Alice In Chains - A Looking In View

This song is a motherfucking monster. Seriously this is about as heavy as it gets, this riff is right up there with the likes of Sad But True as the heaviest I have ever heard.

Heavy riffing aside, William DuVall stands out to me on this one, he has big shoes to fill with Layne Stanley and while I wont say he fills then completely I think he goes a long way towards doing so. His vocal work is very impressive on this song, great lyrics and he has a really cool dark kinda vide about him which I really like.

Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing

I've been listening to this song for days now. Not only the live performance, however it's the one I'm gonna share with you. This live performance is absolutely amazing if you ask me, and Brian Molko has great vocals that he displays so well in this performance.

Placebo has grown on me a lot as of late. I've always had a liking for "Running Up That Hill" and "Post Blue" however it wasn't until recently that I started checking out the rest of their songs, and this one has stuck with me for the entire weekend. A slow pace that shines through in a sort of depressive mode, yet still something that can be listened to simply for the sake of relaxing (At least if you ask me). The guitar riff is pretty great, especially around 2:45 to 3:20, and that mixed with the slow paced yet strong vocals of Brian Molko just creates such a pure amount of awesomeness.

Overall great performance from Placebo right here, and even if you're not a fan you should still check it out, if you don't plan on missing out.

And this ISN'T about cocaine at all.......

Basically, it is just the same as 90% of all Motorhead songs, but its still Lemmy...and it still rocks!!

It isnt even close to being one of my favourite songs by the band, but I had Motorhead on shuffle on my ipod this morning, and went through "Iron Fist", "Living In The Past", "Rock Out", "Bomber", "America", "Sucker" and then this was the last one that came on before I left for work.

Lemmy has such a gutteral voice, but it fits the style of Motorhead so so well. I could not imagine any other vocallist singing this track.

I've been jammin' out to this funky ass new drop from The Polish Ambassador, great free high energy track that again shows why TPA is the funky boss sauce.

The Polish Ambassador - How to Beat a Robot in a Knife Fight

This track was just released over the weekend (completely free as well) on The Polish Ambassador Facebook/Bandcamp pages, this one had been sitting on his hard drive since around the time he unleashed his Ample Mammal persona. Thankfully TPA was kind enough to unearth this track and release it to the masses, for no other reason than out own enjoyment, now that's how music should be done.

This is great for a free track, and probably one of favorite free tracks that he has released. There's loads of funk in this track, and it's a nice mix between the Polish Ambassador/Ample Mammal sound and a track that could have easily made it onto his First Words Album.

The Raconteurs- Steady As She Goes (Live at Glastonbury 2008)

Anything that Jack White seems to turn to gold. This song (and band, in general) is great on the album... but that greatness is amplified by the creative song opening by Brendan and Jack dueling licks, along with Jack's always-dumbfounding solos and use of equipment, especially the mic with killswitch from 4:10-4:58. It is just great music from a fantastic collection of musicians.

Hate to post two videos at once, but I figured these are as good as they come. To quote a comment on YouTube: "Wow. They literally. Walk in. And rip shit."

LEGEND

One of THE metal anthems, by one of the true metal icons. I finally got round to picking up Dio's best of collection, as I have always fancied listening to more of his material.

Obviously this track opens the collection, an absolutely powerhouse with one of the most instantly recognisable riffs in metal history. Dio provides his usual great vocals, which he was still able to do in his 60s, an amazing achievement.

If you are a metal fan and don't know this song, you must have been living under a rock. This is a fucking beast of a tune

Bullet For My Valentine - Scream Aim Fire

Loving this one at the moment, not sure why as I am usually not a huge fan of B4MV but this song has grown on me in a huge way since first listen.

It has got a great riff to start it off, some good lyrics and some fucking awesome drum fills. Love the bridge of this song the most though, those pinch harmonics (squealies) sound fucking sick.

Can't wait to see these guys live at Soundwave in about five weeks, it should be a great way to kick off what will undoubtedly be an awesome day (how can Slash, Slayer, Rob Zombie and Maiden, amongst others, all in the same day not be awesome?)

I am really into Madchester era Manchester music right now. I have always liked it, but have read a couple of books on the era since christmas, and just finished on on the legendary Hacienda nightclub, which started it all.

"Hallelujah" is one of my favourite songs, and this is the club mix. Its got a great dancey feel to it, as well as cool guitaring. I prefer the original, although there isnt much difference between the two, the club mix is just faster. It is one of the biggest tunes of the Acid House era, and still an absolute classic.

I saw the Mondays live a couple of years ago, and the crowd was loving this tune. I wish I had been old enough to experience the era myself, rather than just reading about it, but these things happen!

Danzig's "Mother"

I heard this for the first time when I was 13 years old. Glenn Danzig has a kind of hypnotic voice. This song always gets my blood pumping! I have never listened to the Misfits, but I think I will go home and download their stuff with Danzig.

I just added this song to my mp3 player and can't wait to hear it this afternoon when I work out.

System of a Down - Psycho

I've been listening to some old SoaD albums for the past few days. I've been reminded of my love of the Toxicity album which had some of their best songs for me. I really become to like Psycho. A perfect song that personifies SoaD's music which can change from fast and hardcore to a slow mellow tune.

Elvis - Trouble

This right here is why Elvis is considered 'The King'. It's a performance full of enthusiam, great playing and still belting out a cracker. The song is of course all about looking for Trouble or as Elvis puts it:

If you're looking for trouble
Just look right in my face
I was born standing up
And talking back

This song personifies just why many parents disliked Elvis so much. He talks about being evil; and causing trouble and basically pissing off his parents. Elvis always did with style and grace and of course this video is a perfect example of that. This man had his name in bright lights and he knew it. He also displays his overlooked guitar skills in this particular song. It's other title is in fact 'Guitar Man' and with Elvis playing very well, it's a name that should stick with you. A real star if there ever was one.

Metallica "Whiskey in the Jar"

I love Irish folk music, and can't get enough of this song. There is a bar in downtown Detroit that has the best live Irish folk music on the weekends. Metallica really stays true to the song while adding an edgy feel. Love this song!

Pleasantly surprised by my Misfits downloads so far. Here is my favorite.

"Last Caress"

The lyrics are a little odd...I'll have to look up the meaning.

Kid Cudi - Mr. Rager

This song just has a sick beat, sick lyrics, and it just kind of takes you to a different place. This may be one of Cudi's best songs, and is probably my personal favorite song. I love the bassline throughout the song, and the use of drums is a nice touch. It has a kind of "out there" touch to it, good stuff.

I'm posting the link because the video's never seem to show up for me.

"Help is on the way "-Rise Against

I'm not as big of a Rise Against fan as I once was, but I still couldn't help but feel excited when they released a new song and announced a new album was coming out. This song is off of their up-coming album "Endgame" which is set to be released in March. Great song and really sums up who Rise Against is. Good lyrics and solid all-around song.

Check it out.

It's been a while since I've been excited about new music, but that all changed yesterday upon acquiring a fantastic new CD filled to the brim with a combination of wonderful electronic synthpop as well as some deliciously funky instrumentals.

The group goes by the name Bag Raiders, the album was released in Oct. 2010, but wasn't made available to the American itunes until yesterday. The music is similar to fellow Aussie musicians Cut Copy and they also give off a bit of a Calvin Harris vibe too.

I'll give you guys the song that found a little chart success way back in 09', and perhaps I'll make a more official post in the ESP if I get any feedback at all about these guys.

I also have a high quality torrent of their debut CD available to anyone who wants it, just PM me, or respond in this thread and I'll send you the file.

To me, The Game is the best rapper out there today. I love the old school west-coast beats he has in the background of alot of his stuff. While this one isnt like that, I think its a great tune with alot of meaning.

I usually hate most of Lil Wayne's stuff but this is one of the few that I like. Great tune, from what I reckon is The Game's weakest album, L.A.X

New Pendulum CD was finally released this week on the USA itunes, it takes all those hipsters working for apple far too long to get quality music from overseas onto the American/USA itunes. I will never understand why it takes in some cases upwards of a year to make this music available, especially when it's been a proven seller in the past and on top of the fact that they have no problem releasing some of the shittier UK music the same day it's made available overseas.

Mini rant over.

So I've had the chance to listen to this CD one time through, but I'm already looking forward to giving it another listen. I noticed tons of stand out tracks, in fact I enjoyed almost every track the first time through and that rarely happens.

Pendulum has always been heavy on the D&B (Drum & Bass), but I noticed they took it a step further on a few tracks and put out some full blown Dubstep tracks, which I was blown away by. The track "Set Me On fire" was a modern dubstep masterpiece, literally every element incorporated, including roots reggae/dub and the more modern trend of dance floor elements all blended together to create one of the best Dubstep tracks I've ever heard.

This is one song that me and my fiancee are looking at for our wedding song, don't ask me why, it's her choice. But after I heard it a few times, its actually not too bad. It is a really pretty song and while I don't think its my wedding song choice it is a nice song.

I Shot Ya Remix
By LL Cool J feat. Keith Murray, Pridogy, Fat Joe and Foxxy Brown

The Original song was the shit. The original is indeed my favorite rap song. I really didn't know much about the Remix until about a few weeks ago when I was downloading some other LL Cool J songs. This song is a Tupac diss featuring Keith Murray, Pridogy, Fat Joe, and Foxxy Brown. I'm a great RAP historian but I can't really recall the beef going on between Tupac and LL Cool J. Perhaps just the classic Eastcoast/Westcoast thing. Whatever.

The song is a classic. J's only verse in the song went harder than any other part of the song. He starts off Hard with the abrasive lyrics "What the fuck? I thought I conquered the whole world. Crushed Moe Dee, Hammer, and Ice-T's girl. But still, n*ggaz want to instigate shit. I'll battle any n*gga in tha rap game quick." LL Cool J was already a legend at this point. In this song he was just proving he could still go.

Mr. Smith was probably LL Cool J's last good Rap album. Before he started hip hop and playing to the ladies becoming a sex symbol. But both "I Shot Ya" and "I Shot Ya Remix" go hard. My favorite LL Cool J songs no doubt.

Metallica - The House That Jack Built

I'm listening to some of my favorite albums while playing Final Fantasy Tatics enjoying a quiet Saturday. Currently I'm on the Metallica album, Load and this song has somehow worked it's way into one of favorite Metallica songs as I'm listening to it now. I love the beginning of the song with the guitar intro bringing about a dark tone to the song. I was hooked from the first line of the song "Open doors so I walk inside". I've listened and loved a lot of Metallica songs and this one is climbing up the ranks of my favorites at a very fast pace.

Lamb Of God - Laid To Rest

I'm really not sure what has gotten into me lately, I have been listening to far heavier music (see: things involving screaming) than I usually would, this is no exception.

I am really getting into this song for whatever reason, the riffs are fucking awesome, loving the pinch harmonics in the main riff. The lyrics seem good even though they are barely audible (to an untrained ear like mine at least) and the drumming and bass are tight, whats not to like?

Man, how is this song 10 years old already???

I remember becoming a major fan of this song when it was released, its still one of the songs that gets me pumped up for the gym and working out. Josey Scott has the perfect voice for this style of music, and this track rocks hard.

My favourite part of the track is towards the end, just before the guitaring takes over for the last time when Scott sings "Its all inside of me...its all inside my heeaaaaaaad!"

great tune, by a very talented vocalist.
