I like the rules as they are, I think they're one of the many things that make this forum better than the rest out there.

Wrestling Clique is pretty good, aside from the fact that the avatars are fucking massive and people seem afraid to talk to me... and when they do, they suddenly become really obnoxious.

Maybe it's because my first post was a request for porn...

There are forums just as good with looser rules. And with more active members.

It's obvious by how many members we have and how many actually post that people are 'scared' to post in case they get infracted for spamming.l

As you all know I rarely post in the wrestling sections and that's for two reasons;

1) My point has usually been made
2) I feel the need to write a few paragraphs when I say something...if this has already been said, then why do you need me to say the same things that Justin or someone has already said?

This active members thing is a myth. We get close to 500 different members a day that sign on, plus all the different guest that show up.

Two points to make...

1) Those who are advocating for looser spam rules argue that relaxing them would encourage those who are afraid of getting infracted to post more because they wouldn't have to write as long of posts as they usually would. But, there is nothing in the rules that says a post should be a certain length. People can easily get to their points in a few sentences. Maybe that should be made more clear and examples of such concise posting should be put forth by the moderators. The rules don't have to be changed to encourage new posting.

2) Relatively stringent spam rules, in my opinion, are not hindering the development of our wrestling sections (someone in a previous post simply just said this was false but failed to provide any reasons why, assuming that his word meant anything unjustified). With respect to the wrestling sections, the one thing that is lacking more than anything else within them is cordial and constructive criticism. Those with strong opinions are very discouraging in these sections, as they hardly ever back up their arguments with anything but intimidation and insults. If you would like to see what good, critical responses are like, I suggest you check out the posts made by Dragonslayer. If our more tenured posters were like him, I can guarantee you that people would be more motivated to post in these sections.

Furthermore, all these comparisons to other sites and their relatively lax spam rules are, in my opinion, very misleading at best. In my opinion, these sites are more appealing for four reasons. One, they allow you much more freedom in choosing your avatars and signatures. Two, they have ways of awarding those who they feel add something to the forums through such things as e-ribbons. Third, they work hard to encourage people to post in spam and non-wrestling sections. And, fourth, while flaming most definitely occurs in some sections of these sites, it is hardly seen in any way, shape, or form in their wrestling sections; in their wrestling sections, things tend to be much more civilized than they are here.
