He won the number one contender match, after the match says that after the MitB PPV he will leave the WWE...thoughts?

I cant' quite figure out whether punk beats cena or goes out losing in a strong effort but this alone makes MITB unpredictable. Man it's going to be hard watching wwe without my favorite superstar. Also that would be cool if he won the title and left with it but that cant happen right?

CM PUNK will win and leave with the belt. On Raw the monday after the Belt will be made VACANT which sets up Alberto Del Rio vs. Cena at SummerSlam

It's a storyline, his contract ends in september. CM Punk used this storyline when he was in his last days in ROH. He won the title and then he continued to stay with the title as he claimed each match was his last. but he was a face when he won the ROH title and turned heel. I think he will win the title and at the end keep it and turn face while he leaves unless they still pushing ADR vs Cena for summerslam. Either he wins and it boost ratings for raw the next night or he loses

/\ If he is leaving then he isn't going to go out on his own terms, he will give Cena the rub on the way out. Like someone else said, I could see this as him staying, holding the title a month or two before dropping it back to Cena after he gets his time off.

Could be wishful thinking because all indications point to him being on the way out (legitimately). Although I don't see him going to TNA like some think he will. He will take some time off, then I can see him back in RoH to help them get back on there feet since the new ownership has taken over. That or I can see him going to Japan to make some quick money.

This is one of two things:

1. An angle intended to capitalize on all the buzz about his possibly leaving.

or

2. WWE is allowing him to leave early and to go out on his own terms after one last good match.

Personally I'm more inclined to believe option #1 because not only does Punk have until September on his contract (and I don't think WWE would let him off early) there has been no word that the negotiations on a new contract were over either way. Also this has happened before quite recently actually. Remember when Jericho said that if he lost a match for the title that he would quit and he never did. It's just being a good heel and if he does leave it's obviously on good terms so he'll most likely come back eventually.

I believe this will be an awesome match, but i have a feeling i will not be the only one hoping that he wins, and does another one of those I can't believe you stupid fans believe me, i.e. the titantron suicide deal, but if he does leave, im really hoping its not for good, and would much rather see him back in WWE, than TNA

Yeah his contract is not up till September, and WWE does not let people leave early. I think they should have him win the belt and then he can run around claiming to be WWE champion but not under contract to them so he can do whatever he wants.

Yeah, here's the thing, this pretty much cements that Punk will resign with WWE after hetakes some time off. There is no way Vince would let him do this unless he was 99% sure Punk was going to resign, because why the hell would he let Punk announce that he was going to leave the company with the Championship unless he was sure that Punk would resign at some point?

I read just earlier today that his contract is legitimately up in July. I'm sure it's not right on the 17th, but it is in July and not September. He'll be missed for sure, but I don't see him being gone for good. Hopefully they work something out some time next year or even before the end of this year so he can return. I don't think there's any chance he goes to TNA since his first run there did not end well. Maybe he can spend some more time in ROH during his time away from WWE.

This is absolutely not an angle they would run if he wasn't staying or if he wasn't coming back shortly. Way too "inside" for Vince I agree with him winning the belt that night, then the money in the bank winner cashing in and taking it. he probably takes a few months off and comes back by Survivor Series or the Rumble.

CM Punk wants time off and doesn't want to compete on a full schedule. WWE and Punk are still working out terms on a new contract. WWE would be stupid to let him go. Not to mention "behind the scenes" its been reported that Cena will compete against Alberto Del Rio at Summerslam in august so either way Cena rolls in to SS as WWE champion. Anyone who knows anything about punk outside the ring knows that Punk is extremely intellegent and will stay where the money is. Plus Punk is a loyal athlete to his company, a go to guy of such. He will stay with WWE and maybe take some time off. But for those of us who may believe Punk is really leaving, dont because its as Ralphie9181 has stated, its only an angle.

I think this is Vince's way of letting CM Punk go out on good terms. I think that CM Punk will loose at Mitb and there will be a rematch which will be a Loser Leaves WWE, in Which Punk Leaves and will come back after his Break. Hell He deserves a break.

This seems Like angle wrapped in real life happenings. This does add a little mystery to match and Cena did say he would not mind losing to Punk if it meant him staying with the company. I'm intrigued.

Not sure how this will play out but since his contract is up soon, whether it be the 17th or some time in september, a win would change a lot of things. It would be really interesting to see how things will play out. Maybe he wins and doesn't show up for say 2 weeks or something just to play into leaving with the belt. I mean, Cena aka the cash cow will still be there. Whether the prop of the title belt will is up in the air. The WWE is giving fans what they want with this match since a lot of ppl feel Punk is the best heel and should be feuding with Cena. And since nothing is a secret these days with the internet, they're playing right into what fans are talking about. I mean who really knows the exact day his contract is up? September? July 17? With 2 time frames floating around, it only makes the match and it's outcome that much more interesting. All they need to do is throw Ryder in and make it a triple threat and the world would be a better place right?

Let's see......CM Punk says he's winning the belt in his hometown and then leaving the WWE. My first thought was Montreal Screwjob!

Chicago will be hot for Punk. McMahon comes out to help Cena so he doesn't let the belt leave with Punk. Crowd goes balistic and this could lead to the long-awaited Cena Heel turn. As the little boy in Angels in the Outfield always said, "It could happen".

His contract is truly up, he is leaving, and I am not watching Raw unless HE or Chris Jericho is on that brand, and I will miss him.

It sucks, both my favorite wrestlers are leaving, first Chris Jericho, and now CM Punk? Fuck this, Raw will suck without both of them. Who are we going to rely on, Alberto Del Rio? He says the same shit all the time, he's not interesting AT ALL. His in ring ability is also limited, and he even admits it.

But one thing confuses me, doesn't CM Punk have until September? This could very well be an angle, and that he's tricking us into believing that he was leaving as this has been buzzing for months, and if this was true, he's definitely tricking us well. I hope he doesn't leave, he's the greatest wrestler today, he's well rounded in the ring and on the microphone.

And I also fear, if this to be true, The Chicago Screw Job?

CM Punks contract ending in September was internet speculation. No one outside of the WWE employees know when his contract ends. Regardless of what happens he is not winning the match anyways.

I am glad that they created a situation that we don't know how it'll play out.... I too thought it was odd that he said World Wrestling Entertainment rather than WWE... I hope it doesn't turn on that but it'll be interesting to see what happens at the MITB ppv.
