I hope it’s not Kane’s last Royal Rumble, but I also thought last year wasn’t Edge’s last WrestleMania either. I hope Kane enters the Royal Rumble and breaks Shawn Michaels overall record. Records were meant to be broken.

I would book Kane to enter at number 1 and as a SuperStar enters the ring, Kane tosses beats them and eliminates them before the next one comes out, until Cena enters at number 30. I would like to see a great back and forth ending with Kane finally winning the Royal Rumble and literally eliminating and defeating all 29 other SuperStars.

If anyone would forfeit their WM Main Event Championship spot to face the Undertaker instead, it would be Kane. If Taker is going to have a 3rd WM match against Kane, HBK, or HHH, I would rather it be Kane. It could go down as the most boring Royal Rumble ever, or the most exciting, depending on how you feel about the Big Red Machine.

Kane? I know he is the big red monster and all that now but he isn't in his prime. If he was going to win, it should have been in 1999 - 2005. I personally think it's too late for Kane.

Dark Horses - Switchfoot

In my opinion, the best PPV theme WWE have picked in a long time. Obviously this thread is more about personal choice, but I was getting seriously annoyed by all the R&B themes the WWE were picking. Especially at SS, I mean, really? Who though it'd be a good idea to use Good Feeling?

Anyway, I really think this is the kind of music WWE needs to go for, it's energetic and gives the event that "big fight feel". In fact, I think they could use this as a new Raw/Smackdown theme, "Burn it to the Ground" and "Know your Enemy" are both at least 2 or 3 years old.

So, my questions are:

1. Which genre of music fits WWE events the best? (e.g. Rock or R&B)
2. How much do you like this years Rumble theme?
3. Do you think Raw/Smackdown needs a new theme? Would you use this? If not, what?

Great song imo
American rock should always be wwe themes but know your enemy and any nickleback song is crap, just my opinion tho, wouldnt be surprised if the next theme was justin bieber though

I'm a pretty big fan of Switchfoot and this is a great song. It gives me chills everytime i hear it. Personally, i don't mind WWE using Rap/R&B songs for PPV theme's, cause it's not a certain type of genre that pumps someone up, it's the tempo/beat/how it sounds (plus i listen to rap/R&B as much as i do Rock/metal/whatever)

I actually like the song but listen to its message of it. The Dark Horses. Makes you think that a dark horse is gonna win the rumble....Example of a dark horse (meaning someone who is good enough to win but no one will think they will win.) would be wade barrett or even cody rhodes.

I prefer the rock/metal themes over the hiphop/rnb ones. I listen to everything tho. Except dubstep, I can't stand it.

This years RR-theme is really great.

Smackdown needs a new theme BADLY.

My personal opinion is that the winner is going to be (entrant number 24) Wade Barrett!

I have a good feeling that 2012 will be his year of Main event status and he will conclude his program with Sheamus at WM for the gold.

I would like somebody like Cody to win but i can see no other outcome than Wade or Sheamus, either way they will be against each other at mania for the WHC

It's alright. I don't mind the rap/R&B ones, either. Some of them anyway.

I hate Nickelback, but the RAW theme isn't bad. If anything I'd like to see a change just because we've had that theme for a pretty long while.

SmackDown's theme needs a change, like, yesterday. No Green Day song makes sense as a wrestling theme.

1. Personally, i think Rock fits WWE PPV themes better although i don't mind the RnB ones too much either. To be fair WWE usually pick their themes well.

2. Yes i really like the RR 2012 theme, it's a catchy song and fits the bill as a PPV theme

3. I personally like Raw's theme a lot, always gets me hyped. But i hate Smackdown's, they need a song with more energy to get people pumped for the show. I know they never will but they should bring back the "i want it all" Smackdown theme from 2003 i think. I absolutely LOVED that theme.

1. Which genre of music fits WWE events the best? (e.g. Rock or R&B)

As far as to which FITS WWE by fan opinion I would go with Rock songs like this. Songs like these sell the fact that 2 guys want to tear each other apart tin a feud and gets your blood running after watching the pre-match video package. As far as which is most beneficial to WWE, R&B should be used for big events to give broad audiences a recognizable song.

2. How much do you like this years Rumble theme?

It looks like it will go well with the Rumble's "Let's count the ways" video. This seems to be catchy enough to get you going and excited prior to the Rumble match which is it's ultimate purpose. A fine Rumble theme for me.

3. Do you think Raw/Smackdown needs a new theme? Would you use this? If not, what?

No, they are fine as they are. 2 recognizable band's songs in the intro and you will get a more casual fans to stay. They don't care if you like it or not, it's a good business decision. They use R&B at big events like Survivor Series and Wrestlemania not because it fits the feud from a fan's perspective but because it's a song that defines a media spectacular that Wrestlemania is by appealing to major audiences.

It really depends on the events. Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series all got hip hop songs like Tinie Tempah, Cee Lo, and Flo Rida. But, I think the best royal rumble theme was 2010. Hero by Skillet. It fit the event very well and the promos they made with this song was awesome.

I'm looking for some straight up heavy metal music. Something pissed off which lets you know somethings about to go down tonight. Please no green day and for christ sakes, no nickleback. I'd rather watch jim ross in a speedo covered in bbq sause run through a slip and slide for a minute and a half.

1. Definately rock music. Until recent years it was always rock songs. I don't mind wrestlemania having an alternate song that's RNB but thats it.

2. Do like switchfoot, don't necessarily love that song.

3. Smackdown always seems to get shitty themes lately, early 2000s it always had good themes. But that green day theme song is just aweful.

RAW's theme is excellent, pumps me up.

On a side note, one of the best theme songs in recent memory was "your going down" by the sick puppies for extreme rules 2009 (i think, batista-orton headlined)

IMO Mick Foley could return for the rumble (Perhaps more than once as his other personas) that would be cool.

Actually had that happen in SvR 07, was funny as all get out till I eliminated all four in rapid succession, lol.

Anyways, I see RVD making a surprise return a the Rumble yet again, though this time as a permanent return, though WWE did say no outside talent, so we'll see about that. As for injuries, Christian, Orton, Mysterio, maybe Nash and Taker? Dunno yet, we'll see. Goldust is a possibility too.

they could have easily said that to throw fans off. if rvd is signed to a 2 day deal on sunday afternoon, then technically he isn't OUTSIDE talent. he is officially a WWE employee.

i think they meant more of that guy who was trying to get in who had that disability.

it kills me that i don't know what his name is or what his disability was.

Jericho and Kane have never won the Rumble, so I get the feeling it would be one of those guys.

Since its in St. Louis, Orton's hometown, I think Orton could get screwed over at the end by Jericho - solidifying Jericho's slow heel turn. It would make sense for a Jericho v. Punk main event at WM.

Good shout, Jeritroll94! I hadn't thought about that. I'd love to see an Outlaws return in the Rumble to assess the reaction. Just have them one after the other (or put someone in between).

I've thought for a while that they could be the credibility and glue that the Tag Team division so desperately needs. They need some prestige and real quality to help drag the division along. Dogg can seriously talk, and the old skool crowd will love it, and I even think new fans not familiar with the Outlaws would take them seriously, too. Afterall, they've embraced much lesser teams/stars over the years, so why not the Outlaws, too?

Well we know that orton is coming back for sure now. I can see mysterio returning. RVD, Foley/Cactus Jack/Mankind/Dude Love. I would love to see the outlaws come back. I would mark out so hard if the deadman came back as entry #30 and won the rumble match. That would be so epic :)

"Oh, you didn't know?!?! Your ass betta' be callin'" Road Dogg and Mr Ass returning for the Rumble would be too freaking awesome to ever happen! From a personal standpoint, the nostalgia of those two coming back would be worth the price of the PPV alone.

I'm not sure about Rob Van Dam's contract status with Impact Wrestling right now but I'm sure if he were right now he'd say something like, "don't worry about it, man..." but we've all heard recently they're at least interested in picking up Mr Monday Night again. That'd be another cool return to see.

I was on YouTube today and I saw something about "Goldberg returning at the Rumble" (sorry, I have no link) and in it he talks about how he expects to be wrestling "...by the end of 2011." I'm kinda a newbie at YouTube so I couldn't tell if it was horseshit, but I do remember Goldberg saying he wanted his son to be able to see him wrestle (hint to Goldberg: WWE sells DVDs!). Still sounds like a bit of a long shot, but stranger things have happened.

Here's hoping this years Rumble isn't a shitty one!

what counts as Royal Rumble surprise!!! RVD and goldust are strong possibilities. Orton i know will be there and will win it so its not a surprise there at all!! Maybe ADR will return early. Christian is a possibility!! Taker will not be there wont see him till around EC time. Im thinking Rey mysterio as the top surprise!!

Im watching Raw and I see the promo hyping the Royal Rumble match which is most likely the one their going to play this sunday and correct if Im wrong but isn't it the same one they played last year? I remember when they used to have a promos for the rumble match that were specific to the storylines going on at the time or at least remotely had so entertaining authenticity in it.

You can't tell me that the promos of today even compare to these. So im asking you why are the promos now for the rumble so generic?

For me it's simple. They don't care enough. And for two reasons.

A) The titles are of less importance. Back in the day it was all about winning to headline WrestleMania, to face the ONE champion and be the best. It feels as though with two championships, winning the Rumble is less meaningful, as there will be ANOTHER major championship match. Del Rio won a 40 man rumble and was in the first match. Also Mania is now more about the Streak in my opinion. Why? Because there is only ONE streak not two.

B) The MITB overshadows it. The popularity is undoubtable. A person can cash in at ANY time and tease it throughout the year constantly. Apparently the MITB PPV, is being scrapped and replaced with just one match at WrestleMania. This is better as the significance of one person running around with the briefcase means it will mean more for the winner.

It's a shame as the Rumble was one of my favourite PPV's. Although I hope an up and comer wins such as Barrett or Sheamus, it still doesn't take away the fact the match needs star power to keep everyone guessing. Lets hope Cena, Kane, Orton, HHH maybe the Undertaker are all apart. I still see Punk getting screwed then winning the Rumble however.

I think it has to do with making the rumble feel like anyone can win it. Having specific promos for the rumble almost makes it as though the WWE is anointing a select few to win it. Of course we have our favorites but its always nice to make it seem like that anything can happen.

That was a problem I had with the 2009 Rumble, the opening video had Orton plastered all over it with him punting Mr. McMahon. I didn't like that, sure it was obvious Orton was the favorite but they just made it so predictable that anyone else but Orton had less than a 1% chance to win it.
