The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

Dillinger is obviously being built for something. Him beating that luchador would certainly be surprising, but possible.

For once though, I'm quite sure how most of the matches at takeover will go.

Even NXT's rematch PPVs are good, so I'm really looking forward to Takeover. I just hope the cage match is good, since Finn and Joe usually like to use the ringside area in their matches.

Also, I don't know what's going to happen with Nia and Asuka. I'm worried about what a loss would do to either of them.

I agree that a loss to Nia would hurt Asuka a bit, as she shouldn't be losing to any current NXT female, with the possible exception of Bayley's assumed eventual redemption.

But I don't think losing to Asuka hurts Nia at all. She's a monster and can rebuild the majority of her mystique simply by stringing together a few solid dominant outings against the mid tier of the division. And at that point you can build her back to another eventual title shot, with a new wrinkle- sure she can dominate the lesser competition and even defeat the top names(shown by the win over Bayley), but- when all the chips are on the table, can she win the big one?

Went to a NXT show and literally the only guy to be booed was Elias Samson. Even the Revival were cheered, mostly for putting on the best match of the night with American Alpha, but Samson was basically booed out of the building. Some of if was likely due to his spot on the card, the main event teaming with Joe taking on Finn and Nakamura, but the guy just isn't clicking with the crowd.

Best part of the show may have been during a match between Tye Dillenger and Murphy. The crowd was chanting "Where's Alexa?" the whole match, so Tye responds by yelling, "At my house."

Elias Samson not being valuable because he's the only wrestler in NXT able to illicit boos is the opposite of the conclusion you should be making.

But the win over Bayley is the problem, to me. Defeating Bayley clean in 2016 is a big deal, and has given her a ton of momentum. It was a huge moment for Nia. I feel like it should be capitalised upon or else it won't have mattered.

Doesn't that make him a great heel? He's the male Eva Marie. And that's not a bad thing.

Ultimately, the question comes down to who does the win best serve.

Fact is, Asuka has more to gain from the victory than Nia, who has proven that she can bounce back from a high profile loss, as shown with her own attempt at challenging Bayley for the title. Not to mention Nia still in all likelihood still has quite some time left in NXT, so they'll likely want to let her cook some more before putting her in NXT's main event.

Asuka, meanwhile, is clearly the girl after beating Bayley, and since folks down in NXT tend to not have multiple reigns, then having Asuka defend against more opponents before getting called up makes her look better, since you can then ostensibly go and look at her record and be all impressed at her string of victories as champ. A loss to Nia hampers that.

Since fucking when is being booed as a heel the sign of a failure?

So happy for Gargano/Ciampa. Them and Dillinger have reignited my interest in NXT through what just seemed like NXT going through the motions the last few months.

The current rumblings: Dutchman Tommy End, best known for his work in wXw in Germany and PROGRESS in England, isn't taking further bookings and could be on his way to NXT.

End in NXT will be incredible. Signings like End, TM-61, and whoever impresses among the myriad of top level talents that will be brought in for the Cruiserweight Tourney, are the exact kinds of additions that will help keep the NXT product rolling if the brand split depletes the current roster.

I would expect Nia and Asuka has a faux finish and leads to a triple threat featuring Bayley (possibly saving Asuka from a potential beating) where Asuka pins Bayley again or Nia pins Bayley to take the title/save Asuka some face.

Dawson is useless as a main roster prospect, right? I adore the man, but he's a henchman/utility guy all the way. It's as futile as loving a scrub like Karl Anderson, right?

With that in mind, Alpha to the main roster and Revivial as long-term NXT gatekeepers is the right move. Very happy with that development. MOTN by far.

I thought it was good. The tag match was the only result I didn't expect to be honest - but after last week Gargano and Ciampa are already set up with the Revival, and Paul Ellering and his buddies seems like a good thing. I'm watching 1998 Raw at the moment, and Ellering is a shining light in a terrible feud between LOD 2000 and DOA. More importantly, they're the first exciting debut of actual NXT talent rather than indie guys for ages.

I've no idea who the luchador guy is, so excuse my ignorance, but he looks like someone I can get on board with and Tye Dillinger is even better at being CJ Parker than CJ Parker was.

Nakamura performed as a professional wrestler rather than an aggressive Freddy Mercury impersonator, which was nice to see, easily the most I've enjoyed either him or Aries since their debuts. He still has no concept of rhythm.

I liked the ladies, but I don't really know where either go from here. Jax you could build back up, but I'm not really sure for what. Alexa would work as a stop gap, but with Eva Marie and Dana gone, I really don't know who you'd put Asuka up against long term. The TNA Knockouts that were a big deal 8 years ago are presumably still out there, but I don't know.

Main Event suffered from TNA cage match issue of not being very telegenic. Go with the old school massive squares if size is a problem. I liked the ending. I don't want them to pull the Nakamura trigger just yet, but with Bobby Roode waiting in the wings maybe they have to.

Oh yeah: Tye with his cool new-ish entrance was obviously going to be super over tonight. Did they really think anybody was going to notice the other guy?

I don't love Tye. But come on.

The only thing that sucked about the show for me was the crowd. I really wish they would just take all of the TakeOvers on the road.

I dig Nia Jax and Asuka like, 10x more than before.

I kinda wish Finn would have gotten the title back and Joe would be getting called up.

I very much enjoyed the steel cage match. Very entertaining. I'd say that was the match of the night for me. Thought the women's match told a logical story and had a few entertaining spots. Seeing Nia KO'ed with repeated kicks to the head was the best way to end things.
