**MERGED** All Daniel Bryan/Sheamus Situation- Keep It All In Here!

Championship Contender
I think it's safe to say that the WWE should forego their now annual Shaemus vs. Daniel Bryan championship match at next year's WrestleMania. This is the second consecutive year the card has featured the two in a title match, and for the second consecutive year, the match produced the head-scratching booking decision of the night.

Just curious - which one disappointed you more?

WrestleMania 27 - Shaemus vs Daniel Bryan for the US Title gets pushed to the dark match...

or

WrestleMania 28 - Shaemus vs Daniel Bryan for the WHC ends in 18 seconds.

I'm going to go with this years match. Like come on, really? Are they trying to devalue the Royal Rumble? I remember how important winning the Rumble actually used to be. They barely do anything with the winner anymore! Although I wanted Sheamus to walk out with the WHC, I didn't want him walking in and out within 5 minutes.

I honestly think that this year takes it. I had read somewhere on here that the reason the WHC match was first last year is because Edge was injured (obviously) and they wanted to hurry up and get it done with, so I had thought it was a one year thing. Also, the way the match itself went just devalued the world title that much. Bryan goes to kiss AJ, turns around to get Sheamus' boot to the face, pin 1-2-3 and new world heavyweight champ. Well, at least the Royal Rumble "curse" is over now

Last year.

This year, they were put into a very important match up and it's likely the crowd wouldn't have been as invested into Wrestlemania had it not been for the opener. Alot of people are forgetting that the opener of a wrestling card is just as, if not more important than any other match on the card. Why; because it sets the stage for the rest of the show. Bryan's reign ended perfectly for his character and because of that, his character will grow dramatically within the coming months. Look at Daniel Bryan's character and why he’s so damn over right now. He continuously wins his matches by utilizing cowardly under handed tactics. What does Sheamus do to make sure Daniel Bryan doesn't use those same tactics on him; Brogue kick him from the very start; smart booking from my perspective. Last year's Wrestlemania match for these two was way worse than this year's. Especially given they actually had a memorable Wrestlemania moment this year. A moment that we are all talking about.

This years Wrestlemania between the two was more disappointing.

I do however have to mention something that most people haven't come to realize yet, and that is the way it turned out might be a huge positive for Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan last night got a huge reaction from the crowd after the match and it went on during the Kane/Orton, BigShow/Cody, and Divas tag match. The scary thing originally about this match is that Bryan could have lost to Sheamus and then found himself in midcard hell or he could have won and people would be arguing about the Royal rumbles relevancy.

Tonight at American Airlines Arena expect a huge reaction for Daniel Bryan after last night. I foresee him having a program with CM Punk this year for the WWE title after his thing with AJ ends.

I personally don't care for either superstar so it didnt bother me that much but it made me think maybe Bryan did something wrong and Vince was punishing him. I couldn't understand why they would disgrace the belt like that to begin the big show.

Then I thought, well it is the beginning of WM28 and its a 4 hour show and the crowd is all geared up and out side of the Rock and Takers match, that was the biggest pop of the night. Kind of like in a big sporting event the beginning of each game usually has the home fans going crazy at the start of the game and say the home team runs the kick off back for a touchdown the crowd would go crazier because they are already pumped. So after I sat there like really? This is how it ended? It came off like if I was at the event I would have marked out because I was already pumped and BOOM big boot and new champion.

Therefore I end up thinking their match being pushed dark was the bigger disappointment.

For fans that LIKE the two wrestlers, I would have to think I would be disappointed. If I paid that much money to go see Stone Cold and he stuns a guy 18 seconds into the match I probably would be pissed.

Last year's. It wasn't even on the main card. This year it was, albeit short as hell. Initially, I was REALLY pissed off about Daniel Bryan losing to Sheamus in just 18 seconds. It's the World Heavyweight Championship AT WrestleMania. If it's that easy to win, then what's the point of all the build-up and hard-fought victories that Sheamus collected? However, I will say that the reaction Daniel Bryan got was astounding. There were YES! signs and people even chanting it with him as he came out to the ring. There were Daniel Bryan chants repeatedly. That just shows how over he is and it's all thanks to the WHC. I seriously hope Daniel Bryan can keep this kind of momentum and not relegate to staleness. Whether he turns face as a result or stays a heel, I don't care as long as we get some worthwhile entertainment. With that being said, I think it's about time that they move Daniel Bryan as far away as possible from Sheamus. There seems to be a repeating pattern of DB being Sheamus' whipping boy. Remember when DB was destroyed by Sheamus and won by DQ? Remember when DB lost the United States title to Sheamus? And now this? lol. Let's please move on.

Welll obviously this year was more disappointing for me, because DB actually made it to the main show... I kid, I kid. I think we should be glad that the match made it to the show but I cant get my head around why the match would be as short as it was. I immediately thought about what DB did that might've cost him such an embarrassing first WM match. Usually you have to piss someone off backstage to lose the title like that. I thought of a wellness policy violation but the fact that its Daniel Bryan of all people and the fact that we havent heard anything about him being suspended pretty much rules that one out. To do something that silly, WWE would need a tremendous storyline to fall back on. Maybe its "karma" for DB causing Show the shortest title reign in history. I dont know and if it was because WWE thinks the crowd is that high on Sheamus I think the boos that accompanied him to the ring at WM have taught them otherwise. Like someone else said, I dont feel strongly towards any superstar so I could care less but this one is definitely a head scratcher.

Honestly I was looking forward to this match and I was hoping for a good match up. At first I was pissed for the quick win. However after thinking about the way it played out could possibly help with DB's character in the long run. So as long as they follow it up with a stronger push for DB's character then it wont matter that they had a 18 second match at wrestlemania.

I was way more disappointed last year when they didn't even make it to the main card. As for this year, they probably thought by having an 18 second title change to open the show would be the best way to get something to trend. This year was BS, but I feel like they're just jerking the Daniel Bryan fans around. By doing this, the reactions will become bigger and the Daniel Bryan character will only become stronger. And hey, Danielson has worked tons of lengthy matches in his day. Not to say he's only in it for the cash, but I bet he got a nice payday for an easy night's work. He deserves that.

Probably last year... going from an advertised match to a dark match would suck.

What happened last night is going to make him more popular. Like the time he got fired. People started chanting his name and everything because they felt he got screwed.

He will have another couple of months where everybody is crazy about him. Eventually some of that hype will die down simliar to Ryder.

Vince does make some odd decisions. This is going to hurt Sheamus face turn.

Last year I wasn't really invested in either character so the only reason I was mad is because I wanted to see the US title defended at Mania. This year I was mad at first, but then after listening to other points of view I can see that the match set the tone for the night, and DB's character will only grow from here. So after further review I am going to say last year was more disappointing becasue they didn;t even include the title match on the PPV.

Mania 27 was probably more disappointing because I feel that Mania was pretty bad minus 2 matches and having a championship match dark carded was pretty bad. While the match was a squash, it made sense. Plus Daniel Bryan is massively over. As I'm watching Raw, the crowd won't stop chanting for him but then again it could simply be the Miami crowd. At least this year we got to see the match, last year we missed it which sucks.

As of tonight , Daniel Bryan is One of the Hottest superstars in the Business .

When he first got The World Heavyweight Championship some fans were happy that the once Indy Wrestler had won the gold yet as it went on more and more fans Became Bored at the reign as it went on (if my memory is correct) and then after a disappointing 18 second loss has Became this 'Icon' with the fans tonight and even during wrestlemania last night .

We seen the fans tonight constanly chanting 'YES,YES,YES' and 'Daniel Bryan' over the night and when Del Rio came out 'Si,Si,Si' . They where hot alright and he got a HUGE pop when he refused to interview with Josh Matthews .

So Has Losing The Title Had A Postive Impact On D-Bry's Future ?
Is He A Fan Favorite Just Cause Of The YES,YES,YES Chants?
And
Where Does He Go From here ?

My answer to them questions are-

1-Danielson is still young , am sure he has many title runs in him . yet losing the title in the fashion he did seems to have put him up there in a way . he got the push he wanted with The MITB Breifcase and gave him the title and give him his due it was a good run yet his matches to me where a little too Boring and then to go to the Grandest stage of them all and lose it within 18 seconds on the first match of the night could of really set him up for the future in a good way, with AJ always doing the good luck yes thing , he could take this on as could WWE and produces tops with it on creating huge merch sales . look at ron simmons , an okay wrestler with a great catchphrase .

2-Yes! he has come from heel to face really with the YES chants, although it might not last , he should hope it does as it could as i said Boost his popularity and also stauts in the company .

3-I Think Bryan should start a feud with a similar type of wrestler for me i think Dolph Ziggler is a perfect opponent and then after a convincing win at Extreme Rules and good crack for a Title Chance . For the future , we could see Bryan keep this persona going and push on to Become part of WWE history .

What Do You Think ?

LORD TENSAI :wtf:

I HATE Bryan. When people kept chanting YES YES YES, and SI SI SI (which was hilarious) I was blown away. I keep asking myself why are people chanting this bums name. I was highly amused though. I hate Bryan but Vince must listen to the fans, my personal opinion doesn't matter, it's the majority's opinion that does. I like booing Bryan so just keep Bryan in the title picture I guess.

Wrestlemania 27: Was a dark match. Didn't see it.

Wrestlemania 28: I Started watching WM 10 minutes late and missed the match.

I think this year's was more disappointing. A world title match at Wrestlemania should last longer than 18 seconds. Judging by the crowd reaction at Raw tonight, I don't think the WWE did Sheamus any favors with that match.

This moment was equivalent to that of Stone Cold at WM13, Rock at Summerslam 98, or Hogan at WM18. He has instantly become a fan favorite and will be pushed as a top star in the company.

i was surprised by all the love for daniel bryan tonight and at wrestlemania i knew the IWC loved him but clearly the fans do as well weather this means hes gonna turn face now or not i dont know but i think it might be smart to let someone else fued with sheamus right now (for the love of god NOT del rio! :banghead:) and have d-bryan fued with someone he could put on great matches with and get the crowd even further behind him maybe ziggler but thats been done already

lets not get too ahead of ourselves.

i am a pretty big fan of daniel bryan, and while i do think this will help him somewhat, it is nowhere near the career defining moment like stone cold at wm13, etc.

the way i see it, we had a hot crowd that did it out of protest/support for daniel bryan, but carried over to other shows and arenas....might not be the case. While i hope it does improve his stock and his stature (and i think it will somewhat) it wont propel him to superstardom.

besides, all the pro-daniel bryan chanting that took place over the night would have been the main theme had raw not ended the way it did. lesnar returning destroyed that

I think the OP hit it on the head a little bit. It looks like this loss helped Bryan more than hurt him. Unlike some people, I LOVED the YES! Chants tonight. The only time they clammed up was during Rock's promo and when Lesnar came out. Other than those moments, it was either YES! YES! YES! or "DANIEL BRYAN!" The crowd was so HOT. I loved it. I'm a Daniel Bryan fan, but I became an even bigger fan of his tonight. These YES! chants maybe the new thing. It was nothing career defining or something that massive.

But to answer the OP, I think Bryan's gonna stay heel. Look at how over he got by losing in 18 seconds. The fans couldn't stop cheering for him. It looks like that loss is the best thing that ever happened to Bryan.

I think he's gonna the belt back soon. Maybe around Summertime or something.

I'd honestly like to see him take the WWE title off of Punk. A ppv match between the two would be awesome. And I'm 100% certain that I'd enjoy another DB title reign over CM Punk's current reign. There's no doubt about it, DB is hot right now and I'm pretty sure the WWE sees that.

This crowd won't be the gauge for his standing with the general audience. If the crowds on future shows adopt the "yes" chants and put him even more over, then he has the opportunity to run with his momentum.

I also dont hope the yes chants turn into a comedic gag

BIG NEWS FROM AFTER THE DARK MATCH

The Masked Man, Grantland.com's wrestling writer, was at tonight's show, and apparently after the dark match he cut a promo to the fans. This is the promo, as transcribed by the Masked Man on twitter:

“I would only say one word right now but somehow it seems inadequate. Last night was the worst night of my wrestling career but thanks to all you people chanting Yes! I think you have officially convinced them to make me a new T-shirt. AJ, what do you think of all this? Shut up! Go! I guess there’s nothing left to say so I’ll just go. Okay, but if I’m gonna say it, every single one of you better buy the tshirt okay? Miami Florida, and to everyone who came to WrestkeMania, and everyone who’s here tonight: Yes! Yes! Yes!”

And the crowd gives Bryan an even bigger pop than Lesnar.

I have to say that I was pretty conflicted with this decision, because it didn't seem like both things were disappointing. Last year it sucked because we didn't even get to see their match and while I love that Sheamus won, it ended so fast with a Brogue Kick that if you blink you'd have missed it. I don't think I can pick which one was the most disappointing, but last year's for me would have the slight edge only because atleast this year we saw it !
