12/21 Raw LD: Raw gets DAMONIZED!

Guess it's no worse than Mongo being US champ.

1995 had some good wrestling man. You had guys like HBK, Bret, Owen, Davey, Razor, the 1-2-3 Kid, Nash, and a bunch of other young guys in their prime. There was some solid wrestling that year despite the shitty angles.

Yeah the top guys were good enough. It was the pure stupidity of the company though. Seriously, a football player main events Mania and Mabel vs. Diesel main events Summerslam and a 30 minute Rumble where Dory Funk was the 3rd best worker at the end.

I'm confused, is that an insult to Dory Funk or not?

Yeah, anytime you've got fucking Mabel in the main event, your company's booking is shit. But hey we did get the awesome HBK-Razor Ladder Match Part 2 on that same show and an awesome opener with Hakushi and the 1-2-3 Kid, so I actually always thought of that show as being a success. Luckily that was the last we'd see of Mabel in the main event.

Well...until "Big Daddy V".

No, it's insulting the fact that a guy in his 50s was out working guys in their 20s. That's impressive for Funk.

And the SS ladder match never was excellent for me. Good and even very good, but miles behind the 94 one.

Well, other than the tag match ( which was ok ), and the fact that Swagger was allowed to get a good amount of offense on Cena in his inevitable less, there was pretty much nothing redeemable about this show.
If the Slammys' hadn't sucked so bad last week, this would have been one of the worst Raw's I've seen in some time.

I know the WWE is PG, but this crap with Hornswoggle and DX has to stop. It's bad enough that DX is even around still considering the concept of the group is impossible to believe now given the influence Shawn and Hunter obviously have in the company ( how anti-establishment). Add in that most of their shtick lately is doing lame skits with a midgets and it goes from bad to worse. Who actually thinks this is funny? Even if you like DX, this stuff is pretty terrible. I'm baffled that anyone over the age of 12 could find this stuff entertaining.

It's just corny.

I was sad Jericho was off of Raw at first, but if their going to book him and Big Show into this DX/Hornswoggle mess, this he needs to stay on SD away from that crap. Oh wait!
DX has the titles, so they can their silly circus on on road. Blah! Chris deserves better than this!

Anyway, let's see. WWE champ Sheamus is still drawing to no heat on his own, Chris Master is becoming a face because his boobs can dance; the Diva's match appeared to be 2 minutes long ( again )...

Yeah, at this point, a regular Impact is less stupid than this. With the exception of when Nash kayfabe booked the show a few weeks ago, Impact has been generally better.

I know that alot of people here are WWE marks and think TNA is the land of rejects or is too minor league for them to watch, but if you might want to do yourselves a favor and check it out on 1/4. I don't think Vince is going to churn out this much idiocy if it become obvious that people are turning from it to watch Impact. Seems unbelievable, but that's how it works. For reasons I can't comprehend, this type of Raw is suitable to put forth to Vince, and without competition, it might stay this way for a while.

I really hope too many people haven't been completely lured away from switching out to Impact on 1/4 cause of Bret. I know we all want to see him, but don't let him being on Raw stop you from switching over to Impact from time to time.
If Impact doesn't gain some viewers, or at least sustain its regular viewership against Raw, they might not try it for awhile, and when Bret is gone, Raw will revert back into this crap because they don't feel threatened.

So if you haven't liked Raw this year, give Impact a try. Hopefully they'll have their s*%t together. Hell, at the moment they don't have midgets running around and their World Champion actually gets a reaction from the crowd, so that's a start.

When did you initially invest? What month and year?

November 21, 2008. I owned it in my stock market project for my investments class in my monkey portfolio. I was tracking all of the stocks in that portfolio procrastinating from my giant company report during my downtime, saw it at $8.77 a share and bought in.

No, it hasn't been awful at all. It has had bad shows, but overall it's been decent.
Compared to what?

At least Raw is easy to watch on fast forward. Cena and Swagger rocked the house and... then nothing I'm willing to give any serious time or investment happened. So I get to go to bed early. Easy as pie.

Oh, and call me crazy but the guy who calls out Shareholders more than anyone else seems to be more concerned with drawing casuals than anyone else in this thread is... This amuses me.

Happy holidays everyone. You can thank John Cena for the only segment tonight that didn't suck.

Really? I always preferred their 95 match actually. The original match is a classic, but I think it's importance in wrestling history has kind of made it a bit overrated. It's not the greatest ladder match of all time IMO. I liked their 95 encounter more, though that may have had to do with me being an HBK mark as a kid and he won that one.

Oh and have you been doing your Royal Rumble reviews? Have you gotten to 91? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the opener, which I'm currently watching randomly.

I know I'm a little late, but the WWE stole the Tiger skit from the Jaguars. A few weeks ago when the Jags played the Houston Texans game, and guy in a tiger suit starting hitting on the cheerleaders, then a woman with a golf club chased him out of the stadium. The Jags did it much better.

But RAW wasn't too bad tonight. The Little People's Court made me laugh a few times, and Jericho's face at the end was hilarious.

Divas match
Little People Court
6 man: Legacy vs. Kofi, Henry, Bourne
Cena vs. Swagger
Little People
Something that I don't remember
Sheamus vs. MVP
Recap (as in reairing) little people court
Show wants Santa to let Jericho come back
Little people and Horny attack Jerishow (Santa was Jericho)
DX makes the save and Horny is the new mascot

Oh and Sheamus vs. Cena next week.

I admit I was sort of playing Devil's Advocate tonight, but a lot of you guys overreacted to it... REALLY overreacted to it. You can't sit there and tell me what went on was more offensive or terrible than some of the stuff they've done in the past.

Dude, you were bitching that we were discussing the show on a live discussion thread. What, did you expect no one to respond to your crap logic?

All I was saying was that there has been a lot worse than Midget Court in WWE, TNA, and WCW. If there's something that has me angry or annoyed at what I'm watching, I change the channel rather than sit there and talk about how angry I am on a forum.

Then I change it back after 5 minutes or so.

How do you know some of us didn't do that? I didn't, because I knew the segment would have been over in 10 minutes, and it's not worth the risk of me missing something important and going through the work to see what happened on wwe.com.

But then again, I shouldn't even have to explain this shit to you. This is a live discussion thread. It exists so we can discuss what we're watching on Raw.

I quite agree. They better get one hell of a dark main event for all this.
We did not.

After the cameras went off, Big Show and Jericho got back up to fight DX as they were posing. Jericho got a SCM and after selling for a moment on the floor, marched to the back pretty fast; pretty sure he was pissed about what he had to be involved with last night. Big Show got the SCM+Pedigree, then all the midgets piled on him along with DX. A referee came out (?) and counted, as if doing so made it a legitimate dark main event. Justin Roberts told us, "Thanks for coming!"

Biggest pops of the night were for Cena, including every damn time he came on the screen (even in Wrestlemania 25/26 promos). Kofi also did well, as did Yoshi Tatsu, believe it or not, who was getting huge pops and even chants during his Superstars match. For my money, the Court segments really hurt DX's pop-potential last night. God knows there were plenty of kids with glowsticks there whose tickets were their Christmas present; I think some of the viewers/WZ readers should keep that in mind. Think about that show and who it was for. At the same time, I think a good deal of the kids were even sick of the shit.

Biggest heat of the night went to the second airing of the Little People's Court, bar none. Tons of boos, boring chants, and "we want wrestling." I'm talking Vickie heat--possibly worse.

I will admit RAW was pretty bad, but I was so excited to be at my first event that I got over it for the most part. Those Court segments were too much for even my excitement, though. I literally had my face in my hands at one point. Ugh.

and THAT's how you can tell that Vince doesn't care about what the fan wants. or I'm sorry the WWE Universe..... you can't even say Fan anymore good god.

That's because Vince knows what's better for everyone else than they do. He will tell his viewers what to think, one way or another. Clearly Creative knew it was going to be a disaster going on, as all reports indicated. But what Vince wants, Vince gets, and he is going to show everyone who's boss one way or another.

But this is also another clear sign of who is really running the Creative Department, and it certainly isn't Stephanie. It's Vince McMahon himself, the man who as CEO and Chairman of a company, feels the need to be on headset the entire time during the broadcast feeding lines to his commentators. I'm just sorry I gave Stephanie a lot of static over the years, as most fans did. I should have known better, with how controlling Vince is of everything. She doesn't even go on the road anymore for the shows. If it's really Vince who runs the show anyway who dictates to her everything he wants on TV, I can't blame her. She can now just stay home and take care of the kids. It's no wonder Shane left, as well.

I feel sorry for Cole and Lawler who had to put on fake laughs at these segments, or else face Vince's wrath. That's why Jesse would never fit in the Broadcast Booth, because he wouldn't allow Vince to push him around that easily.

Yeah the announcers have the hardest time. That and in big matches that suck that they have to keep pushing as epic like in the 03 Rumble with Steiner and HHH where it was a disaster but they pushed it anyway.

The reairing was one of the dumbest things they could have possibly done. We had already seen the parts that were mildly amusing (prouct placement, HBK getting dragged under the ring) and the reaired the parts that were unfunny, offensive, and overall boring.

None of it had any entertainment value the second time around, whatsoever. The entire segment was a waste of time both times anyway.

I like vignettes, but only vignettes that advance characters or stories, like the old Shopping With The Million Dollar Man vignettes and the like.
