I am the biggest Hulk Hogan fan I know, but I begged for him to retire 3 years ago when he wrestled Orton at SummerSlam.
Personally, I actually think he'd be the best choice to wrestle Jericho at WrestleMania right now. That's until I remember that Hogan is not a great wrestler and probably has zero chemistry in the ring with Jericho, too. He'd also never lose to Jericho, but at the same time, I'm not sure they've decided where they're going with this angle yet. I really don't want to see Jericho wrestle Flair because it kind of ruins everything they did last year with Flair's retirement. At the same time, I don't know of any other legend who could go with Jericho in the ring even reasonably. Unless Steamboat is still in some kind of ring shape, which I doubt.
Kind of getting off topic here, though it goes to explain my feelings, this is just another case of WWE counting the money before it was earned. They just knew that Mickey Rourke would agree to wrestle Jericho and that would be a publicity gainer. Vince once again underestimated how wrestling is truly viewed by the greater public, and certainly by the Hollywood community who are pretty elite (and this is coming from a liberal who commonly defends Hollywood, but just look at this years Academy Awards nominees and you'll see what I mean, if you follow these things, that is). Mickey Rourke wants to have his acting comeback, which you certainly can't begrudge him, and so is listening to the people who know these things. So we are now stuck with a storyline that can't end well because it will either a) end with Jericho losing to an over the hill legend, which won't make Jericho look good or, b) proving Jericho right on every point he has made, which is pretty insulting to every wrestling fan everywhere.
So that's why I'd like to see Hogan wrestle Jericho. Because losing to Hogan probably wouldn't hurt Jericho all that much, and it would have a feelgood ending to the storyline.
Actually, when you come right down to it, Jericho should be wrestling The Undertaker. I believe I saw someone on here make that point a while back, but it would really make the most sense at this point. Sadly, we're going to get Michaels against Undertaker, which, while it may be fun, is again, fairly pointless.
But as far as Hogan having one last "run," I think that happened in '02-'03. He can still come in an do an occasional appearance, maybe even a match depending on the circumstances, but WWE needs to focus on making the new stars. Remember, Michaels and Undertaker have to be nearing the end of their time. JBL is up there in age, as are Batista and Kane. Triple H, Edge, Jericho and Big Show are mid to late 30's now. We know Orton and Cena will be around, but who will follow them? That is what WWE should focus on the most. Make us care about guys like CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, John Morrison, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, whoever, so that when they're on the top, we're still watching.
