist in Palumbo’s eyes then distracted the ref so Finlay could hit Palumbo with the shillelagh for the pinfall.

I could care less about a match involving Chuck Palumbo. At least Finlay made this one bearable. What I could do without is Hornswoggle’s continued antics and Finlay’s overuse of the shillelagh to win matches. Finlay’s better than all that. Turn him heel again then maybe I wouldn’t mind so much.

Match #3 MVP vs. Batista: Match of the night that was given good time (14 minutes). Tentative start with MVP taking a rest in the corner then ducking out of the ring. Back in the ring, Tista executed some nice cross rope work, including of all things a leapfrog! I guess Tista’s knee is all better after his match with Jericho on Monday. MVP landed a huge kick sending Tista over the rope to the floor. Moments later, Tista caught MVP going top rope but MVP held on to Tista’s arm on his way to the floor. MVP worked over Tista’s arm both in and out of the ring, using the ring post, and Tista did a good job selling the arm. MVP hit a neckbreaker and sized Tista up for a finishing big kick. Tista hit a spear out of nowhere then gave MVP a dose of his own medicine, sending him shoulder-first into three ring posts. Tista avoided a low blow kick and delivered a one-armed spinebuster and Batista Bomb for the pinfall.

Tista continues to wow lately. Of course it’s hard NOT to have a good match when you’re working with the likes of HBK, Jericho, Morrison, and yes MVP. Tista’s starting to show his age though (the graying temples). I’m OK with pushing him, but I don’t like that it comes at the further expense of MVP. He could’ve used the victory to help re-establish himself following the ‘Punk treatment’ he’s gotten since Hardy’s return. It looks like MVP will remain in that realm between upper mid-card and jobber to the stars a while longer.:disappointed:

Match #4 Nunzio vs. Vladmir Kozlov: Kozlov picked up another quick victory. So he has made his way up the proverbial jobber ladder; he went from local unknown jobbers to Delaney to Funaki to the consummate jobber Nunzio. Seriously, who’s left for him to squash? Meh, they’ll probably just give Yang or Moore the job next week.

Match #5 Matt Hardy & Kofi Kingston vs. Elijah Burke & Shleton Benjamin: Kofi and Elijah started, but Hardy got the early tag. Nice back and forth action between Hardy and Burke punctuated by a couple quick tags to Benjamin. Shelton briefly wore down Hardy who fought back and hit a sloppy-looking Side Effect. Kofi got the ‘hot’ tag and showed more of his high-flying offense. I guess his knee’s all better too...gimme a break WWE, where is the continuity from one show to the next? Elijah broke up the cover and Hardy sent him to the floor. While Shelton was disposing of Hardy, Kofi landed the Trouble in Paradise kick out of nowhere for the pinfall.

It was a good albeit shorter match (under 5 minutes) than I’d like. That ending just pissed all over Shelton’s win over Kofi on Tuesday’s ECW. It’s now 3-1 Kofi. For now, I’m just happy Burke was on TV again after a 2-month hiatus, although it’ll probably be another 2 months before we see him again. Someone should tell Michael Cole to stop with the whole Matt Hardy wants to be the fighting-est US Champion bit because last time I checked Matt is feud-less right now.

Match #7 Chavo (w/ Edge, Kurt Hawkins, Zach Ryder, & Bam Neely) vs. Undertaker (Main Event): Undertaker went on the offensive with a series of punches and Old School. After a missed a big boot, Taker went over the top rope to the floor where he was ganged up on by Edge and the Edgeheads. The ref ejected the Rated R trio. Chavo managed to get in some punches, kicks, and a nice DDT before Taker did the classic sit-up/back to life thing. Twice Bam hit the apron and prevented the chokeslam before being leveled. Taker reversed Chavo’s flying cross body into the Tombstone Piledriver for the win.

Meh, the ME did nothing for me.:zzzz: It just felt like I’d seen this exact match before. Plus, the outcome was predictable. Taker going over Chavo does nothing for him. Mostly, I’m disappointed that Edge and the Edgeheads didn’t bail on Chavo. Edge’s “stable” has grown stale and I’m ready for Chavo and Bam to do their own thing on ECW.

Overall Thoughts: For the second week in a row, a disappointing show on so many levels. I think it’s clear that Smackdown is in a rut. We’re in store for Edge versus Taker for the fourth straight PPV. Their feud needs to be over once and for all at ONS. Sadly though, I think they’ll milk it until Night of Champions. Most obvious is the fact there are too many stars tossed into meaningless match-ups when they could give these guys real feuds (MVP, Hardy, Finlay, Palumbo, Kozlov just to name a few) and make the show more exciting.

Alright everyone here we go with another exciting edition of Monday Night Raw. By now Im sure you know how it goes I'll give my thoughts on the night's events and rate them on a scale from 0-5. The overall show rating is the average of all the rating combined. Tonight I'll start off with hmmm.... Promos.

Promo1: Orton and HHH: For the love of God how many times are we going to have to sit through an Orton/HHH promo. They not only have gotten really stale, but they are literally the same thing over and over. If I had a recording from the 1st time these guys had a Last Man Standing Match, I could play the promos leading up to them and they would probably be word for word. So for me the show started off kinda crappy. Orton's promos I feel are not really improving exactly, but he has been adding a lot more emotion into them which is great. The promo starts the show off at a solid 1 out of 5.

Promo 2 Cousin Sal and Piper: Could they have drawn out that stupid thing any longer than they did. I had to include it as a promo cause it took so damn long and really wasted a slot that could have been used for a match... I give it a 0 out of 5 cause I just despise when WWE wastes show time like that, not to mention I don't think too many people actually cared about it.

Promo 3 JBL/Vince/Mickie: Funniest quote of the night found right in this lil thing by JBL. I don't remember it exactly, but it had something to do with a pinata. I give it a 2 out of 5.

Promo 4 Vince's Announcment: Well we finally have our draft. In four weeks things will finally be shaken up once again, and I think I say for everyone, it's about time. I was happy about that. However..... I found the surprise very stupid. Giving away 1 million at each Raw... They hyped it up to be so huge... Just ugh... 1 out of 5 and it gets that only cause of the draft coming otherwise it'd be a 0...

Promo 5 Cryme Tyme: Same old stuff here. Y2J asks Vince for a rematch with HBK... Then we have Cryme Tyme do they're stupid money money thing... OLD NEWS... 0 out of 5...

Despite the lack of great promos, the matches tonight were all right. There was not one that I didn't see as not needed.

Match 1 Jillian Hall vs Melina: I like the fact that they are making Melina seemingly go face. Her and Beth will I think be able to have a pretty intense feud. As for this match though. It was certainly not a blockbuster by any means, but it was needed. Since Beth proved last week she can destroy Maria. Melina needed to have a match this week and... Whata shock win by submission. I was rather entertained the whole time though and Beth was great at ringside. I give it a solid 3 out of 5.

Match 2 Londrick vs Rhodes and Holly: We've seen it before, but it still was an alright match. Lonrick did they're usual high flying stuff which is always sick to see. A decent amount of back and forth action, and Londrick getting a damn close near win. The real treat came after Rhodes and Holly retained when Ted Dibiase introduced his son, who looks like Orton as the newest member of the Raw roster. The match... I give it a 2 out of 5.

Match 3 Cena and Jeff Hardy vs Umaga and JBL: I must go on the record and say this. Since Cena has not been in the title picture I have had no problem with him other than his entrance theme. This match the fans I think were into the most. Primarly for the fact that it was Cena and Hardy. The ending looked kind of sloppy, but it may have supposed to look like that. JBL actually picked up the pin on Hardy after Umaga derailed himself and Cena. Good match with a lot of back and forth action. Still waiting to see the day Hardy goes for a Whisper In The Wind and JBL boots him 1/2 way. I give it a 4 out of 5

Kennedy vs Carlito: Another match that had to happen. After knocking Regal off last week they could not have Kennedy be on Raw. So he owned Carlito in a rather quick, but still good match. Afterwards the Burchills owned Kennedy setting up both of they're next feuds. Alright match gets a 2 out of 5 and I have realitivly high hopes for this feud after pondering it.

Y2J vs HBK: Finally a rematch that I get to see. Huzzah. I loved the match. I have not gotten to see HBK vs Y2J since before Y2J left a few years back. So happy to see it. The match I thought was excellent. Great ending with both guys trying signature moves and dodging them all. I was not happy about the double count out due to the Walls on the floor. Y2J I thought was going to crack HBK with the chair, but hey I'm liking the possible heel, possible face thing for Y2J. He helped HBK back to his feet so... I give the match a 5 out of 5. Great main event for the show!

Alright that's my take on everything. Now for the overall rating... We have.... a.... 2 out of 5. We can thank the promos for that rating. They were IMO horrendous. The matches though were great. WWE please fix your promos!!!!! If they amped them up just a bit this could easily had been a 4-5 show for me...

TheOneBigWill's 'take' on Monday Night Raw: May 26th, 2008:

Opening Segment: Raw opens with Mr. McMahon on the tron. He explains that while William Regal got exactly what he deserved last Monday, are we the 'fans' getting what we deserve? He continues to express how we deserve action, excitement, drama, etc, etc, and appreciation. So McMahon says that he will show us appreciation, even if it means doing something thats never been done before in the history of the W.W.E.

In connection to the opening segment, they begin the show with a Face Off between the W.W.E. Champion and Challenger, Triple H. and Randy Orton. The first question is to Randy, and its asked how he feels he can beat Triple H... Orton says that its just like all the other times, everyone overassumes and under-estimates everything Orton has done. Why can't it just be said that Orton has already proved how much of a threat he is, and instead everyone continues to want something more. Orton says that Sunday, the joke is over & the laughing will stop.

Triple H. counters back by saying the people laugh at Orton, because hes a pussy. H.H.H. says that he isn't under-estimating anything Orton can do, however. H.H.H. knows how great Orton is, even more than Orton does. Triple H. says all those times Orton said he was the best, he felt that it wasn't Orton trying to convince the fans of it, it was him trying to convince himself. Triple H. continues to exclaim that in order to be the best, you have to thrive on competition, you have to accept everything that comes your way.

Orton fires back with the greatest point of all. How can Triple H. of all people claim thats the truth, when so many times in the past, whenever a threat has come up. Triple H. either brings it close and becomes friends with it, or eliminates it quickly, before it can build a serious threat. He uses Shawn Michaels as the first example, claiming that the only reason H.H.H. and H.B.K. are friends again, is because H.H.H. knows H.B.K. can defeat him, so he wants to make sure that threat isn't there.

Orton continues, using Evolution as the next example, saying that Triple H. put together the greatest faction in history, the biggest group of power, ever. Orton says he (H.H.H.) did that, so he wouldn't have to worry about facing them. And one by one, Orton, Batista, Flair, all became a threat, Triple H. took them out one by one, until the threat wasn't there anymore.

The segment ends on a Triple H. note of -- "This Sunday, one of two things will happen. Either the 'Age of Orton' will resume. Or it'll be as if it never happened."

The Matches:

1. Jillian Hall v. Melina: Beth Phoenix is doing commentary for this match, as Melina gets a nice face welcome from the Denver crowd. (Its surreal to hear them cheering Melina) Jillian says that while she loves Melina, she feels that at One Night Stand, in the I Quit match, Melina has 'No Chance In Hell' as she breaks into song.

Melina & Jillian have an okay match, but it wasn't without its fair share of botched moved. Nothing above average in this match, as its just a small statement from Melina, to Beth, proving that she can stand toe to toe with the monster diva in the brand. Melina wins with her old school submission finisher - the Kyrapractor/California Dreams.

2. World Tag Team Championships: Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes v. Paul London & Brian Kendrick: Holy crap, can you say super-sized burst of excitement?! MATCH OF THE NIGHT! Its definately rare that I'd give this to anyone, especially over a card that has Jericho/H.B.K. on it. But if you seen both, I'm sure you'd agree that this Tag Team match is exactly what the Tag Team division needs more of.

Great tags, fast paced action, and a superior finish! Kendrick & London looked very strong in this match and I thought for sure we had new Champions on the way, but in the end it was Holly who took advantage of London, as he (London) tried 'skinning the cat' back into the ring, but found himself on the wrong end of an Alabama-Slamma! Holly & Rhodes retain, in their best match yet!

3. John Cena & Jeff Hardy v. J.B.L. & Umaga: How funny is it that this match wasn't even half of what the above mentioned Tag Team contest was? Thats not just sad, its down right pathetic. This was a piss poor attempt at building off two feuds, going into Sunday's Pay Per View.

The match showed an equal amount of everyone getting their just shots in, as the ending saw Jeff Hardy take a slightly botched Clothesline From Hell. The only stupid thing I see is the opening bit with Cena seemingly too weak to lift Umaga. (Yet he was perfectly fine with picking Big Show up.) Overall, this was the worst match on the card to me. Still great for the two feuds, but nothing special.

4. Mr. Kennedy v. Carlito: With Regal, Kennedy is huge. Without him, hes defeating jobbers. This match was average at best, and I blame Carlito more than Kennedy. During the match, Carlito botched the roundhouse kick, which is the one move I enjoy by Kennedy. In the end, Kennedy connects with a Mic-Check, and picks up the victory.

But the fun didn't stop there, as my prayers were answered, and the greatest new Diva on Raw, Katie Lea interrupted Mr. Kennedy explaining that while most are thrilled with what Kennedy did, in ending Regal's career, some aren't.

This was followed by the greatest development of all. PAUL F*CKING BURCHILL delivering the shot of the night, to the back of Kennedy's head, and single-handedly continuing the Regal feud, as well as pushing what should be a decent mini-faction upon Regal's return. In the meanwhile, upon waiting for Regal's return, it looks as if Paul Burchill will get the push, which is the greatest news yet!

Main Event: Shawn Michaels v. Chris Jericho: While it wasn't the final thing to happen on the night, it was the last match, making it the Main Event. This would have to definately be considered an under-achivement of what they can do. While it was still a good match, it had a terrible ending, and anytime these two have a match, they deserve more time.

It started off pretty decent, and we seen a lot of what we've seen before from the two of them. Each man counters the others signature moves, and in the end, it was Chris Jericho locking in the Walls of Jericho on H.B.K. outside the ring, as the official counts both men out for a Double Countout finish.

Jericho refused to release the hold, and ends up shoving the official then grabbing a chair. As Jericho gets ready to swing, full force, he pulls back as if to question everything hes done. Jericho instead extends his hand, as H.B.K. looks on quite honestly scared for his life, as Jericho pulls him up, tosses the chair down, then walks away.

Promos/Segments:

Jericho/Cryme Tyme/McMahon: McMahon is in the back with Jericho, asking what he feels Jericho would do, to make the fans feel appreciated. Jericho says he feels they'd wanna see Jericho v. H.B.K., tonight. McMahon makes the match. Jericho then expresses his ability to sing, and sadly enough I'm unsure if he was trying to sound just as horrible as Jillian or not, but I do like some Fozzy songs, and he definately shouldn't of tried doing McMahon's song.

This is followed by Cryme Tyme coming in, a small promo between all of them is cut, involving what I can only describe as utter shit, and Cryme Tyme leaves with Regal's old pictures, that they (during commercial) sell off.

Ted DiBiase/DiBiase Jr.: BEST PROMO OF THE NIGHT! After the Tag Team Championship match, the Million Dollar Man comes out and announces that the Tag Champs days our numbered, as he announces the newest Raw Superstar.. Ted muthaf*ckin' DiBiase ESQUIRE! (I marked incredibly hard for this shit)

TD2 cuts the greatest promo ever, in recent memory, and explains that Everyone has a price, except for him, because hes PRICELESS! (GREATEST TAG LINE, EVER!) The only flaw that leaves the door wide open, is typically when you challenge a Champion, its a Single's Champion. TD2 is one partner shy of having a complete team, so I'm very excited to see who he'll bring in, hopefully next week.

Roddy Piper/Cousin Sal: We go from the greatest debut and promo in recent memory, to the worst thing in wrestling, with the pathetic version of the "entertainment" aspect of it. Piper destroys Sal in a "training" session, while Jimmy Kimmel sits at ringside, eating popcorn and naming off ******ed names, as he relates them to wrestling moves. :disappointed: Not only am I not a fan of this whole storyline, but this storyline alone is setting wrestling back by about 20 years.

Mickie James/J.B.L./McMahon: McMahon continues with asking the Superstars how they'd show appreciation, and apparently Mickie wants to single handedly go from High School to High School and fuck every jock there, since not only can she not SEE Cena, she can't find his penis either. :p

J.B.L. interrupts with the greatest segway possible, in expressing that he feels Mickie is wanting the divas to become an escort service. (NICE Smashley reference) Mickie says that was low, then J.B.L. says he has a better idea. Cut up the ring mat from One Night Stand, specifically the parts that'll have Cena's blood, and sell it.

He (J.B.L.) says that Mickie & Cena have exchanged enough bodily fluids as-is. She says that was uncalled for, and McMahon protects J.B.L. in saying he thinks Bradshaw meant saliva.

Shawn Michaels/McMahon: Continuing along, H.B.K. says that he isn't trying to discredit Mr. McMahon, but the idea of McMahon doing something decent, for the fans, just doesn't seem like his type of thing.

McMahon says that when its all said and done, even H.B.K. will have to give the devil his due. Shawn says McMahon would know greatly about that.

Trevor Murdoch/McMahon: Yet another audition segment of "So You Think You Can Sing" (McMahon's song) with another dropout from American Idol. McMahon tells Murdoch to gather everyone on the roster up, and have them on the stage, after the Main Event match. Murdoch says he'll get everyone except Cade. (yet Cade was out there, how EVER did he know to be out there. Hmmm)

Ending Segment: McMahon is in the ring, and announces that he is there to prove he'll show appreciation to the fans. He says what they need, are new Superstars, new Divas, new Feuds, new Action. So in 4 weeks (I believe that'd put it the Raw after Night of Champions, but I could be wrong) they'll hold a Draft Lottery. However that wasn't his big announcement. (It honestly should've been, because what I have to say next, is flat out stupid)

McMahon says that hes going to do something thats never been done before, hes going to give away the sum of One Million Dollars, to the fans of Raw. (yeah, that'll boost the ratings) He claims it isn't fake. He claims its real. He claims its never been done before. I claim its pathetic, stupid and won't help shit, because much like me, 80% of the other wrestling fans know they won't be winning any money.. and until one of us does, and can prove its 100% real, noone will tune in for this crap.

The show ends on the note that he'll be giving away money. Seriously.. I think they could've ended on the Draft note, not the money part.

Overall Thoughts: I completely loved tonight's Raw, and from top to bottom I'll tell you why. First, the addition of Beth Phoenix v. Melina to the Pay Per View will mark two p.p.v.'s, back to back, in which they've done something right regarding the divas. I'm very excited for this match. I think the build could've been slightly better, but overall I'm very excited for Sunday.

By far, the greatest Tag Team Championship match Raw's brand has ever held in recent memory, happened tonight. And it didn't even involve more than two teams. I loved this match, and hope to see more of them to come.

Ted DiBiase's son debuting, and carrying on the Million Dollar Gimmick no less (I assume and hope, anyways) is the single greatest thing to happen in a very long while. Although TD2 looks more like Randy Orton than DiBiase. Thats a bit odd. None the less, consider TheOneBigWill the very first TD2 fan!

J.B.L./Cena in a First Blood match is still up there on the worst idea ever, and the feud could've had such a better ending, with J.B.L. gaining the victory another way. Oh well I suppose, take what you can get, and short of something outrageously shocking and completely stupid happening, I don't see Cena having a shot in hell of not getting busted open Sunday.

Meanwhile, Umaga & Jeff Hardy are going to have a W.W.E. version of Abyss & Jeff Hardy, with Hardy very likely picking up the victory. IF, Hardy loses, what would be the point of ever pushing him again? Umaga is so far gone into jobber-hood, that having him suddenly defeat Hardy won't help him, so much as hurt Hardy.

William Regal's wellness violation could very well be Paul Burchill's gain! Burchill made the first strike in the war on Kennedy, and it was a nicely done one at that. I was just as excited for this to happen, as I was seeing TD2 debuting. They tie on tonight's greatest moments chart.

H.H.H. & Orton have absolutely NO build going into Sunday, which is funny and pathetic all in one. Their lead-up was a face to face debate, in which neither man actually hit the other. What the hell was that?

Jericho needs to pick a character design and stick to it. Face, Tweener, Heel, Tweener, Face, Heel, seriously.. I'm almost sure when he agreed to return to wrestling, it wasn't in the books for him to be used as if hes a fucking ****** who doesn't understand whether he wants to be a rule follower, or breaker. Meanwhile, is the result of tonight's assault on H.B.K. going to cause Shawn to go into One Night Stand, less than 100%? Or will Jericho v. Batista happen on Smackdown, with Jericho doing the same thing to Tista?

Finally, the draft has been announced. The one thing that is almost a yearly event anymore, has finally been revealed. (Its getting later and later in the year, each time it seems) However apparently it was suppose to be over-shadowed by McMahon apparently wanting to give away a Million dollars. I said it before, I'll say it again. I think its stupid just because regardless of it being real or fake.. the only way everyone will think its NOT a scripted ploy to get you to tune in.. is if THEY actually win the money.

I'm 99.9% sure that I won't be winning a single dollar of the million he's giving away. If I do, I'll be the first to apologize and go ape shit over it being true. But until that miracle occurs, I'll lay firm in my theory of it being no more real, than the "Raw Fan Nation" which consists of the Sign Guy thats suddenly at every televised event, it seems. A former diva search loser, and the rest are either Dentists, Doctors, Detectives, or any other number of "highly successful career individuals" who do NOT make out the roughly billion fan base that wrestling holds.

In the end, I rate Raw a 10 outta 10, because tonight was outragely awesome and with the down play of the ending, everything else was out of control and the way EVERY Monday Night should be!

I find it interesting that previous posters liked the 5/26 raw, because I found it incredibly boring and pointless. It took almost half an hour to get to a match, and even then, it was only a women's match.

Every once in a while, the company throws out a RAW that is more talking, promos, and filler than matches. And every time they do, the overall show becomes boring and slow, and suffers. This episode was one of those.

The HHH vs. Orton promo was predictable and dull, and took way too long. These 2 didn't really say anything that they haven't said before. And of course HHH had to get the last word in. It wouldn't surprise me if this whole promo was HHH's idea just to build himself up even more. Similarly, it wouldn't surprise me if the whole reason we're doing a last man standing is so that he will have a win over orton in this type of match instead of a loss. And it will give him an excuse to do that stupid "flexing while looking like some sort of roaring beast" post-match pose over orton's unconscious body.

The whole piper/santino/cousin sal thing is beyond stupid. santino is a funny character, but it's obvious that creative doesn't have anything for him at the moment. we all know that eventually this santino/sal match is going to be nothing more than piper getting involved and turning a humorous stint at santino's expense. yawn.

another promo of cryme time stealing pictures in the office? they really need to go somewhere else with these guys. the "money money, yeah yeah" wore out their welcome a long time ago. I also found the backstage segments with mcmahon talking with various wrestlers to be dull...except for JBL just staring down and sneering at mickie james. that was amusing.

the dibiase introduction was cool and i already like him. but he's going after tag team titles? and specifically putting rhodes on notice? what a waste. either rhodes or dibiase will come out on top (guess which one) and the other will get buried. but then again, tag teams on raw tend to get buried anyway. only if rhodes turns on holly and joins forces with dibiase will this have potential. otherwise, it's a waste of time.

the matches in general were ok, but not really all that interesting and didn't really go anywhere. i guess that's what happens on nights that you have to trim down on matches in order to make time for all the promos.

Amy’s ‘take’ on Smackdown 05/30/08 edition:

Backstage: Edge announced he would show highlights of the Undertaker’s storied career throughout the show and Taker would be a first-time guest on The Cutting Edge. He said tonight would be Taker’s final Smackdown appearance.

Here we go again. This sounds awfully familiar. Remember Edge’s video and ceremony burying Taker’s undefeated streak two months ago and then he lost at Mania. So tonight Edge will present himself in the best light while mocking Taker only to lose again on Sunday at One Night Stand.:disappointed: I guess history does repeat itself.

Batista Promo: After the opening video, Tista came out in his Sunday best (his pissed-off gay biker twin must've had the night off). He said that while he’s a man of few words, he is a man of his word and promised to hurt Shawn Michaels at ONS. Tista acknowledged that some people might not like that but hopes we can forgive him. Just as Tista said he intends to challenge the winner of the TLC match, Vicki and the Edgeheads interrupted.

She put a halt to his future WHC ambitions, saying he may not even be on Smackdown pending the upcoming draft in four weeks. Vicki said his words mean nothing if he loses to HBK on Sunday and if he loses it will reflect badly on Smackdown and her. Tista said his match with Shawn isn’t about the different brands or her as the GM. He suggested she spend her time worrying about her ‘man’ Edge being drafted and the beating Taker’s going to deliver Sunday.

Hawkins took the mic and reminded Tista he’s talking to the GM and she deserves his respect. He told Tista to shut his mouth and Tista invited him to come shut it for him. Vicki put on the breaks and made a tag team match for later in the night in which Hawkins and Ryder will face Batista and the partner of his choice.

Match #1 Matt Hardy vs. Elijah Burke (non-title): Solid 5-minute opening match. Nice back and forth action and an ending sequence with Hardy countering a backslide into the Side Effect, Burke countering a bulldog, then Hardy hitting the Twist of Fate for the win.

Wow, Elijah Burke on TV two weeks in a row!?! Somebody must have spiked the water cooler at WWE Headquarters. Although he didn’t really get to show his athleticism and while I miss the cocky (not this serious-looking) Burke, I’m just glad they are finally using him and hope it continues.

Backstage: MVP told Eve they should be talking about him – the most talented member of the Smackdown roster whose skills are being wasted thanks to moronic decision-making (*cough*Vicki*cough*). Jamie Noble interrupted MVP’s interview segment to point out he’s making excuses and blaming everyone else for his problems, just like Noble’s done in the past. MVP said he is nothing like Noble; he’s half-man half-amazing whereas Noble is barely half a man. Noble took offense at MVP’s short joke; he was only trying to offer some advice to keep MVP from flushing away his career. MVP didn’t need Noble’s advice and told him to step then Noble really got in MVP’s face. MVP ‘talked’ himself into a match with Noble who went to work out the details with Vicki.

It’s always good to see Noble on TV. Both he and MVP are funny. Nice segment setting up their match later. But oh how the mighty have fallen…MVP looked poised to ascend into the main event realm and now he’s reduced to sparring with Jamie Noble (no offense to Noble).

Match #2 Finlay (w/ Hornswoggle) vs. Chuck Palumbo: This re-match featured much of the same back and forth, hard fought action from last week. Again Palumbo was the aggressor and looked dominant while selling a shoulder injury from early in the match when Finlay sent him into the ring post. When they took the fight to the outside, Palumbo started after Horny but instead got a chain from his bike and used it on Finlay who won via DQ.

Decent match that I found more enjoyable than last week for two reasons: (1) it was short (under 5 minutes whereas last week was twice as long and I like my Palumbo in short doses) and (2) we were spared Horny’s antics and Finlay using the shillelagh. I think it’s safe to say we’re in store for more matches between these two. The most memorable thing wasn’t anything concerning the match but the fact that Palumbo came out wearing a hat like Slash from Guns N’ Roses. I guess the biker gimmick isn’t enough anymore, so they’re going to turn him into a rocker now. Note to WWE: we still won't care about the guy.

Backstage: Jamie Noble interrupted Vicki and the Edgeheads. He asked for a match with MVP. A perturbed Vicki quickly agreed, however Noble kept running on at the mouth about being called half a man. Again Vicki said the match was on. He then questioned whether she was setting him up (a reasonable concern given Jamie’s history with Vicki). She assured him and, in chorus with the Edgeheads, told him to "Get Out!"

Match #3 John Morrison vs. CM Punk: The Miz accompanied Morrison to the ring. The two were doing a lot of talking before the bell and the ref ordered The Miz backstage when he wouldn’t get off the apron. I’m still not sure what that was all about or what purpose it served. With Morrison’s back turned, Punk went for a quick roll-up right away. What’s with Punk going for the win right off the bat lately? Pretty even contest at the start, however it soon turned into the Punk show. Morrison got in very little offense. Punk awkwardly positioned Morrison and hit a sloppy-looking GTS for the pinfall.

I’m annoyed and disappointed with this match for several reasons: (1) it was way too short (3 minutes), (2) it discredits the good matches they’ve had in the past, and (3) Punk easily going over Morrison just isn’t believable. Whoever booked this match should be suspended or better yet outright fired. Punk’s been getting ‘punked’ (pun intended), losing to everybody and his mama, since he won MITB two months ago while they had begun pushing Morrison recently. That loss just set back any momentum that he was building. Here’s an analogy: since Chavo’s continues to get the better of Punk yet Morrison lost to Punk tonight, the logic would follow that Chavo > Punk > Morrison. Whatever.

Match #4 Batista & Big Show vs. Curt Hawkins & Zach Ryder: Tista came to the ring and said he didn’t need a partner. The Edgeheads wheeled Vicki onto the ramp and she gloated Tista was in store for a handicap match. Tista corrected her, saying just because he didn’t need a partner didn’t mean he didn’t have one. Big Show’s music hit and he wheeled a surprised Vicki backstage then came to the ring. Tista and Show seemed to have a nice camaraderie and took turns overpowering Hawkins and Ryder. Some nice loud chops by Show. For the finish, Tista delivered the Batista Bomb to Ryder and scored the pinfall while Show was chokeslamming Hawkins. This was a fun 3-minute squash.

Backstage: A trainer was looking at Cherry’s healing black eye. Maryse interrupted saying she needs her ankle looked at as she hurt it last week kicking Cherry in the face. Geez, that segment felt like really bad high school theatre.

Match #5 MVP vs. Jamie Noble: MVP went on the aggressive early, throwing Noble into a turnbuckle then delivering punches to his mid-section while he had him in an abdominal stretch. Noble avoided MVP’s famous kick and landed a few kicks and what Foley called an upside-down back splash. MVP dropped Noble across the top rope then finished him off with the kick to the head for the pinfall.

Both guys are capable of good matches and delivered here as I expected, however I’d like to have seen it go longer than four minutes. Sure MVP needed a win in the worst way, but going over Noble isn’t really that much of a career boost. I hope this was a one-time match-up and we’re not in store for a feud between these two as that would be a serious step back for MVP.

Match #6 Shannon Moore vs. Vladimir Kozlov
: They stole my idea as I so predicted this match-up in last week’s review. Now if only I could predict winning lottery numbers…;) Kozlov squashed Moore in 1½ minutes. My magic 8-ball says Jimmy Wang Yang gets job duty next week against Kozlov.

Match #7 Michelle McCool vs. Maryse (with Deuce & Domino): Pretty good divas match. My only complaint is it was short (just 2 minutes). I haven’t seen enough of wrestling Maryse to make up my mind on her, but she seems to have potential. Nice chopblock and single leg Boston Crab by Maryse. Cherry’s music hit and she came onto the ramp. McCool used the distraction and made Maryse submit to the heel hook. Whatever happened to her ‘Wings of Love’ finisher?

The Cutting Edge: Edge stated that for a year now he and Taker have been battling over the WHC title, which was suspended from the ceiling above a ladder, and this Sunday their feud has to end. He ran down the agreed upon stipulations of the TLC match: the winner will climb the ladder and pull down the belt and if Taker loses he is banished from the entire WWE, so no going away for four weeks to be drafted to another brand.

Edge said his confidence comes from experience. He showed highlights of Taker’s TLC matches, but it was a just blank black screen since Taker has never been in a TLC match. Then he introduced a cheesy Indiana Jones-esque video tribute to himself – the man who set the standard for, cemented his legacy in, and defined TLC matches. Then he introduced Taker – the man whose career is over come Sunday. Taker came out and Edge ordered La Familia bring a casket to ringside to make Taker feel at home.

Taker went after Edge but soon fell victim to the numbers game. He fended off Hawkins, Ryder, and Bam and went to chokeslam Chavo onto the casket, but Edge hit him with a chair from behind. Edge delivered more chair shots and rolled Taker into the casket. Edge climbed the ladder and said it symbolized him becoming the new WHC again. The bell tolled and the lights went out. When they came back on, Edge and Taker stood facing off on the ladder. Taker powerbombed Ryder through a table in the ring while Edge got away.

It was a good segment as the last build for their TLC match Sunday, but it wasn’t anything ‘great’ or anything we haven’t seen before in recent months.

Overall Thoughts: The matches were little more than squashes. There really wasn’t a defining Match Of The Night as they were all pretty lackluster. Technically, the divas match would be the ME match…whose bright idea was that? Other than the Taker-Edge and MVP-Noble stuff, this was just another dud show IMHO.

Amy’s ‘take’ on Smackdown 06/06/08 edition:

Opening Segment: Following a ONS video recap of Edge defeating Taker, Vicki, Chavo, Bam, Ryder, and Hawkins were in the ring drinking champagne. Amidst loud boos and ‘you suck’ chants, Vicki finally introduced Edge as the man responsible for banishing the Undertaker and the new WHC.

Edge joined La Familia. He started with hugs for the guys and a big kiss for Vicki then went on to thank them all. Edge congratulated himself for doing something no one else could – ending Taker’s career. In fact, he said Taker should thank him for allowing him to leave with some dignity, having lost to the TLC master and one of the greatest superstar ever. If Taker had won, Edge said he’d have chased and beaten him down, leaving him a pathetic shell of a man. Edge offered a toast and said may the Deadman rest in peace then the lights went out. (Oh snap! Could it be?) When they came back on, Edge said ‘Gotcha’ and they all had a good laugh.

Edge looked at Vicki and said that when something dies, something else blossoms. She announced their marriage in 5 weeks on July 11th on Smackdown. La Familia poured champagne over Edge’s head like he’d just won the Stanley Cup.

Batista’s music hit. Immediately, Vicki yelled at him. He said he only wanted to know why he wasn’t invited to the party…he’s a big party animal, ya know. Then he offered his most sincere wishes to the happy couple as they truly deserve each other.:lmao: Tista said he was only kidding; he can’t stand them and hopes they’re miserable. He came to make good on his promise to challenge the TLC winner for the WHC.

Vicki said if he wants a title match, he has to earn it. She made an 8-man tag match for later pitting Edge, Chavo, Hawkins, and Ryder against Tista and three partners of HER choosing. Edge told Tista if he didn’t win, he’d never get another title match against him.

Kudos to all for a really strong opening segment. I loved the joke Edge played with the lights, had even me going for a second there. So all is right with the world again as Edge and La Familia are stronger than ever. Anyone else notice the happy couple wearing matching red? Edge busted out the cheesy Jerry McGuire ‘You complete me’ line – now that was priceless, lol. Tista gave a much stronger promo than he has recently; as I said, he just doesn’t seem ‘serious’ when he’s not in a WHC storyline. And who will GM Vicki pick as his three partners? The kid and me predicted Delaney, Nunzio, and Funaki, ya know your weakling jobbers so Tista will be at a huge disadvantage.

Match #1 Finlay (w/Hornswoggle) vs. Chuck Palumbo (Belfast Brawl): Given this was a Belfast Brawl, you’d expect the third match in their feud to be better than the first two. Not! This 4-minute match was pretty meh. Horny and Finlay were back to their antics again. Before the bell, Horny hopped on the back of Palumbo’s bike but Palumbo chased him away. Daddy came to rescue and got in a few shots. Finally in the ring, the bell rang and Palumbo ducked out right away. Finlay followed and the two brawled at ringside. Palumbo threw Finlay into the steps then brought a trashcan in the ring, but Finlay took advantage of it with a low dropkick then a drop toehold. Finlay brought in another trashcan and hit Palumbo with it a couple of times. Finlay tossed Palumbo outside and they brawled again ringside. Nice overhead belly-belly suplex on the floor by Palumbo. Back in the ring, Finlay was setting up to use the shillelagh but Palumbo landed the big boot. He got the chain off his bike, but Horny hit him with a low blow then Finlay hit him with the chain for the pinfall.
 • Shot of MVP in suit-and-tie sitting in the skybox.
Big Show Promo: Ouch, his eye looked rough. I loved the America’s Next Top Model line (interesting plug for another CW show when they’re leaving the network in a few months). He started talking about how the Singapore Can match at ONS was a challenge and now he’s onto an even bigger challenge – Kane – when Mark Henry interrupted. He referenced Show telling him to pick on someone his size a few weeks back then joked that Show put himself in a match with canes. He made fun of Show’s appearance, showing video of the eye injury and him getting stitches. He said he doesn’t look like championship material. Show said even with one eye he can see Henry’s full of BS and there was nothing between them but air and opportunity. He inhaled so there went the air. Henry started toward the ring then changed his mind, laughed, and walked away.

Both Show and Henry were funny in that exchange, but it just didn’t do anything for me. We’ve seen them before and it wasn’t anything special; we don’t need to go there again. Show showed up on Smackdown to talk about Kane, yet he couldn’t turn up on ECW (which was taped the same night) to address the ECW champion himself.:headscratch: I don’t get that. Waste of time segment IMO.

Backstage: Roddy ‘Rowdy’ Piper and Cousin Sal were getting pumped for Sal’s match against Santino.

Match #2 Deuce and Domino vs. The Great Khali: At first, I was trying to figure out who D&D were going to face in a 2-on-1 handicap then Khali’s music hit. No, no, no. Say it ain’t so. I thought I was Khali-free for a few more months. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Suckdown portion of the show. Khali squashed D&D in under 2 minutes.

Backstage: Vicki told the divas (Victoria, Natalya, Cherry, Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool, Layla, and Maryse) that she is a pioneer in a man’s business just like the Fabulous Moolah and she’s disappointed her show doesn’t have a women’s title. She said they’re in LA, the place where dreams come true, so tonight there will be a Golden Dreams Match to determine the first challenger to the NEW and first ever WWE Divas Championship.

Are they really going to call it the ‘Divas’ Championship? Ugh. I guess it was only a matter of time before we got two women’s titles considering Raw and Smackdown each have their own heavyweight, mid-card, and tag titles. I’m ok with that, just give it a better name please!

Match #3 Santino Marella vs. Cousin Sal (w/ Roddy ‘Rowdy’ Piper & Jimmy Kimmel): Santino offered his hand, Sal went for it, Santino pulled it away…nice. Santino awkwardly took down Sal then showed off his muscles, lol. Sal applied a side headlock, hit Santino with a forearm, an airplane spin, and a suplex. WOW for a guy who’s not an athlete, looks like the Pillsbury doughboy, and only had maybe three weeks of training with an over-the-hill and equally out-of-shape Piper. Santino fought back but was tripped up by Kimmel, allowing Sal to roll him up for the win. Santino hit Sal post-match and started after Kimmel but Piper took Santino out. The three celebrated.

At least it was over quickly (under 4 minutes). So this must be part of Santino’s punishment for the DUI. It’s bad enough they stink up Raw with this crap. Why oh why do we have to do it on Smackdown, the ‘wrestling’ show?:disappointed:
 • Another shot of MVP in the skybox. I wonder where this is going. Possible draft to Raw, feud with Edge, or face-turn even?
Backstage: Eve tried to interview Sal about his match. Kimmel wouldn’t let Sal get a word in, speaking for him. He said Sal feels really good, he’s very proud, he gave 110%, and his next opponent is Big Show. Sal, who’d been talked into one match already, had enough and took Kimmel down. Show came in and picked Sal up and took him away.

Umm. Yeah. Okay. Whatever. That segment was more pointless and less entertaining than the match moments before. I had to restrain myself from hurtling the remote at the TV at this point.

Backstage: Miz and Morrison were picking on Horny, playing keep away with his hat. Daddy to the rescue again. They instantly gave his hat back and said they were just playing. Morrison said it’s LA and they have celebrities to go hang with. Horny sprayed them with a water gun and Finlay chided his son for playing with those guys.

Wow, another completely pointless and not even entertaining segment.

Backstage: La Familia minus Vicki were talking about being good to go tonight. The others left while Edge pulled Chavo aside to ask him to be his best man. Chavo accepted then Edge started talking about the children he and Vicki will have. Edge hugged Chavo who looked unhappy about the prospect of Edge being his uncle and having cousins.

Geez, enough with the backstage segments already. At least this one had a point and was mildly interesting.

Match #4 Kelly Kelly vs. Layla vs. Maryse vs. Cherry vs. Natalya vs. Victoria vs. Michelle McCool (Golden Dreams Match)
: There was a pole in one corner with a gold star attached…they’re not only stealing my ideas but they’re borrowing a page from TNA’s book now. Action was fast paced and there were a lot of bodies in the ring at once. Maryse was the first to go for the star. Cherry stopped her and the two went at it. Cherry went for the star next. Victoria stopped her then went for the star herself. She was dissuaded by Kelly and her best gal pal Natalya. McCool and Natalya cleared the ring. I thought we were in store for some good wrestling then, but McCool quickly got rid of Natalya with a kick to the mid-section. McCool went for the star multiple times, being stopped by Maryse, Layla, and Victoria. Sweet spot when Natalya powerbombed Victoria who simultaneously suplexed McCool from the top rope. Natalya grabbed the star and becomes the first challenger to the new ‘Divas’ title.

My only complaint is the match was way too short (under 3 minutes) and light wrestling-wise.

Match #5 Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Vladimir Kozlov: Okay WWE, quit stealing my ideas or put me on the payroll already. Again, I predicted this match-up in last week’s review. Kozlov squashed Yang in 2 minutes although Yang got in a little more offense than anyone else has. To date, this is my favorite squash after the Delaney one. My Ouija board is uncertain as to Kozlov’s next opponent. He’s already gone through so many. I’ll go out on a limb and say Matt Sydal.

Backstage: Eve interviewed Tista about not knowing who his partners would be. He said he knew what he was up against and plans to dismember Edge when he gets his hands on him.

Not one of Tista’s finer mic moments. He was pretty bland. In his defense though, whoever wrote that crap gets 5 demerits.

Match #6 Edge, Chavo Guerrero, Curt Hawkins, & Zach Ryder vs. Batista, Nunzio, Funaki, & Colin Delaney (8-man tag match): Ah, so the kid and my predictions came to fruition. A 4-on-1 handicap match would’ve served the same purpose. Tista started with Ryder who took a few shots then quickly tagged to Chavo. Tista dominated him then gave Colin the tag, throwing him onto Chavo for a 2-count. We went to commercial break with Colin beating on Chavo. When we return, Hawkins was in control of Colin. Hawkins, Ryder, Chavo, and Edge took turns working over Delaney. Edge took Tista out on the apron then forced a tag to Funaki. Edge, Chavo, Hawkins, and Ryder then worked over Funaki. Ryder missed a corner charge and Funaki got the hot tag to Tista. He went for the Batista Bomb but Edge and crew hit the ring only to be cleared by Tista’s partners. Tista double speared Hawkins and Chavo, hit a spine buster on Edge, and Batista Bombed Ryder for the win.

Overall Thoughts: Disappointing post-ONS show with fewer and poorer quality matches than usual and they were all too short (except for the main event). I honestly can’t pick a match of the night because there wasn’t one. There were way too many pointless backstage segments. At times, it felt like I was watching an episode of Impact but without any good wrestling action.

TheOneBigWill's 'take' on Monday Night Raw: June 9th, 2008:

Opening Segment: Mr. McMahon makes his way out onto the stage as the fans in attendance suddenly erupt with cheers. Before we can start, we need to introduce the special guest of the night.. THE MONEY! (of course it gets more air time than anyone on the E.C.W. Roster, half the Smackdown roster, or anyone on Raw that used to be in a Tag Team) McMahon quickly asks for the code word of the night, the code word was WWE Universe. Because apparently he wants to establish just what he feels his company is, over everything else.

McMahon quickly gets things rolling by explaining how things will work, and he states the first call will be directly following the opening contest. This leads to the opening match.

The Matches:

1. Mr. Kennedy v. Paul Burchill w/ Katie Lea: Could this of been anymore of a let down? I have to be completely honest, I don't get overly excited for much regarding wrestling anymore.. but lately Raw has left me wanting more of a few things, this feud being one of them. So, how does W.W.E. keep me interested in it?

Mr. Kennedy picks up the victory, after a 4-5 minute brawl-fest in which the guy who SHOULD be more of a brawler than Kennedy, gets cleanly and clearly over powered and out brawled. All of this leads to a clean victory, in which they could've at least had Katie Lea grab the official. (I thought she honestly was, then she didn't) So, they've built a great angle with this feud, and leading into this televised match what do they do wrong? They let the face get the first victory, with next to NO offense from the heel.. congrats on fucking up yet another possibly great feud.

The only saving grace of this, that leads to another match (possibly next week) is that after the match, Lea slapped Kennedy, then Burchill connects with his *NEW* finisher. (The Twisted Sister :lmao: Seriously, thats what its called)

2. Mickie James v. Beth Phoenix: Another average at best, and incredibly short match. While I do admit I'm utterly tired of seeing these two wrestle, the fact that both of them can is still something worth watching if they're gonna have Women's matches. James barely gets any offense off, and Phoenix still looks like she's a modern day Chyna to James' modern day average diva. Mickie wins with a top rope press into a pin.

After the match, Melina comes out from the back and takes it to Beth, just completely destroying her. (Mickie should take notes instead of ****ing herself out to Cena, since they're doing this whole "Friends w/ Benefits" angle) Melina absolutely fucked Beth up and left her for dead. Now THAT was downright entertaining to see a barely 100 pound Woman downright beat the piss outta a Woman thats likely topping 150 or more and has the power advantage.

3. John Cena v. J.B.L.: We get the point, J.B.L. will NEVER defeat Cena in a single's match, ever, even if its pointless. QUIT MATCHING THEM UP! Seriously, Triple H. was at ringside and even with J.B.L. winning it would've ultimately meant nothing, yet they still for the life of them can't give the guy a break, or a victory.

This match was just like any other, with Cena controlling the offense with exception to whenever he got distracted by Triple H. Then J.B.L. took over and dominated for a while. J.B.L. hits his finisher, but Cena found the ropes, then "Hogan'd" back. In the end, Cena gets another "fluke" roll-up, in which he wins the match and J.B.L. is yet again left in the dark on why he can't win against this guy.

After the match, Triple H. stood on the announcer's table, posing with Cena's Championship. Cena gets up as both men look face to face once again. H.H.H. got down, then quickly trips Cena and storms off to the back.

4. Umaga & Snitsky v. Cody Rhodes & Hardcore Holly: As the Tag Team Champions continue to disagree and not remain on the same page, we see their opponents are clearly the two biggest, baddest, once upon a time top of the mountain monsters there were in the W.W.E. I love how Umaga & Snitsky were suppose to be seen as "underdogs" to the "Champs" when either guy (Umaga or Snitsky) in a handicap match could've likely killed Rhodes & Holly.

Misunderstanding between the Champs left them trying to do different moves at the same time. This ended up leading to Rhodes taking a Samoan Spike, while Holly didn't have the strength or energy to stop the pin. Umaga & Snitsky pick up the victory.

5. Cryme Tyme v. Santino Marella & Carlito: Did we really just get two Tag Team matches back to back? Furthermore, did we truly just get two Tag Team matches that in a day's time won't mean shit? Santino apparently has short term memory loss, as he seemed uneffected to losing to a guy that is apparently in some cultures considered a "celeb." Carlito looked embarassed to even be seem with him. (apparently Carlito has a learning disability, as hes clearly slow)

In the end, Cryme Tyme pick up the victory, as Santino takes yet another loss. With this loss in the books, I'm pretty sure the Santino/Carlito push is well passed over.

Promos/Segments:

Triple H./John Cena: In the back, prior to the J.B.L./Cena match, Triple H. and Cena are conversing over how this match isn't personal, or anything of the sort. Its only about finding out who's the best. (nothing big, I mean, H.H.H. has placed yet another seed in Steph, so hes well on his way to making sure his spot is never taken) Cena reminds H.H.H. that in their Wrestlemania match, it was Cena who was the best. H.H.H. gets a little annoyed and reminds Cena that it was over 2 years ago. That was then, this is now. And now, Triple H. has the Championship. (dispite it still being Cena's original self-made one, minus the ability to spin.. because we all know.. white people, excluding Cena & Edge, can't spin)

J.B.L.: Bradshaw is unimpressed with the McMahon Money give-away. (join the f*cking club buddy) He feels that noone deserves Mr. McMahon's money, however he said John Cena will deserve everything he'll give him tonight. (Ironically, Cena won.. which means apparently he deserved to. haha funny)

Highlight Reel: Jericho/Shawn Michaels: Chris Jericho quickly sucks some H.B.K. ass by explaining that as a child, H.B.K. was who he looked up to. Shawn Michaels was who inspired him, and his hero. Today, he feels Shawn is a great mentor and even a best friend. He introduces H.B.K.

As Shawn comes out, he doesn't seem as if 8 days prior he got the holy shit beat outta him. Sure, he mouths the words "ouch" and "owwe" but come on.. I'm sure they were about as real as me typing them. I'm sure he could've faked it better than that, I mean, that is his thing lately. I guess you could say.. he "Botchtista'd" selling the injuries.

As both men stand in the ring, Jericho does a bit more ass kissing, before Shawn cuts him off and asks if this is going anywhere with a question. Jericho quickly explains it is, then he rambles a bit more about trying to claims Shawn Michaels lied to everyone about faking an injury. Shawn claims that "technically" he only lied to Jericho. (Uhm, no I'm pretty sure he lied to the world when on the Highlight Reel with the award and the injury, he clearly said "I'm hurt" and he was refering to everyone, only saying it through Jericho) Its okay though.. look, I thought this might happen.. so I brought a clip. Roll it.

And thats that. Anyways, going back to this Monday. Jericho quickly changed his tune, saying that the question he had for Shawn is how he doesn't understand that regardless of what H.B.K. does, be it lying to the world about a fake knee injury, or being the good guy.. he always gets cheered for his actions. Meanwhile, Jericho, regardless of trying to be the good guy and NOT blasting H.B.K. or J.B.L. in the head with chairs, or trying to do the right thing by pointing out the truth.. he gets booed. So Jericho wants to know mainly, how Shawn went from being so great, to turning into a lying, cheating pathetic person. And this leads to a final clear cut indication that Chris Jericho is indeed now HEEL!

Jericho attacks Shawn, and makes sure that he understands the old saying of "what comes around, goes around" as this time its H.B.K's head slamming hard through a version of glass. (Somewhere in a crack house, Marty Jannetty half way smiled between delusions) Jericho leaves the ring, as H.B.K. (without any cuts) is being attended to as if his eyes were suddenly butchered with the television screen pieces.

Ted DiBiase Jr.: In continuing with somewhat ruining a good angle.. Upon this man's debut, I absolutely went nuts over the tagline. I went crazy with excitement over how great it was. Now I believe its time for him to figure out how to ADD to promos. Otherwise, he'll quickly become the white version of Ron Simmons.. instead of saying "Damn" it'll be "Priceless."

At any rate, he cuts a promo explaining that dispite the Tag Team Champions losing to Umaga & Snitsky (which in old school years, would've made them next in line for a title match) he explains that his debut match will be at Night of Champions, with a "Partner of his choosing" as they challenge for the Tag Team Championships. (How does someone just debut and become instantly a number one contender? I mean sure Santino was picked outta the crowd and fluke won with help.. but its rare that you can debut and just have your first match BE for a Championship.. well, without the Champion wanting you to have that shot, that is)

McMahon's Million Dollar Mania: I'm not even going to dignify the entire group of mini segments. "I" didn't win, so its still "rigged" and "fake" to me. Unless someone from this site claims to be one of those who won. None the less.. I'm pretty sure I explained earlier how I felt it was fake from the beginning, but lets just go through the flaws in tonight's plan.

First, for those who actually read the instructions, including the cash prizes, you would've seen that he literally PLANNED to give away $2.00, then another couple of random figures. Yet on tonight's Raw, he claimed he was giving away $2.00 because of a "spur of the moment" decision, in which it was based on how much he felt Jillian & Trevor's singing session was. He also gave away another random amount that was compared (apparently) to the figures of Lillian. So I ask you.. if its not pre-rigged, then how'd he explain WHAT the figures that would be given away were, if he "just came up with them."

I'm not even going to go into the issues with the phone, especially the first call in which he only dialed 9-10 numbers and unless his phone doesn't require you to dial "1" first.. which he dialed 11 the rest of the night.. then I'm pretty sure they were also "fixed calls."

Lets continue with the theory of it being "rigged." Not ONE of those individuals seemed the least bit "shocked" or "surprised" it was him on the other end of the phone. Only ONE GUY actually cussed to the point of it being bleeped. And that was pretty late in the show, so I'm assuming he was told to prehand. I mean seriously.. I'm about as mature as they come, but if my phone literally rang, and upon answering I heard McMahon say "This is Mr. McMahon and the W.W.E." I'd quite honestly probably be like "OH MY GOD, ARE YOU SHITTING ME?! I THOUGHT THIS WAS FAKE! FUCK YEAH! WWE UNIVERSE!!!! HOW FUCKING MUCH AM I GETTING?!" I mean, maybe I'd be a little more "adult" about the situation.. but still.. I'd be shocked and I'm sure I'd give that much away in excitement for winning money. (except $2.00 - I would've downright told him to shove that up his ass and then explained he just paid for me to start watching T.N.A.)

So, in the end, we found out he'll be giving away yet another million next Monday. So once again I preassume NOT to win, and once again I preassume the show will be shit, because it'll focus on giving away money to random people.. at which point everyone else watching will likely still either see it as A.) Not real or B.) Not caring enough to spend all that time listening to phone conversations with relaxed winners. -- Which, I will promise you this much. I guarantee next week, we get at least one, if not more, "shocked and surprised" winners. I'm sure it'll be in the meeting that people on the phones didn't seem "surprised" to get the call.

Main Event: Triple H. v. Jeff Hardy: So this is the Main Event, yet it wasn't the last remaining thing on the show. Triple H. and Hardy evenly squared off, with both men seeming equal. Triple H. countered or moved out of the way of all Hardy's signature moves, while Hardy too most all of H.H.H.'s.

Toward the end of the match, while Cena was doing commentary, and Hardy got hip tossed into him. As the official was apparently counting quicker than The Flash, Hardy makes it back into the ring, while Cena pulls H.H.H. off the apron, and the official resumes his count, and Hardy wins via countout. Nothing overly special about this match, as it basically meant nothing. Well, almost nothing.

After the match was over, and to end the segment, Triple H. and John Cena were both glaring at each other, when out of nowhere Hardy lays them both out with a suicide dive over the ropes. I'm only curious if this will somehow become Jeff Hardy being added into the match, next week?

Overall Thoughts: I honestly can't wait to see the ratings. I'm banking on the fact that if they were so poor, McMahon will either do next week's and one after, or he'll stop completely after next week in general. Another thing I've been curious about.. I'm more than sure they have a way of seeing where the most viewers come from, such as what state, anyways. So I bet 10-1 that each phone call is made to someone in a highly viewed area.. which means if the winners WERE real, then they'd tell all their friends and bam.. higher ratings for as long as money is being randomly given away.

The one thing that sticks out the most to me, is not only was this an attempt to gain more viewers, or older viewers. It was an attempt to bring up their ratings. So, in doing this.. they're dropping the overall quality of what the show should truly be about. Which is building feuds, having great matches, and combining overall talent. The entire show revolved around ending matches quickly, so they could get to more random calls. Stupid promos in the ring, or on the stage, that lead to more random calls.. and half-assed segments that seemed rushed, all to get to yet more random calls.

So, in trying to "promote" the business by giving away the sum of a million dollars, I honestly believe if this shit goes on much longer they'll in turn be LOSING viewers because its greatly cutting into how the program is seen as a whole.

Regarding the Kennedy/Burchill feud, I agree with what someone on the main site said. How are you going to establish Burchill as even being capable of wrestling Kennedy on a somewhat sub-par to same level, when you have Burchill instantly lose? Sure, the face should win in the end 8 times outta 10.. but you don't let them dominate and pick up an instant victory on a television show. You have the match end in a no contest, or you have the heel cheat to win the meaningless match.

So the way I see it, the only saving point in this is if Burchill somehow picks up a Pay Per View victory, in which case would almost kill Kennedy's push because Burchill losing instantly on Raw threw him back into the trash with the rest of the jobbers. Note to creative.. when building a feud, don't have the heel look like he doesn't belong. At least let him destroy the face, and if hes losing, have the face "barely" get the win. Don't have the face completely destroy the heel, then win cleanly and have the only thing keeping the feud going on, is a cheap shot after the pointless match. Whats gonna happen next week, Burchill gets beat in under 3 minutes then hits Kennedy with a chair to see if he can come back and lose even quicker?

I'm still holding out hope to see a Mickie James, Beth Phoenix and Melina - Ladder match, at Night of Champions. Apparently Katie Lea is back to solely being with Paul, as she had nothing to do with the divas tonight. I'm happy with how Melina is being booked, but should she truly be beating the shit outta the most dominate diva they have? I'd think "hell cat" would be suitable, but not downright domination.

J.B.L. is becoming a quicker jobber than Umaga. He can't catch a break and needs to get the hell away from John Cena. This is hurting him as badly as the Taker storyline hurt Edge. One more loss to Cena, and J.B.L. won't even be capable of being viewed as Championship material, even if he has been a former long reigning Champion.

Meanwhile, the H.H.H./Cena feud has already started off like shit. I mean, both men are faces with Triple H. trying to take the "cool" advantage to going into the p.p.v. as the heel, yet hes still cheered for what he does. Could it be possible for once to listen to the fans and slightly agree? Cena gets booed completely, regardless if he follows the rules or not. So why not let him be the "tweener" going into the p.p.v.. it might make things a bit more interesting. Of course that'd mean Triple H. might have to look weak, and everyone knows we can't have that, now can we?

All in all, the first "McMahon Money Mania" is in the books, and I rate the overall show complete SHIT! I said from the beginning, the only way this type of situation is worth anything watchable, is if "we" win. If "we" aren't winning, then its just "us" watching phone transactions with people we aren't completely sure are even real, or staged. Whats the point, and more importantly, how on earth does it have anything to do with the long-term storyline of Raw and Professional Wrestling? Money is nice, I doubt anyone would turn free money down.. you'd be stupid to do so, but this is the stupidest thing to do, when you're trying to help promote your company by showing everyone why they should remain watching, long after the money is gone.

A word of advice? Run Raw regularly. Call people during commericals, not live on the air. Recap who won what when you come back. If you did it this way, I wouldn't have to get pissed off each time you randomly fucked up dialing a number, only to take 5-10 minutes away from the televised time to find out the number you did dial, isn't mine.

If I have to sit through another show like tonight's, in which I'm sure 40 minutes of it was used up entirely to talk with people on the phone, and have them say a password (that never changed from the start of the show, on) then I might just quit watching until they figure out the way to gain viewers isn't by giving away money to 4-5 people, but instead giving millions something enjoyable to watch.

Was I the only one who felt really kind of sad and embaressed for Mcmahon and the WWE?? Really. Is seemed like some hokey noon time game show. It was fucking terrible. Just laborious. That, and it seems like such a huge desperation move, him giving away MONEY to get people to watch. Sad.

What the fuck is going on with the tag titles. Goodness gracious. Umaga and Snitsky?? Whipped the brakes off them?? Serious?? Silly. The least they could do is make it somewhat of a suprise when Rhodes turns on him. You know, I was thinking last night, Rhodes would do fantastic as a cocky heel. He s a good looking young man, could be Orton- like I feel.

The rest of the night was stupid. I dont do RAW reveiws becuase its so weak, it gets nothing but apathy from me. Just felt the need to say how uncomfortable the entire Million Dollar give away thing was. Bad show, really. The Cena Trips build is pretty ass, although I see it only leading to bigger things later, even after NOC. So yea.

Gee Wizz, what a terrible show. Are WWE not aware that Raw is live in the UK. And by live I mean it's on 2-4.15 am. If I wasn't an insomniac I would have fallen asleep. Terrible show. Just awful. Not from an in fing standpoint. It was no better or worse than usual. But the McCahon Million Dollar Mania is awful. If only Vince had the foresight to have the numbers dialed while there was some in ring action taking place.

Did this show remind anybody else of the old Free For All shows? Where Todd Pettengill used to give away money before the PPV. Fine then. But on an actual show it's awful. How many segments of this were there? About 5-6, something like that. Each call got the same reaction. The whole thing could have been summed up in about 5 minutes. They should have done it as a press confrence. Then had highlights. Even then it would have been awful. There wasn't even any amusement to be had from the woman who recieved $2. Just terrible.

The one thing I did enjoy though was Triple H burying Hardy. Hardly any offence for Jeff at all. That's two times he's let him win, yet hasn't made him look impressive. The other being at Armageddon.

First off all i thought that raw last night was awful, not because of the match but because how much time the money mania contest took out of the show. The problem with this contest is that it'S only open to U.S. resident which means that if your watching raw outside the U.S, like i am, you're just watching Mr.Mcmahon giving away cash and fumbling with the telephone for absolutely not reason. Also the fact that the contest is presented as the most important thing on the show is plain stupid. Because of that i couldn'T cared less about all the storylines and feud that was going on during the broadcast because it was made to look like they weren'T important.

I know that this contest will continued for a little while but i hope they find a better way to give that money away because if it continued like this, i don't know how many people remember that there is a ppv coming up in a couple of weeks.

It was also the most anticlimatic show of all time. They have a match, like most the time. But instead of ending it there they go and have another money give away. Then the show ends. There's no real pleasure to be had from watching other people win large sums of money. I'm not sure how exactly fans are supposed to give a shit. It doesn't benefit then, nor is it entertaining. The problem being is that Raw is going to be like this for the next couple of weeks. It'll be all lazy booking until they do the draft, which is also always a crippling disappointment.

I'm determined that this Money Mania is rigged........................... I mean seriously, like BigWillie said, if McMahon calls me and says i just won $250,000 dollars, or even $100,000 then im going to go insane...................heck, if he called to say i got $2 then im goin to act up!!!! But the people who were called, acted like it happens everyday to them!!! As for Raw, i swear if they keep putting the stupid giveaway before actual matches and storylines, then im done watching Raw, period. I dont see hopw this is going to raise ratings AND KEEP THEM HIGH!!!!! not with sorry matches and lame storyline buildups..................Its pretty sad to see WWE go to these extrems, look so desperate, and so much talent, just they dont know how to be innovative at all!!!!

I love how the Money Mania was created to raise ratings yet I'm sure they're only going to drop. It takes up far too much of the show's time and I don't see why the fans should care anyways. Hell, the winners didn't even seem to care at all. I loved how the lady that won $2 didn't find it amusing at all. They really should have done it outside of RAW, and just shown the highlights.

The only good segment was the Highlight Reel. The rest of the show was pretty boring. I hated how the Money Mania concluded the show over the main event too.

You know that highlight reel was real good last night.Best part of the show. The main Event was real good to.I really enjoyed seeing Hardy take out both men after the match. That really made a satement to me.

In all honesty another lackluster RAW.And since it had a 3.0 rating I guess I am not the only one who thought so.Most of the matches sucked.I didn't think much about the money mania. It was boring.Seeing other people win money is boring.Nothing I'm really interested in.

And you would think Vince, with all the money he has, could buy a working phone.

that was one of the worst RAWs I've ever seen. only part that was at all useful was the Y2J/HBK segment since they've finally given Jericho's character a heel turn. and I'm already getting tired of DiBiase's dumb little segments. you throw on a pair of tights, come out and say the same thing every week to remind the fans that you're wrestling at Night of Champions. ya, we get it. simply priceless? more like simply Randy Orton's long lost brother.

I didnt see Raw, since I live here in Mexico, I get to see raw until the weekend, but I saw the hole Million dollar mania or whatever its called on youtube, and I gotta say this is about as fake and credible as Cenas wrestling skill...

Ur telling me, out of the thousands of thousands of people out there in the world, the very FIRST caller just happens to have a Rick Roll for his ringtone or whatever??... Are you KIDDING ME?! and not only that the guys didnt even sound excited, like all of uve said, I would have screamed of absolute excitement if I would have won 250 thousand dollars, hell I woud have flipped with 1000 dollars, but it goes:

-Hi there, whats ur name?
-Mr. Im faking this stuff up
-are you watching the show
-yeah
-do you know the code?
-yeah, its WWE universe
-congrats you have won 250, 000 dollars!
-awesome.

WTF IS THAT?!

What I find funny its that they did this for reatings, and the ratings are the same or worse... lol...

After that horrendous Raw, the rating came in at a 3.0.

After all this bs, the rating is even worse than the two past couple of weeks. What do you guys think Vince is going to do now? Maybe have a sex segment between a diva and a wrestler. Charlie Haas and Mae Young are great together

What do you expect? McMahon practically alienates alot of the WWE fans, and I am talking about the fans in Canada. You can say what you want but Canadian fans have been there for along time, after all they toured here very early and most likely before any other country. How come we could not be in that Million Dollar Mania?

Anyways, the stories have been poorly done. Although I am very happy that Jericho beat up HBK after the things he has done in the last couple of months. I mean he is able to superkick anybody and not get any boos. Well, now he can get some of that medicine back

TheOneBigWill's 'take' on Friday Night Smackdown: June 13th, 2008:

Opening Segment: The show opens with the lights completely turned off. The announcer addresses the Smackdown General Manager, Vickie Guerrero. As the lights come on, shes already in the ring (alone) on one side of a table. She explains that in a few weeks time, at Night of Champions it could be Batista v. Edge, for the World Heavyweight Championship. Edge has already signed the contract, so all thats left is Batista.

The Animal enters to a nice ovation. Vickie explains before he signs that shes made a couple changes. The first is, that in order for Batista to qualify in gaining a Championship opportunity, he must defeat one more person tonight.. The Great Khali. Batista doesn't show fear, and exclaims that hes done it before, he'll do it again. He quickly signs, and makes a smartass remark in saying the only thing uglier than how Edge's gonna look after Night of Champions, is the person hes gonna marry.

Batista leaves the ring, but is quickly interrupted by Vickie Guerrero. The Smackdown General Manager explains that Batista was in such a hurry, she wasn't finished explaining the changes she made to the contract. The second change was that if Batista did NOT win tonight's match, not only would he no longer be gaining the shot at the World Championship, but he (like the Undertaker) would be banished from the W.W.E. Batista isn't happy, but Vickie sits alone in the ring, smiling from ear to ear.

The Matches:

1. John Morrison (w/ The Miz) v. Finlay (w/ Hornswoggle): Nice back and forth match, Finlay got in his typical style of moves, including catching Morrison between the ring and the apron. Hornswoggle was also used as an illegal object, as Finlay lawn darted him at The Miz. In the end, it was John Morrison getting the roll-up on Finlay to earn the victory, after Finlay got distracted by The Miz, who was trying to pull Hornswoggle from underneath the ring.

The most disheartening issue about this match, was the announcers running their mouth's constantly about how apparently Finlay & Hornswoggle are a "team" to be "feared." Infact, they went on to claim apparently Finlay & Hornswoggle could become the next in line challengers, to face Miz & Morrison. (Are you fricken kidding me?!)

2. Mark Henry v. Tommy Dreamer: Your typical squash match. Dreamer got a couple shots in, but in the end he was no match for Mark Henry and the World's Strongest Slam. Henry picks up an easy victory, on his way to nothing.

3. Cherry v. Maryse: It wasn't that long ago, earlier today even, that I said I felt Cherry should just go because she didn't have the talent to stay in the league of wrestling divas that they currently had. I would like to ask someone to pass me something to coat my words with, so I can chew them now.

While Maryse is still a skinny pile of shit, poured into a pair of tight wrestling pants. Cherry in this match was actually quite impressive, and the one thing that stood out to me was her finisher. She used a hammerlock into a single arm DDT, which is a very unique finisher that noone else uses. Because of this, Cherry may have single handedly saved her wrestling career. Shes learning, and I fully apologize for assuming otherwise. (Shes still gaining more weight in her ass, than the Big Show at an all-you-can-eat diner though)

4. M.V.P. v. C.M. Punk: By far the longest match of the night, and I must say I'm not happy to have sat through the entire thing. M.V.P. is borderlining a "tweener" as his encounter with Vickie and Edge made him look like a face, yet his tactics against Punk still show him as a heel.

The match was definately above par for Punk's standards, but once again thats in part to M.V.P. carrying him, just like everyone else has in the past. The match, as long as it was, ended with a controversy. M.V.P. removed the top turnbuckle pad, as a result the official took his eyes off the action, to attempt replacing it.

M.V.P. took hold of the Money in the Bank case, only to receive Punk's knee into the case, into his face, knocking him out cold for a moment. The official turned around long enough to see Punk holding the case, and M.V.P. out in the ring. As a result, Punk (like normal) loses via DQ.

5. Matt Hardy v. Chuck Palumbo: While I'm not saddened by it, the match was rather quick. Matt Hardy and Palumbo went back and forth, with Palumbo getting a few good shots on the outside, but it was Matt who caught Palumbo in a twist of fate and picked up the victory to win the match.

Chavo Guerrero announced Matt Hardy as the winner of the match, and the loser of the United States Championship at Night of Champions.

6. Jesse & Festus v. Deuce N' Domino: Another seemingly quick match-up. I believe the Punk/M.V.P. contest ran over too long. Jesse took a major beating at the hands of both members of DnD, until he made the hot tag to Festus. Festus delivered an Earthquake like body splash to Domino, as he picked up the victory for his team.

In this contest, Jesse may have busted his nose, or some portion of his face above his nose from a very stiff and connecting thrust/jump kick from Deuce. Also, after the match was over, Deuce and Domino got into an argument that lead to Domino punching Deuce to the mat and the two getting into a little fight. Domino left the ring, clearly upset and walking away from his partner and friend. (Could NorCal get his wish?)

Promos/Segments:

Mark Henry: Henry showed a picture of Big Show's face and the black eye he received from One Night Stand. (I believe) Henry said that if the Big Show messes with him, his face will look worse than that.. and shows a picture of the Big Show with two black eyes. Not the greatest promo in the world, but its about as good as the match those two would have.

Edge/C.M. Punk: Edge is interviewed about his thoughts on if Batista loses. Edge attempts being nice in saying he hopes Batista doesn't lose, but incase he does thats why Edge put together a career highlight package for the Animal. This is all interrupted by C.M. Punk who simply wanted to express how much of a romantic he is, and that he wanted to wish Edge the best in his up-coming wedding.

He then went on to show his MITB case and explained to Edge, what he already knew, in which he could cash it in anywhere, anytime, on anyone. Even against Edge, for the World Heavyweight Championship, at his wedding.

Edge/M.V.P./Vickie: Edge, outraged at the Punk comment, explains to Vickie that they need to solve that issue. This is interrupted by M.V.P. wishing to redo his contract. Vickie wants to know why, and M.V.P. explains that he feels hes the best talent on Smackdown and hes not being used properly. Edge gets in M.V.P.'s face explaining that if hes so great, why doesn't he have a Championship. M.V.P. fires back with if he'd ever get the chance at Edge's title, he would have.

All of this leads to Vickie saying she'll think about redoing the contract, if M.V.P. can take care of C.M. Punk for them tonight.

Chavo Guerrero: Guerrero is standing in the ring, and announces that at Night of Champions, he'll face Matt Hardy for the United States Championship. The announcers are confused, and I'm unsure if the match is official. (I'm sure it will be) Matt Hardy comes out, also slightly confused as hes been going off the idea that until you beat him in a single's match, you don't deserve a title shot.

Apparently (as the announcers stated) when you're the World Champion's best man, and the G.M.'s nephew, you get selective things others normally don't. Such as U.S. Championship matches, at up-coming Pay Per Views.

Vladimir Kozlov: So apparently hes not even having squash matches now. He was asked in an interview how he would react to the opponents getting tougher in previous weeks as well as weeks to come. He replied in his native tongue, without any charisma, which is still better than half of C.M. Punk's interviews, then left.

So let me get this straight.. Shannon Moore is considered "tougher"?

Main Event: Batista v. The Great Khali: Wasn't Khali suppose to be out of action for a while? This was honestly one of the shortest leaves since Cena's injury. At any rate, the Main Event was a complete squash at the hands of Khali, with Batista finally hitting one offensive move, the spear, and winning the match.

With this said, Khali for as powerful as he is, must have a glass body to fall as easily to one move as he did. Edge was disheartened to see Batista win, and the show ends with a staredown from the ramp to the ring.

Overall Thoughts: Vickie Guerrero's heel heat is just outstanding. I mean people can hate her all they want, but as long as they continue to give her these types of ovations in such a negative manner, she'll be in that positive for a long, long time. I guarantee it. The only way she'll be replaced at this rate, is if people start paying her absolutely NO attention, or even quick watching the show. And while people run their mouth's about not watching anymore due to her.. obviously millions are still giving her the heat the W.W.E. loves.

John Morrison & The Miz against Finlay & Hornswoggle, for the Tag Team Championships. Do you realize what a win for Finlay & Hornswoggle would do? It would single-handedly destroy whats left of the Tag Team division. Why? Because of this..

Morrison & Miz defeated Kane & Punk recently. They've defeated every other team thats faced them. So for Finlay and a midget to finally be the two to win, it would single handedly say that Finlay and a midget are better than the E.C.W. World Heavyweight Champion and the current MITB holder, as well as every other Tag Team between Smackdown and E.C.W. Furthermore, if Morrison & Miz lose to a midget, it would single handedly kill whatever good run at a career they'd ever hope to have. This is downright embarassing, and while I'm sure it'll happen because the W.W.E. is fucked in the head like that.. it simply shouldn't.

Deuce N' Domino, Jesse & Festus, Hawkins & Ryder, etc, etc.. all of them deserve shots at the Tag Team Championships. Heel team v. Heel team or not, it should still be "team" versus "team" not "team" versus "comedy act."

I honestly like the idea of Matt Hardy against Chavo Guerrero. I feel both men are evenly matched, and while I don't see Chavo winning the fact is he has an outside chance to become United States Champion. When I think of this match, I think of how good matches with Rey Mysterio & Hardy were, or even Kidman & Hardy.. because of those, I feel this match has a hidden shot at being a possible Match of the Night for Night of Champions. (barring an H.B.K./Jericho match, that is)

The announcers kept saying that Natalya's opponent will be a diva of Vickie Guerrero's choice. What are the odds that Vickie will pick herself to be the "choice" and then have Natalya lay down, so Vickie can win and become the first-ever Diva's Champion? Gotta admit, as horrible as it sounds its a great way to start off a new shit title.

Deuce & Domino tore into each other after their loss. Could they be taking a Cade/Murdoch style ending? If so, which guy outta the "twin-ish" pair would get the push? They both seem completely even to me. Thats like breaking up Peanut Butter & Jelly, Salt & Pepper, Sex & Girls, neither is worth a crap without the other. I think Domino would get the nod though.. he has long hair, so naturally hes over. :lmao:

Finally, Batista gains his World Heavyweight Championship match. People complain and moan about it, because last year the guy had more Championship matches than most wrestlers get in an entire career. But the fact is, Batista is currently the only guy who best suits the position right now. I doubt he'd win, I'm pretty sure he won't. But would you truly want someone like Matt Hardy, M.V.P., or C.M. Punk taking the first loss on Pay Per View against the newest World Champion? Of course you wouldn't. So Batista will, because hes used to losing Championship match after Championship match. Its nothing new to him.. and next month he'll go back to feuding with Shawn Michaels because it'll be his month in the on again off again relationship Jericho, H.B.K. & Batista are building.

All in all, Smackdown was around a 4 outta 10. The matches weren't the best. Whenever the bright spot of the night is seeing Cherry hit a new finisher, its definately not worth watching again. Or remembering for a long time to come. Khali returns to job, not highly surprising, but how many more times can they use Khali in such a dominate role when he dominates a whole match, only to lose from ONE offensive move?!

Amy’s ‘take’ on Smackdown 06/13/08 edition:

Opening Segment
: In the ring, Vicki welcomed us to the official contract signing for the World Heavyweight Championship match at Night of Champions. She introduced the challenger Batista and said he’d be facing the greatest world champion ever, which elicited a chuckle from Tista. She explained that Edge signed earlier then she signed and said it was Tista’s turn. He noted the thickness of the contract; geez, there must have been 100 pages or more…kill a few trees why don’t ya? Vicki said she added an addendum that he must win one more match tonight against The Great Khali to be confirmed as the #1 contender at Night of Champions. Tista expected as much and said that he’s beaten Khali before and he will again just like he will be WHC again. He told Vicki the only thing uglier than the beating he would give Edge is the woman he’s marrying, lol. He signed the contract and exited the ring. Vicki said she wasn’t finished and there was a second amendment she added – if he loses his match tonight, he would be banished from the entire WWE. Then she dismissed him.

It’s no secret that contract signings are one of my least favorite things, however this one wasn’t bad at all. No one got sent through a table. They kept it short. Tista didn’t have much mic time but was solid. Vicki didn’t stumble over her lines like usual either. I actually liked the stipulation that Tista must again prove he’s worthy of a title shot…classic heel GM move and it only adds to the fans loathing of her and Edge. I’m not excited for a Khali-Tista main event though…individually each can be carried to a decent/good match but the two of them together? Ugh. What I could have done without is the banishment stipulation. It’s too soon after Taker’s banishment. Plus there is absolutely no way Tista is going out on free TV and his last match won’t be against Khali. So there’s no incentive to watch the M.E.

Match #1 Finlay (w/Hornswoggle) vs. John Morrison (w/ The Miz): Before the bell, they aired video from last week of Miz and Morrison talking about hitting the clubs in LA. Finlay with Horny in tow interrupted and said they wanted their tag belts. I have a very bad feeling about this. They could care less about tag-team wrestling these days, so I could definitely see them putting the WWE Tag Team Championship on the midget and Finlay.:disappointed: Heaven help us all!

At the bell, Finlay went on the offensive, but Morrison slid out of the ring. Moments later, Morrison went over the top rope, possibly for a cross body or missile dropkick, but he landed with the ring apron between his legs. Miz went after Horny, but Finlay used Horny to spear The Miz. Back in the ring, Morrison Irish Whipped Finlay and hit a sweet enziguri, knocking Finlay to the floor. He worked Finlay over on the apron then wore him down with a submission hold. Finlay fought back and hit the Celtic Cross. I thought the match was over there, but Morrison kicked out. Miz pulled Horny from under the ring and distracted Finlay. Morrison rolled him up for the win. Decent 5½-minute opening match. Nice back and forth action. Morrison and Miz spared us the antics of Finlay and Hornswoggle this week!
 • Video highlight of Batista winning the 2005 Royal Rumble.
Backstage: Eve asked Edge for his thoughts on Tista’s match with Khali. Edge said he hopes Tista wins because he wants to beat him again at Night of Champions. Oh really Edge, then why all the stipulations? He said if Tista loses it wouldn’t just be the end of his career but a big loss for Smackdown. He referenced the video that just aired and more to come throughout the show, saying he wants to honor Tista just like he did that other guy he recently retired. After a few seconds, he finally remembered the Undertaker’s name and wondered how he’s enjoying retirement. Lame. Punk interrupted to congratulate Edge on his upcoming nuptials and remind him he can cash in his MITB briefcase any time any place, including his wedding. Sweet. That would definitely put a damper on the blessed event. I think it’s important they occasionally remind us Punk is Mr. MITB, otherwise we all just might forget since he has lost so very much the last 2.5 months. I also like that they keep teasing Punk-Edge.

Match #2 Mark Henry vs. Tommy Dreamer
: After Henry’s introduction, they aired video of him mocking Show. He showed a picture of what he looks like now with one busted eye and another image with two messed up eyes, which is what the World’s Largest Athlete will look like when he faces the World’s Strongest Man. Really Mark? I seem to recall Show kicked your ass when you two last squared off about two months ago.

With Dreamer’s introduction, we’re in store for our first squash of the night. Indeed, Henry squashed Dreamer in 2½ minutes. I don’t think Dreamer got any offense in. It’s getting harder and harder to watch Dreamer job so much and so blatantly.

Backstage: Edge walked into Vicki’s office. She introduced him to their wedding planner who left so they could speak privately. Edge complained that Punk just got in his face and warned he might use his briefcase at their wedding. MVP interrupted, saying he needed to speak with her about renegotiating his contract as his talents are being wasted. He said he watched the show from the skybox last week and saw that he is by far the most talented member of the roster. Edge pointed out that he doesn’t have the WHC. MVP fired back that he might if he ever got an opportunity. Amen brother, preach it! Vicki again asked what he wanted. Again he said to renegotiate his contract, which she has the power to do as the GM. Vicki said she would consider it, but she needs a favor first. She said Punk has been a thorn in Edge’s side since he won MITB and she needs someone to take care of him tonight. MVP agreed, but told her to not forget it when his agent calls.

Match #3 Maryse vs. Cherry
: OK, I am officially bored with seeing these two in a match every week. At least, they kept the match short (under 3 minutes). It wasn’t anything special…just your typical ‘divas’ match. Both looked slower and sloppier than in their previous meetings. Pretty even contest with Cherry hitting a nice single-arm DDT for the win.
 • The announcers plugged the M.E. again and showed a video package of The Great Khali.
Match #4 MVP vs. CM Punk: Without a doubt match of the night that was given PPV time (19 minutes). Slow pace for the first minute or so with a waist lock by Punk and a side headlock by MVP then both men exchanged punches, kicks, forearms, and covers for a few minutes. MVP started working over Punk’s left arm and sent him shoulder-first into the ring post three times to take us to commercial break. Back and MVP continued working on Punk’s arm. Moments later, he sized Punk up for the finishing kick but Punk countered with a clothesline and started his comeback with kicks and a sloppy hurricanrana. MVP foiled Punk’s top rope plans then got his knees up as Punk went for an elbow drop. MVP removed a turnbuckle cover and, while the ref was putting it back on, he grabbed the MITB briefcase, however Punk hit the high knee onto the briefcase in MVP’s face. Somehow the case ended up in Punk’s hand. The ref saw Punk with the case and MVP laid out. He drew the likely conclusion and disqualified Punk despite his protests.

Great match. Crap ending. They are getting more creative with regard to HOW Punk loses:thumbsup:…at least he wasn’t flat-out pinned for the umpteenth time this week. Although MVP got the better of Punk during the match and picked up the w, somehow I don’t think that effort will be enough to satisfy the GM.

Match #5 Matt Hardy vs. Chuck Palumbo: Chavo with Bam Neeley said he’ll be Edge’s best man at his wedding to his aunt Vicki then introduced Matt Hardy, the man he will face for the US Championship at Night of Champions. Mayday mayday! Creative is going down, abandon ship. Sure every title has to be defended at Night of Champions, but Chavo Guerrero? Are you kidding me? I swear they just drew names out of Palumbo’s slash hat before the show and came up with that match. Matt needs a REAL feud already; he’s done squat since they hastily wrapped up his program with MVP. They don’t have enough time before the next PPV to create a proper feud and build for the match, so no one is going to care.

Good back and forth the first minute with a nice full nelson-body scissors combination by Hardy then Palumbo gained control for the next minute. He hit Hardy with a series of right hands, back suplex, sleeper, clothesline, and front facelock. Palumbo missed a back splash, allowing Hardy the comeback. Hardy hit the Side Effect, diving elbow shot to the head, then the surprise Twist of Fate for the win. Chavo announced Matt Hardy the winner of the match but loser at Night of Champions. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this match and I rarely enjoy a Palumbo match. I'd have liked it to go longer than 3½ minutes.
 • Video highlight of Batista defeating HHH for the WHC at WM21.
 • Video highlight of McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania from Raw. I eagerly fast-forwarded through that. Once was enough, thank you.
Backstage: Eve stated Vladimir Kozlov has had a very impressive winning streak and asked if he is concerned about the competition getting tougher in the coming weeks. He said something in Russian and walked off with ‘Thank You.’ Umm ok, what was that? That’s a minute of my life I’ll never get back. Umaga’s promos are so much better, lol, no seriously.
 • Video highlight of Batista defeating King Booker for the WHC at Survivor Series 2007.
Match #6 Jesse & Festus vs. Deuce & Domino: Festus went nuts but Jesse got the start this time. He hit a couple quick moves then Domino took over. He kicked Jesse hard in the face and opened him up. Man, Jesse get bloodied the hard way in almost every match lately. Deuce and Domino took turns working over Jesse who later fought back and got the hot tag to Festus who cut lose and pinned Domino. Seriously, we’ve seen this same exact match numerous times now. I’m bored.

Post-match Domino and Deuce had a heated exchange of words then fists. Domino rolled out of the ring and continued shouting at Deuce all the way up the ramp. First they dump Cherry for Maryse (who they are rarely ever accompanied by) and now this? I don’t see either man making it as a singles wrestler. Adios tag division.
 • Video highlight of Khali crushing Batista with the vice grip in September 2007.
Match #7 Batista vs. The Great Khali (Main Event): Edge wheeled Vicki onto the ramp to watch the match. Khali dominated all but the last 10 seconds of this 5-minute match. He used his entire arsenal of moves: punch, chop, big boot, headbutt, scoop slam, leg drop, corner back elbows, Khali Bomb, nerve hold, and clothesline. Tista, with virtually no offense the entire match, hit the spear out of nowhere for the win. Yeah, that is totally believable. If it only takes one move of doom to fell the giant then Edge should just hand Tista the title now.:lmao:

Overall Thoughts: Another disappointing show littered with short, lame matches whose only saving grace was the MVP-Punk match. As Forrest would say, that’s all I have to say about that.

I have to say that this evening's edition of Raw was among the best I have seen in a very long time. There were great matches (notably Cena/Umaga), great promos, the return of Ric Flair - it was all great. I didn't even mind the giveaway segments as they were much better than last time. And Cade at the end - what a shock! This was great.

Here my take on last night'S raw. It was better then last week but a couple of things did bother me. First think was the bikini contest, what'S the point of having two woman's championship if everytime you want to have a bikini contest, all the diva from every brand are able to show up. Also where was Ashley during that segment, if there ever a segment she should have been in, it'S this one. Also why was melina in this? i thought she was in a feud with Beth Phoenix so there no point of having here in a bikini contest unless you have beth take her out before the contest begins. Secodly, The Million dollar mania was better then last week but again i got to say that this should not be done live simply because Raw is playing in other countries that are not eligible to participate in this contest so while in america, everybody is waiting to get a phone call from Vince Mcmahon, In other countries they just wait for it to be over, so you might get more people watching in the u.s but outside of it there is more people changing channel.

Finally, what are they doing to Chris Jericho, last week the guy was so over for what he did to HBK and this week they turn him heel, while i was happy about ric flair showing up, i hate the fact that HHH got in on this, what'S the point of having HHH facing Jericho anyway. Also, what happen to Y2J being a fighting champion like he said 2 weeks ago? He the only champion that doesn'T have a opponent for the PPV in 2 weeks and it doesn'T look like they really want to promote the ic title match that much.

So still outside of the bikini contest and money mania, the show was better then last week and next week, we got the draft and it's going to take a back seat to money mania so let just see how much wrestling they are going to fit in the 3 hours next week.
