Wrestlemania 27 - The Miz (c) vs. John Cena - WWE Championship

I can't wait for this match-up. They've had a pretty good history, Cena & Miz. Throw in The People's Champ and you have amazing promos, great hype and a good Wrestlemania match all together. Everyone wants to see Rock vs. Cena. It's got as much hype as Rock vs. Hogan had. These are two of my favorite wrestlers of all time. The Rock got me into professional wrestling, and Cena kept me in it. I'm a die-hard Cena fan. Then we have The Miz. I think he's a cool dude, he's came so far and I respect the hell out of him for pushing past all the naysayers and doing his thing. He rose from a star on the Real World and hosting Diva Search contests, to the WWE Champion and Main Eventer! That's awesome. I think Miz will retain somehow, maybe by The Rock screwing Cena out of the title. It's too hard to tell what will really go down, but best believe it's gonna be spectacular.

The build for this match has been kind of weird if you ask me. There are times where I don't care about The Miz, because I'm so concerned with what's going on with The Rock and Cena. Then again, there are times where I do focus on what's going on between Miz and Cena, but I'm still thinking about The Rock's reaction, so I still won't care too much about the stuff going on between Cena and Miz.

The Miz's new WWE Championship belt makes me really think about the outcome of this match. Why would WWE give Miz a customized belt so close to Wrestlemania? Does this mean Miz will retain at Mania? I just think it would be strange to give a guy a personal belt, and then have him drop it weeks later.

Miz's new WWE Championship does make me think hard about the outcome of this match, but I'm going to have to go with John Cena here. Cena going for or defending a World Title at Wrestlemania has become a given over the years, and Cena usually walks away with the gold at the big show. I know there have been reports of WWE wanting to put Miz over big time at Wrestlemania, but I can't bet against Cena at Wrestlemania. I just can't.

As far as the match goes, it should be pretty solid. I'm not expecting a classic Mania World Championship match from these two, but I do think Cena and Miz can deliver an entertaining match at Wrestlemania.

As a Cena/Rock fan, I can't wait to see how the Miz/Cena turns match turns out. It has been a pretty good story up to this point and some kind of swerve is sure to happen. I don't see Cena coming out with the title, simply because they've put so much into establishing Miz as a credible main event heel. I don't see it as a clean victory, maybe interference from A. Riley, but he will somehow escape with a victory.

I would find it really hard to see Miz win the match. Cena is one of if not the company's biggest star. Unless they have absolute fatih in Miz, which, I'm not sure they do, there's no way Cena is losing.

Now if Miz does win, (and I'd be happy if he does), He would more than likely continue his feud with Cena at the next PPV. I don't see Miz being a long term champ. A few mor ppvs and then he'll be done, he won't hold the belt for a year. No chance of that.

As we all know The Miz faces John Cena at Wrestlemania for the WWE title. I'm saying right now the Miz will win the match still being champion after this. Now I know how absurd this may sound, but there are certain things in place to make this happen. Note that I am not a Miz mark I am just giving my reasons on why Miz wins at Mania.

The Miz needs this win. He has retained the title plenty but he still hasn't proven himself champion in the eyes of the WWE Universe. If he gets a win over John Cena by any means he has cemented himself as an established champion. Even if he was to win with help it's still a cementing wins in front of the WWE fans. I know it is not exactly the same as this event but John Cena lost several matches this past wrestling year due to interference. What did it do? It put over everyone of those superstars who messed with Cena. Miz still needs to be put over and this is the oppurtunity of a lifetime to establish the Miz as a Main eventer. This match is a stepping stone towards the future. You have many superstars that will be leaving WWE soon and you need to establish superstars. This is one way in making sure this clearly happens.

John Cena will not be focused. Let me think who is the Guest Host of Mania? Oh that's right, the same person Cena told to blow him. Is it a coincidence that they will both be in the same place at the same time and happen to be feuding with each other? I think not. I know you could say the same about the Miz and the Rock but the scenario is different in that the Miz and Rock have no history. I think the Rock gets involved in this match somehow allowing the Miz to win. This is a credible win for the Miz and it will be believable in the eyes of the WWE Universe. Even if it is for a second where Cena turns his back on the Miz to stare down Rock from afar and Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. I believe the Rock VS Cena is a match we might possibly see in the future and what a better way to help fuel this feud.

Miz is awesome. Well that's not exactly the point on why the Miz will win but it does divulge into it. The Miz has been built up from a United States Champion to A United States Champion and tag Champion, to Mr. Money in the Bank, to WWE Champion. He clearly is putting in the effort that is needed to become champion and remain champion. He even has his own apprentice and he isn't even really an established star yet. If Cena wins this all that will be wasted in order for Cena to get another Mania moment. This is the Miz's time to shine and what better place then the grandest stage if them all. He has media connections that would help advertise the WWE so much if he was able to retain the title against another major icon John Cena. This is gold for Vince and I'm sure he knows it. The WWE has invested so much in the Miz and there just milking the money now.

It adds change. In my final point I would like to sum everything up to it adds change. Everyone thinks without a shadow of a doubt Cena will win. That is way too predicatable. They have cena getting sympathy for having a rough year and he's Supercena so they expect him to win anyway where as the Miz is written off as unable to beat Cena. Back when they first faced off at the Bash Miz came out every week saying how he is better than Cena and has a winning record against Cena. Well Cena won the actual match and is up 1-0. It's time for Miz to even the score.

In the words of the Miz " I'm 1-0, 17 wins away from tying the Undertaker"

Here's an idea. John Cena goes over the Miz clean after an epic battle, with the Miz showing huge fight, grit and resilience, but eventually Cena makes him tap out to the STF. Rock's music hits, he comes down, stares down Cena, a whole bunch of macho posturing ensues for the next minute. Then the Rock sticks out his hand - and Cena shakes it, and the Rock raises Cena's hand in celebration, and the place goes nuts.

And then Cena turns around and AAs Rocky, sending the place even nuttier, setting up the biggest heel turn of all time, and sending the forthcoming Summerslam match into the stratosphere (where Rock loses, of course).

This build up ozzes the bash 09 the Miz had the upper hand and got boat raced out of the ring in about 8 minutes. I have the deep-seated fear Mike will get buried in this. He needs the win on Biggest Stage of them all and needs to be cleanish.

Last night was a huge chapter in the story of WrestleMania this year and the way that it all went down tells us a lot about The Rock and John Cena going into the big event. Personally, I thought that The Rock was a little lack-lustre last night and that is to be expected. Who is going to be around after WrestleMania? Well, it is definitely not going to be The Rock, so why not have John Cena get the better of him just this once? It will put Cena over as the guy who owned the Rock and will mean that The Rock will be involved with WrestleMania on a more hands-on approach. Seems like a win-win situation to me.

The match itself, I really see going the way of The Miz but anything can happen at this point. It is no secret that The Rock doesn't like Cena and the altercation between the two on Raw showed me that there is still a lot of bad-blood between the two that has only been exacerbated by what went down at the end of Raw. Both of these guys have long since passes the respect threshold and now you get the feeling that they just want to throw down and see who the bigger man is.

I fully expect The Rock to be involved in the main event at WrestleMania and I think it will be to screw John Cena out of the Championship. Then again, it could be that something untoward happens and Cena helps out The Rock, causing him to put Cena over with a handshake or something at the end of WrestleMania after he beats The Miz. Either way, I wouldn't expect this match to go off without a hitch and for the Rock not to be involved in one respect or another.

Here's a better idea the miz and jc have a epic battle that's has everything , but at the end the ref get's bumped by jc by accident out comes john Morrison who gives john cena the moonlight shine producing a heel turn then the rock comes out clean's house and just the miz and john cena left in the ring john cena hits the aa but their's no ref so he try's 2 revive him but out of no where rock bottom on cena....1-2-3 miz retains!! john cena comes too and gives the rock the AA!! finishing mania!! so everyone will watch the next raw too see what's happened?

In my opinion the Miz needs to win here to make him look credible but I really doubt that he will Wrestlemania is usually where the face comes out on top so if this is the last match to go on which is probable I have a hard time seeing Miz coming out on top here.

I think we are going to see a Wrestlemania 9 inspired main event. Cena will get the win over Miz, and become WWE champion. But, as Wrestlemania Host, Rock comes down, and immediately challenges Cena, which he accepts. Rock wins, becomes WWE champ, at least temporarily. Both Miz and Cena demand rematches, and at Extreme Rules (whatever PPV is replacing Backlash) we get a triple threat match between them, with Cena regaining the title from Rock, and Rock disappears for another seven years. In the long run, Cena really has to come out on top, as the current face of the WWE. Same logic as to why Rock had to beat Hogan at Wrestlemania X8.

I'm thinking Cena takes this one here. This is Wrestle fucking Mania, aka where the good guys usually reign supreme. Since I believe Alberto is gonna win his match, Cena has just got to take his. They wouldn't have two bad dudes walking outta town with the titles. It's never happened before and probably never will.

Here's how I see this one going. Cena wins then celebrates for a couple minutes, rubs it in the "we hate cena" guy's face, then over the speakers "IF YA SMELLLLL". Rock comes out and we proceed to have an epic stare down that will be remembered for ages. After milking the crowd they start to trade blows and eventually Rocky gains control with a rock bottom. He goes for the people's elbow but meanwhile Miz has recovered from his beating and comes from behind the Rock for a skull crushing finale. Miz sets it up so that when he hits the SCF Rock's head hits Cena in the nuts. The stadium would explode in hatred and then Miz would go for the people's elbow on them both at the same time and nail it. Miz is the only one left standing and gets put over huge.

I think that would accomplish all that needs to be done. The good guy gets the title, we get an epic confrontation, and Miz gets put over strong even though he lost the title.

Although I've been picturing Cena walking out of Mania with the title all this time, a part of me thinks that Rock may end up playing a role in this match. As the saying goes, payback is a bitch and I can conceivably see Rock costing Cena the match. I don't usually take tweets or whatever that wrestlers post up seriously but Rock saying he will kick Cena's ass at Mania makes me question my initial prediction.

I'm not really sure if having Cena give him an Attitude Adjustment on RAW will be enough motivation for Rock to cost him the match but I really wouldn't be surprised if it happened at this point. It could set up the potential Cena/Rock match that everyone is salivating over and gives Miz the major upset at WWE's biggest show of the year giving him major credibility and solidifying him as a main event player.

The Rock will have a part to play in this match, mu guess is Cena winning but only JUST! Because of Rock btw. We get a ref bump by Miz or Cena and Cena gets the STF and Miz starts to tap but theres no ref so Miz isn't losing. Cena gets up and sets up for the AA and then...IF YA SMELL! Rock comes running down (mic hidden btw you'll see) Cena meanwhile hits the AA and goes for the pin so he can win and get ready for Rock and then Rock decides to count the pin...1...2...IT DOSN'T MATTER IF THE ROCK COUNTS TO THREE! just like he did to angle i think and to get the crowd going, Rock restarts the match and has to make a dicision on who wins Miz or Cena he picks Cena cause inside Rock has some respect for Cena. 1...2...3 and Cena wins the title but you gotta (and I don't even think Miz v Cena will end the show) end the show with Rock hitting the Rock Bottom and the People's Elbow on John Cena! Rock will have some involvement hopefully this being it or maybe something even greater.

I hate the Miz, and no I don’t mean the type of hatred that a heel is generating when he’s doing his job. I mean “get off my tv before I change the channel” hatred. Miz does not deserve his push, period. Whoever decided to push Miz over Morrison needs to get fired. Miz talks about how he is such a great champion. Ummm, no? His alliance with Michael Cole and his so called “feud” with Jerry Lawler both make me think otherwise. He’s an awful champion who has absolutely no in-ring ability. His mic skills are good and he does a lot of talk shows, which is good for the company, but that should not be all it takes to get a championship push. I won’t even get started on the “brilliant” (sarcasm) move to make an upside down WWE logo his image. The Rock should be in this match. Seeing Cena VS The Rock would be an awesome Wrestlemania moment, and Miz does not need to be a part of it…. Now that the rant is out, let’s talk about the match. I think it will close the show. Cena will defeat Miz to shut him up and give the fans a good moment to go home with. There is no reason for Miz to retain. None. He has had an awful reign and should lose the match because Cena is actually believable as a champion and he has all sorts of heels he could feud with after this match. Miz should then get bumped back down into the midcard where he belongs. I see Rock interfering and costing Miz the title after that moment where Miz confronted Rock and Cena calling them the O brothers Overrated and Overhyped.

DAGGER’S PREDICTION:
John Cena will win the WWE Championship.

This is easily the match I'm most looking forward to. The build over the past month has been phenomenal as Miz struggles to be in the spotlight which is held by Cena and Rock, and obviously the war of words (and now a physical war as well) between Cena and Rock has been epic.

While we're not going to see the next classic Wrestlemania match between these two guys, I still think we're going to get a very suspenseful, surprising, and emotional match. Both these guys have the ability to really draw the audience into the match, and I anticipate being on the edge of my seat for the entire time.

Right now I'm thinking Miz retains because John Cena is distracted by The Rock, which would really sum up the entire program. This allows Miz to give an epic promo on Monday night about how he beat John Cena one on one at Wrestlemania, something nobody has been able to do before him. Cena can then continue his feud with The Rock which can culminate at the first non-gimmick PPV the WWE offers or perhaps SummerSlam.

Well, this match has all the credential's to be great.

The winner, that's when it's tricky. See, Cena never losses the main event, and it's Wresltemania, so yeah.

But, I don't think Del Rio is winning at Wrestlemania. It is unfortunate, but this fued is probalby just to fully build up Del Rio for when he goes to RAW (probably in the Draft) he can have a great fued with Cena.

Anyway, if Cena will be in an epic fued with The Rock the next coming month's, Miz is retaining. Hell, we'll know if Cena's fueding with The Rock after Wrestlemania.

The win will solidify Miz as a team player. Not just a fluke, a afterthough, but an actual legit top guy in the company. (Which I think WWE is pulling for)

Cena winning though would make sense as well. He hasn't been Champion for a good 8 month's. Nexus made his life hell for 6 of those 8 month's. Costing him the WWE Title 2 times, was a slave for 3 month's. Now you got The Rock who's all up in his tail and Cena sent a very strong message on RAW.

Will The Rock play a part in the match. Who know's. The most I can see is he comes out after the match and gives a Rock bottom and People's Elbow to Cena. (That is if Cena loses). If he win's, Rock will probably come out, shake his hand, than plant him with a Rock Bottom. Setting the place insane.

Once again, just like the Survivor Series 2010 main event, I have no clue what's gonna happen and I appluad WWE for making it that way.

When this match was first made, I automatically thought Cena was going to win. Over the last month, I'm thinking that maybe the best option is for Miz to retain. The Miz has been viewed as an afterthought because of Cena and The Rock and I feel sorry for him as I think anyone else would be viewed as such in that position. To his credit, he has done an admirable job. I look at past champions like HHH and Orton and I would say one of their defining moments as champion was to retain the title at Wrestlemania. I have never been a fan of the faces always winning the last match to send the crowd home happy. A heel winning could gain more heat the next time they appear and I believe the Miz can do that. This could be his defining moment as champion and it may come at the expense of Rock interfering but people will remember Miz retaining as well as Rock possibly giving Cena the Rock Bottom. My prediction is that Miz retains.

This match really confuses me. I guess it's a sign of the times when the fact that the WWE Championship is on the line is a side note to a match. It seems to me that this match is about The Rock/Cena, than Miz/Rock, than Cena/Miz, than the WWE title. As a result this match just isn't something I really care about. The Miz has been beating down Cena as a means to garner some attention in this match due to the fact that Cena and everyone else has been more concerned with The Rock, yet the whole premise of this feud is that Cena wants get revenge for those beatdowns? I never thought I would be rooting for The Miz, but I am. He has been completly justified in this feud to beat the living fuck out of Cena. The guy is the god damn champion yet is taking a back seat to another feud (Keeping in mind that this is Wrestlemania).

There is no way The Miz is dropping the title here. Actually, let me rephrase that, there is no was the Miz can afford to drop the title here.

Looking forward to this match. I too thought when the match was first made though Cena would walk it, but now, not so much. With the way Cena left the Rock on Monday, it's nearly unimaginable that Rock isn't going to play a part in the match this Sunday. If he does interfere, he is defiantly not making Miz too lose, he'll make Miz win. I just can't see Rock leaving quickly after Mania. I'm sure Vince is going to put out a huge number for The Rock to feud with Cena, and if it happens, it'll be magical, and it will give some other guys to fight Miz for the title, like Morrison or Punk. So I think Miz should retain. Even if Rock leaves again, it still won't hurt for Cena to lose. Miz has done a great job in recent times to not be completely forgotten about with the whole Cena/Rock charade, which is a huge feat, considering some of the things Rock and Cena were pulling off.

The match won't be a masterpiece, but Cena always pulls off a good match, and Miz is good in the ring, and ever improving. The match will get a good 20 minutes. I honestly feel that if Rock is going to get involved, this match should close the show, as closing the show with Cena/Miz/Rock in the ring, is much more appealing, than Cena/Miz/Rock in the ring, with a match to go. Miz for the win here.

Ill admit, sorta pissy they went this route with this build, honestly. The program built between Miz and Cena a couple years ago was damn good heat, and the beginning of elevating Miz to what he is now. They definately could have built this as the Miz's redemption, his quantifying. Instead its been all about a guy who hasnt been around, and likely wont be a fixture on WWE tv. This, for the ME of Wrestlemania.

Oh well, in all likelyhood, wont be an interesting match. Before the bell will be, and after it will be, everything else is just a means to an end.

bit disappointed, and not too excited for this

Miz has to beat Cena here.

Don't invest all that time and money into him and then have Cena beat him and undo all that investment.

If they really want Miz to be a top guy for years to come, he needs to win this and retain.

It's time to make The Miz like they did Randy Orton at WM 24.

I've said this time and time again, this year's Wrestlemania is all about the established vs. the unestablished. The Miz has a lot to prove against Cena. It was just over two years ago when Miz called out Cena and told him he would one day be the face of the company...and dammit, it happened. However, Miz has yet to prove himself against someone the likes of Cena. Miz needs the win here. Not Cena. however, I cannot see him winning against Cena unless The Rock gets involved some how. I'm super pumped for this match.

Hamler's Prediction- John Cena

I see the rock interfering somehow whether its during or after the match. This is one of those matches/feuds that has to go down as one of the worst W.M. build-ups of all time. Again, the rock/cena got more attention then miz/cena. I'm not really interesting in this matchup and I honestly don't care who wins. I would like to see the rock give cena a rock bottom and a peoples elbow though :D Just because cena A.A'd the rock. Just for fun!

Anything other than a Miz victory would be a travesty. I'm unconcerned with Miz looking weak throughout his title reign and him being a third wheel in what is basically his feud. He's headlining WrestleMania, I'm sure he doesn't give a shit either. He's a fresh face and this is a massive match for him.

The Rock should cost Cena the victory and The Miz should then take out The Rock. The show should end with both of the faces laid out while The Miz holds the title above his head. I can't think of any reason not to do it. Cena winning the title is lame, he does it all the time, Miz retaining would be something special and it'd make him into more of a star than the title reign alone has done.
