Not really, I like it the way it is. With the Spam rule relaxed you would get al ot more crap that doesn't contribute to the discussion. I've been to forums like that and most of them aren't that good.

No, but that's because I don't post in the wrestling sections because I rarely watch a lot of wrestling. I do go to other forums where the spam rules in the wrestling sections are MUCH more relaxed and it's a funner atmosphere. There's good discussion, sometimes the thread can go off topic, but there's so much activity none of the mods really freak out about it.

I like the fact that I have to think out my arguments before I post them in those particular sections. I personally think that where the most opportunity lies in terms of improvement is the Live Discussion/Spam Zone.

To be honest. No. Too man people would say.

"I like Rey Mysterio. He is a good wrestler who sells decently enough. I think he will win the title."

and THAT. Is WAY too much for my brain to comprehend seeing every 3-5 posts.

What she said.

And by relaxing the spam rule, you'd be unable to think out your arguments?

I try to post as much as I can in the wrestling sections. The only thing that keeps me from doing it more is the lack of interesting topics at times - or the topics that just become "I want to say I don't like a popular guy and wait for everybody to agree with me". The whole "so and so was popular, but now I hate him, so let's bash him" concept is something I don't participate in, so that's what prevents me from posting a lot in those sections.

Spam being allowed in there would make it worse, I think, as you'd be getting lots of posts that are just "Cena sucks" or "I want Matt Hardy to be world champion" with no real thought.

Quality > Quantity.

No, but what would be the incentive of putting any effort into your posts then? If I see a bunch of people posting something similar to "Kofi Kingston is badass and he reminds me of Bob Marley. He deserves the title!," then I wouldn't think that they would actually take the time to read posts that are a little more fleshed out. Furthermore, your arguments would get lost in the shuffle.

Don't get me wrong, I think having fun on boards is important...hence, why I think there is much opportunity in the live discussion/spam zone.

It's really not that bad. As long as you have some good posters, which this forum has plenty of, who are willing to make well thought out posts, it'll still be a successful forum. And it'll be even better if those people that can make a good post, or a great post, can get a little spammy every now and then without worrying about it. I know this mod at this other forum who's a pretty great poster, but she can spam at times and just joke around with posters, and it really doesn't drive anyone away lol.

Fuck no, If spam rules were more relaxed WZ would suck. I like to think that I can write a decent non spam wrestling post now. If I can learn to do it, anyone can.

It wouldn't make a difference to me either way. However, when I post I like to make reference to other people's arguments, you know, discuss them, as is the norm in a discussion forum. If you had spam posters, it'd be harder to find the arguments that were well thought out.

That's just a minor irritation, but I do think we'd see people trying to bump threads a lot by just saying things like "interesting" or "good points, but Cena still sucks" or whatever.

So it'd make no odds to me, but I do think it could cause some problems.

The reason you don't have more interesting topics is because people aren't wanting to put in the time.

Except it's not going to be like that, and wouldn't have to be like that. Spamming WOULD NOT be allowed, just what constitutes spamming changes.
No, but what would be the incentive of putting any effort into your posts then?
What's your incentive now? The enjoyment of posting?

Yeah, it'd be the same thing.

See, your comment is EXACTLY the problem. People don't understand the difference between relaxing spam, and allowing spam.

No it wouldn't.

No, you wouldn't. That'd be spam.

For fuck's sake already, will people PLEASE learn the difference between "relaxed" and "removed"?

I'm torn.....on one hand more converstations wrestling related could be fun, but other wrestling forums I post at and forums in general can get annoying when it's repetitive shit.

One thing that "could" make the wrestling sections more active is if you could make it so you only get repped for wrestling posts. I know everyone say's they don't care about there rep, but most do(or they wouldn't always ask, make refrence, and shit). People have no reason to post in the wrestling sections when they can get rep, respect, known, mod spots, ect from staying bar/room flies.

It's worked at wrestling forums before, it'll work here. :)

Exactly. The biggest problem ED, is people seem to think that "relaxing" the spam rule means that anyone can post anything they want, anywhere they want.

Since people obviously aren't paying attention to me, perhaps YOU could tell them how silly that notion is.

They said RELAX the spam rules, not do away with them completely, I have no problem with them being relaxed if it creates more discussion which it prolly would seeing as how many posters seem to creates threads in the Bar Room and Spamzone/LD sections rather than the wrestling sections anyway, personally I would rather the spam rules be more relaxed in the NWS but that's just me

just do not be too relaxed. I enjoy having posts where there are quality posts after quality posts. that is why WrestleZone is an elite forum for wrestling.

Lets do it for a week or so and see how it goes. If it works keep it, if it doesn't change it.
I'd say instead of a week, make it a month or two. Give it a fair trial.

I'm all for this.

LOL

With all due respect, WZ is NOT quality posts after quality posts. There are several completely ridiculous posts. Just because they are several sentences long, doesn't mean they are quality.

Quality has NOTHING to do with length of post. Quality has to do with the foundational basis of the post.

How relaxed do you propose? For example would something like "Cena will win the match because JBL is never going to be champion again because he can't draw" be spam?

It is miles more in depth than "JBL sucks" or whatever, but it's still not exactly constructive to discussion.
