If you've watched the film you'll know that she was better than all of the others, easily.

I have seen it, and it IS an amazing performance, but I have never seen a performer accept an award with less graciousness. That's the type of speech Jim Cameron would give.

I'm also pretty sure that this was the first time that a performer has thanked their attorney. Makes me think she threatened the Academy with a racial discrimination lawsuit.

She was just making a point that awards shouldn't be given based on ploitics and how much you beg for it or for how much you kiss the academys ass and i agree with her it should be based on the actual performance.

Point made. Doesn't excuse the fact that it was the least classiest acceptance speech since Michael Moore won Best Documentary for Bowling For Columbine.

I have never seen a performer not acknowledge the hard work of their peers in their speech., Even that dick Sean Penn mentioned it in his speech last year.

Then again, none of those actresses are her "peers". They've all given good performances before this. Monique's second best performance is in Phat Girlz.
