Only risk is if Buffalo or another QB needy team trades up, which isn't unlikely. It is a good move though.

I'm reading that the Vikings got the Lions 34th pick (2nd pick tomorrow). Most likely both Clausen and McCoy will be on the board by then, with the Colts, Saints and the Rams being the next three picks.

Why spend a first round pick on him when you can get him and a better player on top of him?

A lot of teams didn't want a QB. It's not like there have been a lot of QBs drafted ahead, there's only been two QBs taken total, and one of them (Tebow) is questionable as to whether he'll even be a QB.

Then, once things got down to the lower end of the draft, the teams that still need a QB see no reason to trade up to get one, since they'll just pick one up in the second round.
