If you look at things in isolation - why would Vince ever worry about CM Punk walking with the title if he was going to crown a new champ the next night anyway?

It wasn't about losing the title itself which can easily be vacated and replaced - it was the "embarassment" Vince would get when Punk showed up in New Japan or TNA or ROH
