Right place, rung time

LONDON – Just nine days before Christian's epic Ladder Match with Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules, Captain Charisma and Edge crashed the aristocratic Superstar's mock Retirement Party for The Rated-R Superstar. Meanwhile, Big Show & Kane captured the WWE Tag Team Championships with an earth-shattering victory over The Corre.

Alberto Del Rio threw a Retirement Party for Edge
One week after Edge's forced retirement from WWE, Alberto Del Rio ridiculed the 11-time World Champion with a mock Retirement Party. His "presents" included a grandfather clock for Edge to watch his life tick away, adult diapers, a "heavier" version of former WWE Diva Lita for companionship, a walker and even a mobility scooter, complete with handicap parking pass.

Moments later, The Ultimate Opportunist himself surprised both Del Rio and the WWE Universe, emerging to humorously address the "party poopers." When Brodus Clay stomped up the ramp to take him out, Christian emerged from under the ring, striking his aristocratic adversary's protégé with a ladder. After slamming Del Rio into the barricade, Captain Charisma climbed the rungs of destiny in the center of the ring, grabbing the vacant World Heavyweight Championship suspended high above the London masses. Will the same thing happen when Christian faces his elitist foe at Extreme Rules in nine days?

Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett def. Kofi Kingston in an Intercontinental Championship Match
When Ezekiel Jackson leveled Wade Barrett – presumable trying to attack his fellow Corre member's challenger Kofi Kingston – the English Superstar told him to leave ringside. Then, in the heat of battle, Barrett blasted his high-octane opponent with a brutal kick. When Kofi tried to counter the champion's follow-up assault, Barrett used his presence of mind – and the nearby ring ropes – to trap Kingston, grabbing the three-count to successfully defend his Intercontinental Title.

Drew McIntyre def. Chris Masters
After preventing Chris Masters from cinching in the Master Lock – by kicking off the ropes and sending his chiseled opponent crashing backward to the canvas – Drew McIntyre executed the Future Shock DDT for the impressive win.

Big Show & Kane def. WWE Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship
Big Show & Kane grabbed championship glory together for the second time in their illustrious careers, triumphing over Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships. After The Big Red Monster and The World's Largest Athlete punished the title holders, Big Show hurled Gabriel out of the ring and onto Ezekiel Jackson. The giant then turned his attention back to "The One Man Rock Band," chokeslamming him to the canvas for the victory.

Jack Swagger def. Trent Barreta
After a smug "Sir" Michael Cole reminisced about his knighting ceremony four days before on Monday Night Raw – where he made WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross kiss his feet – his Extreme Rules tag team partner Jack Swagger emerged. The All-American American dominated Trent Barreta, finishing him off with his dreaded ankle lock.

Michelle McCool and Layla attended another couples therapy session
The dysfunctional turmoil between Team LayCool personified itself during the second week of their couples therapy.

Rey Mysterio def. Cody Rhodes
Prior to an extremely personal WrestleMania rematch with Rey Mysterio, a very biter Cody Rhodes handed out paper bag masks to the London members of the WWE Universe, urging them to hide all their lying eyes and their ugliness. Although The Ultimate Underdog used his incredible athleticism to pick up the quick pin on the self-conscious Superstar, Rhodes unleashed a vicious attack on The Master of the 619 after the bell, initiating a brutal battle between them that spread all through the United Kingdom crowd. The carnage ended when the second-generation Superstar hit Mysterio with a devastating Cross Rhodes onto the hard ringside floor. It was later announced that the explosive rivalry between Mysterio and Rhodes will be settled in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at Extreme Rules.

Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio (World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match)

In one of the most stunning moments in WWE history, on the April 11 edition of Raw, Edge announced that he was retiring due to injury. Then, just days later on SmackDown, The Rated-R Superstar officially surrendered his title. With the title vacant, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long arranged for a No. 1 Contender’s World Heavyweight Championship Battle Royal. The winner would face Alberto Del Rio, who already earned a match with Edge at Extreme Rules by beating Christian in a No. 1 Contender's Match on the April 8 edition of SmackDown. Surviving the 20-man war was none other than Edge’s lifelong friend, Christian, who eliminated Jack Swagger. Clearly, Edge and Del Rio do not like each other. However, the disdain between Christian and The Mexican Aristocrat is downright palpable. After all, it was Del Rio who put Captain Charisma out of commission last fall with a torn pectoral muscle due to a session in his Cross Armbreaker. Del Rio has continuously claimed that it is his destiny to win the World Title. However, what about Christian? Some would argue that he has been preparing his entire career for this moment. What would be more appropriate than following in the footsteps of his lifelong friend, The Ultimate Opportunist, in his specialty – a Ladder Match? One thing is for certain. There will be a new World Heavyweight Champion crowned the night WWE goes extreme.

Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes (Falls Count Anywhere Match)

For most Superstars, winning is everything. But not for Cody Rhodes. Even with a victory over Rey Mysterio on The Grandest Stage of Them All, Rhodes is still not happy. The disfigured Superstar has vowed not to rest until he does to Mysterio what he did to him. Rhodes' inner turmoil about his outward appearance all began on the Jan. 21 edition of SmackDown. That was the fateful night when Mysterio blasted Rhodes with a 619. But, because of an exposed leg brace, the maneuver proved even more damaging than ever. The collision instantly broke Rhode’s nose. In the week’s following Rhode’s WrestleMania victory, he grew more and more anxious to injure Mysterio. He went as far as bringing Mysterio’s family into the mix by saying he wants his own children to be horrified at the sight of his face. That, Rhodes claims, is the only way he will feel vindicated. Just nine days before Extreme Rules, tensions flared even further as the two battled it out among the SmackDown crowd in London, England. Now that Mysterio has been sent to Monday Night Raw as part of the 2011 WWE Draft, Extreme Rules may just present the last opportunity that the twisted Rhodes has to extract his revenge. In the unpredictable environment of a Falls Count Anywhere Match, can the self-conscious and bitter Rhodes follow through on his desire to disfigure Mysterio? Or, will The Master of the 619 drive Rhodes deeper into despair with a rematch victory on the pay-per-view stage?

Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross vs. Michael Cole & Jack Swagger

“May we have your attention, please!” Personal animosity is about to evolve a WrestleMania rematch into an “Extreme” tag team showdown as Michael Cole – the Raw General Manager’s unofficial spokesman – teams with former friend Jack Swagger to battle Jerry “The King” Lawler & fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross at Extreme Rules. In a clash the WWE Universe might have never foreseen months ago, the “vintage” Raw announce team of Lawler & Ross reunite in an attempt to finally silence the audacious mouth of Cole, the self-described “Voice of WWE.” WrestleMania should have been a monumental moment in the life of Jerry Lawler. Not only was it his first time in his illustrious career that The King would compete at The Show of Shows, but the regal Superstar would finally be given the chance to get some payback on his ultra-cocky fellow Monday Night Raw announcer. For months, Cole ridiculed The King at every pass, stepping way over the line as he mercilessly mocked Lawler’s family. With his vicious trainer and former World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Swagger, at his side, Cole attacked the WWE Hall of Famer week after week. On The Grandest Stage of Them All – with “WWE Tough Enough” host “Stone Cold” Steve Austin as special guest referee – not even The All-American American could stop Lawler from making his outspoken opponent tap to the ankle lock. However, the anonymous Raw GM revoked Lawler’s moment of retribution, reversing the decision to award the WrestleMania victory to Cole by disqualification. Just 24 hours after returning to WWE to call part of WrestleMania, Ross rejoined the Raw commentary team, but found himself in Cole’s bold crosshairs as well. With Lawler trapped in Swagger’s clutches, the leader of the Cole Miners attacked J.R. and covered the iconic announcer with his own barbecue sauce. The Voice of WWE made yet another mistake the following week when Lawler's critical victory drove Cole to slap his All-American ally, driving a rift between the two men who will team up on pay-per-view. The gloves – and headsets – have definitely come off for Extreme Rules on May 1. Will the years-old bond between Lawler & J.R. be enough to take down a hated colleague in Cole, despite his rocky pairing with a skilled former World Heavyweight Champion in Swagger?

Catch Extreme Rules live on Sunday, May 1 at 8 ET / 5 PT, only on pay-per-view.

HOLY SHIT! Were those pops real? Kofi is over like a MOTHER!

And Sheamus has always been a part of Monday night RAW? O rly?

I don't understand what the fuck they're doing with Kofi. I mean, he won last week, now he gets totally fuck annihilated by Sheamus? Hopefully he gets a nice steady push as the number 3 or 4 face of RAW.

My theory is they see how incredibly over he is, so they're floating him until they can come up with something for him to do. They don't want to push him too hard, so they annihilate him every once in a while. Makes sense, right?
