Big difference between looking like shit and not looking as good. If you liked TNA so much back in the day when they looked like shit compared to what they do now as far as production values go, why is this such an issue for you?

I liked TNA so much from 04-06/07 so much because they focused on the WRESTLING, and you could expect excellent matches almost every week on Impact and several on every PPV. Now we get about 10 minutes total of ring time every week with neverending promos of stupid shit that Russo thinks is "edgy".

It's the same reason I liked TNA so much in the fall of '09. They put the strap on AJ and just let their best guys WRESTLE, we got that great Unbreakable rematch and Desmond Wolfe/Nigel McGuinness debuted and immediately was put into an awesome feud with Angle. Throw in Beer Money. MCMG, and the British Invasion doing their thing in the tag scene and they had a fantastic show going. Then comes Hogan and Bischoff, and by mid 2010 I was already sick and tired of the shit the company has become. Sure we still get a great match every few weeks at a PPV (sometimes), but the focus is so taken away from the wrestling now that this company isn't even recognizable to someone who watched TNA during their highlight years 5+ years ago. They're supposed to be the ALTERNATIVE to the WWE and they did that with incredibly athletic matches that you wouldn't see in the WWE. Now they just copy and try to emulate whatever the WWE does and run their show like it was a 2000 episode of Nitro. They aren't an alternative to anything now, they're a product still stuck 10 years behind the rest of the business, busy trying to focus on 90s stars and run Attitude Era-esque soap opera angles. They've regressed completely as a wrestling product since then. And no, I don't give a flying fuck if their ratings have gone up an average of 0.008 over the last year, their product still sucks most of the time.

I almost feel like TNA betrayed me. I gave them my loyalty and PPV money many times years back and then they just up and snatched away all the things I loved about the product and replaced it with rehashed Attitude era angles, ruined the Knockouts division, got rid of the constantly great wrestling, and just totally buried Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe, two of their main draws for so many years. It's like watching your child become a teenager and start doing drugs and making bad decisions, I just want the best for TNA but they continuously fuck it up time and time again.

TNA needs to have an Impact in front of 10000 fans in the UK. We will show them what a proper reaction is supposed to be.

Just to ask X, but after the fall of '09, where did you see TNA's main event scene? AJ fought everyone by the end of the year. What was next for him? EY?

I think you want what is best for you, not necessarily for them, which is fine from a fan perspective. However, when you bring business into it is when you lose me. You are fairly consistent in what you like so I will not fault you for that. Problem is where is this evidence that what you like translates to mainstream success? I am not a fan of the WWE product. However, I do not feel the need to try and "prove" they should do what I like. It is these odd attempts to put some weight behind meaningless personal opinions that amuse me when it comes to many TNA critics. Even more misguided is that a show should change for you when you are watching it anyway.

Depends on how you look at it. Do you think TNA is satisfied with where they are? Hogan and Bischoff are constantly yammering about ratings, ratings, ratings. To me, that shows they want to gain viewership, not just stay put.

I know what I want to see, and I don't think it's that far off from most fans. I could be wrong, and I accept that. However, TNA is doing something wrong, obviously. They bring in Hogan, Bischoff, Flair, Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, RVD, etc. They're spending that kind of money in hopes of drawing in more viewers, and it isn't happening. Period.

Wrestling fans are itching for a second promotion to challenge the WWE. The late 90's were great because you had two shows to choose from, and most watched both. I won't pretend I, or any other fan, could walk in and fix it. That's just stupid. However, they're not growing. And if they are growing, it sure isn't visible.

I'd say the growth is pretty obvious in the present compared to most of the time X is nostalgic for. US tv rating is not everything.

I think this second company desire thing is more internet lore than mainstream desire. Attitude era smarks would love that to happen but does the casual fan really care? I doubt it. Would that even be smart for either company? I doubt it in this era.

Where is the growth? Seriously, I want you to tell me where TNA has grown. We can't see their financials, so we have no way of knowing. Television ratings may not mean as much as people say they do, but they are a visible indication of growth. If more people are watching, more people are probably buying PPV's, t-shirts, etc. It's common sense.

The Monday Night War from the late 90's indicates otherwise.

I believe so, yes.

Would that even be smart for either company? I doubt it in this era.

Did you not watch wrestling in the late 90's? Do you understand how many people were watching? It would be great for both companies.

Thing that frustrated me the most was that they have this good arena that they don't have common use of in front of a white-hot crowd who popper well for a match between Scott Steiner and rob terry and they don't use that opportunity to have at least one very good/outstanding match. I mean Beer money get a 3 minute tag match, is there any reason Kaz and A.J. couldn't also have worked their way onto the card?

And then there's Sting. You could even sense the dissapointment from the crowd. Any cheers were laboured and half-hearted. I'm slowly losing respect for Sting the longer he chooses to compete and accept these pushes he keeps getting. He even personally admitted his body isn't what it used to be ergo he ought to have a bit of humility and move aside, just like DDP did when approached.

Dixie Carter is getting her own action figure. Well, thank God for that. I need her to complete my “delusional middle-aged woman who doesn’t need an action figure” collection. Gonna put her right between Christine O’Donnell and Sarah Palin.

Dixie Carter is a moron in regards to twitter:

A Few (spammy) Thoughts on TNA Impact!-March 10th, 2011

-Ken Anderson is really going off the deep end. As in, I'm about to change the channel when picks up the mic. Less is more, Ken..less is more.

-Sting cut one hell of a promo tonight. It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't ramble and repeat himself 10 times. He was the opposite of redundant, and it was nice for a change.

-The Jersey Shore thing was shit, but it didn't anger me nearly as much as I had expected it to. At least Angelina wasn't smiling and breaking character the entire time, as opposed to the one before her.

-Pope and Joe are still feuding? It's been nearly a month since either man was on Impact, so why should I care? Was this the blow-off match?? Seeing they don't have a match this weekend on PPV, this is an Impact-exclusive feud I guess :lmao:

-Bully Ray is far more entertaining than The Dudleys have been in years. Too bad he, A. can't work a singles match to save his life, and B. is stuck with former ECW trash.

-HEY! Stop skipping the Tara/Madison entrance, goddamnit. The kissing and ass smacking are easily the most entertaining thing they do. The entrance IS a gimmick, and they only show it half the time? Frustrating, I tell ya.

-I cannot call Matt Hardy fat anymore  He actually looks..good. At least he still totally, completely sucks at everything wrestling related :)

-Ink Inc. works as a tag team. Both men can wrestle, and have similar gimmicks. With more teams returning to Impact, TNA's tag division is back on track, BROTHER. No more Gunner & Murphy? A guy can hope, no?

-I don't get Anderson attacking Sting. I don't get Sting not wrestling tonight. I don't get why the Anderson/Hardy feud is being booked as though Hardy is the face, and Anderson is the heel. Why is Sting back to wearing that t-shirt while in the ring? Why does RVD have no problem flipping around in the ring, but looks like a 78 year-old man walking to the ring?

-Not a terrible show. Not even a bad show. Some of the usual Russo-style bullshit bothered me, but it wasn't bad at all.

I'm just waiting for Hardy to start lashing out at the internet over our reaction. Then the fun starts.
