Who will be the fifth "player"?

Planty

Pride of Manchester
Sorry if there is already a thread about this. If so, merge it, thankyou.

Its announced for this week's RAW that in an NBA style playoff match: Legacy, The Miz and Big Show will take on Batista, John Cena, MVP, Jerry Lawler and a mystery "player".

Who do you think that mystery partner will be?

I am shuddering at the thought that player might be referring to more than just basketball: "The dirtiest player in the game".

If Flair comes out of retirement then thats it, I'm not watching wrestling anymore haha.

Other honourable mentions: HBK, HHH?..

My guess will be HBK or Taker. I hope its not Flair because that is just too obvious. I also wouldn't mind if a real "player" came out like Rodzilla or Shaq. :icon_biggrin:

Im with you if Flair comes out of retirement then im done too. He needs to give it up. Jericho is so right about these older wrestlers that cant stay out of the limelight. I hope its not him. Probably will be. My first reaction was it has to be a returning Mr. Kennedy. Just anyone except Flair. Please.

I hope its Kennedy. I think it might be because of all the promo video's we've been seeing. Its a RAW which will have a lot of media attention because of recent developments, so why not pull out a big return and have one of the most entertaining mic workers get some TV time?.. hopefully with his own ring introduction.

i am with everyone on the ric flair thing. right now all hes good for is drawing ratings as we have seen this past monday. i also agree it might be mr. kennedy as WWE as been promos and advertising his return. i dont think it will be hbk or taker since they are not scheduled to come back till the summer. but i really do think it will be kennedy

Knowing WWE, it'll probably be Flair, which will really piss me off. But you never know, they could do something almost as stupid and make it Santino or someone dumb like that. Hopefully they will do the right thing and make it Kennedy or HBK, IF they're ready to return. I guess this could end up being a way to get ratings at least.

I doubt Kennedy returns this quick after the vid promos. I bet he doesn't return until RAW goes to Green Bay in a month and a half.

That said, I'll go Vince McMahon. He'll stroke his own ego throughout the show, and it certainly wouldn't shock me to see him take it too the ring. If not him, Santina. For the "comedy"....yeaaah...

That's a pretty stacked main event though. I may actually stay tuned this week.

Does anyone really expect it to be anyone but HHH? I'd imagine that if Flair was "coming out of retirement" it'd be for more than a throwaway match on RAW and they'd hype it up. I fully expect it to be HHH. If not, then I'd guess McMahon himself which really, come on, it's been done 1,000 times. It could be HBK but I thought he was rehabbing injuries.

Kennedy is set to return next week, so i think it'll most likely be him. Or what about Vince McMahon or Shane?

My guess is it'll either be Ric Flair or Kennedy. Everyone is expecting it to either be Trips or Ric. So why not throw a curveball into the mix and have the lights go dim... "MRRRRRRRRR KEEEENNNNNNNNNNEDDDDY!!!!!!!!!! KENNEDY! Althought I could see Vince being the ego driven son of a bitch that he is taking up the spotlight. Maybe they will actually throw a legit shocker our way though. Especially with all the Media attention.

My first inclination was to pick Flair, but I think that might be too obvious considering we all heard Ric Flair say he wants to fight Orton last week. Plus, I'm hoping he decides to stay retired.

It's safe to assume it's going to be somebody big, or else they'd just tell us who it is, right? So the obvious choices besides Flair are HHH and HBK, but I don't think they're going to bring either one of them back when they'll have to be competing with 9 other guys for attention. I don't think it's going to be Hogan or The Rock either, unfortunately. To be honest, I wouldn't be totally against seeing Ricky Steamboat come out for another match. He can still wrestle, and it'd be fun to see him again.

^ If it's Shane McMahon then I'm not gonna watch Raw for a long time. That would be the WORST possible person to bring out. My thoughts.

Triple H- It seems obvious, but they will play it off as a big "shock." I don't see why he would be brought back now though, with Orton busy with Batsita.

Flair- I just can't see the WWE doing this, but it's possible. Flair keeps talking about how he's retired, so he can fight but not wrestle. It shows that WWE isn't completely ignoring WM 25, and if they did bring Flair back, they wouldn't waste it here.

HBK- He's been gone for a while and there's been no hype around him, so this would be a semi-surprise. I would love to see it, but don't see how he fits in here.

Vince- I'm really hoping it's not him because I've seen enough of the McMahon's in the main event recently, and I don't think it will be him. But, there is still a chance that Vince will try to "prove" himself to all the NBA guys by lacing up the boots.

Sid- Now, this would be a schocker. There have been some rumors about him getting back into wrestling, and I'm sure a lot of the 80s and 90s fans would be very pleased with his return.

The Rock- Will this happen? Probably not. But, if it did, it would be HUGE for the WWE. The Rock is probably the 2nd biggest main stream star in the history of the company behind Hogan and this would create a ton of buzz around the WWE. Maybe he could even hang around for a couple of weeks and put The Miz over on PPV. I doubt it, but they are in LA, so you never know.

Wild Card Choice: Hornswaggle- Because it's the WWE, and midgets= ratings.

It'll be Triple H or HBK. I'm sincerely hoping it's not Ric Flair, just because if he is that 5th person it means he gets to wrestle again. And I don't want him wrestling on my tv again. He can talk to people all he wants. He can do chair shots from the outside. But he doesn't need back in that ring. Especially on a night everyone expects we can get new fans. Someone who can actually wrestle and it looks legit for them to win would be nice.

Mr. Kennedy doesn't need to be the 5th. I'm betting a Green Bay, Wisconsin return. Triple H for my money. Though it may very well be Vince/Shane. ugh.

I have a suspition that WWE is going to screw this up. Lets take a look at some the nominees I have seen on this thread:

Vince McMahon: Vinnie Mac, your days in the ring are up. Please, spare us the misery of having to watch you wrestle.

Triple H: Well, although it wouldn't make any sense bringing him back this soon, when has this stupid Legacy v. The McMahon's storyline made sense lately anyways.

Shawn Michaels: It would be great to see old HBK back, RAW is really bland without him. But HBK wasn't planned to be back till around SummerSlam, but now with HBK talking about not coming back till the end of the year or early next year I don't think it will happen.

The Rock: I am not going to waste my time on this one. If WWE pulls this off somehow, they deserve a lot of fucking credit man. lol.

Sid: Sid would be kind of cool, but I really don't see that happening either, but hey anything can happen in WWE and it has. We have all seen it.

Ric Flair: Flair, please man just let go. I understand passion and the will to compete but there comes a time when you just have to let go. This is that time for you Ric, your 60 yrs. old, you haven't wrestled in over a year, no you are not better then 90 % of the lockeroom anymore. Flair, please just stop. WM 24 was so amazing and the retirement sendoff WWE gave you was one of the greatest in history, why tarnish that. By doing this, Ric spits in the face of HBK, and everyone who was there on RAW for his retirement. Ric, PLEASE JUST LET GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

My guess will be HBK or Taker. I hope its not Flair because that is just too obvious. I also wouldn't mind if a real "player" came out like Rodzilla or Shaq. :icon_biggrin:

Taker!? No way. He is on Smackdown clearly. I think it will be more than likely be HHH. If so, then it will be a good match and worth watching. What I don't get is why everyone is so up in arms about Flair coming back? He is a legend. If Hogan was to come out instead of Flair, everyone would go wild.

I think there's a possibility that Mr.Kennedy will be the fifth person in the Babyface team. Maybe they don't want people to get annoyed of just a bunch of vignettes hyping his return and might bring him back to try and shock the fans. There's a possibility that it will be him but I think it is a very small one.

I don't think it will be Ric Flair because obviously WWE would want to cash in on his in-ring return, come one now we know no one ever stays retired in pro-wrestling. If Ric Flair was to return it would be in one of the Big Four ppv's, but that is a discussion in another thread. But then again I wouldn't be surprised if they included him in the main event since he is going to apparently call out Randy Orton. So you never really know.

I think that HBK returning would probably be the least likely choice. He apparently is taking a break to heal nagging injuries and he is really banged up, so no i don't think it will be him. It would be a bad decision if they are just going to make him return for that match and then return to his break.

I think the most likely choice would be Triple H. I think he has stayed away enough to sell the punt, and this would be the right time to make him return if they want to really pop a rating, which have been down lately. I think that it would catch a lot of people by surprise, that don't read stuff on the Internet and stuff.

Seeing as WWE is hinting on a major player, it will either be Vince MvMahon or Mr. Kennedy.

Now I doubt it will be Kennedy as the WWE will be in Green Bay soon I tink and the WWE could wait for him to come back then, plus putting him in the match hurts current storylines. As for Vince, it fits the whole Orton storyline, plus he never got is revenge on Orton.

I hope it isn't Flair as I'm sick of Ric Flair. Just retire and go shoot up heroin with your son Reid.

Most likely Triple H or HBK, or someone else totally boring and not suprising. I mean, come now, this IS the WWE. it seems like they are leaning towards an Evolution-Legacy thing, so it makes sense for Triple H to be the guy. I very sincerely doubt its Kennedy. He has zero connection to anyone in the match, and they arent gonna throw him in with a bunch of ME and upper mid card. guys right off the bats. (legacy is an uppe rmid card stable, kind of thing) I wouldnt be TOTALLY shocked, but it doesnt make a whole lot of sense.

I would think that them hinting so strongly "player" would imply a guy like Dennis Rodman. It's stupid, but that's the WWE sometimes. He used to play for the Lakers and doesn't have anything going on, so he would be able to show up with less than a weeks notice to get some publicity. I don't think they'll waste a good return for Taker, HHH, or HBK. Flair returning should be a main event with Orton. I'm going with Rodman.

A few weeks ago JR posted a blog stating Kenney would be back in 3-4 weeks. He's been wrestling in FL for several weeks. They've been airing his comeback vids. Flair has his Orton fight and HHH, HBK, and Taker arent comin back yet. Its Mr. Mic Check.

Just for shits and giggles....Austin!!! Why? Austin = ratings, enough said! Another possible candiate....:robvandam:!! Why not? I still agree with most of you that it will be Mr. Kennedy, which is just fine with me. Only time will tell...until we are dissappointed!!

I agree with those that say it's Kennedy. I doubt if Flair comes back (which I hope never happens) would be part of a meaningless ten-man tag team match. It'd be great if he got the pinfall victory. If we're just killing time until Hunter returns I'd love to see Orton/Kennedy headline a PPV or two.

I hope it is not Mr. Kennedy. Vince needs someone that will pull in ratings. It should be either Trips or HBK. Mr. Kennedy is just not at a high enough caliber to make people tune. If WWE really wants to surprise everyone, they will bring in Stone Cold, The Rock, or Hulk Hogan. Those are GUARANTEED ratings magnets. Personally I would like to see HBK.

Enough with the Hogan Austin Rock stuff, those of you who are serious anyway. Unfortunately Hogans the most likely n thats a stretch. The mention of Rodman with the real Lakers jersey, experience, and 'player' thing would happen b4 Rock/Austin. Kennedy!!

Whats the chances of it just being some guy off smackdown since the smackdown tapings are at Staples the next night? It could be just as likely to see someone like Jeff Hardy or CM Punk or Morrison(remember he and miz had an altercation after the draft) as it would be to see HBK or even HHH.
