Hey now, Chilli, SSC is doing extremely well. In fact, he's really impressing me. He picked a movie he knew people would attack and is taking on all comers. I didn't know he could debate as well as he is. He's really showing himself to have hidden depths with this challenge.

You insinuated it by saying it was a bad choice, when he's clearly turning it into a good choice.

You should be arguing for Goodfellas's technical merits more, Dave. Talk with Guy and discuss why this scene is so great:

Holy shit I forgot all about that scene. I do need to talk to him though, waiting for him to come on MSN.

This round has lost some of you SO MANY points in my book. Really just terrible picks all around I have to say. Godfather? Star Wars? BORAT? Get the fuck out.

How fucking ace would it have been if someone went with a Robert Altman film? I would've e-gasmed in ecstasy.

If one of these guys actually knew who Robert Altman was, I'd instantly nominate him to win the NXT whole shebang.

Coco, why the fuck aren't you out making some thread about Gaslight or something in the film section? Damnit boy this is YOUR CHANCE!

1) I've been eliminated.

2) Despite the entire thing being on Youtube for the masses to enjoy, how much discussion would I be able to generate about Gaslight? It's good, but it's not a pop culture fixture like The Specialist.

Becker already one because he picked the right movie.

Really though, someone should've picked Cabin Fever.

What? Horseraddish! Malarkey! Rabble rabble! Injustice!

It really, really saddens me that you got eliminated so quickly, yet certain people still remain in this contest despite having the personality and character of a cardboard box. Probably same amount of intelligence as well.

I would have posted. And that's all that really matters, isn't it? Who cares what a rogue like Dexter thinks of a film, has he seen every 1930s Italian neo-surrealist-transcendentalist-taxidermist film? I don't think so. I could have dropped some knowledge, perhaps in a bomb-like form. Mega-ton bombs one could say.

I'd be more than loving to go over the merits of The Godfather. I went with big name, that everyone's going to know. Now, do people not like it as much as I had hoped? It appears no. Still, it's what I got.

Would like to see s debate on this one, really

Which is why My rookies choice is bad as very few people have seen it.

Still a good movie. I'll make up for it by going through and starting up debate in the other threads.

Would you rather me have picked Silence of the Lambs, but my heart not be in it? I could have.

EDIT: Yeah, I'll go through and defend my choice laterz. Gotta pack to move to Fayetteville tomorrow. Gotta figure out a way to excuse Let The Right One In's lack of widespread media attention, the lack of overall reach (if I'm reading Tdigs' point correctly), and somehow get through Sam's post without laughing too much.

Before you drop any knowledge, Charles Boyer would like you to get the picture from where you've hidden it and put it back in its place.

Anyhow, my knowledge of the inner-workings of taxidermist film is rather shallow. I've dropped the ball. I should have been stuffing it.

I'm down, I plan to post in all of the threads, already posted in the Borat and Taxi Driver ones, I'll get to yours next. Don't get me wrong, the Godfather is a great film, but if it's not even the best film in it's own franchise of films, how can it be the best of all time? In my opinion (and many others), Part II was superior to the first. That was basically the only reason I mentioned your pick as a poor choice.

Also, +1 Respects to Razor for picking Let the Right One In. Wouldn't crack my top ten, but really a powerful and incredible film.

How poor in your opinion is Goodfellas, X?

Not poor at all. Great, great film. Unfortunately we're talking about Martin Scorsese, one of the greatest filmmakers ever, so even though Goodfellas is in itself a masterpiece, it still wouldn't be in my top 3 Scorsese films. Probably go with Mean Streets, Raging Bull and Taxi Driver over it. Departed maybe as well.

Goodfellas and Casino - world's longest montages.

You say that like montages don't kick ass. If anyone knows how to film a scene set to great music from the past, it's Scorsese. No one does it better.
