IMPACT Wrestling LD for 08.25.11

You know, if Joe wasn't a pro wrestler, he looks like he would be one of those Dungeon and Dragons dungeon masters who plays way too much World of Warcraft.

Hey I like World of Warcraft. 3 months in and I just got to a level 40 Paladin. And I don't look a thing like Somoa Joe.

Serious question, not a complaint so much (well actually it is). Why is the camera footage so poor in backstage segments in TNA? Always looks like a home camcorder being operated by a drunken cameraman.

It's shot like that intentionally. "Reality" style. Bischoff/Hervey brought that in. I actually like it.

It makes it look "edgy" and "realistic". They've done it for years.

I realize they have been doing it for a while, I wasn't commenting on tonight only. But it is supposed to look edgy and realistic, but to me looks low budget. Every time my son sees it he asks me what's wrong with the cameras they use on TNA.

Smart people. That's why they don't show the audience when Crimson comes out.

If you were watching his entrance he got a much better reaction than Anderson kicking the snot out of Immortal. And the audience were much more into the match than any other match tonight. You obviously weren't watching the show so I will cut you some slack.

I can understand why he says so. It's a very modern approach. It's designed to make the footage seem more "raw".

Have you heard of fake crowd noise?

Exactly what I say when people see that I have significant holes in every pair of underwear I own. "Modern approach." "Raw." "Very."

Good show. Much better when you fast-forward the Knockouts and Hogan/Flair/Sting.

Were you not watching the fans in the back? You can see a good few of them standing up and cheering on Crimson. It's not like that fake piped in pop Gillberg used to get. It is becoming more and more obvious you didn't watch the show tonight.

Pretty good show I thought, we need to get some matches on the No Surrender card though.

As others have said it's meant to evoke a more on the fly approach which sometimes works well (Sting painting Hogan's face for example) but does sometimes also work poorly. I liked how they set up the camera angle at the end, much better than just having Joe attack Crimson then have a camera operator move out of the way and frame the shot up. Having Joe bundle the operator over so he falls into position was a good move.

I guess it also differentiates them from WWE's style of vignettes and backstage stuff too.
