Live Discussion: Raw 1/4/2010

It hasn't been that great Sid. It's all flash and twists with little substance or in ring work to back it up.
Perhaps...but it's still been better than Raw, if only for the shocks.

I have to say...Raw may not get as many replies in two hours as TNA did in its first hour...

Ring work doesn't make a wrestling show, though. Never has. Once people accept that ring work doesn't necessarily mean diddly squat when it comes to ratings, or producing interest, that becomes a given.

Why is anyone honestly surprised they haven't seen Bret Hart all that much tonight, or didn't get anything else out of Raw tonight. You buy it from Vince hook, line, and sinker every single time .. while TNA is putting on one Hell of a show tonight with tons of surprises.

1.) The beginning with Bret and HBK was awesome, as was Jericho and Bret's segment.

2.) We had a great tag title match and a very good fatal four way setting up Miz/MVP.

3.) Kofi/Orton should be great.

4.) They elevated Sheamus and Bourne in one segment.

5.) The showdown between Bret and Vince at the end of the show is going to be incredible.

Except for all the promos and mentions. What do you want from them? What, do you just want to see his face on screen, emotionless, just looking at the camera ALL NIGHT? What do you want him to do?

For fuck's sake, go back to the TNA LD.

I would agree on Impact being better, but they can't live off of shocks forever.

Of course. TNA pulled out all the stops, and WWE barely did anything aside from having Bret return. We'll just have to see how well TNA is able to keep their momentum going.

What do you want bret to do? have a crappy segment with the bellas or hornswoggle or santino? or someone else that doesnt have anything to do with bret?

Agreed...the point tonight though was about getting people to watch them, and they've done about all they can to do that.

Yes they have, but I've always thought the most important number was the next rating. It doesn't mean a lot to get people to show up. It matters to get them to keep coming.

Absolutely...the point I'm making is that tonight was ALL about who could win the viewers tonight, so next week would see either an increase in TNA or an increase in Raw.

It's not a ratings battle tonight, it's a "how many fans can TNA convert tonight". And with that said, if the WWE put on a good show, they might be able to convert TNA fans to more WWE programming..instead, it'll be the opposite.

Are you telling me it would be hard to write a show around Bret Hart? Of course not, we saw it in 1997 every week.

It seems to me that WWE isn't trying to compete here and that might be the best thing. TNA at the moment simply isn't a threat to WWE and won't be for awihle. Now, could they be eventually? Yes, but why seem like you're nevous otherwise?

We should remember that WWE are also putting on ECW tomorrow and Smackdown on Friday. This is nowhere near all their eggs, nor are they residing in one basket.
