Who Will Win the Wrestlezone Tag Team Tournament???

  • Edge and Christian

I understand that. Still, with Randy Savage on the team, The Mega Powers should get all the IWC votes. And, from a kayfabe perspective, this team rules all. And, while I know that Hogan isn't popular on this particular board, people need to be aware that the man was a GREAT professional wrestler.

Don't get me wrong. I understand that due to unfair biases, The Horseman are probably the favorite. But, it shouldn't be. The Mega Powers should rule this tournament.

(I'm already working hard for them :))

Come on Sly...Hogan & Savage is an amazing team....but knocking off the Minnesota Wrecking Crew? No chance in HELL on that one mate, atleast in my opinion. Mega Powers won't make it past the first round in this one, and for good reason, because as a tag team, they weren't exactly stellar. They had maybe what---five matches together as a tag team? Almost no experience. Savage's in ring skills definately make up Hogans inferior in ring set, but still, anyone who's seen the Andersons know they were a MUCH better team.

This is going to cause a lot of controversy, but no way in hell do the Mega Powers get past the Andersons, no way in hell. Atleast if the voters have ever even seen the Anderson's wrestle (and there's the possibility many younger voters haven't) they will pick them.

But let's not turn this into a bash on Hogan thread.

Actually, I would argue that NOT having seen the Anderson's wrestle would probably benefit them. Because, I'm going to venture a guess that most posters here did not watch wrestling through Hulkamania, and thus, do not understand what Hulk Hogan was REALLY about. Obviously, some did and don't like him. Fair enough. But, Hulk Hogan is one of the least desirable people by the IWC today, usually for things that have nothing to do with his prime, and usually about things that really don't have as much to do with on-screen as it does off-screen.

Randy Savage, outside of drawing ability, may be THE most complete wrestler ever. Hulk Hogan is a good wrestler, with GREAT strength, and amazing resiliency. The team has technical abilities, aerial abilities, brawling abilities, good in-ring pacing, great workrate, great charisma, and know how to tell a story in the ring. And, if Miss Elizabeth is in their corner, and they can work as a team (which both men know how to tag team wrestle) and get along, then they should be a Final Four team (being said without really looking at the bracket).

But let's not turn this into a bash on Hogan thread.
Hahaha, you don't have to tell me twice. I'm singing the guy's praises ;).

I believe Shockey said they were taking on the Horsemen so I took that to be Tully/Arn. However, ever point Xfear made is also true about the Horsemen, AA learned from one of them, and Tully was know for studying old films. They worked as a team and not as indivuals as I stated before. Slyfox you said if Elizabeth was in there corner, I disagree I think she was more of a distraction then a help when they were tagged together, after all the storyline goes that she caused the megapowers to split, they little while they were together. She was great for the Macho Man but not the team. Look at the title reigns of Tully/AA and theres no way they can take the horsemen down.

Playboy Buddy Rose and Doug Somers

Overall: 106th Seed
Region: WWE 27th Seed

Okay, confession time. I fucked up, and fucked up bad. In my inclusion of WCCW, NWA, WCW, WWE, ECW, and ROH tag belts, I brain farted and forgot to include the AWA title reigns. I made it up by placing these two in. They get a low seed, only because I swapped places with them and someone else.

My Prediction: Tough to call again. Most people won't recognize them except for the older fans. Depending on what their matchups are, they could be gone very early on.

03.jpg

Incoherence: Delirious and Hallowicked

Overall: 125th Seed
Region: ECW 32nd Seed

This is for you Shadow. If you can find me a good pic of these two, it'll be much appreciated. Honestly, I don't know much about these two. I only started watching Delirious matchups because of Wrestler of the Week, which everyone should read. Any more info will be appreciated.

My Predictions: While Delirious is funny as shit, they are in a first round matchups against the Dudleys, with Extreme Rules, they are going down very hard probably.

perfectevent3.jpg

The Perfect Event: Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak

Overall: 68th Seed
Region: TNA 17th Seed

Every tourney needs itself a large heaping portion of Meat. Long before he was just Shawn Stasiak, and the other the butt end of a WWE gay joke, WCW allowed these two to flourish as a tag team. Another one of those teams that emerged to little to late to help save WCW.

My Prediction: Tough first round match. The 2nd City Saints provide a speedy team to clash with the size of these two. Both have little mainstream exposure, so it could be another controversial match.

04.jpg

The Pitbulls

Overall: 97th Seed
Region: WCW 25th Seed

One of the Original teams of ECW. While not technical masterpieces, they are a team of two guys that are built as hell, and ready to tear someones head off. They only held the ECW gold for 21 days, before neck injuries broke the team up.

My Prediction: Clash of styles certainly in their first round match.. They face Austin Aries and Roderick Strong. I can't see the Pitbulls going to far in this tournament.

01.jpg

Power and Glory: Hercules and Paul Roma

Overall: 107th Seed
Region: ECW 27th Seed

Another of the stereotypical 80's team. One big strong man, and another technical wrestler. Paul Roma is the 80's version of Shelton Benjamin or Charlie Haas. Good wrestler, but couldn't get the proper look or gimmick to push him to the next level. He even was put with the Horsemen and couldn't get over.

My Prediction: They have a first round matchup with Brian Kendrick and Paul London, so I can't imagine they will be going to far.

05.jpg

Powers of Pain: The Warlord and Barbarian

Overall: 126th Seed. (I have the tourney on a separate sheet then my rankings, for some reason my rankings keep changing, but the field is set. If you see some of these lower numbers having two seeds, I know, it's screwing up).
Region: WCW 31st Seed

Two big strong guys, but not a lot of speed. They were brought in by Mr. Fuji to help take down Demolition. They couldn't go to much further, because the Warlord ended up with a career ending back injury.

My Prediction: They face the Outlaws in the first round. While I feel they could knock them off with their strength, I feel I'm probably in the very small minority.

05.jpg

Public Enemy: Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge

Overall: 23rd Seed
Region: WWE 6th Seed

The team that Paul Heyman says was the reason ECW was able to get off the ground. While I wouldn't give them that much credit, some credit is due. They were a big hard hitting team of the early 90's. They won both the ECW and WCW tag team titles before being buried by the WWE.

My Prediction: Interesting matchup with Playboy Buddy Rose and Doug Somers, especially given the WWE rules, which doesn't favor the Public Enemy. Looks like another controversial match.

09.jpg

The Quebecers: Jacques Rougeau and Pierre Ouelette

Overall: 37th Seed
Region: TNA 10th Seed

A team that was fairly dominate in the early 90's in the WWE. They at first started as a joke, with being "Not the Mounties", but after that, changed the attitude a little. They captured their first tag team titles by beating the Steiners by DQ under "Canadian Rules" which resulted in a title change.

My Prediction: I think it's going to be hard for people to take this team seriously. I know most will be upset that I didn't go with the Rougeau Brothers in this field.

Um I know you said seedings were wacky but you can't mean for the Powers of Pain to be the 2nd seed in WCW I think that must be their opponets the Outlaws

Ive just watched The Hart Foundation Vs. The Killer Bees, I would actually rate these guys as a chance If people watch some of their old Matchs. Btw. Is the Kiwi Militia involved. Rip Morgan and Jack Victory. Yes that is right Jack Victory Steve Corino's manager in ECW was a member of a tag team with a Kiwi. But back on what I said, the Killer Bees could be a dark horse if people go back and watch their matches.

ravenstevie3.jpg

Raven and Stevie Richards

Overall: 66th Seed
Region: WWE 17th Seed

No one man reinvented himself quite like Scott Levy. Going from Johnny Polo to Raven in a matter of a year was an amazing transformation. During this time, he brought in a young Stevie Richards to ECW. This tag team was mostly Stevie getting his ass kicked, then an opportunistic Raven would run in and hit a DDT for the win.

My Prediction: First round match against the APA. While an argument could be made that in singles competition, Raven might win against both members, it's a tag match, and Stevie Richards is the weak link. Stevie was damn good in the ring, so I wouldn't discount this team yet.

3630360

The Nature Boy Ric Flair and Rowdy Roddy Piper

Overall: 89th Seed
Region: WCW 23rd Seed

No one man has accomplished more in this business then Ric Flair. That can not be argued. 16 time World Heavyweight Champion, more if you consider the sources. Add his best friend in real life to the mix, the Hot Rod, and you have a recipe for a good tag team. Piper is not nearly the technician the Flair was, but when it comes to brawling, few are better.

My Opinion: First round match against the Hardy Boyz. It'll be interesting to see how that goes. Do you vote for a team of spot monkeyz, or a team of two individuals, that's the big question. Individually, the Hardy's don't stand a chance against either, but as a team, they stand a very good chance.

01.jpg

Ricky The Dragon Steamboat and Jay Youngblood

Overall: 21st. Seed
Region: TNA 6th Seed

Another team of very good technical wrestlers. Few in this business have on good match, Ricky Steamboat probably has multiple DVD's worth of great matchups. This team simply dominated the early 1980's. Between the two, they have 14 reigns as tag team champions, and as a team, held the belt for 277 days.

My Prediction: How does a team with Steamboat not have an advantage. Barring any chokeslam challenge matchups, this team could go very far.

07.jpg

The Right To Censor: The Goodfather and Bull Buchanan

Overall: 91st Seed
Region: ECW 23rd Seed

Two big strong guys that were a part of one of the more annoying heel factions in WWE history. The RTC was a gag on the Parent Teacher Council, set out to censor the WWE and all of it's wrong doings. Together, they held the World Tag belts for a little over a month.

My Predictions: While on technical ability they won't dazzle, on strength, they should be reckoned with. They have an interesting first round matchup against the Latin American Exchange, so in other words, TNA Fanboys vs. WWE Fanboys, and we're all winners in that situation.

Glad to see the Nature Boy finally. As anyone who has read my posts know I am Flair first, and then the Horsemen. However I try and vote by abilities and not popularity, or my favorite. As in the case of Steamboat/Big Show in the last touranment. That being said I am already debating who to vote for in this match. The Hardy's are truly a great team. As Shockey said neither could hold a candle to either one of Flair/Piper. Hardys are the more decorated and known tag team but my question is this can they win a match with no legs. If Flair follows the Anderson style of wrestling and take down a leg can the Hardy's handle it. Leaning towards Flair/Piper but I'm open to arguments.
Second thought wonderful to see Steamboat and Youngblood. I saw these two in person several times and they are one of the biggest underrated tag teams of all time. Jay was great with Wahoo too. This team could be a sleeper.

The brackets have once again updated, and the tournament is looking VERY nice. I found it interesting that Flair got teamed with Piper of all people. Almost as if there was no one else for either man to be teamed with, so they just got thrown together. Not a big deal, nor a problem, just interesting

I recommend that people check out the updated brackets.

http://www.bracketmaker.com/tlist.cfm?tid=224646

I still personally feel that you should have had the Rowdy one teamed up with Cowboy Bob Orton, That makes the most sense as they had the most time together unless you have something else planned for Cowboy Bob Orton.

He's probably going to go with Bob Orton & Don Muraco, they tagged together alot more then Rowdy & Orton ever did.

Man am I excited for this thing...it looks great so far. Great job on the brackets Slyfox.

I've only got I think 25 teams after this update, and I usually do at least 4 a day, so the field will be complete by the end of this week. After that, the tourney will start shortly. I want people's opinions on whether we should have gimmick matches this time around or not. I know it caused a ton of shit in the first tournament. If we do gimmick matchups, the round of higher seed chooses the stipulation is gone. It'll either be one or two rounds of gimmicks, so any suggestions start them up...

04.jpg

The Road Warriors: Hawk and Animal

Overall: 20th Seed: If I added AWA stats, they would have been number 6.
Region: TNA 5th Seed

Well, I don't think I really need to say much about these two that most people already don't know. If there is a team that is the face of tag team wrestling, they are that face. They are the Hulk Hogan of Tag Team Wrestling.

My Prediction: They face the Natural Gang in the first round, so chances are, they are moving to at least round 2. I'm not ready to crown them the champions of this tournament, but If I was a betting man, I have a hard time seeing them get beat anytime before the final four.

03.jpg

The Rock N' Sock Connection: The Rock and Mick Foley

Overall: 73rd Seed
Region: WCW 19th Seed.

Another team of two great individuals. This team had 3 title reigns together in 1999, but they were very short title reigns. Between the two of them, they hold 16 individual tag team title reigns.

My Prediction: Another one of those matchups. Two Individuals that would probably not have a problem with their opponents in a one on one matchup. But they face the Blackjacks, a solid Team, and not a duo of individuals.

17.jpg

The Rock 'N Roll Express: Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson

Overall: 17th Seed.
Region: WCW 5th Seed

Former 4 time NWA World Heavyweight champions. This was the face of the NWA tag team scene during the mid 1980's. They are mostly remembered for their feuds with the Midnight Express and later on, the Feud with the Four Horsemen.

My Prediction: A very popular tag team, but thanx to the WWE monopoly, they haven't gotten much respect for the tag team they were. They face the team of Furnas and LaFon, so shouldn't have a problem in round 1.

14.jpg

The Rockers: Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty

Overall: 96th Seed (If I included the AWA, probably mid 30's)
Region: WCW 24th Seed.

So some higher seed is going to be screwed by my mess up. Honestly, Shawn Michaels maybe the single greatest in ring performer of all time, and Jannetty back in the day wasn't too bad himself. Hardy Fans, take note, this is a team of High Flyers, that weren't spot monkeys. Look Up a Rockers match, and you will see that any comparison to the Hardy Boyz are unjust.

My Prediction: Well I know a bunch of people will be pissed off, because I didn't go with the popular pick of Triple H and Degeneration X. Honestly, DX sucks guys, I'm sorry. If they were a team in 97 and had success, I might have a different opinion, but the 2006 version was a bore and a shadow of it's former self. The old School Rockers were the shit, and are going to be tough to eliminate.

Good for choosing the Rockers, they are the Tag Team that I would if Shawn was retired and had to pick a tag team for him than it would be this one, the matches they had were good, Im in the middle of watching a match with The Hart Foundation, the one on the Bret Hart DVD so this is a good match to check out to see how these guys work as a team, against a good team.

More fantstic tag teams there Shocky. Greta to see the Rockers, Rock 'n Roll Express and it wouldnt be a tournament without the Road Warriors. I would have to say that Hawk and Animal should at least been in the last four, but then I guess you never do know how some people will vote.

Im really pleased to see the Rock 'n Sock Connection make an appearance as well. I always liked them, ok maybe cos it was for segments like This Is Your Life but I always enjoyed their matches and they are two guys that individually I really like, so of course Im going to like when they pair up! Would like to see them go a little way into the tournament, but the will face some damn good teams along the way.

You all know I'm old school. So another argument for the golden tag teams. I enjoy the Rock and Mick Foley but they got a bad draw. Please try and watch some old matches of the Blackjacks! They were the definition of tough. Shockey don't keep beating your self up over the AWA thing. Still I haven't seen any arguments for the Hardy's so I guess Flair/Piper. I agree about The R-n-r thing. They are the tag version of Sting as far as being overlooked because of the Dead McMahon!

Wow, just finally got a working PC and read through this thing. I'm sure by the end Xfear will have shot me in some way. Trust me: the Wrestlecolin revolution will not last long in this thing. In fact, i'm probably about to blow it apart:

Why the hell shouldn't LAX make it far in this thing? The Latin American Xchange, from what i've seen of them, are a good tag team. They can wrestle (or Homicide can, at least, Hernandez can just plain throw guys around the ring) Konnan has good mic skills, Eddie Guerrero loves the guy (check out Cheating Death, Stealing Life, available in all good bookstores now in paperback!) and they had a hell of a long title reign. I know that's just coz TNA wanted to draw out the whole "Will Team 3D ever win the titles?" thing, but still, they did do it well. And no, i'm not a "fanboy", i don't even watch TNA religiously, i only really catch the PPVs, but i know that these 2 can go far. I don't think they'll win, but last 16 potential IMO.

Another point on which xfear will probably call me gay: Have gimmick matches. Not the one where the higher seed picks, that was just brutal. But i liked the "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal" round, and think it should be included at the end.

Hell, i'm already condemned to get my ass booed right out of this whole tournament, i may as well say how i feel: hoping for a dark horse win from the Hardyz.

New Age Outlaws: HMMM. They were good, they held the titles for a while. But can you recall any 5-star classic matches? Sure, Billy could wrestle, just check out his Vengeance 2003 match against Jamie Noble (the ppv where the camera man accidently showed Torrie's playboy pictures in a magazine Jamie was holding backstage) that was great. But the D-O-Double-G just couldn't wrestle. He was the mic skills. He was good (everyone loves the "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, d-generation x brings to you" and so on (i was tempted to type out the whole thing there, i love it.)) And that's not a typo, i was inside 2 sets of brackets there. But the fact is 1 out of 2 men can't go far in this thing. You might as well have entered Road Dogg and K-Kwik, for all the success these 2 are going to have in this thing. And if you're not down with that, we got 2 words for ya:

The Rockers.

02.jpg

Rob Van Dam and Sabu

Overall: 31st Seed
Region: WWE 8th Seed

RVDGurl, you may rest easy now. Easily the most innovative tag team to come out of ECW. A team of high flying wrestlers that shocked and awed a lot of fans in the ECW arena. RVD is one of the most innovative wrestlers ever, and Sabu is simply crazy in the ring.

My Prediction: They are a great tag team, and probably will win a match, maybe two. It's tough to predict though, has their recent run in the WWECW tarnished their legacy?

dreamersandman.jpg

The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer

Overall: 108th Seed
Region: TNA 27th Seed

If their ever was a team that was the face of ECW, this was that team. These two epitomized the look, and the style of wrestling that the hardcore fans came to live. While both are former tag team champions, they never held the titles together as a unit.

My Prediction: Hmm, Jay Youngblood and Ricky Steamboat in the first round is a big time tough match. I don't like their chances, but I've been wrong before.

01.jpg

The Triple Threat/Revolution: Shane Douglas and Dean Malenko

Overall: 103rd Seed
Region: ECW 26th Seed

A tough decision with these two. Both are very good wrestlers, but based on the luck of the draw, they were left without a tag team partner. Both were in the original triple threat, and in WCW's Revolution, so it was a natural fit.

My Prediction: Edge and Christian in the first round, very tough draw. However, Douglas is at home in an ECW environment, and Malenko is about as experienced as they come.

02.jpg

Sinister: Mikey Whipwreck and Yoshihiro Tajiri

Overall: 98th Seed
Region: WWE 25th Seed

Mikey Whipwreck is the perpetual underdog of ECW, and at the end of ECW, he was paired with the Japanese Buzzsaw Tajiri. Under the guidance of the Sinister Minister James Mitchell, they held the ECW tag team titles.

My Predictions: Sinister, welcome to the tournament and welcome to your first round match against RVD and Sabu. An interesting matchup to say the least, but with probably one likely outcome.

03.jpg

The Fabulous Ones: Stevie Keirn and Stan Lane

Overall: 127th Seed (Not Really, but a good showing of my programs screwing up abilities)
Region: ECW 31st Seed

Don't be fooled by the seed. The only reason they are this low is because I didn't include certain federations into the factoring of this tournament. They are 15 time Southern Tag team champions. Another one of the tag teams used by non other then the tag master Jim Cornette.

My Prediction: A damn fine first round match between AMW and the Fabulous Ones. People, please watch a video of the Fabulous Ones, it's up to you to choose, and I don't mind if they lose to a caliber team like AMW, but they at least deserve a viewing.

07.jpg

The Spirit Squad: Kenny Dykstra plus one of four Jobbers

Overall: 39th Seed
Region: WWE 10th Seed

Well, this is where I just want to shoot myself. The WWE kept the belt on these guys for 216 days, you heard me, 216 days. That's 8 months in the history of those titles that were just flushed down the shitter.

My Prediction: While certainly there are athletes in this group, there maybe one wrestler. Some people are impressed, I'm not. I could be in the minority though, but this is a team unworthy of its high ranking.

5228414.jpg

Sting and Lex Luger

Overall: 51st. Seed
Region: ECW 13th Seed

Another team consisting of real life best friends, which is going to be a strong bond. Lex Luger has come to be the bane of most traditional wrestling fans. He is often criticized for a lack of basic wrestling knowledge. Sting however, is one of the more revered talents of the last 20 years. This creates an interesting situation.

My Prediction: They are in ECW, so teams will be able to use weapons against them, if they can get to them. Luger and Sting won't need to use them, but are perfectly capable of using them if necessary. They face the Mamalukes in the first round.

06.jpg

Strike Force: Tito Santana and Rick Martel

Overall: 52nd Seed
Region: TNA 13th Seed

This team was another straight laced baby face team of the mid 1980's. The team consisted of Rick Martel, a proven talent, and Tito Santana. Both would have great careers, with Santana being inducted into the hall of fame.

My Prediction: Not a team to sleep on as well. While not going to dazzle anyone with a catchy gimmick or catch phrase, they certainly are worthy opponents for anyone they get in the ring with.

Thank you, Shockmaster....tonight I will sleep like a baby. Finally, RVD & Sabu have been added to the tournament. For those of you who did not have the opportunity to see these guys as a team back in ECW, you are missing out on absolute greatness. They did a program with The Eliminators (I think in '96??) which was hands down the best program between tag teams I have ever seen. The creativity and chemistry that those 4 guys had in the ring was incredible. RVD & Sabu have had some great matches against each other, but as a team, they are on a completely different level.

03.jpg

T&A: Albert and Test

Overall: 114th Seed
Region: ECW 29th Seed

A tag team of two very big guys. Albert is just all power, no finesse to him at all. The quickest way for him to beat you is to go right threw you. Test on the other hand used to be somewhat agile before he became a roided up freak.

My Prediction: A very big strong team, could pose a matchup problem for a quick paced higher seeded team. Either way, they aren't going to go to far.

02.jpg

Professor Toru Tanaka and Mr. Fuji

Overall: 5th Seed
Region: TNA 2nd Seed

Now here is the team that dominated the early 1970's WWE. 3 Title reigns as a unit for a combined 568 days, making them the 5th longest combined title holders of all time. Tanaka isn't very tall, but he's built as hell. Fuji is the technician, but if you know anything about Fuji, he's dirty as all hell in that ring.

My Prediction: Over 30 years have passed for this team, Probably no one on this board was alive to see them in their primes. However, this is a team that should make it very far. Their first round match is against the Bad Breed, so who the hell knows.

Masato Tanaka and Balls Mahoney
Pictures would be nice :)

Overall: 100th Seed
Region: TNA 25th Seed

Mahoney is probably going to be better remembered for his teaming with Axl Rotten, but Axl is already in the Bad Breed. Mahoney and Tanaka did gain ECW tag team gold, albeit for only 5 days, towards the end of that companies existance.

My Prediction: They face the formidable team of La Resistance in round 1, a very tough matchup. Without the benefit of ECW rules, Mahoney maybe the weak link. Mahoney can wrestle though, don't be fooled.

Taz and Kevin Sullivan
Another Pic would be Nice :)

Overall: 69th Seed
Region: TNA 18th Seed

If there was ever a team of the Angry Short Men, this is it. Both of these guys wrestled like someone just slapped their mother. They are ground oriented, mat wrestlers, that love to suplex, and stretch guys out. This team captured the old ECW tag team titles at the beginning and held them for 64 days.

My Prediction: Boy would I pay to see this. Taz and Kevin Sullivan vs. Hayabusa and Hakushi, sweet Jesus. I would have to think Taz and Sullivan are going in underdogs, simply because H&H are at home in a six sided ring, and can hit those ropes. However, If Taz or Sullivan get a hold of either of those guys, the complexion of the match changes.

13 more teams to go

02.jpg

Team Canada: Eric Young and Bobby Roode

Overall: 77th Seed
Region: TNA 20th Seed

Another one of those damn pesky TNA teams. Together, they are two time NWA world tag team champions. Another team with the stereotypical small technical wrestler, and big strong man wrestler.

My Prediction: Certainly at home inside of a TNA ring. They face a team of very accomplished wrestlers in Strike Force. This will be another TNA Fanboy vs. WWE Fanboy match.

spikeshow.jpg

The Big Show and Spike Dudley

Overall: 90th Seed
Region: WWE 23rd Seed

While probably they shoudn't be in this tournament as a team, both of these guys deserved in somewhere. This is how the pieces of the puzzle fell. The Big Show and Spike together as individuals have 9 tag team title reigns. The Big Show and Spike have tagged together, and this was a team that was thrown in.

My Prediction: While a lower seeded team, they certainly are capable of beating their first round opponents in the Spirit Squad. The Big Show is capable alone of beating plenty of tag teams, so it's hard to say how well they will do.

01.jpg

The Brisco Brothers: Gerald and Jack Brisco

Overall: 44th Seed
Region: TNA 11th Seed

For the purposes of this tournament, they were 3 time NWA world tag team champions. Outside of that, they have total, 20 tag team title reigns throughout various regional promotions. Two guys with a vast background in amateur wrestling. You do not want to be on the mat with either one of the Brisco Brothers.

My Predictions: They face the F.B.I. in the first round, so I figure they are a safe bet. Certainly capable of beating most teams in the field, the Brisco's could go far.

01.jpg

The Briscoes: Jay and Mark

Overall: 33rd Seed
Region: WCW 9th Seed

Together, they are 4 time ROH world tag team champions. Simply put, I am amazed by their in ring ability. They are insanely good in the ring. They are high flyers and hard hitters.

My Predictions: Everything I have ever said about controversial first round matchups, throw it out the window. The Briscoes vs. the Rockers in Round 1, are you fucking kidding me. If I had a time machine and could see this match, I would probably take out a mortgage on it. No prediction here.

Shock, my blood pressure is rising, I've been pacing back and forth all day, tossing and turning all night. The anticipation is killing me! I can't wait to pwn X and company with all my sweet ass arguments and, of course, build up my post count with daily predictions :D

And this time I can ban people who disagree with me :D:D

Seriously though this is shaping up to be as controversial as the first tournament. Big Show and Spike??? Very interesting. I'm betting the argument that the argument will be thrown around that Spike wasn't able to tag in Show if they have to face some TNA boys at some point. Wow that's a possibility I hadn't even considered. A team that's good at isolating the weaker of their two opponents.

So many layers to this tournament... it's not even funny.

03.jpg

Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson

Overall: 55th Seed
Region: WWE 14th Seed

Another one of those teams that many of todays fans won't be too familiar with. Together as a team, they held the WWWF tag team titles for 154 days. A team of two powerful guys. The one would later go on to father, someone else that used the name Rocky???

My Prediction: Interesting first round matchup against 3 live Kru. You have two powerhouses in Johnson and Atlas, against a speedy wrestler in Killings, and a technical lucha wrestler in Konnan.

19.jpg

Too Cool: Grand Masta Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty

Overall: 92nd Seed
Region: TNA 23rd Seed

Mostly a comedy tag team in the early parts of this decade. They only held the WWE tag team gold once, for a grand total of 27 days. Two light heavyweights, but neither of them are known for their high flying skills.

My Prediction: Too Cool maybe able to pull off a first round upset. Their first round opponents are the Quebecers, so an interesting matchup of two teams that started off as a comedy team.

X-X-X: Low-Ki and Elix Skipper

Overall: 95th Seed
Region: WWE 24th Seed

A team of two high flyer X-Division wrestlers. Triple X had multiple members, but these two had the most success as a tag team with each other. Together, they were onlly 2 time NWA tag team champions, for only 14 days total.

My Prediction: Easily a clash of styles in this matchup. Triple X faces the Dream Team of Valentine and Beefcake. My Opinion, Brutus is easily the weak link in this matchup. However, Valentine can very easily take out either Skipper or Senshi if he puts them into a submission maneuver.

The Valiant Brothers: Jimmy and Johnny Valiant

Overall: 18th Seed
Region: WWE 5th Seed

Another 70's team. This team one the WWWF tag team titles and held them for an impressive, 370 days. A nice violent tag team that wasn't afraid to bleed and beat their opponents down. If I remember right, Jimmy V would go on to be the first manager of Demolition.

My Prediction: Shouldn't have a problem in the first round. They face Men on a Mission, so if they lose, this tourney is bunk.

Only 5 to go...

I'm pretty psyched about this shocky. I wasn't apart of the original tournament, but tag team has a special place in my heart. Are Kaientai going to get a mention or not?
