Whats with the moderators on this site? Are they justified?

The moderators on this site seem to be very biased toward their own opinions as far as the legitimacy of some posts particularly the one who calls himself "the brain".
For example I posted a question relating to whether or not Hulk Hogan would have been as popular if he didn't go bald or have a mustache which is a legitimate topic since its been reported recently that he might be shaving it all off. Also the fact wrestling is about showmanship and having a unique look attracts attention and appearance is 80% of a character.
So do you think "the brains" actions are justified? Or do you think he just has sand in his vagina?

Obviously noting the post to do with Hogans hair and mustache was placed in the trash.

The thread would have generated spam.

There is not much you can say on how Hogan's hair affected his career, it's like asking if Triple H would have succeeded even more if he wore long brown pants instead of black tights. It doesn't matter much, Join Cena could come out in a Barney the dinosaur suit and he would still get a louder reaction than Curt Hawkins.

I strongly suspect this is a one sided representation of what happened but those defending the trashing because the thread was "stupid" are actually agreeing with the OP. Stupidity is subjective.

Don't get worked up over it and don't expect much support through this thread. No one is out to get you, Hogan, baldness or mustaches. I will let the mods tell you why your thread got trashed but in my opinion there really wasn't much discussion that is going to come from your OP.

I have tried to formulate a discussion in my mind regarding your topic and it really leads nowhere. Maybe you could try to work on the OP and try again (not recommended) or just place the topic in Spam.

Your not the first person to start a mod/admin criticism thread but you are the most polite from the ones I've seen. Just let it go and go back to enjoying the forum.

Stop being a twit SD. His trashed thread was a spam magnet waiting to happen, it was poorly worded and was about a subject that no one really would care about.

And besides anything else, no one can possible believe Hulk's hair had anything with Hulkamania.

This pretty much sums it up. I could see this attracting a bunch of spam and insults so I cut it off before that happened. Part of being a mod is being able to use you judgment and eliminating a problem before it becomes a problem. If I looked hard enough I could possibly see the point that was trying to be made but why should I have to look hard for it? I doubt many others would have. I did the op a favor by saving him from a bunch of insults.

You seem to admit it is a judgment call. Aside from the parting insult that was unnecessary all the OP said was that you made a judgment call against him based on your opinion. I can understand dissatisfaction when there isn't anything explicitly wrong with what he did. You even seem to admit that his post wasn't entirely without merit. If he put it in non-spam I think the saving from insults thing is a cop out.

I fully admit it was a judgment call. As the moderator of that section I have the right and responsibility to make judgment calls like that.

You certainly have the right to but I don't see why you have the responsibility to enforce things that aren't explicitly against the rules.

I like the polite, insightful post you added, Numbers. It inspires faith in future hair-related discussion.

He has a responsibility to the section to keep it free of shit threads. That means threads that have been around long enough to show they only accumulate shit, or threads which seem to the mod making the call to be likely to only attract shit posts. This isn't new; this is how things have been done around here for ages.

SD, I get the point you are trying so very hard to make, but in your rush to over analyze every word Brain says, you are forgetting one little thing. The OP paints this as a picture of "so-and-so mod disagrees with me and/or doesn't like me, so he trashed my thread". This is not the case. The mod, as he has stated already, just made the call within his responsibilities as mod of the section to trash the thread before it became spam fodder.

I know you have a hard-on for trying to stick it to the mods around here, but this is not the fight you're looking for.

My penis is flaccid at the moment and I'm not trying to fight anyone. It isn't about sticking it to people either. My issue usually arises when a mod defers to the I can do whatever I want rule over the actual rules. It may be a necessary thing but it undeniably renders the existence of the rules in the first place much less important than most like to suggest. It isn't hard to learn to follow the stated rules, it is more difficult to guess what someone is thinking.

How is that not the case? They disagree on the merit of the thread's existence and it was trashed.

Except you're wrong again, SD.

Brain never stated he disagreed with the guy's opinion. Homeslice's statement was that Brain opposed him on the legitimacy of the post, which isn't the total truth here. Brain never said the post wasn't legit, only that it was likely to end in spam in some form or another.

To touch upon the other part of your reply; this is a fucking forum. This is something I see from many people, not just you, and it just boggles my mind; how do any of you care SO MUCH about fine print in the rules or about "playing fair"? I don't really see any mods around here "do things because they can" unless we're talking about The Prison or The Bar Room. Outside of those two areas, everything is conducted rather fairly and openly.

There isn't a meaningful difference between the two. That was Brain's opinion of what would happen. If he trashed a post that he deemed legitimate then it just makes the whole thing more convoluted. If it was going to produce spam then why not move it to the spam section instead of trashing it? Are all posts under suspicion of spam responses trashed? If they aren't then there is obvious subjectivity involved which was what the OP asked about.

People care about the rules because it is the first thing stated to them when they supposedly do something wrong. I am not sure where you have been but I certainly have seen a mod say that they can do what they want anyway when a discussion of the actual rules wasn't going their way. I don't necessarily think that is their intention when they first act but it is certainly thrown around from time to time. My issue is more with the explanation than the motivation. Subjective rules lead to issues with both though even if most of the time things are fine.

Well, I've seen shit threads move to spam zones and I've seen them moved to the trash. Totally up to the choice of the mod. In this case, Brain found it not worth the effort. If the idiot wanted to try again, maybe this time making the OP less shitty and putting it in Wrestling Spam, good for him; he learned something. Instead, he chose to make another shitty thread about it in a section which really has nothing to do with it.

As for the second part, I don't know where YOU'VE been. You're going to have to give me something as an example about the "because I can" shit.
