At ComiCon at San Deigo CM Punk did this:

First off, hats off to the WWE for playing out this amazing angle. Almost everyone is hooked into this and if the numbers haven't gone up, they're sure as hell going to.

Second, the myth about Punk not signing with WWE is now, done. He re-signed. Clearly.

Finally, what implications does this have for Punk and WWE, Trips said "Give me a call" where does the storyline go from here? Where does it head, and where does it end?

Is Cena still part of this storyline? Yes, no, maybe?

Leave your thoughts below

About 2 hours ago, it was reported that the next step in the CM Punk storyline took place during a Q & A seesion Triple H was conducting at the WWE booth at Comic-Con.

According to IGN, Punk first took issue with the WWE Championship tournament and issued a challenge to Rey Mysterio, The Miz "or anyone else" to come find him in Chicago. Punk also told Triple H that he should put Zack Ryder on television, which drew a good amount of cheers from the surrounding fans that came to the seesion. Triple H responded that things have changed on Raw and that a new regime is running things now.

Triple H also told Punk to give him a call and that they might be able to "give him his job back." Punk responded by taking a jab at Triple H's wife when he said that Stephanie McMahon already has his number.

This was a brilliant move on WWE's part and a great way to get some free advertising and publicity as there's tons of media all over the place at any given time at Comic-Con. It's also a great way to keep the buzz for the CM Punk storyline fresh and on everyone's mind.

Great news this basically confirms he resigned. Or else he is turning into a big time attention ****e. :lmao: Would love to see CM Punk vs Triple H at SS
Vince is a smart business man. I really didn't think he would of let him beat Cena if he was legitimately leaving.

I wonder how much more of this storyline will spill into the "real world". With Punk being at the Cubs game with the belt, actively partying Sunday night, and now this, the WWE is starting to try to get back in the public eye. That's my take on it anyways.

I love it!! I absolutely llllove it!

Hunter didnt even answer the Ryder question, did he? Bastard!

Steph's got his phone number. Too funny! Waaaay too funny!

I cant wait for this to play out on WWE-TV. I hope Punk isnt gone for much longer. I wanna see this confrontation on RAW sooo bad! Get CM Punk back on RAW immediately Pleeeease!

Being a kayfable nut I refuse to say CM Punk signed until I see the official WWE contract saying so... I see this as CM Punk embarrassing the E whenever he gets a chance. He will not be at WWE events for a while but he will parade around places WWE officials and WWE stars appear and harass the company in the public eye. He is trying to let the world know on 7/17/11 I beat John Cena for the WWE title and I left the WWE with their Holy Grail... Which in the process is telling the public watch WWE... WWE needs to be in your life...

Finally a great storyline that has not been tarnished or destroyed by WWE creative but instead allowed to flourish..I am really entertained right now and it is refreshing. CM Punk was always great in my eyes (not my favourite) but always entertaining when used right or allowed to do his own thing..now he is one of my favourites for sure. I hate to follow a crowd but I can't deny his superstar value and look foward to seeing how this develops. I would love Triple H Vs CM Punk in the not so far off future.. no rush to get them in the ring yet though...it's great to once again see a story being given lots of time to grow.

Wouldn't mind Triple H Vs Cena at Summerslam in a number one spot match for the WWE Title...Just to keep the saga going.

I might be thinking a bit far into this, but maybe a bit of a new faction is forming? With the rumours of Cabana, Hero and Castagnoli signing with WWE and also the news of this Comic Con being on the Heyman Hustle. A sort of NWO style group maybe?

CM Punk VS. Triple H, come on, it's gotta happen! He even issued a sort of-challenge to Triple H. This match has just got to happen, Vince wrestled as chairman so why can't HHH lol? He's only 40 or something like that so he's got years left in him. Make it happen!

I cant begin 2 tell u how great this guy is & how much of a bigger fan i've become(and i was already a big fan since '06)!!

He's getting MAJOR pops everywhere he goes. He's already a GREAT talker and an in-ring competitor....what CANT this guy do??

The look on ppl's face when he 1st walked in & the reaction was priceless. He's become a HUGE deal around the world. Face of the WWE-type mainstream......already was a triple-crown champion!!

Dont get me wrong, im not ALL over the guy...It's just not many negative things u can say about him. He's NEVER gonna get a DUI or a drug violation..LOL!!

All im saying is WWE has struck HUGE with this guy right now and I just hope they dont mess it up...thats all!!!

They should keep him off of WWE TV for even longer and keep having these sorts of confrontations. Don't overuse it of course, but 3 or 4 more spread out across a few months would be great and then maybe have him return at Survivor Series? Technically they could still have him at Summerslam, perhaps have him pull a DX and stay outside the arena all night with a megaphone.

This was a great idea on Punk's and the WWE's part. CM Punk is only getting more over with each day and at this point I would say its safe to claim that CM Punk is either on the level of Randy Orton or, in my personal opinion, even higher in terms of being a draw. Its even entirely possible that CM Punk could overtake John Cena. While Cena will always have the child demographic, CM Punk appeals to everyone else. In 6 months time we will be able to see how big of a draw he has become, but he is certainly hanging around at the top of the current roster that's for sure.

I feel the WWE has a bit of a dilemma with what they do with Punk, keeping him off TV is adding to the creditability of the storyline and really helping to build the momentum, and having him do stunts like this is very benefical, however how long is to long for Punk to be off our screens? Get it wrong and it could kill a storyline that has the potential to be the greatest in years, and that would be nothing short of a travesty! IMO

That was really cool. This Punk angle is the best in years. I agree with what Mark Madden said about the belt. It's gaining more credibility by not being there than it ever did by being there.

This is interesting that they are still playing the storyline out. I wonder what Raw will bring us this Monday. Along with the Rock's involvement in WWE again, this has been the most interesting storyline WWE has concocted in years. Instead of forgetting about the storyline altogether, it looks like WWE is teasing us with CM Punk's presence week after week. I'm sure some more exciting stuff is yet to come.

Now if only they would show this clip on Raw in the near future that would really help build this angle. For the viewers sitting at home to see something like this would really add a sense of realism.

Well theres dis lil clause in all title reigns that state the champion must defend the title within 30days if winning it or its vacated so a angle involving that could work if trips and punk feud
......also CM Punk was part of Team DX-Treme at Survivor Series one year so a possible alliance type angle could work with the remaining members of Nexus, Punk and Trips working as a McMahon Corpiration angle.......the possibilities with this is endless jus glad CM Punk is on top of the wrestling world........

I'm sure there were WWE cameras there filming Punk's "interruption", and it will be shown on Raw. I'm sure Punk will be doing this alot and the cameras will be there to capture all of it.

Although Punk wont be at Raw, he'll be on tv reminding everyone he has the WWE title. The Comic Con is only the beginning I'd assume.

a cool way to do it would be have Punk "hijack" the WWE feed and air a video. It keeps him on TV while not having to be at the arena. Still allows him to convey his message without ever having to step foot in the arena. Gives it a more "real, gritty" feel.

Great publicity. Making an impact at Comic-Con will be seen by a large portion of audience between the ages of 13 to 25 as opposed to kids that have early bedtimes and John Cena posters and former Attitude fans that now have families and jobs.

WOW just WOW. This is the best story line in wrestling, not just WWE but wrestling in general in a while. The more the better, but i do believe we have to see Punk on WWE tv to have those who don't search the net for wrestling news to be involved like we are.

This is a great move by WWE in my opinion! I love how much RAW has been keeping us guessing and then this happens and it is just adding to this amazing storyline that makes me feel like a kid again! I am so excited for everything WWE is doing right now! Hell even SmackDown has been great! I LOVE THIS

I can hear the millions of so-called "in the know" posters on this site that are crying right now because everything they have been typing for 3 weeks is not true! Yes, Vince McMahon is STILL in charge of WWE, Yes, HHH being the spokesperson for "The Board of Directors" is the same as Mick Foley being the spokesperson for "The Network" and YES, CM Punk signed a new contract with WWE.....before MITB!

you know why this is working so good and staying fresh. cuz they are not showing it on wwe tv! this is something that has never been done before and that's why it is working. the wwe find found something they have never done before! they are finally using social media and the internet to reach out more so, some one is finally thinking outside the box!

First of all, I'd like to share my appreciation of this angle; undoubtedly the best angle in years.

My Concern is how long/short it is going to be. As some have suggested it could end at Summerslam; but I feel it would make it too short as the way in which CM rocked us with his initial 'intention to leave' would somewhat fall flat. The WWE in recent years has been guilty to drag out things too, so if done poorly, Survivor Series may be an exhaustion in the creative team's think-tanks.

If the creative team could somehow prolong this angle, in addition to keeping its intensity and interest; they could really be on to something. Few would argue that this hasn't been the best idea they've had in years. I just hope they keep pulling rabbits out of the hat, because the past month or so of viewing has brought back that suspenseful feeling I had more frequently in what seemed to be looking like the distant past.

genius angle! Has the entire iwc guessing and questioning things. So many ways for this to play out. Old guard Vs New guard and others they have picked out so many of the best things out of small angles that failed in the last few years that it works. Think Matt Hardy coming back. Or the Nwo invasion angle. And not niave enough to think that Punk hasn't resigned after all he walked in and out of the Q&A with security wouldn't of happened if they didn't know he was coming.
