WWE RAW LD 3/14/2011 - A Career Could Be Washed Ashore

All this talk of Reviews just tells me I need to get off my ass and get at least 1 'Mania review up before 'Mania in a few weeks.

The whole JR/Cole/Brian Lawler/Jack Swagger/King segment was probably my favorite part of the show. Just to hear JR say "BAH GAWD!" again, even if it was in the midst of an ankle lock.

Also, Snooki at 'Mania? Good move publicity-wise, but man, that match might suck. I wish they'd just let Morrison and Ziggler have their own separate singles match and just have LayCool face Snooki and Trish, would be much better.

Good Raw. Just read the LD, and I'm actually laughing at those who think the Punk/Orton storyline sucks. Are you kidding me? They are easily the two most intense players on Raw right now. I think the booking could be a bit more creative, but they're playing their roles perfectly.

Or they could just have Morrison w/ Snooki & Trish in his corner vs. Ziggs w/ Vickie and Laycool in his corner:shrug:

I'm with you. Look, I'll be the first to shit on this if Orton just keeps dominating and wins at Mania. But I have faith that they will do something unexpected to even the odds before Mania.

That's what I'm thinking. They have two episodes of Raw left, and can use Smackdown if needed.

And yeah, let's blame Orton for being booked to look strong. Fucking ridiculous.

I just thought of something isn't it risky putting Snookie infront of a Wrestlemania crowd because they are normally smarky as fuck.

Oh yeah, that's why I can't wait to see it. Wrestlemania is a big smark crowd, so they're going to SHIT ALL OVER HER. Especially since it's in freaking Georgia.

This should get them some good publicity though, the star of the number one reality show wrestling at Wrestlemania. This kind of blows TNA's whole JWowww and Angelina thing right out of the water.

Awesome show, and fuck the haters. I don't watch nor do I have any desire to wach Jersey Shore and I thought Snooki was great tonight.

Really good show. Nothing to complain about tonight. Snooki didn't even stink up the show. I'm not crazy about the six man/diva tag at Mania with Snooki, but what can you do.

No one's blaming Orton for how he's booked... he's just an uninteresting character to me. He fucking sucks as a babyface, basically.

And it IS ******ed how this storyline has progressed. I didn't see anyone try to even attempt to defend this:

So it makes sense for each and every week for Punk and his cronies to stand at the top of the ramp while Orton takes 5 fucking minutes to prepare to punt a guy's head off, and then run down to the ring once he's done it? That makes sense?

No, what would make sense is if Punk and co. hit the ring as soon as the match was over.

Punk has looked like a gullible ****** all throughout this feud.

Oh, but since Punk and Orton put on intense faces, it all okay. Please...

The storyline sucks, bottom line.

They are showing pure hatred for one another. Aside from having a decent amount of time on Raw a week ago, they aren't being given much time to develop this story. I'd say it's going pretty well given they time they're allowed to work with.

The storyline sucks, bottom line.

I suppose they could just stare at each other like Triple H and The Undertaker. Maybe they could go into complete robot-mode like The Miz? Or hey, they could even go the Del Rio/Edge route, where one guy babbles about his destiny for two months straight. Outside of Cena and Rock, who aren't even having a match, the build hasn't been great for any of these matches.

And that's cool, but when one of them is completely dominating the other, it kind of cancels out "hatred" since one looks like the Incredible Hulk and the other guy looks like Barry Horowitz. Would anyone care if Horowitz hated the Incredible Hulk in a movie? No, because everyone watching would know that Horowitz wouldn't stand a chance in hell in a one-on-one fight against the Hulk.

I know there are still a couple of weeks left for building this thing, but so far my opinion is that this entire storyline has blown, and I couldn't be less interested in their upcoming match, since right now it's looking like it's going to be pure domination by Randy Orton.

Do you see me harping up those storylines as something special? No, so I don't know why you're throwing this in my face like it's going to affect my argument one way or the other. I pretty much agree with everything you said (though I think Miz has stepped his game up these last couple of weeks).

Outside of Cena and Rock, who aren't even having a match, the build hasn't been great for any of these matches.

Nah, Cena vs. Miz has had good build-up, and the Lawler/Cole stuff has been absolutely spectacular. I agree though that everything else is lackluster.

Anyone hating on The Miz for his performances the past couple of weeks are fools, he has now shown he can be a serious WWE champion.

Orton is boring as fuck. His in-ring work has turned to dogshit and he does indeed suck as a face. He just is clueless as to how to work as a babyface. Man I can't believe how bad Orton has become, he was so awesome when he first debuted, all full of piss and vinegar. Now he's as sterile and bland as they come.

I'm sure Punk will drag a good match out of him though.

Punk has been dragging Orton kicking and screaming through this feud. Let's see what Punk has done.

1) Attacked Orton at Mania.
2) Become a cult like leader of Nexus
3) Made public the fact that he is using Nexus to further his own career
4) Cut an awesome promo about how all of this is about revenge for Unforgiven 08.
5) Makes super intense faces

And what has Orton done?

1) Punted every member of Nexus
2) Makes super intense faces

I have no doubt that Punk will once again drag Orton, kicking and screaming, through their match at Wrestlemania.

X nailed it, he just doesn't know how to be a face.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see him being a face. He definitely plays more of a tweener role right now. The only thing that has really changed is that he doesn't cheat to win anymore.

To each his own I suppose, but I'm thoroughly enjoying this feud. Just because you can't call what's going to happen beforehand doesn't make it bad. If the PPV were this Sunday, I'd understand all the hate. But with 2 weeks left, you guys are extremely premature with the judgment.

Punk wanted Orton to take out Nexus as revenge for their attack on him when they debuted. Then he wll take out Orton at Mania for Unforgiven. Two birds, one stone.

He hasn't dominated Punk, at all. He's dominating the henchmen. Punk looks like any other leader of a heel stable--except his plan has backfired. If Orton completely dominates Punk on the next two episodes of Raw, leading into Mania, I will agree he's being made to look too tough.

I know there are still a couple of weeks left for building this thing, but so far my opinion is that this entire storyline has blown, and I couldn't be less interested in their upcoming match, since right now it's looking like it's going to be pure domination by Randy Orton.

Come on, JMT. You know for a fact that not only will Orton not dominate at Mania, but the guy who takes the lead going into Mania usually loses. Like I said earlier, I can't see Orton dominating the next two weeks, but if he does, I highly doubt he'll win at Mania.

I wasn't throwing anything in your face, I was just making a point.

Nah, Cena vs. Miz has had good build-up

I think The Rock being thrown in has made it more entertaining than it would have been without him, but the one-on-one match between Miz and Cena has taken a total backseat.

and the Lawler/Cole stuff has been absolutely spectacular.

Yeah, this has been great, too. Why do I think it's been great? I've bought into these guys absolutely hating one another, same with Punk/Orton. Randy Orton and CM Punk have been at the top of their game since Elimination Chamber. Both guys are interesting right now, and they have great chemistry. Look at both men hitting the mat last night, perfect timing. If that didn't cause a bit of a mark out moment, you must just straight up hate one of the guys, and I'm guessing that's Orton.

For me, it's all about acting, making it believable. Both guys are performing very well. Facial expressions--this term is being tossed around like it's a bad thing. Both guys have been perfect in this sense, and it's added a shitload of intensity. Intensity is key in this kind of personal feud.

Punk and Orton have barely had any physical contact, so it's all good in my book.

But on the topic of facial expressions, Orton is just goofy. Come on, Nick.

As I said in Doc's thread Punk has become the Cerebral Assassin of this generation, I'm sure that twisted lil' bastard has something up his sleeve for Orton, the next few weeks should be interesting
