• Xenforo Cloud has scheduled an upgrade to XenForo version 2.2.16. This will take place on or shortly after the following date and time: Jul 05, 2024 at 05:00 PM (PT) There shouldn't be any downtime, as it's just a maintenance release. More info here

The WWE Network is LIVE in the UK (Early)

I should watch SS 2013 again. I only saw it once, on a terrible stream on terrible internet shared by 3500 people in the mountains in a third world country.

and even then, I knew Cena-Bryan was an all time classic

I've already re-watched it at least once, possibly twice, on the Network. Such an excellent show

Its good to know that I don't look through rose-tinted glasses when it comes to that show. One of my favourites - a good combination of quality and a good viewing experience.

Oh and Bryan/Cena is the better match for me.

2008 Summerslam is such an almost PPV. Two very odd World Title matches but Cena/Batista and Taker/Edge inside a Cell. Plus Jericho and HBK "only" had a promo. What could have been...

As for 2013, I personally prefer Punk vs Lesnar but both are outstanding matches.

WCW's really not my cup of tea. However, that just means I've given up watching full shows (and, outside of WWF in 2000, I can rarely be arsed to sit through entire three hour shows anyway) and am just watching what looks good and what I've heard the most about.

Halloween Havoc 1998:
  • Chris Jericho versus Raven
  • Scott Hall versus Kevin Nash
  • Hulk Hogan versus The Ultimate Warrior
  • Bret Hart versus Sting
  • Goldberg versus Diamond Dallas Page

I know it's WCW and they'll find some way to take the shine off it - e.g. the show opens with the Nitro girls dancing and a Rick Steiner promo - but god damn, what a stacked card.

It's like the Steiner brothers discovered steroids and crystal meth at the same time.

Edit: Did they dub in Jericho's WWF theme over his WCW one? This is an alternate history I can get behind.

Edit: Did Jericho ever beat anyone with the cocky pin? Goldberg perhaps? Hogan?

nWo-ite was actually the noun they used? Christ.

Struggling to ascertain who are the faces and heels in the Giant/Scott Steiner versus Bagwell/Rick Steiner match. They're all greasy, obnoxious, porno star-looking creeps.

The main event (i.e. Goldberg versus Diamond Dallas Page for the world title) was remarkable and just made me a fan of both guys. If only there was more in WCW of this sort of stuff instead of boring, overbooked nonsense.

Oh my God. That was wonderful. I could easily describe it as overbooked but when it makes sense for the story and when the crowd is that hot for it - the pop each time Saturn kicks out - it doesn't matter. Wonderful.

So, you wanna go get breakfast now or...?

That Raven/Saturn match was so good that it got Schivonne and Heenan actually talking about the match rather than whatever the nWo were doing.

The kick out of the Evenflow was top stuff.

Speaking of discovering WCW, I'm about to watch The Rock versus Goldberg at Backlash 2003.

There's a part of me that's uncomfortable with The Rock losing to anyone so soon after beating - and retiring - Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The Coach is commentating. Some historic soundbites incoming. "He is a man... amongst men." Don't sell him too hard, Coach - it's only fucking Goldberg.

My lord, Hollywood Rock is hilarious. Goldberg chucks Rock across the ring. The Rock, on his arse, wide-eyed: "Oh, you are in trouble now!"

The crowd cheers The Rock hitting a low blow. The crowd boos the second spear and chants "Goldberg sucks!" as he sets up the third.

Overbooked for sure, but goddamn its wildly entertaining. The table spot is both terrifying and hilarious.

Just knocked out GAB 2004. Good god DAMN that Bull Rope match between Guerrero and JBL.

fact: me and my brother cried when Guerrero lost the title to jbl..we hated that guy sooooo much lol

Is the bull rope match the one where Eddie's head explodes after a great JBL chair shot?

No that's Judgment Day with the ring covered in blood. That match is probably even better actually and the DQ finish there is one of the few I actually like for a PPV title match.
