Sounds bloody amazing this week, but because Challenge T.V is a cunt, I cannot watch this until next Tuesday over here in the U.K

However, I may come & join in for the banter.

They're hot right now. I'm just wondering what they're going to do once the X Division goes back to the back burner like it always seems to do after its PPV.

Well when it's been the case every time the DX PPV has been X Division themed, what am I supposed to think?

Did my response dispute your assertion? No, although I think you are exaggerating in that regard as well. One of the friggin matches gives someone a new contract in the frickin X-division for chrissakes.

You mean the X Division that has like 10 people in it already and most of the time they're lucky to be on TV once every 3 weeks?

See: Exaggeration.

In general I think you miss the point. It doesn't seem like you are only saying the X-division related segments have been good recently. You seem to be saying that the program has been pretty good recently. That isn't only related to those "10" X-division guys.

Yes it has been good recently, because the X-Division has been the focus of the show rather than the other stories. Once the X-Division is gone from being the focus, the other stories come back to prominence. Once that happens, it would seem to reason that things go back down.

How many of the guys being focused on are not even in the X-division anymore though? I do not think the X-division has been the focus at least not by a large amount. Maybe 60% Destinaton X, 40% BFG/Midsummer Nightmare.

Debating what isn't really the issue though. It is a simple observation about your approach to the show. You constantly claim you want to like the product, but even when you find you do you look to the future to "find" reasons to be unhappy instead of enjoying the present while it lasts and dealing with the hypothetical if they occur.

As opposed to probably 5% X-Division at other times. Interesting that they've been better when the "draws" aren't the focus.

It never ceases to amaze me how people keep criticizing my criticisms of the show, yet I'm one of the few here every single week that never misses it.

Yeah, RVD and AJ are never on TV

Hogan-Sting have been in the highest rated quarter hours for a few weeks running.

They got an even better spike from the ECW people last summer and you did not find that "interesting." The ECW people also did not immediately disappear either.

I do no care about your critique of the show. I just find your method of pursuing enjoyment to be perplexing. Why go to the trouble to invent hypothetical negatives when you could simply just enjoy what you are watching? My criticism is that you are insisting on critiquing more than the show.

The difference is that he's basing what he's saying on history. Destination X has been focused on that division for several years and after it's over, the focus on the division wittles away. Now that was in a time when the division mattered. It was on its deathbed before this PPV so smart money is on the division not mattering after this show. Saying otherwise is you doing what you always do, trying to get everyone to believe that Impact's shit don't stink.

Listen, we all hope that the X Division gets focus after this show because it's clear that the shows are better when they get time to shine. That said, based on history and based on the booking prior to 3 weeks ago, that doesn't seem likely. That's all that's being said. Don't get too crazy over it.

Has the show really been that much better recently? I don't think it has. Better, but there hasn't been some monumental leap in quality. I mean, that's my opinion..just giving my opinion, geez...can't I have an opinion, Mike?

Where has Flair been? The fuck is happening with that man

Not really and definitely nowhere near the extent of this year.

The history where the X-division was well received or the other history? 3 weeks? Try 7+. That is when the X-division storyline with Bischoff started and was then passed to Abyss.

If all that was being said was that there was going to be less X-division focus after this PPV I would not have any issue because that is obvious. I have never once questioned that. I am questioning the stupid idea that you should not enjoy it while it lasts and that they built up Kendrick, whoever wins the contract, put Daniels in the main event etc. only to do absolutely nothing with the division once this PPV is over. Furthermore, several of these supposed "X-division guys" have historically and recently been a big part of Impact. Are you really trying to convince me that the show is going to start sucking because Anderson is going to replace Jerry Lynn on the upper card?

In fairness, Anderson being in the upper part of the card does bring the show down a few notches for me :icon_wink:

That said, the show is going to change dramatically after the show and that's what is being said. Yes, people believe and I think rightly so, that the X-Division will go back to irrelevance quite soon after this show. It's nice that it was built up to sell this show, but for it to mean something long term, I'm going to have to see it to believe it.

The point is that the show has improved in quality due to better flow. Part of that is having two shows to build towards instead of one. Part of Impact has been towards Destination X while most of the rest has been building to the Midsummer Nightmare (bonus points to anyone in TNA who actually knows what this name is playing off of). When there are not two shows to build towards, specifically not one that is wrestling-heavy, the flow would seemingly change, and that extra wrestling we are enjoying, that quality usage of time, will probably cease to exist. I hope we're wrong on this and that the wrestling content stays strong, but based on how the show was booked until 3 weeks ago (yes 3 weeks when the Destination X build actually started), I wouldn't bet my life on it.

So we'll see.

Oh also, I won't be here tonight. Sitting first row bleacher creatures in hopes that Derek Jeter gets 3 hits to get to 3000. Hope the show is good!

And as always, my radio show was last night with guest John Canton. If you don't know John, he runs thejohnreport.net. If you've never checked out his site, I recommend doing so immediately. It's one of the biggest wrestling sites on the net and he and his team of writers have a lot of interesting perspective pieces to read. He's a friend of mine, though he won't introduce me to Mickie James! Still, check out his appearance on my show:

Radio Show With John Canton!

Looks like another good show tonight, that four-way has me amped up, I hope they give it some decent time. I'm also a fan of the fact that they've hyped up several matches already for an episode of TV as opposed to the WWE which doesn't seem to advertise TV matches ever anymore. Makes TV feel somewhat important almost.

Should be a good go-home show for the PPV.

JJ, So you say the quality and flow improved for reasons beyond just the current shows they were building to yet it will be "as bad as ever" once those shows are over? How isn't that a contradiction?

There is a difference between seeing it to believe it and condemning it before it even has a chance to happen.
